Only by stretching the Bentayga could Bentley finally achieve its true goal of making its profile look almost indistinguishable from the now-discontinued Lincoln MKT.
I.E. - a hearse
Yoooooo
I used to own one. It rode so damn smooth. Probably because of the long wheelbase.
It's a car wreck for elegant styling. One born every minute.
@@vernonpaigejr.1517 same wheelbase as the Ford flex
Excited to see Hoovie get his hands on this in 20 years
The RUclips money has gone to Hoovie's head, his hoopties are now $100,000+ and his channel isn't like it used to be.

20 years? You mean next year?
He already has a Bentayga lol
He already has a w12 bentayga
I love it...Bentley having a "luxury trim level" is like supercars having "sport mode".
Or even Supercruiser mode.
The rear lights look like anus

Or track mode

This video feels very emotional to him for some reason. You can tell just how much he loves the Bentayga and how he’s disappointed of how it ended up now. He came in to this car with high hopes but wasn’t quite satisfied. Damn
dumbass Doug, the chauffeur, complaining about the engine not being a w12, like why didn't you ride in the back and review it like a normal common sense reviewer does, bc, that is what matters.. we don't care what the paid hire thinks
You’re right, and it’s true. Other than the fact that it’s stretched there’s not enough to distinguish it from a current 100k soccer mom Bentayga, along with the powertrain being much less smooth/refined as the original Bentayga. You’d expect x4 the price on a chauffeur-focused vehicle would offer more than just extra leg room, a re-centered sunroof, front seats in the rear and some tweaks to a lack-luster infotainment. There are chauffeur vehicles from over 20 years ago that are quieter, more luxurious and more refined that this. And it’s sad to see THIS is the best Bentley can do in 2023
@@Juberdingus the Bentayga still looks cool. Although not as cool as Continental.
@@Juberdingus Perhaps the 2nd edition will be an improvement.

This would actually be the ideal car for Doug for his 3,000 mile high speed blasts to Nantucket from San Diego and back.
what is high speed good for if it breaks down 7 times on that distance lol
Too cheap, he's in the 1M market lol
@@holden998able lol yes I think he’s moved on from the Defender P400 days. Can’t see the Mercedes E450 All-Terrain lasting long.
@@2dan_ Bentley does all the hot & cold weather testing program as any VW or Audi, and that V8 (variant thereof) is well proven in the Urus & Panamera.

5:05 Doug saying "goodbye peasant" like that just made my week
I thought it made you a month
Basically the sort of thing Doug would usually say to people when he drives his Luxury cars😂😂😂
What's truly amazing is how Bentley stretched that vehicle and decontented it enough that it looks like a $70,000 SUV in 3 years, after the lease.
Depreciation will hit this hard as it always does to Bentleys.
The only positive is the loss of the W12 for an engine that's a bit more reliable. The only reason to have considered this vehicle was for the W12 engine for the power and uniqueness.

Doug, driving assist tech is huge now and plays a significant part in many peoples car purchasing decisions. I think it would really beneficial if you start discussing specifically what driving assist tech a car comes with in your reviews. Thank you.
Yes - and especially since Doug only buys a daily driver with active cruise control, he should give his verdict on each car’s systems.
Maybe it would make sense to name em. But I don‘t think that „discussing“ the driving assists would be interesting for the majority of the people. Fine, it would be interesting to know what kind of drive assists the car has. But if Doug would start mentioning it beyond naming it or telling the people if its up to the industry standards or not, I would personally be skipping the parts. As I think most people would do. If you really consider buying the rewied car, I think you should test out the assistants by trying the car out before buying it :)
@@tomknoden2547 I agree to be honest. I could care less what kind of driving assist these ultra luxury cars have. There are plenty of other reviewers who go in detail about that stuff on cars bought by average folks (TheStraightPipes).
@@tomknoden2547 Y'all skip, I'm gonna watch!
Lol drive assist
Instead of a cargo pass-through I was expecting a fridge with Champaign as Doug has shown us in the Maybach luxury SUV
That’ll be another 16k sir
@@BooTub3 at the price of 300K, it should’ve included in the first place
yeah i legit thought there would be a fridge with champagne glasses in it but was very disappointed. no w12, no fridge, full of plastic buttons, no rotating infotainment screen this whole suv feels like a step backwards
@@spicyghost6655 might as well get a cullinan for a extra 100k more at this price point, lol.
Same. I'm disappointed.
The dichotomy of the cheap plastic buttons and the immaculately-crafted milled aluminum air vents/trim is wild
I like the luxurious interior but it is interesting how a Bentley is no longer many times nicer than cheaper cars. During the review I kept thinking how much nicer a Genesis GV90 could be. I think the current G90 has some things on par with this or better in terms of materials, and in Korea you not only have massaging memory heated/ventilated seats in the back, but a leg rest, foot rest and foot massage. That would still cost around 1/3 as much as this car while having metal buttons and no cheap stuff except under the seats. Once all these cars are electric, Bentley / RR / Maybach will have to step it up, and not just by slapping screens and LED strips all over the place.
The back lights look cheap as well
The Mulsanne being replaced by a Bentayga is probably the single biggest wake up call that I have experienced to the fact that cars are officially dying. I know Ford announced they would stop building cars almost half a decade ago now, but somehow that didn't surprise me as much given that I always associated them with trucks (the F series) anyways. But this, Bentley subbing their flagship chauffeur-driven land yacht with an SUV really does it for me. The end has come for cars.
Basically this is the movie Idiocracy coming to life. In a world that lacks all sense everyone is driving these SUV-like vehicles, and well...Sense or no sense in today's world the vision I got from the film is becoming reality. Real cars (as in, sedans, hatchbacks, wagons, etc.) are going the way of the dodo. Ugh...!
I suppose, but is it really a bad thing? SUVs are pretty much better than sedans in every single way (sports cars should remain Sedans/Coupes for obvious reasons)
They have:
More head room
More suspension range (softer ride)
Better clearance
More cargo room
Better for inclement weather
Off-roading clearance
Can have the same footprint ( length x width )
I had a BMW coupe, then a model s, and I was really considering an S class. Now I am thinking I should go with a GLE, X6, Range Rover, Model X or Porsche cayenne. They aren’t as beautiful as many cars, but they are definitely a better value.
@AreVee I guess my issue is I've always been a traditionalist, and from what I would usually see the majority of SUVs haven't gone off-road.
more tires for the parisians to deflate
@@arercee5528 I never said it was a bad thing! Just making an observation. That said, I happen to think as a personal matter that it's a bad thing because I just don't like how SUV's look, and because more options are just generally better than less options, but that's not an objective measure and I wouldn't force that on anyone else. Regardless, the important point is that the end has come, you can form your own view about whether that's good or bad!
“Seven more inches of Bentayga” is my new go-to pickup line. Thanks Doug!
That trunk floor panel, and its plastic handle is identical to the one in my 2014 Audi A6 Avant.

