Steve is the only former member keeping Genesis music alive. Beautiful version...
YES!!!
Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins or Mike Rutherford rare to never played Genesis song again , Steve Hackett is the only one ... great 👍
Ray Wilson still does.
@@edwindichio1875 Big fan of Steve Hackett but Steve left Genesis whereas Phil and Mike and Tony stayed and played a lot of Genesis after that...a lot!! Rare to never makes very little sense to me. In any event, could we not praise Steve AND praise Phil and Mike and Tony and Peter and even Ray Wilson for his turn at the wheel. Is the only way to raise someone up by bringing someone down?
Mike plays Genesis songs on his gigs too.
Steve Hackett the true keeper of the Genesis flame.
What is wrong with you people? The mere fact that we get to close our eyes and listen to this song 40 years after the fact should be satisfying enough. Have you listened to the radio lately? Are you hearing music like this? No. Be thankful that we grew up in an era of REAL music!
So... by your logic, people should be thankful to hear a decent song just because there are some mediocre musicians? First, mediorcre musicians existed ALWAYS, it's not a recent thing. And second, what's wrong is that people has the right to expect something at the height of Hackett's standards. The truth is that this song is fine for a fan cover, but it's not half as good as Hackett can make it. People should ALWAYS be strict when it comes to music. I don't care if some radios play Selena Gomez nowadays, when I hear good musicians (such as the grest Hackett) I expect, at least, great music.
The whole choral mellotron thing(or whatever it is)is missing. Not sure how that can not be on here.
"People should ALWAYS be strict when it comes to music". what the fuck are you, Hitler? the music is to enjoy not to judge, i love genesis, rush, floyd and duran duran, any problem? relax bith is only music.
Not mellotron. It's a 12 string and harpsichord.
I think the Genesis version done earlier did use some sort of synthesizer, though. Tony banks plays all sorts of weird instruments. But I love this version because it is just real life instruments, so to speak.
Long life to GENESIS! Long life to HACKETT!!!
+Javier Beleni Forewer!...
brain Hackett when you play Bach The Ciaconne your a God
There is no word to discribe that incredible moment of Music. Just a Big "Thank you" for your talent, Mr Steve Hackett !!
EYE2EYE2003 I totally agree. Steve has done great work reproducing this old Genesis classic. He prides himself in making is covers of their old work better than the originals. It shows how he has progressed from his early 20’s.
@@jbytuna He's been adding to the prog community for over 50 years, now that's something to be happy about. I've been collecting all his albums that I find in my local record shop. I still have an entire lifetime to go and I'm not going to waste the opportunity to discover and enjoy prog.
Absolutely beautiful. The best Genesis work was done when Steve was contributing. He may not have had the songwriting ability of Banks and Rutherford but his contribution to the sound was massive, distinctive and unmistakable. Genesis were never the same after Steve left.
C’est bougrement vrai
Steve co wrote this song with banks so you are off at your first line. Think before you speak.
@@frankgarnevicus1187 Well you told him didn't you? Why so hostile? it's not a competition just enjoy this wonderful music.
@@batphink2655 I am not being hostile at all. I am smply restating a Steve Hackett interview. That one only contribution allowed on Wind and Wuthering was the main reason he left. Also consider whom Misunderstanding was really about just like their nod to Peter Gabriel at the end of Los Endos. I enjoy the music of all of them. I am simply also leaving it as a part of the band's history. I have followed Genesis since 1972 when I was 14. I am 65 now. Each period has its relevancy throughout just as did Phil Collins's run with Brand X with Percy Jones and the late John Goodsall. Why was Bank Statement a dud? I loved it. When did everybody suddenly become so sensitive?
I would disagree about his "not having the songwriting ability" as Tony and Mike.
Have you listened to Steve's vast catalogue of music since Genesis? He's a hell of a lot more prolific that's for sure. So many brilliant compositions.
Without a doubt, Steve has done his best to preserve Genesis’ music. It is his love for those days when creativity of the young must be preserved.
And just for fun, you MUST listen to Steve on his work with Alan Parsons on the old Walt Disney song “The Sorcerers’ Apprentice”
I'm 19 (almost 20) and I love Steve Hackett a lot 😊 Was just playing Wild Orchids this afternoon while it rained outside and was foggy. Very nice! ❤
have you heard Blue Child, an extra track from that album? one of my favourite from Hackett's recent works
I heard the album version of this from Trick of The Tail the first time in 1992 when my friend Eldon's older brother Gerald dubbed Duke and Trick of The Tail onto some blank cassette tapes I gave him. I had to get the CDs because I wore the dubbed tapes out listening to them so much. Entangled just picks you up and carries you away with it when you listen to and lose yourself in it.
Fantastic!
Exelent version. Thank you Mr. Hackett. All the best to you and other Genesis member. Fan from Warsaw.
The harmonies are mesmerizing. Whenever I need a moment of beauty in a maddening day, I revisit this artistry.
Wonderful harmonies. Jakko does a nice job on the lead vocal and the guitars of course, are spot on.
