...any version of this song brings me to tear every time I hear it. The critics choice for the weakest side (of the four) on the album, but I think it's the best. The greatest album of all time.
Me too, then it happens a lot when I listen to Steve Rothery and the guys... I like Mr Hackett but for me Steve R has somehow, more soul and feeling... both are amazing.
There is no need for the old clan to reunite. Hackett has done it. Presenting and reinterpreting these songs in a respectful way, sharing the limelight with not top-notch musicians and singers who undoubtedly love this music, is all you can ask for. Even the visuals never take away from the music. Gabriel and his cheesy costumes would have gotten in the way. And I don't think the old troupe played the Royal Albert Hall. To play this music to a packed house of that caliber shows how many folks love these songs. There was high demand. Thanks a bunch!!!

For me, the single greatest guitar solo in the history of music is the last few minutes of the original recording of "The Lamia" It's been, what, 40 years since it was released? You'd have thought I'd be sick of it by now. No. Oh, no.
Superb. Better than 75. One of the greatest genesis songs and Steve was right to revive it. Both gabriel and banks ignored this masterpiece for 40.years.The guitar solo at the end is sublime (I was there).
I agree, the comment is silly. Always wondered how much better(or worse) the commercial era would have been with Steve or Daryl providing input on the albums after Wind. I feel that if Steve had hung around they would have been even bigger, maybe a step below a Floyd but still always makes me wonder.
Absolutely awesome and superb indeed, not only Nik's vocal performance is top par but the guitar duo at the end is brilliant! Yes, Mr. Hackett has done what his former band mates Collins, Gabriel, Rutherford and Banks have shelved away and shamefully ignored. The highlight of the Genesis Revisited set list, sublime music.
Wahnsinn!! Bin total begeistert! astrein !!!
Absolutely love Nik's voice in this piece! Don't know how they came up with the idea but it is one of my top favourite prog ballads, espiecally the Genesis Revisited album version.
Certainly a treasured moment in my life to have seen Steve Hackett and his talented troupe give these compositions their just due. No doubt they will stand the test of time.
I have been saying for years genesis revisited with Steve Hackett is better than any reunion tour could offer. The song list is exactly what you would want to hear. I have seen Gabriel, Collins solo they never played any genesis stuff.
Peter considers The Lamb the best Genesis accomplishment - whether or not he says it anymore. But rather than performing it again, he was more interested in making it a film project but that obviously fell through the cracks.
When I heard this version I thought what the fuck is doing Nik Kershaw, but after a couple of listenings I'm a absolut fan of this version and I find Nik voice is fantastic and give me the shivering in the highest moments. The original is a master piece but this version is a masterpiece itself.
His voice on Genesis Revisited is stunning, it's OK here but a teeny but flat here and there. But in general, Nik is a greatly underrated artist. His voice and compositions are astonishingly beautiful! I'm a huge fan.
Love Steve but nothing in the whole world would please me more than Genesis from early 70s to reform and play TLLDOB live,i wouldvthen die a happy man, utter bliss,❤

@@OsvaldoManso I totally agree with you. And I add that, in addition to the microphone being too loud, his annoying insistence on putting vibratos at the end of the phrases, which has nothing to do with this song, made everything very flat and corny.
I just learned that Steve Rothery was the guitarist for Marillion! I just learned this after I watched a video of the group doing Lavender back in 2010! Wow!
I love this song. Great job from Nik. After The Fugitive came out in 83 I then heard Nik’s first single and thought it was a new Tony Banks track! Not surprised when they later worked together. He was a long time fan I think.
THIS !! although it is NOT technically an LP, he used a 58 LP most of the time with Genesis..and this is a custom guitar he has which does as you can clearly hear the beloved tone of the Les Paul...the difference between his and Rothery's tone is staggering...the les paul stands out and cuts through....greatness indeed..
Shame on Pete, Phil, Tony and Mike, how could they forgot or dismissed during their bloody commercial carriers these glorious and magnificent compositions, or was it a lack of strength, musicianship, or total devotion to the record companies that they did so, I now strongly believe that Hackett is the only one, and He has proven it for the last 38 years, that can deliver this fine material in the finest way, the way it should, the Hackett way ...
i have to agree Jeff its outstanding, and i have listened to some stuff over the years.Lyrics are light years away from anything i have ever listened to.
I love the Lamb but that's not gonna happen. The Lamb was more Tony and Peter's baby. Steve didn't get to contribute enough to feel the same attachment to it as he feels toward Selling England. Nice thought, though.

I agree on Hackett. But I miss the voice of Peter in this song.
@@roelkelder1967 I don't mind Kershaws voice, matured over the years.. the music is timeless, this has a 'slightly modernised' feel..
Steve Hackett, the last Genesis' lover between the ex components, he takes care of the classical songs and makes us happy

So amazingly good with Hackett and Rothery on guitar that Kershaw wasn't needed but for the singing. Love the way his voice works on this song too.
