I think Naruto's saving grace with fillers is they are mostly separate from the non-filler stuff. In DBZ filler was unavoidable before kai because it was blended into the events that did happen in the manga so you couldn't skip it as easily.
Hold up now. At least it isn’t one piece where they add filler in WITH the canon. So you can’t even watch the canon separate from the filler! You have to watch the 80-90% filler to get the other canon percent in each episode. I’m talking mainly about the most recent 300 episodes or so cause the beginning majority of one piece isn’t bad with filler.
@@DeltaDrifter2201 yo read the manga. But the other prob is the way they extend a whole arc. Usually its 2-3 mangas per ep but in pne piece its like half a manga issue and you can tell. Like if you really pay attention you can really see the drag.
Gokus “flickering Super Saiyin” was one of the best parts, the one that gave me chills was 110 the first time he went UI and the UI music played for the first time when he did that backflip in front of Jiren toppo and rabbit... EPIC

While some times I concede that the filler makes me want to shear all the hair from my head, the non fight fillers were really wholesome and fun, and showed everyone living great lives, basically we got to see how everyone was like when they weren't saving the world, and some of it was downright adorable

"The Dr. Slump episode" Ok ok...Look, I get why people didn't like it, but those that didn't literally had no idea who or what Dr. Slump was. It is a very VERY silly manga series, and breaks the 4th wall a bit. The fact that even Vegeta was aware he was fighting a parody character got a hearty chuckle from me. One of many here. It's a good episode, for those that know the material it draws from, and those that had an open mind.

Vegeta was the most developed character even before super. Vegeta didn't actually change all that much nor did we learn anything new about him, other than maybe in the first few arcs where you could argue he softened up a whole lot.
@@0penthaughtz Well GT happened immediately after DBZ anime ending in 1996, and so when DBZ was localized to the West, GT was also aired right after it as well, so thats a bit different unless you somehow waited a decade or so to watch it after DBZ lol

Now if you're interested about my watching habits, dragon Ball Z didn't air on toonami until 1996-2001 and then GT aired the following year, but I didn't watch it until it came out on DVD box completely, which was like 2004.
My uncle, who’s been a Dragon Ball fan since the 90s, got me back into the franchise with Super three years ago. Granted, Super is far from perfect definitely. Even though the Goku Black Saga had some issues (especially its ending..), I didn’t care too much because I had fun watching the series from that point onwards. Super has potential to improve if it comes back, especially in terms of character development and consistency. Also, the best filler episodes were the Baseball episode and the episode where Goku and Krillin need to find Master Roshi a “magic” plant. That one reminded me so much of classic Dragon Ball when they trained with Roshi as kids.
Yeah I always told my friends that Super is amazing if you can just watch it for fun and not take it so seriously. Some of the fights and interactions are just so amazing. Watching it weekly each sunday morning felt like being a kid again.
I think super shines with the movies. The anime and manga is okay. I guess the reason i dont like it as much as I suppose is because the characters feel changed they feel they havent progressed after Buu saga. More childlish stuck in the same time era with not much progress. Dbs does great world building but other than that eh its okay. xD
Saul LOLL and @Unforgiven11 As do I. :( I caught up with Super by the beginning of the T.O.P Saga. I felt like a kid again just waiting for the next episode whenever I got home from work. I had to watch the live streams since I don’t have cable and that alone was an experience in itself. Remember when the internet CRASHED when everyone was trying to watch the first fight with Goku and Jiren, with the reveal of ultra instinct. Waiting for the next episodes in that fashion- Just like the old days with Z on Toonami (even though I’d watch it every now and again with my uncle back then). Again, despite some of its faults, I can’t help but have a soft spot of Super. Like I said, Super brought me back into the franchise and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Like many fans have said, Super is essentially a mix of the original Dragon Ball and Z. I’m a cheesy person and I actually enjoyed the “slice of life” moments and all the fillers. I hope they bring it back and have it follow the events after Broly.
They recently added DBS on Hulu ,and I finally watched it (late af ik) and honestly it was way better than I thought it was gonna be .i finished the the series in 2 weeks lol
The reason why dragon ball z is so goated is because literally every major arc was legendary. And with super, in my opinion, you have maybe 2; zamasu arc and tournament of power arc

I think I read somewhere that the (Super Manga?) mentioned that 17 was still improving by fighting surviving Cell Jrs on his ranger park island all these years or something. All Super Saiyan God is, is the ablitiy for a Super Saiyan to tap into God Ki. All Super Saiyan Blue is, is what happens when a base Saiyan goes SSJ while tapping into god Ki. aka the 'power increase' is overrated and inflated simply by its visual presence. This is why Goku still had to go Kaikoken while SSJ Blue when fighting Hit, and why he even had to tap into it to defeat his own son and why he still got owned in it while fighting Kefla, the potara fusion of Caulifa and Kale, who both didnt even achieve SSJ3 let alone God ki. All Ultra Instinct is, is what happens when they start to truly unlock the hidden power of God Ki past the normal gods; aka the Gods of Destruction and more so, angels like Whis and others, hence the more white hair like presence.
I remember during the peak of the Goku black arc I would be waiting every week for Saturday for the the new episodes and it was such a nostalgia ride for me. Took me back to when I was a kid and I realized that Dragon Ball was back.

