Thanks for a wonderfully presented video Terry. My wife and I visited Burra 2019, took the key tour and your video took us right back there. Love this town. We camped with our caravan up at the old showgrounds on the edge of town. your delivery very relaxed, enjoyable and easy to watch. Cheers.
Well done to the people who've made this available to locals & tourists alike. I can only imagine the volunteering hours put into the project for other people's experiences & enjoyment.
🎉Most enjoyable, thank you. My mother was born at Burra in 1914 and her parents moved to Broken Hill a few yrs later. She died when was 12 but I seem to recall her telling me she and her parents and siblings lived in the cottages. I did not realise Burra was such a lovely town. 🌹
Great video. 2 of my grt grt grandfathers arrived there 1857. One from Wales, the other from South America. He was Jose Pizarro, a muleteers for the mines there. Bringing mules over and trekking to the port with copper and back. When the copper ran out he, his wife and her family travelled slowly to Ballarat where they grew old and passed away there. There are many Pizarros still in SA and VIC. My father and brother were born with brown skin, black hair and brown eyes. Carrying Jose's genes on.
Terry, your channel is fabulous! You have such a friendly way of imparting your travel experiences. I'm working my way through all your videos. Just love seeing the different locations around Australia, and hearing about the history of each one. Video and music editing is perfect too. Best of luck with your channel. Look forward to the next installment! Cheers
Thanks for the video it was really interesting. We visited Burra on our way west in 2020, and intended to go as far as Perth and then come back. Burra was one of the places we wanted to visit on the way back to spend more time in. Sadly we were only there overnight, and we couldn't get back over the border so we had to go right around Australia running from covid! My father lived at Moonta Bay, and I believe the Moonta Mines are connected to the copper at Burra, so I've seen a bit of mining history over at Moonta. Hopefully we'll get back one day!
Absolutely magic, Terry, old SA Whyalla boy here, haven't been back in 40yrs 😢 great video, my friend. We have subscribed to watching from Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺🇦🇺🍻🍻🏔🏔🌨🌨❄️❄️🦘🦘
What a fascinating video from beginning to end. There is a lot of preserved history in the town of Burra. Thanks for taking the time to make and share this masterpiece.
Burra is a great little town , i retired a year ago from Adelaide people friendly cafes are great , thing i like most going up to the mine site when theres no moon you can see the milky way and the millions of stars its really is a awesome sight.
thanks for this video. i did the key thing about 10 years ago so this brings back some wonderful memories. it is an amazing place and everyone should go see it.
Absolutely enjoyed this, thank you for an awesome video and commentary. It looked like such fun exploring the history and beautiful places throughout the town, it felt like going back in time. I LOVE your videos, thank you again!
G'day Terry, once again a great and very informative video. Just a couple of weeks ago channel 9 put up a video of Burra. I have to congratulate you because your video left ch9's for dead. I'm a South Aussie and I was a member of the Adelaide Gem and Mineral Club, and around 1970 we the club had a "field day" in the copper mine. I found the specimen of the day a golf ball size of Banded Malachite and still have it to this day. I went back to the Burra Burra Copper Mine several years later and it was closed to the public. I was very disappointed. But it is so good to see it open now. Thank you so much for your vision around Burra. I'll definitely head back there sometime.. Cheers..
this is so cool! i live a bit awayfrom burra and have been there with my parents when i was younger and thought id forgotten my memeories of going around to the historic places. thanks for making me remember these meories! the dougouts were my favourite and still are. thanks for this vid!
16:30 the unicorn brewery cellar was actually a filming location for Wolf creek 2 featuring John jarrett. I included a link to John coming back after the cellar flooded a while ago. m.ruclips.net/video/h0plIfHRt_c/видео.html&pp=ygUSSm9obiBqYXJyZXR0IGJ1cnJh
Same trip as Terowie and Peterbourgh. Stopped here overnight and that was when we found out about the railway line. The place we stayed at was trying to resurrect it because of the paltry price it was sold for. We wandered around without the key but was still interesting. At the time w went through these areas emus were coming into town looking for food and water this was before 2019, so not sure when this vid was done but can tell you it was very interesting at this time
That was a very interesting insight to the history of Burra. Did you know that the Midnight Oil house is where Ian Rosewall was born, Ken Rosewalls cousin. There used to be to be a tennis court in front of the home and the family would sit on the veranda and watch Ken and Ian play tennis.
I by chance found your you tube channel whilst googling great ocean road, which I watched on my TV and enjoyed. When I searched Let’s Go to watch some more, you did not come up. So, I got onto RUclips on my iPad, searched for Let’’s Go great ocean road and up came your other VTs, which is strange. So looks like I’ve got to watch them on the iPad rather than TV.
Come to Leonora in Western Australia 🇦🇺 .. you will love it .. the old town of Gwalia .where Roland Rocchiccioli .i say rocincheli grew up .. I’ve read his book . “ and be home before dark “ .
My original settler ancestors are buried in the Burra Cemetary - Hannretta Mugge and Juilius Mugge ding in 1896 and 1897 - not sure on the spelling of the 1st names sorry :)
The brevet sergeant, John, that is/was there… genuinely the best Cop in the state. And I can’t stand cops. Be worth settling down there just to know you’re in a safe and supported community.
Burra is South Australia's hidden gem.
I lived in Burra in 1978…… it still had 5 pubs, the mine was still open as was the railway. I loved my time in Burra ✅
SA has so much to offer. Such a beautiful state. Thanks for showing us around Burra.
I did this with my parents, LOVED the idea of the key. My favourite was the underground brewery tunnels and the dig out houses!
Thank you, Terry, for a very interesting and informative video. Love your sense of humour. Cheers.
That was brilliant Terry, I've been to Burra many times and had no idea about that self guided tour,
It’s a great idea and fun to do at your own pace.
Thanks for the tour Terry - awesome ! We feel like visiting some of these places you’re showing us now. Great channel.

