  • Back at the usual spot at the dump this time with a few nice bottles but looks like I hit a bit of a sparse patch so I came back the next day to give it another go and also went to another spot in my hunt for some nice bottles from South Wales.
    Here is the link to my video where I found the 'Dinna Forget' page:

    Digger 73 here from Sheffield you've got a lot to learn 73 is when I started digging get in the very bottom of the bank and work in patiently you won't miss anything and you won't cover undug tip which I hate I've had so much stuff on so called dug out tips using this tactic

    • @VintageParagonUk
      @VintageParagonUk  3 года назад +1

      Hey Barry, I usually do get to the bottom as that is where the lovely seam is on this tip and follow it up the hill, there has been a few occasions where it was a little too deep for me on my own or not enough time but that is okay, I don't think there will be anything too special here as it is a small mining town dump, you never know though. this dig seemed to be in a bit of a dead zone though but that is how it goes sometimes.

    • @VintageParagonUk
      @VintageParagonUk  3 года назад +1

      Thanks that means a lot, I really enjoy your videos😊 I think I am quite lucky here and they come out of the ground in great condition so usually bottle brushes do the job but a quick soak in brick acid usually gets off any remaining rust and crud 👍 I have a little pile of bottles there that are complete but not as interesting but I cant bring myself to re bury a perfectly good bottle again, I think maybe one day I will go back and get it 😂 I like finding the little bits and pieces too, thanks for watching, I am glad you liked it 🙂

    The perfume bottle with the nice pattern would make a lovely cookie stamp and the talcum is like a spider's web in glass. The shade is very familiar, it is from a wall sconce my neighbor has them in her hall. All the houses around here are late Victorian, Edwardian like mine or very early 1920's. Any medicine bottles you find are interesting to me because I am a pharmacist. I also do canning so I like to see the old pickle and sauce bottles .I do worry that you have to dig so far down because of the risks of a cave-in. I am sure you are very careful, but still? Look forward to the next hole!

    • @VintageParagonUk
      @VintageParagonUk  3 года назад

      Thanks Tara, my first thought was the lights along the front of the stage in a theatre but I don't think there was anything like that around this area. A cave in is always in the back of my mind when it gets past my head height so I go extra carefully and try to avoid it if I can. I will leave the deeper areas for when I have some company, just in case 👍

    09:38 From what I've learned watching other videos, bottle digging is like travel: It's not all about the destination, but the journey. If you're not enjoying the whole experience, don't do it. Life is much too short, as many people learned this past year. I thought you did very well with your finds. I like how you stop & show them during the video, and you're not just showing the bottles, but everything. Perhaps if you had a partner, it might make the process more enjoyable. Just thinking out loud...
