A quiet little country town with not many residents living there; perfect and such a beautiful place. I love country Victoria.

Love my visits there. We take the dogs up and have a picnic near the old tennis courts (now a picnic area) and then walk in. They only connected to mains power electricity I think in the 1990’s and got mobile reception (due to its fire prone safety) in the last 5 or so years. Walking the old timber tram lines along the edge of the hills above town (most of those current paths along the edge were tramways) we have found old bottles etc over the years.

Frog Dreaming, starring Henry Thomas (E.T.), was filmed in Walhalla in 1986. That's one from my childhood that shows the incredible beauty of the town. It's still a magical movie for kids and adults lol

Enjoyed this lovely video. The only bit you didn't go to was the cricket pitch. It might not be open still. It looked like a fair walk up, I chose not to try. If I'd been staying longer, I may have. You've got me thinking of visiting again, especially as the train is up and going now. My husband visited as a young man late 80s camping. I haven't gone in the mine, so on the list for next time.

Apparently the sounds of mining, particularly belt driven stone crushers echoed through the Walhalla valley almost 7 days a week. It may have taken a special type of stamina to live through that in those 'idealic' hey days.

The Long Tunnel extended mine produced 440 thousand ounces of gold....not 440! Lol. That's almost 14 tonnes of gold. Just a little bit more than what you said.... 😁

I’m still only starting out so I’m trying to get a handle on the finances. I do know it’s cheaper than paying rent. I’ll probably do a “costs” video once I’m travelling long enough to have an average weekly cost.

Weighted correctly which is heavier a lb of gold or a lb of feathers?
Precious metals like gold and silver are measured using the “troy” system where there are 12 ounces in a pound. If you normalize everything to mass a pound of feathers is 454 grams and a pound of gold is 373 grams, therefore the feathers are technically heavier.

This Is a privilege!!! special, once in a life time, discovering, and just knowing // and so much more , A person like yourself has experienced such of these meaningful words. 'just knowing '' means 'knowing' of the past in existence. . So valuable , many people live in Australia, being educated in school, work and spend their lives in Australia. and have not ''knowing'' of the past in details their heritage. So valuable !! and so , special. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey. Consider yourself a special, Aussie!!!