" Close our eyes and listen to this song Long life to GENESIS! My god, what an awesome song There is no word to discribe that incredible moment of Music amazing for ever I hear Angels on Earth..... Thank you "
Entangled is co-written by Steve Hackett and Tony Banks.
Simply put; this is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.... Steve - thank you SO much for keeping this number going. Surely the world can use much more of these..............
Love the twist in the end "thanks to our kindness and skill, you'll have no trouble until you catch your breathe and the nurse will present you the bill".
We are all lucky to be able to hear all the fantastic songs in the Genesis Revisited 2 Tour and to have such talented musicians.Get a ticket before it's too late!
What a great band line up Steve is working with now. I’m so glad these incredible songs are seeing a fresh new life.
After all these years this song still stirs many emotions from that time I saw Genesis in the late 1970's
Thank you for playing this, it took me right back to my own youth and my lifelong love of Genesis.
I still can't forget Steve's concert in Cracow (Poland) in 2003....So many years, but it was a perfect gig...Unforgettable. Real Artist.
My god, what an awesome song...amazing remake.
Wow! That was like a major flashback to early Genesis musical techniques. Now I see here where some more of the Genesis talent came from.
Un fenómeno este hombre. Pura sensiblilidad con la guitarra.
One of my favorite Genesis songs. Absolutely great and l love that Hackett keeps their music alive with his concert tour. However, this version adds nothing to the original and the majestic mellotron finale that makes this song truly amazing is sorely missing. 🙁
A beautiful, haunting song that is pure Albion.... A fairy tale lullaby that's bleak, distant as it is enchanting ...,
+Steven Stratton Agreed!!
+Katie Adams hi,happy new year! God I go on don't I ?
No, you are fine. I love hearing from people who have opinions about music and such.
One other thing. I write songs and play, so if you ever want to see lyrics and links or such just let me know and I can post.
See additional comments I posted to you.Steven Stratton
Hackett...unique as always!
Jakko's voice is just fitted. KC and Genesis dream. I have been living in happy decades.
his voice is kinda too propper, like he's a choir boy, peter gabriel didn't have the most pleasant voice but it was distinct and fitting for genesis. I don't like the new Crimson, they sing songs from all eras with all these unique vocal styles, Wetton's rough voice, Lake's and Burrel's dreamy voices and Belew's multiple styles, and they get boring when the same guy sings them the same way. I liked jakko when I first heard him but he's just a boring singer.
Beautiful... love this arrangement.... Steve is in my top ten of guitarists
+Mick Lomax Yessss!!!
superbe steve .....merci
Absolutely magnificent. 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼
Just saw him on Cruise to the Edge. He did a Storytellers Q&A and played 4 acoustic pieces. What an amazing player!
This is a beautiful rendition of this classic Genesis song! I love the new vocals!
This might be my favorite Steve Hackett/Hackett-related song! Thank you!
+John42ification yes it's his best one.
Our classical music teacher died and his son replaced him. That was In The Beginning, I heard on radio 2 in North Finistère coast. This new teacher let us study about Genesis, no flute ever but Peter’s😉. Entangled was the first one we listened to, first time I heard about Freud too! Thank you Mr Hackett, thanks Peter, +60 and I still sing, carrying you all life long. My english is...what it is🥴
Really enjoyable but I do miss the ending section with Mellotron, Taurus pedal and this amazing and mysterious Callas voice synth.
Alex Alex it was an arp pro soloist, and never owned by Marie Callas as far as I know! Great version, but only half the song without the best bit. The ending, as you say.
Just brilliant sounds phenomenal and looking at the lovely Amanda certainly isn't a chore and her voice is gorgeous! 👍😉
Agree with all below! Wonderful song. Seen Steve and band play it a few times, gets me each time.
Steve genial composer and awesome guitarist, best of Genesis.
wonderful.... brings back memories....
This was the song that introduced me to progressive/art rock and hooked me forever, all in a single stroke. Steve Hackett is truly the most underrated guitarist and creative genius in modern music. IMHO, that is.
Steve Hackett jeden z nejlepších kytaristů na světě. Os
Very nice to see ladies entangled in whatever they're entangled in. The magic takes another turn upwards when the Mellotron comes in at the end on the original though.
Live Steve's stuff. I hope one day he does it live and Roger King does the keyboard ending because he is another ave in Steve's band. The Foxtrot at 50 gig was superb.
Carrying the torch for Greg , Keith John & Chris -Thank You Steve !
This guy can sing HOW CAN I? Richi will be happy wherever he is .
Steve’s guitar playing gives me chills like no other. Magical.
I so Love this song - Magical, Truly Magical.
Un miracolo musicale. Ogni volta ho i brividi......
Genesis was really 3 different bands, not counting the original album. The 5 member group (Banks, Rutherford, Collins, Hackett, Gabriel), the 4 member group without Gabriel, and the 3 member without Hackett, all had their own unique sound which started with Progressive and ended with Commercial Pop.
