Thank you for writing and widely sharing this book, Robin. I'm reading it now and really appreciate the info and insights gained on your transformative journey of food awareness. This is so important because many people are seeking and need support as they learn and make changes in their own nutrition and habits of living in quest of better health and deeper connections.
Much respect for the donation approach to the money question. It's so easy to allow the norms of capitalism to take over, especially now. I can only imagine the offers that have come your way and you keep sticking to your ethical system. Good stuff, I'll check out the book since I know you went deep into the topic, lived experience.
It’s incredible how he has access to so much money but he doesn’t want it and loves to live a simple and humble lifestyle. It reminds me of how we come to this world naked and we return naked. ❤❤❤
I was glad to see you finding and eating nightshade berries along the way. I am Korean. When I was young, I lived in the countryside, and I would pick nightshade berries from the bushes and eat them as a snack. It was very sweet and delicious, but when I tried it as an adult, it didn't taste very good. Maybe it's because my taste buds have become accustomed to processed foods. Watching your videos always gives me joy. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your journey Robin 💚 Our family has been walking our own very alternative path to healing though lifestyle and it's inspirational to see your thoughts and experiments in living with intention. I'm excited to check out your book. We tried wild foraging for the first time last year and it was amazing. It's so funny looking back at pictures from our van life chapter. It was really hard to keep enough food for three on hand, yet I can now see we were surrounded by food! 💚
The ineffable joy in your eyes as you sniffed that cookie is a moment of perfection! All your meals look magical. The beautiful red nasturtium blossoms, I could almost taste their peppery zing in the live salad. Magnifico!
Even though your lifestyle has gotten more extreme than I personally want, I still find myself inspired! I had this idea in my head that long-distance hiking=using more plastic and eating pre-packaged meals. It's cool to see how you prioritize your own health and the health of the planet, without having to stop adventuring. If anyone's reading this and very bored, you could edit out the chewing sounds haha... I didn't watch the whole thing because of the chewing.
You really scored with those nasturtium flowers. My nasturtium didn't yield that much flowers this year. So, I've just been eating the leaves. I'm making a similar salad with greens from my garden that I've supplemented with greens from the farmer's markets.
Good timing for thus. Ad or architectural digest did an article in September about minimalists that enjoy the ma or energy of ma and are unusually furniture free. Stay you stay thoughtful!
I didn't know Hartorn was edible. Learned something new. That's one thing I'm loving about watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
I used to drive the 101 from Brookings to San Francisco almost every month! But, we've moved. So bummed to not be able to catch you on your journey, but sending you safety and love on your journey! ❤
Sometimes the most profound and sincerest things one can say are: THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU, ROB! I say this with sincerity, deep kindness and love to you ok also a tonne of admiration 😉🤩😍
That's such a wonderful life, man! I truly admire the idea of simplicity, and your lifestyle aligns perfectly with it. Hopefully, I can live as simply as you in the future. For now, I need to focus on finishing my school curriculum. After that, I’ll definitely take a gap year to explore the real world and try walking along my country. Thank you for being such an inspiration!
i really enjoyed this video. i love your diet. i was having a bicycle trip on the island corsica last month and i could have used some of your food ideas there. i liked to eat simple couscous meals with pesto and vegetables and nuts. for breakfast i liked to have preboild eggs, teas, cheese and bread and a yoghurt. outdoors food really tastes great and i also found i was even eating healthier than normal..?!
Still up to your fun lifestyle experiments. I walk a similar road but less committed than you and not broadcast to the world. I really admire your committment to opening up people's sense of what is possible by demonstrating it. Your year of foraging\growing everything is still one of the most impressive things I've ever seen here on youtube. I do lots of hidden guerilla gardening, spreading food trees on unused public land mostly, and work as a decorative gardener and have worked as a veggie farmer. But I want to buy raw land and plant food trees and gardens and share the abundance. I want to live the example too, but more quietly. Gotta have some money so I'm thinking crafts, doesn't go bad like food, though I mostly want to grow nuts, which stay good a long time because they're amazing :)
Cool . Love how we have choices how we can live and what we consume. Eat whole real foods , good ingredients, local foods….fresh as possible. Just makes sense right 😊
I had been wondering about your "road diet". Your food looks delicious and beautiful-- thanks for sharing! I loved this video, and as a direct result, I wrote and mailed a letter to a local Mennonite farmer to sign up for her herd share. No more factory-farmed Costco yogurt for my family!
I will buy your book once I have a job again. I am currently in an in between portion of life and have to wait to get a job. But I am looking forward to reading your book.❤
Muchas Gracias Robin! For a such a great gift, I love your channel and wish I could be out the system and live like u. I was making my breakfast this morning I did just like u. I care so much about our PACHA MAMA just much like u. save travel....
Omgosh Robin! I was just thinking about how u could be doing the other day and then I come across this video today…Glad to know you’re still alive and thriving great. Thank you so much for sharing what u did in this video and about your book…Your food looks beautiful. 🌸🌾🌱
I so appreciate everything you do... I love that you share your knowledge because I always learn new things. Big hugs and love to you on your journey Robin
I just wanted to say thank you for your continued inspiration. I purchased your book as you have revived my interest in foraging, i want to know more and do better
You r amazing, I'm the same as you, I just don't travel, my garden has lots of food, herbs, vegetables, berries, I love intermittent fasting to, I also eat moringa , thanks for sharing your awesome healthy life, all the best 😊
I've just found your channel and am delighted by it. I'm curious about things like cooked eggs and rice being kept out of the refrigerator for hours or even days. I'm trained to think anything like that left out of the fridge for 3 - 4 hours should be tossed out... So that's a bit eye-opening for me. The foraging information is fascinating! Thank you and good luck.
Eggs are pretty fine outside the fridge. The rice thing is kind of rare but it's possible to get sick from it. Fact is Robin is getting so much vitamin D he is almost bullet proofing his immune system. Most minor infections probably won't even register.
I wanted a break from all the election anxiety right now in the US, and thought I will check back on the journey here! It's definitely helped calm myself a bit and to think about things in a different perspective for sure even if things don't go as I would prefer.
Where my permie farm is there is not the same types of forage options available. It’s interesting to watch your video. A lot of foods that are native are fleshy and astringent or tasteless. There’s more paddock edible weeds than roadside food. I have access to sorrel, dock, mallow and flat weed in the paddock with naughty blackberries creeping in. I have puff ball fungus, grass tree leaf tips, emu plums and blood root. None of these native foods taste ‘nice’. Zamia palm need water treatment so you don’t get poisoned. There’s Turkey tail in the forest park nearby. The only native food in abundance is the kangaroo! Thanks for sharing your journey ! Your meals look enriching and delicious !
@ I’ve read guides to my region and I agree there is native food that many people enjoyed . I’m just saying it’s quite different to the temperate forests of the us
Thank you for your information, inspiration, openness, and honesty. I also strive to live a life like you and I sometimes feel like I could still do better but we are not always gonna be able to be totally plastic free or sugar free or whatever free 100% of the time but we can try our best and live in the most balanced way to nature that we are capable of in any given moment, and that changes depending on what is going on in our lives. Seeing you in this way both makes me want to keep going on this journey as well as to offer myself grace

The indigenous people of your country lived for eons, before settlers showed up, on the forgeable tucker that mother nature provides.
