  • One of the first rigs I bought 4 years ago was the mauler but I outgrew it as my collection grew to more capable rigs.
I remembered how capable it was but had two main weak points, axles made of cheese and very poor steering angle.
So 4 years on and with a little more knowledge and a collection of decent crawlers I decided to see if I could make one better.
I purchased a second hand one for £125 and completely stripped it down to chassis, links and gearbox.
As it stands now it has element ecto axles with 15mm brass extenders to make up the width, brass dif covers, internal sprung shocks with soft springs in rear and medium in front with just a few drops of oil, hobbywing fusion se 1200 brushless 2 in 1,40kg servo mounted on axle with carbon fibre mount,1.9 steel wheels with jconcepts ruptures, chopped creep body in bright gun metal.
The upper links needed moving one hole to achieve axle angle and the servo needed 4mm spacers to move it forward as it was catching on the links on full travel, apart from that it was all straightforward.
First video clip is of my first mauler that apart from body the only upgrade was tyres.
The other clips are with original body but I ve now reverted back to the creep body.
    Thanks for watching.
