Utopia😵💫one of world's best metal rec.stores, indeed (i visited quite a few in US & Europe to be able to compare, he-he) last time was there ca.4-5 years ago... evoking good old memories, thanx man))
Each time you've done a repressed records visit i've been shouting at the screen 'grab that one'! Spot on video mate, I understand what you mean about those stores that stock literally everything, you do a bit of digging and you find some gems. I went to a record fair in Norwich the other week and managed to snag Abbath debut for a tenner amongst some Phil Collins albums so it pays to dig deep! Great shout on that Altar of Gore!
My man, I want to thank you from the bottom of my metal heart for introducing me to MALIGNANT ALTAR!¡¡! Their Realms of exquisite morbidity cd is a brutal pounding of absolute power. Keep up the great work my man!¡¡!
Always love a good ol’ dig with you Simon… & it looks like it was a success mate! Not sure if I’ve told you before… but I’ve been in ‘Utopia Records’ myself… I loved it in there! I spent a few days in Sydney whilst holidaying over there & found the time to pop in!🤘🏻
Successful trip into the city for you. I would have been all over some of those speed and thrash OGs you flicked past. Very cool Warhead record. Looking forward to seeing your OG 80s vid🤘I need to travel up and go for a dig with you one day.
Yeah man, come up! I went into Papa Disquo but litearlly nothing had changed, so I didn't film anything. That Tyrant is in my 'maybe' pile, but if it goes it goes.
I actually know one of the members from Innumerable Forms.... but not because of being shared fans of metal. He actually has no idea I listen to death metal quite frequently haha.
Just too much to choose from,it'd do my head in trying to decide and to try not to Obliterate my bank account!!! excellent video, these trips are most enjoyable and remind me of the days before I mail ordered everything...glad you included the shot of the beer
Selfless is a great album. Godflesh has a new album coming this year I’m hyped for. Supposed to be in the style of Pure, another great post Streetcleaner album. Check those out.
Awesome metal shopping trip going to see 4 metal bands live in April 11 the ritz in Raleigh nc 1.Carcass 2.Creeping Death 3.Municipal Waste 4.Sacred Reich
Great stuff Simon. Always nice to see some album flipping. A lot of great albums in reach for you, but can't buy them all. I had to upgrade to the vinyl of that Innumerable Forms myself. Hope that things will get back to normal, so every format is ready at the same time, so we can avoid all the double dipping. Don't know if I like that Majesties that much, but have to give it a go, not a big fan of the Gothenborg sound. Funerus is great one. Cheers.
Cheers mate! Lots of good stuff in the racks for sure. I do hope we can get LPs on time soon... The new conjureth isn't expected until "maybe 2024" they said, but the cd is out now!
Nice vid man. Funerus played a few songs at Bloodlust in 2003 when Incantation had their car accident and could only play a few songs with stand in drummers
Very cool shopping trip Simon you got some bands that I'm not familiar with but I did see some Slipknot and Slayer at one of the record stores you were at who I'm more familiar with but still very cool records that you have there.🤘🤘😈😈
Don't let this video fool you! What you aren't seeing is the stack of LPs and Blu-rays I sold in the last month to afford it all (plus a small cheque from RUclips for doing these videos). Didn't spend a cent from my day to day account, so my wife will be happy lol
@@ExplosiveAction With your Blu-ray/DVD collection you could do an online rental store, even with everything streaming you must have 100's of titles that are not available to stream. Utopia Records entrance being below street level, find that interesting as someone who lives in Southern California/San Diego having never been to New York. Repressed Records looks to be the better shop though.
Utopia and Repressed are both great shops, just for different reasons. I couldn't rent my stuff out, would be too paranoid about getting it back in bad condition!
That Thorr's Hammer EP is fantastic.
Yeah I was just reading up on them!

You're welcome! It's a great store

Cheers mate! Haha there's a heap of good stuff in the Repressed racks, thankfully I have a lot of it too!
God Damn it, I wish I knew about that Megadeth instore signing at Utopia. So would of been there to meet the thrash legend Mustaine himself!
Yeah they were pushing it for a few days, I was more concerned about not being able to shop haha
My man, I want to thank you from the bottom of my metal heart for introducing me to MALIGNANT ALTAR!¡¡! Their Realms of exquisite morbidity cd is a brutal pounding of absolute power. Keep up the great work my man!¡¡!
So damn good! I just got their new split LP with Gosudar to check out too.

Oh snap! When was this? Come back and I'll take you on a dig!
@@ExplosiveAction back in 2001 if my memory serves me well! I’m on my way mate…
This was fun. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice haul!
Thanking you! It's brown rice and water for a while now lol

Oh man them records shops looks great - id be happy as a fly on shit in there
Love record shopping!
I actually know one of the members from Innumerable Forms.... but not because of being shared fans of metal. He actually has no idea I listen to death metal quite frequently haha.
Haha! You should just quietly show up one day with one of his records asking for a signature lol
Great video to start a slow, dreary Sunday in Ontario! Makes me want to visit Sydney one day.
Cheers! Come on down (under)

I always grab a beer after these days! Need one lol. I mailorder more than I buy in stores, but I do love a good shopping trip.
I have to thank you for introducing me to majiesties. Its an amazing album. Wish melodic death metal didnt degrade into screamo
Hear, hear! A very good album, glad you dig it.
Selfless is a great album. Godflesh has a new album coming this year I’m hyped for. Supposed to be in the style of Pure, another great post Streetcleaner album. Check those out.
Thanks mate, will do!

Awesome metal store. I'd like to stay in that place. Greetings from Guaranda-Ecuador.
Wow, my audience is quite international! Cheers!
Ulthar awesome albums mate 😊🤘🤘
Cheers!
I used to like a bit of Zeni Geva - Japanese noise rock
I've heard the name for years but never checked them out!
Nice vid man. Funerus played a few songs at Bloodlust in 2003 when Incantation had their car accident and could only play a few songs with stand in drummers
That's right! I knew they were here. I was even at that gig ... Throwing up in the carpark at the time
Haha well it was Blacktown RSL so you probably weren’t the only person out there hurling
Not my finest hour lol
Check out Abysme 'Strange Rites'.. fantastic album by the Guitarist/Vocalist on that Funerus album
Thanks for the recommendation!
keep it up man 🤘
Cheers!
Utopias clarence st days were there best i reckon
That's a little before my time. I loved the 636 George St stall with the cds in those strange vertical flipping racks
Man, I'd love to get my hands on Trick or Treat on Vinyl.
Was that in my footage somewhere?
@@ExplosiveAction yeah. Towards the beginning. Cool store.

Yes they were promoting Slipknot a bit yesterday as Knotfest was on in Sydney that night!
@@ExplosiveAction Oh That's cool
Thors Hammer are ancient brohhh. Good Doom Death.
Yeah one that passed me by entirety
That Funerus album is very good.
Yeah pretty stoked with that pickup.
@@ExplosiveAction love that StarGazer too.
Utopia also sells Madonna 🤦🏼♂️
Yeahhhhhh... A lot worse too lol. I guess it has helped them stay afloat all these years
I don't like any Sepultura after Chaos AD
Yeah same. I appreciate their new drummer and attempt to revitalise themselves, but I don't really care
@@ExplosiveAction yes, that drummer is wasted in that band
Wish I had the 💸 to buy all the albums I want! 😳

@@ExplosiveAction In Denver?
What do you mean, in Denver?
I feel dirty watching you resleeve
Oooh yeah, stuff it in there baby
Good haul! A shame about the Anthrax LP.
Pretty beaten up. The sticker said it played okay "with a light click" but meh.
