six trillion years in bandori: the hardest old school level (seriously, wtf, those flicks and slides are hellishly fast) six trillion years in sekai: a stepping stone to the upper levels (and yes, it is almost identical to the bandori level, expert to expert diff)
as a new person to pjsk (and mobile rhythm games in general) but a veteran in other vsrgs, i found the "button strat" where you over-exaggerate your hand movement to actually be really helpful also treating every note as a flick note feels like illegal advice but it works so well
Tbh flicks can be fun, if they’re used right. For example I really like circus panic (master). Just when they’re not they suck extremely hard. Like I want to die levels of bad. (Talking about you dappou rock master) Also I’m a chronic up-only flicker lol, like it’s only up. Idk feels easier for me.
I mean imo PJSK really nailed the flick, they're not too hard and satisfiying to hit, unlike in like cytus 2, love live, bandori, idolmaster, rotaeno, D4DJ, and such
Man, cleaning your screen and minimising screen friction has been a PAIN as an Arcaea player. Unlike in normal scroll games like PJSK, Bandori, or perhaps even Phigros, Arcaea has arcs, basically sky hold notes (as the game is 3D). The arc patterns get so wild sometimes that unless I take good precautions, I could actually end up with some burning on my fingers on arc-heavy songs. But it is oh-so satisfying to hit arc patterns when your fingers just slip and slide across the screen.
I also recommend trying finger sleeves for people's who's finers stick to the screen. Although some people may not like them it could others. They.were a life saver for me.
i second the finger sleeves! only for tempered glass screen protectors though (or no screen protector at all). personally, finger sleeves on matte displays are a bit too smooth and sensitive for my tastes.
PJSekai's literally has the most fun flick mechanic in mobile rhythm games, just above Phigros I never get why people hated it so much, you can flick it sideways, downwards, it works either way. Like streams of flick notes always got me salivating DAMN 💀
3:02 this is what i used to do, i stopped doing this because despite my fingers gliding smoother, it sometimes doesn’t register hold or flick notes. i now hold my fingers against my clothes for a few seconds, which works pretty well
I tried a matte screen protector back when I was *really* addicted to the game, around the time I started playing. I played so much that I got friction burns on my fingertips. I ended up switching back to a glossy screen protector in the end, but the matte one definitely did make a substantial difference in registering flicks.
Be careful when treating all notes like flick notes. It works a lot of the time, but if you treat a hold like a flick and it isn't, you'll miss that note.
I love flicks as you actually don't need to flick that fast or far for it to register so i can legit just tap to a slight (i legit mean ever so slightly) slide and boom it registers and i save a lot of movement. with that being said I'm a believer in cool > FC and a cool FC is even better so i always do extremely flashy movements and i even make my hands go over and under one another very often
In some games like Phigros or Lanota, the flicks will count if you do the flick movement instead of most idol games having the "tap and then flcik" type of movement, since it makes the game a bit more challenging if i'm correct or not. Though it takes a while until you are able to flick the tap flick notes, it isn't as easy as it is in games like Phigros or Lanota or any other rhythm game that isn't idol. Most Idol Games like BanG Dream! and Project Sekai always use the mechanic of tap then flick since it makes the game more fair to play compared to games that have flick notes when you do the movement instead of tapping then flicking, In serious note, you can always practice flicking notes and you'll see the improvement.
I am SO grateful, flicks are definitely one of the hardest parts for me and I for the life of me couldn't get my fingers to alternate the flicks between different sides... Now I know to just do both sides as flicks 😂
You don't know how many times I lost APs because of ONE "Wrong Way", even though I 100% flick in the correct direction. The worst experience was when I got 1 wrong way on Melt Master, and I still don't have it AP until now 😭 EDIT: I AP'ed MELT MASTER RAHHHH
I hate flicks but at the same time, I really like them. When I played D4DJ for the first time, it felt kinda boring because there were no flicks, so I found the manual mode and even though it’s much harder, it’s a lot more fun.
I love flicks. I also love hearing how other people tackle hard patterns so I can test out different play styles and see what approaches feel more fluid for different tracks
Flicks are okay, I only say i hate flicks when i get 1! Miss out of 293928 perfects because of a flick note at the side of the screen 😭 i even flicked them but they just dont register sometimes
very helpful video!! i rlly like this series!! another suggestion for your later videos could be the "two notes hiding as one" type... im top 100 in ranked match yet i still mess them up everytime.. good video notheless!!
i havent watch this but IT SO TRUE the damn flick note are a pain. now im going to watch it Edit: alright alright not going to lie but that are going to help a lot of new people that are going to join the game. keep the good work up!
For me what worked best for getting used to flicks was using thin gloves, they help a TON and make everything feel smooth. Same thing if you've played some arcade games like Chunithm.
good video. something important to note is that flicks work a tad bit differently between ios and android! for android players: depending on your device, flicks will be considerably more "sticky", meaning that flicks may register as "late" in some scenarios. you can mitigate this by setting your offset to a negative value. this balances out the "stickiness" of the flicks due to notes coming later than they do without offset. good luck!
