Great video Dr Furlan! I have been in chronic pain since 2022, mainly cervical spine pain. I have bought your great book "Conquer Chronic Pain" in order to manage my pain. It is easier said than done. Even though I tried several relaxation techniques I am still not able to achieve CNS desensitization. In my case I do have nociceptive pain due to nerve compression (C5, C6, C7) and cervical facet joint arthropathy mainly at C7-T1 bilaterally. I struggle sleeping every night even after doing deep breathing. I tried neuropathic, opioids in the past, but they give me bad side effects. I stopped taking them. My whole body is in chronic inflammation. Therefore I try to ride my push bike on the track, go to the gyn for very light workouts, walk and go to the swimming pool. The physical activities do help, but several times I get flare ups that eventually slow me down. The ketamine discussion sounds interesting, but like any other medications, there are always side effects and whether this can be an ongoing therapy. Here in Australia I do not think any doctor would prescribe this. Thank you.
This is an interesting overview, but it does seem to focus more on the injected versions of treatment as a default vs. the nasal/oral or microdosing. I'd love more info that focuses on microdosing.
Could Memantine be a safer option - wouldn’t the NMDA receptor antagonist effects be similar to Ketamine? Tried to get a prescription for it - psychiatrist said nope. Great video, but interesting, Im so intolerant to opioids… (Osteoarthritis, pancreatitis is my condition)
