      It was Novak's best tennis since last year. He won three Grand Slams in 2023. People tend to forget that fact because he did not win anything this year until the Olympics. I would not say it's the best he has played in 5 years, though. His 2021 performance at Roland Garros against Nadal was higher and better.

    You're making it sound like Alcaraz lost the match bc he was mentally weak. That is not true. Djokovic won the match bc he is that good. Alcaraz was mentally very strong, staying with Djokovic in the second set despite losing a tiebreak after the first set during which he was arguably playing 1% better than djokovic for most of the time.

    • @FamilyYoutubeTV-x6d
      @FamilyYoutubeTV-x6d 2 месяца назад +1

      Alcaraz did play weakly mentally in the second set, especially during the tiebreak, with weak shots and not high risk taking like Novak's "great forehands".

    • @Ultimate.Tennis
      @Ultimate.Tennis 2 месяца назад

      @@FamilyRUclipsTV-x6d I kind of disagree. He won two points with his forehand while he landed two forehands in the net. That seems like a reasonable conversion rate for a mentally strong Alcaraz. Djokovic had three forehand winners and one point where he pretty much won the point bc of his forehand even though he finished with a overhead smash.

      @@FamilyRUclipsTV-x6d no, I don't know why you think that, I do agree that he played well overall but he lost his temper and played with a wrong mindset during the tie-breaks, which is actually pretty atypical from him (Alcaraz) Who normally plays his best when under pressure. This time was too much for him or something, is sad, cause I rooted for him to win.

    Great video! Think you covered everything. I think Carlos didn't enjoy the match, because of the pressure. Enjoyment seems to make all the difference for his game. He can be in a tough match and visibly enjoying it a lot, which is a thing that makes him so endearing. You could just tell he wasn't enjoying this one.
    He piled the pressure on himself when he said he would win the gold medal. Credit to Djokovic for being able to apply that much pressure against a guy who can beat almost anyone else when not playing his absolute best.
    Alcaraz has a bit of a pattern of losing matches after speaking confidently like this, like at the US Open last year when he was defending champion.

    Court Side channel is my favorite, impartial analysis, important statistics and good presentation. It was a tough match for both players, 2 tie breaks tell it. It was a huge pressure for both, Nole’ s last chance and Carlitos his first… big difference is 21 vs 37, 5 Olympics vs 1.

    A combination of several things really. Djokovic knowing its his last chance and coming in more motivated than ever, and playing one of the best matches he’s had in a year + Alcaraz being young and feeling pressure to deliver for his country himself + 3 set format helping Djokovic greatly as I’m not completely confident that Djokovic can beat Alcaraz over 5 sets much anymore as he continues to age. Overall, if Djokovic is as motivated as he was this tournament, there’s maybe 3 to 4 players in history that can hope to beat him on that day and thats under specific conditions.

    I don't believe Alcaraz felt additional pressure because of the Olympics. It's more about when he faces an opponent who can match his shots. When he's put on the back foot, he tends to make more mistakes because he feels the need to take higher risks. We've seen this a few times when he played against Novak.

      Alcarez is an explosive player with mental strength beyond his years. He is similar to a young Rafael Nadal in that category because Nadal's mental fortitude was otherworldly. You have to stand up to a player of that magnitude MENTALLY even more than physically. Novak had a CALL BACK to his Serbian wall days in which he matched and exceeded the mental strength of his opponent. It took that for Novak to rise to the occasion, rise above the knee injury, rise above his opponent, and he did. It is going to take Jannik Sinner to adapt and rise above his current level MENTALLY to win more of the big matches against Alcarez because that is his main rival around his age. Novak is 37 and will only play for so much longer.

      Definitely not overrated. He already won more than 95% ATP players, and is still 21.
      You may like him or not, thats up to you. But facts are facts

    PED testing at the Olympics is much tougher than the ATP (especially if you are a star). Wonder why Carlos was not as good as the Olympics…..

    So funny to see djokovic fake his injury during the games. Fakest player on the planet, but still the goat. But 0 respect from me after the olympics with how he conducted himself in trickery and deceit

      You got it and he won’t let the world rest. He won gold end of story but his packaged stories of knee operation and injury were not necessary in the end.

      Shut up hater. Djokovic just had surgery and he's 37 years old, and has played over 1300 matches in his career. He doesn't have to fake anything since he's won everything in the sport. Imagine saying someone is faking when they had surgery less than 2 months ago. You can't handle that he beat your golden boy. Take the L and quit whining. No one cares.

      Too bad you fell for his tricks! He fooled Alcaraz and it paid off! Woohoooo!!!!!!!!

      @@sonicmoj1 You're such a sore loser. Alcaraz played well, and much better than the RG final, but it was not enough to beat the GOAT. Yea keep crying about him supposedly faking an injurym which is just flat out ridiculous, because you can't accept that he beat Alcaraz fair and square.