I'm a big advocate for the matte screen. Personally, as an artist, it's much more pleasant to draw on a matte screen, as you get more precision and accuracy. This applies to rhythm games, too :)
THANK YOU! i started playing this game almost 3 weeks ago and by FAR my biggest problem is the flicks. also i have started getting more full combos for some hard mode songs which is very nice :3 songs like: marbleblue (hard), sekai-chan (hard), the intense voice of hatsune miku (hard) i am trying to get fc on yamin and whats up pop (both hard) currently so wish me luck 🥲
Inwards directional flicks at the end of continuous bending slides sucks even further since the system around 3rd anniversary. It should have something to do with judgement adjustments that narrows down the horizontal tolerances to accommodate traces * Somehow resorted to the "slightly rubbing forward" (i.e. more pressurized tapping) style for separated flicks like in Lost and Found
One game I like that has Flicks as part of the gameplay is Rhythm Heaven for the DS, there are many minigames (aka songs) that the player needs to flick to make something like firing a stick to asemble a piece, cutting vegetables, jumping and more. Note that not all minigames requires flicks and some minigames need other actions aside from flicking.
that thing with the short and long notes is the one that gives me the most trouble anyway i feel like using finger sleave if you have is a cheaper and simpler way to prevent finger stick
If you have problem with sticky finger, I think the better solution is to use finger sleeves. I have the same problem of my fingers got stuck hard into screen and those sleeves help me a lot and they're also cheap to buy as well
Instead of buying all this fancy stuff just go to the doller store and get phone gloves thats what i use make your fingers zoom across the screen like an oil slick
Dance orchestra is definitely very heavy, but interesting, with the flicks There’s a few on expert (lvl 24) but on master (lvl 28) I’d say it adds like 3 combinations with flicks that are helpful to practice. The reason I don’t like flicks sometimes is coz I play with my device on my lap, and if I’m not in the most perfect position, my flick motions don’t register (it’s very painful, lost so many fcs and aps to this
I tried using finger sleeves but that made my performance on spam notes worse, because I found that I need the friction to cancel the momentum of my fingers for side-to-side motion. good thing my screen protector has already been scratched so much that it feels smoother now. what makes flicks hard for me is when they're very densely packed and more likely to ignore your inputs. you'll either choose flicking wide and slow or short and quick but will still have missed flicks. I usually find these ridiculous flick groups on games like phigros/phira. In project sekai, I could play "Tell Your World" over and over again just for that satisfying flicks.
My hand gestures are just like yours , index fingers and rest of my fingers are open , since i play on phone my middle finger always hits the pause button and im losing my mind cuz of it
I'm a new player (been playing for almost two months) and when i first first started, i loved flicks. But now that I'm being able to fc hard and expert songs they piss me off so bad 'cause the amount of times that I've lost a combo because of ONE SINGLE FLICK NOTE is so annoying.
On my god, no wonder how I play doesn’t look like people who make videos haha my play style is like the exaggerated one, but I have long nails so I have to Also it’s kind of funny because I have the opposite problem I have rly dry hands and I actually prefer to keep my screen smudged up it helps me glide smoother I’m pretty good with flicks, but sometimes they straight up just don’t register and it’s so annoying 😭
I think it depends on how the rhythm game executes flicks, and Project Sekai is... a bad but not the worst one due to the bad side flick introduction and design. Not until you find out Lanota ones going to make you suffer especially cyanine Master Project Sekai also has a very lenient flick movement so most of the time it's just a note of slight movements If I have to say the worst mechanism in rhythm games, it'd probably be mine, it ruins the purpose of the game and makes charts unnecessarily harder
As long as it is Leo/Need’s songs, I don’t care about the difficulty. (By the way I only miss six trillion years before fcing all the Leo/need songs. )
Holy gigasheesh was i the only one who didn't know i could flick the normal one at any direction!? Im an ideot no wonder ppl did it soooo easily when my fingernails were dying .
I just uninstalled the game today for not being able to get all perfect as a beginner 💀 jk the game could be super addictive and my brother is already addicted 😭
flicks: 😐
directional flicks: 😒
golden flicks: 🤤 (they sound so crunchy)
Sometimes directional flicks are okay, bc they’re charted in a way where its more suitable to flick it that specific direction.
the funny thing is that directional flicks (specifically sekai) can just be normal flicks. half the time it wont register as a wrong way flick
id eat golden flicks

Bandori flicks are just straight on wierd I have to deliberately flick to trigger it, while in pjsk lightly flicking works
don't forget about the master chart that IS part of the upper levels (extremely chaotic)
as a new person to pjsk (and mobile rhythm games in general) but a veteran in other vsrgs, i found the "button strat" where you over-exaggerate your hand movement to actually be really helpful
