Your videos are great to watch, and it really looks like you "enjoy the ride". I think you are doing what so many people wished they could do. But work, dogs, family, commitments, obligations, health, $, etc., and a bit of self control restrain us from doing them. Carry on!
Yeah I really do enjoy my trips. Even if it's just an overnighter. I spent the majority of my life working jobs where I had very little time for me, or my family for that matter. Adventures were kept to vacation time or the occasional 3 day weekend if I was lucky enough to get one. I was basically married to work especially when I spent over 20 years as an industrial maintenance supervisor and also doing the work as a millwright, building, rebuilding and reconfiguring older machinery. I made a lot of personal sacrifices for my career and now I'm doing my best to make up for all the things I missed out on. Having to take early retirement because of physical issues may have been the best thing to have happened. My budget is really tight but I manage to scrape out the little adventures I do and I'm fortunate to have a wife that supports my need to be out there when I can. I only hope I can influence other folks my age to get out and give it a try. It's really freeing for you mind and soul. As always thanks for watching and your comments. I appreciate you. All the best, Tony ✌
Brother, you have me boo hooing right along with you. Those group of friends you have (Like Minded) are just precious and are hard to come by in the times we are living in, my Heart is smiling real big right now and just so you know I have the saying down pat now, The Best thing for your inside "IS OUTSIDE"😂
I know I’m a year late but I just found this channel. Great series! I enjoyed it a lot. I live about 200 yards from the Katy trail between Herman and Marthasville, so I ride it a few times a week. This is the best video of any posted that showcases the trail and what it has to offer. Very entertaining too! Thanks for the great video
Great video!!! I'm hoping to have some of these great experiences. I just got my BIKE! It only took 4 years but I did it! Thank you sir for being such a great inspiration. 👍🏾🤝🏾✌🏾
Thank you Christopher. I really appreciate your comment. Congrats on your new bike and I really hope you have a great time with it. I love my trips. Even the overnight trips can be a blast. Best of luck, Tony ✌
Thanks Mr. TONY! Your response means alot to me. I'm back again to watch this video because it's a great feel good production. Thank you again for your time responding to my comment. ✌🏽
Great ride Tony looking forward to next year we have got good riding here mid September to mid November the old men can usually get a few days off thanks again for a good time to you Jenns and the rest of the guys
Thank you so much Brad for making this such an unforgettable adventure. There's no way it could have been any better because of y'all. I look forward to the next time my friend.
Man half through and I am choked up as I think on such kindness that really DOES EXIST in the world and YOU SIR are definitely one who shines that kindness so it’s NO SURPRISE that it returns back to you
I hope you get the opportunity Jack. It's a great trail full of good people that I met along the way. I would guess 60% or more were people around my age out there having a blast. Thanks for watching.
That really did shock me Chris. This guys dropped whatever they were doing or took off work to drive good distances on a Friday just to surprise me on my last evening on the trail. For a group of people to go to that much trouble for me really touched me as you could tell. That was amazing.
After watching this series 3 times, you’ve inspired me to create an adventure of my own. Ft Worth Amtrak to St Louis, then St Louis Amtrak to Kansas City. Ride the Rock Island Trail to the Rock Island Spur, then pick up the Katy Trail in Windsor. Ride the Katy Trail to Machens and Amtrak from St. Louis back to Ft Worth. All coinciding with the week of the Peddler’s Jamboree next year. Maybe I’ll see ya there.
We''ll be there in one August, for our 2nd trip on the Katy. Defiantly going to ride the Peddler Jamboree next year, thanks for introducing it through your video.
That pie was delicious too Mark. Lol. Thank you for making this an unforgettable adventure. I look forward to getting back up there and riding again. ✌
That's awesome that you just happened to be filming when they rolled up so that you could capture that moment for later :) So great that you have such great friends in MO! Cool that you could see the tandum bike folks from Utah again too Tony.
I had been videoing many of the communities I rode into so people could see the kiosks with the town name and this was no different until I got closer. What a suprise. If I'd been a few minutes earlier it certainly would have ruined the suprise.
how nice they all came out for a meet up! / i always put my home made pies in wal mart packaging hahaha/ such a fun trail ride thanks for taking us with you
Thanks potatothorn. Those guys really and truly surprised me. I never expected anyone to go out of their way like this just to do something nice for me. ✌.
Lol, a little modesty calling it a small part. That was so awesome as you could see from my reaction. I'm still amazed even this much later and I had such a great time. From now on all my adventures will be compared to this one and it will be really hard to beat thanks to y'all. I can't wait for an opportunity to get back up there. Thanks Jens. ✌
I really enjoyed this trip, Tony! That was such a kind gesture from your friends and it was evident it touched your soul! Now how about that video on why you took the Gary Fisher bike. I’m curious!
My whole life I've always been a giver and very few times has that ever been returned without someone expecting more in return so this really hit my soft spot. I'll try to get to that video this week and I'm sure it will be helpful to a few future bikepackers. ✌
Hey Tony, what a nice unexpected surprise to see your friends on the trail! It's a small world indeed. Special moments that will last a lifetime. Great trail and video Tony! Take care and stay safe, Steve
I never expected a thing when Old Man Fat Bike asked about my itinerary early in the ride. He said he wanted to follow along. I was shocked to find out he had this planned. If I had been a little faster I would have ruined it. Anyway those guys were great and made the ride unforgettable.
Very heartwarming to see your friends surprise you and to see the overwhelming emotion it brought out. My wife and I love your videos, she especially loves how you miss Michelle every time your out (I think she has a little crush). My favorite is seeing what you eat while your out lol. Love your videos.
Thank you Galan. I really appreciate you and your wife watching and the kind words. That's what keeps me going with this channel. Take care and all the best, Tony ✌
Thanks Mike. You guys made this completely unforgettable as I'm sure you can see from my reaction and I can't wait to get back up there again. Thanks for sharing your footage. It really made the scene work well. WHAT A BLAST ✌
Enjoyed this series a lot. You'd fit right in with a bunch of good ol' boys from Bama! I am anxious to see the bike video. Honestly, that is what caught my eye and made me watch one of your videos in the first place. Then I ventured out to watch several more and ended up subscribing. I've enjoyed it and glad that I did!
This definitely was a great experience and I'm still surprised that these guys went so far out of their way like this. Amazing! Now time to start working on the follow up about the bike. Thanks for watching and atb, Tony
@@BluecollarBackcountry People have no clue how much work goes into these videos. Editing is the longest part, for sure. The filming is the easy part. 😂
Hi Daniel and thanks for watching. I use the Ride With GPS app on my phone to keep up with my stats but having battery problems I used my old Garmin GPS this time which failed on the last day. I was pretty bummed about that but I had such a great time in this ride I really didn't care. With this bike I have had an overall ride average of 11.2 - 11.4 mph and my overall average is all I go by. The main thing was that this old 26" did a surprisingly good job. Atb, Tony