5:06 me driving away from the McDonald’s drive thru window
At $300K, I'm surprised at how unimpressed I am with its features. I mean, it LOOKS amazing, but there are some shortcomings that are hard to understand:
1. I don't think a trunk pass-through will be widely used by someone who is getting chauffered around in this car. Does someone really want something poking into the back seat from the trunk and resting on the leather armrest, taking away armrest space for themselves?
2. Does this car not have a separate climate control zone for the back seat? That seems silly.
3. they put a run-of-the-mill infotainment system with a small screen in the front (looks like one you'd find in a $35K Honda).
4. excessive use of plastic on the front dashboard and center console.
5. the tray tables in the back are tiny and pretty much useless. They sit too far from the back seat and there doesn't appear to be any way to slide them back toward you. And they are too small to use a laptop on for work.
6. The screens in the back are also nothing special. I mean, the new BMW i7 has a massive screen that comes down from the ceiling and you can get that car for half the price of this one.
7. The rear center console isn't more than a well-appointed storage box with cup holders that you can find in a VW Golf.
and 8. I'm just not generally impressed by any new ICE vehicle anymore.
Don't get me wrong. The car is BEAUTIFUL and has some amazingly luxurious appointments. But as an ultra-luxury $300K+ vehicle, I think it falls a bit short (despite its long wheel base 🤣).
@5:00: Doug waited for this moment his whole life. 💀
Not going to lie, with the likes of Chevy and Ford creeping past the 100k mark on their trucks and SUVs, a 300k Bentley somehow comes across as less prestigious than it should.

Incredible car. I think they missed one thing though… heated and cooled cupholders.
They missed another thing, making it look and feel like a Bentley, just a pathetic overpriced AudiQ7. The Mulsanne was the last of the real Bentleys.
The extra length actually makes the Bentayga look good. All the sculpting and decoration that looks overwrought on the regular wheelbase vehicle ...actually
looks good here...

How it should've been from the jump, imo.
Actually, when rumors of Bentley/RR SUVs started surfacing, I imagined something the size of an Excursion/Suburban. Presumably, few will utilize the off road capabilities. I know I wouldn't want mud etc. in my handcrafted interior.
excursion/Suburban sized bentley's and RR's kills the European market
@@moseskamau406 - Fair point!
The regular wheelbase doesn't seem any bigger than a Mazda CX-5. Meanwhile, Suburban, Escalade, Excursion, and Denali (and maybe even the QX80?) are still huge compared with the extended wheelbase Bentley. My biggest complaint though has to be all the wind and road noise you can clearly hear in the video, for $300,000 I'd expect a quieter ride...and a fridge in that rear passthrough. I also had a chance to review the Bentley Bentayga EWB, I must say I love that blend between classic and modern! It doesn't strike as an SUV to me, but rather as an oversized wagon, like those big Bentleys of the 1960s!
Im not one to complain when manufacturers restyle the front and rears but man the like 2008 - 2016 Bentley styling looked a lot more iconic, more attractive IMO

I hope they bring out another car like the Mulsanne and Arnage. Hand built sedans like those are core to Bentley’s identity. All of their current lineup are mass production vehicles.
They do it for profit😕
The Interieur really didn't scream luxury with the many spots with cheap plastic and the overall design is kind of 90s with the awkward wood inlays and doily pattern in the leather.

Having been in the Bentayga W12 I see where you’re coming from, also it doesn’t help that the Bentayga also shares its platform with the Q7, Touareg, Urus, Cayenne etc, let alone its V8, I know somebody who had a Bentayga and they said it felt similar to drive to their Touareg they used to have, I think the Bentayga definitely needs a redo within the next few years, especially since the new Range Rover is just behind it on price depending on trims and also offers a very competitive luxury SUV with arguably more going for it, I personally can’t see why you’d take any V8 Bentayga over a Cullinan or Range Rover based off what they all offer combined, I can see it being a great option if you want a more luxurious Cayenne though.