the brewery, down in the cellars was where scenes from wolf creek were filmed.

Abby thanks for the input I learnt a little more about Australia as I was not aware that SA was almost given to the French.
Love your content Terry, a film producer in the making

Thanks so much for your kind comment. Burra is a real gem (pun intended) 😂 and the keys system is a unique way to show off the town’s history.
Well done informative video, I moved close by 2 years ago. Great town, there's so much history.
I lived here over half a century ago, we had a goat that would follow us to the shop and wait like a dog
That’s a great story. Thanks for sharing 😀
I could hear the pigeons when I went to the engine house as well

Hi. Thanks for watching. On your smart TV while in RUclips search LetsGo012 and you should find my channel.
Burra was also train history, got that through the lad at the motel

Burra is lovely though
Imagine we SA Aussies could be speaking French and have to use a Visa to enter Vic, NSW and WA?
It nearly happened. We’d be eating croissants for breakfast

Very much Australia 🙂

Wanted to see Australia but put right off since Wolf Creek movie, big diff between rough diamond bloke and rough 💩 huh
Sorry the emus were at Peterborough
I wish I could've scored one for a pet, I saw mini pats along Railway Tce, I thought a calf did them
Maybe you should blurr out their security footage
Do you have a brother called Steve who lives in Whyalla ? He looks exactly like you
Nope
@@LetsGo012 Well you have a double lol and love your videos
🌞You look a lot like my babies daddy Brian Harris RIP
🌞I had no idea Midnight Oil took that much of an interest in SA I know somebody who would loose her marbles over that
If you ask anyone in town where’s the Midnight Oil house they all know where to direct you 😂
Thumbs up to the English and French for discovering a place that had been inhabited for tens of thousands of years
Thumbs down for a snowflake whose culture couldn't invent the wheel.
O M G SA broke dont tell Allen she will sell Victoria to the French!😊
I'm buying a van 😅😀
You won’t regret it 😊
Quorn craps on Burra.