The & I'm emphasizing the word THE best guitarist in the univers 💙 thank you Mr Hackett 👍
'Trick' is one of my favourite albums of all time.
This version lacks the 2 minutes instrumental outro. Which is imho one of the finest pieces of music ever made.
Trick of the Tail was the first album I heard of Genesis... and since then I am Genesis`s biggest fan
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! THERE ARE NO OTHER WORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS SONG!
+mightymeatmonsta Yessss!!!
This song is a CLASSIC, Katie! I believe it was done right after Peter Gabriel left. Amazing lyrics, beautiful music.
They don't make them like THIS anymore!
Very true.
Wunderschön.... einfach wunderschön.... 👍🔝😎
The magic guitar of STEVE creates a beautiful version of this lovely song....nothing less than the original...with all respect for PHIL.
It’s a shame that Mr Hackett is not invited / asked to join Genesis on their ”reunion tour” this autumn (if it will happen due to Corona). He could at least join them on some of the old songs. Can anyone tell me Why?! As far as I know, he would do it...
Steve Hackett has been doing more to keep the impact of Genesis alive than Genesis.
As I understand it ---Kim's artistry inspired this song...so beautiful-I am so sorry it did not work out for Kim and Steve-but that is their personal business--God Bless the Both!!!
If we can thank you we will. This is definitely not tired or ill.
Wot Can you say !!Awsome ,Not of this World , God bless you steve
Amanda Lehmann is wonderful.
And teamed with Jakko, the current lead singer of King Crimson. I love this version!
Rien d'autre à dire que c'est une merveille musicale
👏👌😲🥲😉🤩👋✌❣🇧🇪
@@anne-mariebridoux8456 👍👍👍👍
amazing for ever
Beautiful and fantastic song , i wait for Steva Hacketta in Poland
Amanda looks different without a guitar. I love her voice. Still looks great, too!!! ;)
Jakko is also married to former King Crimson drummer Michael Giles' daughter
Love this guy's voice. He sounds so idealistic.
Awesome stuff.
When Steve Hackett joined genesis cause Anthony Phillips had to leave the band (because of horrific stage frieght) the band had thought phillips was unreplaceable..well i'm sure everyone in genesis nation knows that between the yrs 1972 to 1977 were in fact genesis best Magical sounding moments just because of hacketts intense electric and classical guitar playing...and it was ashame the band didnt let him put more of his material on albums..he might have stayed...thks fr keepin the magic alive.
Awesome version. I think Steve might once said that when he left genesis the romanticism was gone. I agree one of my favs off trick of the tail.
LOved the original but, this is great. The album version he has out comes with the synth ending.. Equally good......
I can agree with some of the comments below , I hope that this album will expose new fans to his amazing solo work .He is a good man who deserves better from the critics ( if they can bother to review his work ).
On the other hand I have dreamed of seeing Steve on a big stage with a huge light show like the old Genesis days and this year my dreams come true.
I don't want to get caught up in a troll or thread....but, this song, has brought me back into place many times. "Trick of the Tail" is a wonderful album. I'll leave it at that :)
The beauty went out of Genesis music when Steve Hackett left a far greater loss than Peter Gabriel.
Please oh please keep this up!! Steve making a video is so rare (expect with Djabo' Tears for Peace). Thanks from myself and Steve's loyal fans!!
incredible song. magnifique atmospheres and songwritting. Jakko and the master Hackett
Esta música é viajante, pertence ao disco A Trick of the Tail do Genesis de 1976, lançado após a saida do Peter Gabriel.
I'm entangled in the dreams that came true with this beautiful video
Have 12 string and working on this one. Best version of the song is the one in this video.
I got 'Comfortably Numb' vibes from this song, Pink Floyd, another great band from that same era. This is a compliment, not a criticism!
Wunderschön.
wow love this
Steves the only member that really values former genesis work , obviously because that was his era but also the quality
" Voyage of the Acolyte" is one of the best album in Progressive Rock HIstory.
Steve created and played a miracle.
Thank you Steve for sharing with us your talent and your creativity.
No need to use LSD to fly away ...Steve's music is enough.
Oh yesssssss... M A G N I F I C O
Beautiful!
I love this song....how many memories......
Can't wait to see Steve & Co. at the Ridgefield Playhouse this fall! Too bad Amanda won't be with him, I really like the dimension she adds to his music... great voice!
I like this version even more than the Genesis-Version. it is so breezy, fresh and wide - an open window.
+peter reimer This one is much better than the Genesis version.
Beautiful harmony. Very nice.
A beautiful and haunting rendition
Ik Finder dit echt mooi hoor
Fantastic,great music
I would have preferred the full version. This is half of a beautiful song.
Excellent!! Thanks for the upload!! Saw Steve Hackett's tour last year in Albany, NY. It was truly Genesis Revisited. 5***** :)
Steve is the reason I discovered earl Genesis. Superb.
Well, if we can help you we will. If you consent, we will experiment further still. Catch your breath. Sublime.
Bela Canção!!!
Thank you always for such brilliant music very talented indeed
