J Smith Ha. With a 1.5 turbodiesel four-cylinder, my mum's Dacia Duster does about 12secs 0-62. (It's AWD, so it's not as quick to 62 as the FWD one because of all the extra weight)

Solid! When I did my runs I discovered 2 things because I'm OCD: Speedo cable lag can make your time seem slower, add speedometer in accuracy typically makes it faster. True Bill Nye method: Check speed via GPS, note 3rd gear RPM @ 60MPH. Base your time off of when tach sweeps that RPM value. The tach has no lag, the only time it will be inaccurate is if you have wheel spin or clutch slip which you don't have to worry about. Yes I'm fun at parties in case you were wondering

Big brake kit is gonna be waaaaay overkill. OEM rotors and OEM pads or a bit more aggressive pad will be fine. Maybe a EBC rotor and pad combo if you wanna get crazy.

Best 0-60 my brother got with his 1.8 running 12lbs of boost on MS2PNP was 4.96. He has launch control and got a really good run. I'd be happy with 5.4 since you're having to shift two times as you said. Hell of a lot faster than my stock 1.6 that did an 8.8

I had a 270bhp Flyin Miata fm2 gt28/t3 hybrid turbo, 440cc injectors and link ECU, fm turbo exhaust etc.. This sounds so different! My turbo intake and whoosh was so much louder, that sounds so much like a JR Supercharger

5.4sec is really respectable for a Miata. That's around the same as a 3.2L E36 M3 (the 321hp one which sadly you guys in the US didn't get), or even slightly quicker. It's also the same as a 2010 Mercedes S500, and that has a 5.5L V8 with 388hp.

The old Challenger RTs were about 5.5 for manual and 5 speed auto, the new A8 trans challengers are 5.1 or lower depending on which gear ratio you have.

You can get a linear TPS from and e36 bmw, but you'd need an adaptor for your throttle body. An easier option is to get a throttle body from an auto NA miata with the variable throttle position sensor attached. Its a direct bolt on to the intake manifold. The only thing you'd have to do is some wiring. The stock connector (3 terminal) will not fit the vTPS of the auto miata (4 terminal). I run MS2 V3.0 with this set up.

I liked this video, and I think that going under the 5 seconds isn't that difficoult. You just need a half of a second less, and currently you have to shift twice to reach 60 mph. I'm sure that if you get that longer rear-end (in order to only shift once) with a higher RPM "shifting point", you can brake the 5 seconds barrier. I suggest you to absolutly get the launch-control, in order to build boost, help with the launch, mabye shoot some flames...(for that I'm pretty sure you'll need an Antilag System)...and new brakes. I'm waiting so much for the Lifted Miata Supercharger install video 😍

@Gingium If you have a Megasquirt on the car, then you should be able to raise your rev limiter on your Miata. My STS prepped autocross '90 Miata has it's rev limiter set to 7600 RPM. That will net you 61-62mph on 225/45/15's. No need for the 2-3 shift. That should save you a couple tenths right there...

If you have the 1.8L engine, the diff is a bit stronger, you can throw like 230hp at it and you'll be fine.
With my 6 speed gearbox i have to shift from second to third at around 50mph, i have the Torsen 2, 3.9 ratio.. I hope your 5 speed will stay alive.. I destroyed 2, 5 speed gearboxes on 275 WHP.

@Gingium I think it would be really cool if you could find a way to do a rx-7, 4 pot conversion to molly. And use the overly aggressive hawk pads you have on the rx-7 for molly's future track days.
Need to throw some bags of sand back there to help the wheels grip better, that thing is just so damn lightweight. (If you're going for 0-60 or 1/4 mile.)
in my experience... mostly with v8 rear wheel drive cars... when you approach 10:1 power to weight ratio at the wheels, you are in the right territory. more and you start getting into trouble.... financial/legal/body work and pulling bits of tree and grass out of your bumper trouble

Let the temps drop a little bit and optimize your shifting (which isn't that bad to begin with) and I could see you getting into the lower 5s easily. Either way, the car sounds great!
