For me, this is Novak's best GS final performance. He was so dialed-in and focused. Nadal hadn't lost a set before the final, and Djoker made it look like it was a first-round match against a low-ranked player. The ball coming off of Novak's racquet sounds so incredible here. It has a crispness and power that is beautiful to hear and watch.

Even novak had said that this was his highest level but novaks highest level was vs federer AO 2016 federer played the match of his life and still lost federers level was also very high that match that's why novak dip in set 3 n lost that set but what an unbelievable tennis and especially return of the federer serve novak had that match just unbelievable. I vividly remember people calling him "Rafa 2.0" because of how locked in and aggressive he looked, while Djokovic looked subpar up until the semifinal. Djokovic downgraded "Rafa 2.0" into "Rafa 1.0" in the final in beautiful fashion.

This is obviously implied by this whole video clip, but Nadal was just on absolute fire, throughout this whole tournament, clobbering all of his opponents throughout this whole tournament, until this very match indeed. Kudos and congratulations here to Djokovic, whom managed to convincingly and perhaps rather surprisingly prevail against the great Rafael Nadal.

This is true even today, just replace nadal with alcaraz. Alcaraz obviously is much younger, but if he would have met Djokovich in his prime, I bet Djoko would have defeated him very easily, considering at 37 Djoko is able to still win 3 out of 5 matches against Alcaraz. Djoko has lost his speed, and strength to a very obvious lesser level, but he still has technique. Whatever Alcaraz is today, Nadal was even bigger then. Djoko is truly the GOAT, only sitting alongside Federer, who has achived the similar level.

No doubt Nole played fantastic, but there was also a specific context and the explanation was given by Rafa himself after the match. Rafa's injury was stopping him for doing the proper preparation before that AO. His fitness / endurance / preparation was severely altered and, as a result, he had to play much more aggressive than his usual style. This fact turned out helping him during that AO, but not against Nole in the Final. He said it, he needed to defend a lot against a player like Nole, which was something he simply was not capable doing.

It's almost like they fix results knowing they will share finals in future upcoming slams where they share out the wins. It has felt this way since Fed, Nad, Djok rose to the top. I refuse to believe some of these matches aren't fixed. It has been massive revenue and we have to remember all sports is entertainment and entertainment is business. They made tennis huge having the fans fixated on if one or the other will 'ever' reach certain milestones due to this 'roadblock' one is for the other etc. Perfectly orchestrated story arcs when all 3 have had a pretty equal game. Rafa here didn't even play his best and nor did he hit shots anywhere near as hard as he was the previous matches. Even with his feet set ready to unleash. I noticed this alot during french open finals too where Djokovic would deliberately play subpar.

@@zorankostur I can see you're not the smartest! Because in 2016, Nadal gave up in the 3rd round with a wrist injury! In 2015 djoker won against Nadal who had been out of form all year! You could also see from the djoker that he was not happy with this victory because he knew Nadal was out of shape! And it wasn't the Nadal who always easily defeated him at Roland Garros! In 2021, Nadal was also not 100% fit because after Djoker's win, Nadal was out for a long time again! Nadal did beat djoker at Wimbledon and twice in the US Open final, which he won as often as djoker! Djoker did not achieve these feats at Roland Garros! And djoker has never dominated a GS like Raffa did at Roland Garros! Making a GS your own living room makes you a GOAT!
