- In 1904 the tiny hamlet of Dalgety on the Snowy River was chosen to be the site of Australia's capital. But it never happened. I'll tell you why as I explore the heritage towns of the Monaro Snowy Mountains area of NSW.

Another little gem. I heard about the Snowy River Scheme and Lake Jindabyne many years ago. It was great to see it and the other little towns. Well done my friend. (Pete, Manchester UK).
I enjoyed this video! Growing up my best friend’s family had a holiday house at Dalgety. We stayed there and visited the snow. Great memories.
hi Terry
Going out on a limb here - you’ve been travelling “clockwise” haven’t you.
What beautiful countryside. I love that such a place remains a hamlet.
“There’s not much here” - all the better. Somewhere where there isn’t mass tourism.
Sadly on my long overdue return to Australia next week I won’t be having enough time to visit beyond Perth and Sydney but you’ve opened my eyes to the many possibilities for future visits.
I really love your “show”. So glad the “algorithm” led me to you.
Until next time
Zoltan
Yes I’ve been travelling clockwise. It’s a vast and beautiful country. Glad you’re enjoying the videos 😀
Thanks Terry, sooo interesting wonderful scenery as well.
Such a peaceful video ❤
How lovely to visit those little towns especially in NSW as we're based in Sydney.
Very nice vlog Mister Terry, nice surroundings.
Good to watch one one of y videos while having Saturday breakfast. The thing about your videos is how one should regard the trip as important as the destination, most just maybe stop in these small towns for a comfort stop and keep going, not realising what they are missing. Hopefully, these videos will encourage travelers to slow down and take in the area.
That’s been the point of these videos. I’ve mostly avoided the big cities and explored the places in between. 😀
Calming and informative. Thanks
The politicians quickly excluded Dalgety after visiting in the middle of winter.
It is also pronounced Mon-air-o.
Thanks for letting me know
Another great Vlog, and a history lesson as well! Keep up the great content, cheers from Downunder 🦘🦘🦘❤️🇦🇺
I’ve been up this way Terry 😀 I remember Jindabyne. Very popular area. I didn’t stop in the other areas just passed thru. Brings back nice memories for me. Nice to know the history of the areas. Love to know how many Ks you have clocked up with your van. Thank you so much for information. Love it Suzy
Nessie has taken me around 35,000km. She’s a gem 💕
Bombala was going to be one too.😊
Another good one thanks Terry. You will be back home soon so what happens after that?
I’ll continue making videos. But where? I’ll reveal soon 😀
10C sounds perfect to me at the moment as I sit here in 35C heat 🥵☀️🕶️
hmmm great idea and video [thanks, I am in Dalgety] though you mispronounced the word Monaro, [its Mon-air-o] and you also said "in 1804" when speaking about the idea of making Dalgety the capital, should be 1904..
Thanks for letting me know.
The district name is pronounced 'Mon-air-row', not 'Mon-ah-row'.