The Tournament of Power was my favorite saga. I'm one of those people that love DBZ because the dramatic, heroic and serious stuff and "doesn't get that Toriyama is actually about silly humor". I wasn't into DBS that much, with its weird modern colors and poor animation, mixed with humor and low stakes. When Goku Black came, it was my least favorite saga, because it tried to be DBZ dramatic and important, but maybe because the less graphic violence, less brutal fights coreography or the weird story structure, it didnt work for me. Then the Tournament of Power came and it felt as what all DBS was going for. It was just our favorite characters from our childhood coming back and fighting in a cool tournament. No super villains and no complicated time travel plots. It felt relaxed and it went better with this modern lighthearted take on DB. It was like watching sports, more than watching an epic story, and it worked. And ironically, because we were so relaxed, whenever it was more brutal and serious, it really hit and felt important and interesting.

I always seen him as a very watered down version of Tien tbh, but gray. I mean, both do nothing but train and meditate, both were Gokus biggest rival during a tournament and both have a strong sense of honor. And both are bald and massive lol. The only thing that sets them apart to me is the lack of a Chiaotzu. I thought Jiren was alright though. Just needs more work.
Jiren easy could had been great if they put on the twist that he wanted to erase all god of destructions (with his wish) because the clown god of destruction (forgot his name) killed his family and mentor, that Jiren had enough to let the gods decide the faith of other people's life

Fuck yeah! The 1997 one is a masterpiece. The Golden Age uses the hand drawn/3D style and not entirely but much of it looks like garbage in comparison. That's just the art. It doesn't match the original series in sound effects, background music, tone, or the emotions it conveys. The original team did an amazing job with it.

I always see people saying this about Vegeta in DBZ concerning his 'character development', but all he really did was come to terms with the fact that no matter how hard he trains, Goku will always be ahead of him. He made peace with that on the planet of Kais when he and Goku were fighting Kid Buu. Then Super came in and now he became on egotistically angsty again wanting to best Goku. Its like he forgot everything he mentally gained from DBZ lol. But then we also realize Super is shoehorned in between Kid Buu's death and the 5 year time skip at end of DBZ so its not really a sequel either. Its a midquel. Its just the fact that Goku and the others barely have any character development which is why people focus on Vegeta so much. Gohan's whole character development ended at the end of Cell Saga, which was the last time Toriyama intended on 'ending the manga' (prior was Freeza Saga, and before that was Pilaf Saga lol), and at end of Cell Saga, we had seen Vegeta become disgusted with himself after realizing Goku was dead and never coming back and he said he would give up fighting. Now fast forward 7 years (the time skip) and we see Vegeta basically just chilling at Bulma's house , still training here and there with kid Trunks, but still unemployed lol. So when Goku comes back for 1 day to visit, and decides to enter the WMT, Vegeta gets interested and angsty again because he never got that one fight. So Babidi and Dabura sense this in Vegeta and try to control him. Vegeta 'let them' so he can get that power boost and motivation and when Buu is released, Vegeta realizes his mistake and sacrifices himself to rid Buu and save the Earth. This plus his later acknowledgment of Goku being '#1' at planet of Kai's, was Vegeta's main character development. Super, all that did, was show him personality wise at his leisure moments (still angry, but willing to go on mini vacations with his family, knows how to cook really well, can sing and dance, and can change a diaper in mere seconds. I mean if you're not working for years at a rich home what else are you going to do? He's basically a mean Mr. Mom) But as I mentioned, Super still has Vegeta regress back to his whole angsty competitive self trying to outdo Goku despite that being pointless as he already knows since DBZ that Goku will always be one step ahead. They also have him fight in his Saiyan battle armor again which also seems regressive to me despite me knowing its simply a fanservice nod. They also do some annoying "GT like' moments with him where they dont bother to show him ever go SSJ3 (yes I know he mentioned its 'a useless form' but he shoulda been shown to actually have mastered it no less to show he could at least do it), and they had him (and Goku) achieve SSJ Blue form offscreen which was dumb. Not to mention they also had Vegeta gain SSJ God form offscreen too (showed it in Super Broly movie) and then in Tournament of Power, he got some odd BS power up 'SJ Blue ascended?" I forget., which, like Future Trunks power up to beat Zamasu, made no sense.
God of Destruction Beerus Saga: 7/10 Pretty fun but is brought down by some dodgy animation and releasing after the movie. Golden Frieza Saga: 7/10 Copy and Paste Universe 6 Saga: 8/10 Animation was a big step up and a lot of us were just happy to be out of the movie stuff. Copy-Vegeta Saga: 7/10 Great nostalgia with Brian Drummond returning as Vegeta coupled with some fun fights. "Future" Trunks Saga: 9/10 Really amazing stuff, gets a little repetitive with the back and forward to the future but the fights and animation more than make up for it. Universe Survival Saga: 8/10 Overall pretty solid, pretty weak villain with Jiren, nice to see Gohan in action again, and Ultra Instinct is awesome.
Animation was shit from start to finish, and overrating the DeviantArt Tier fanfic arcs isn't exactly a good look either. This series was created for the purpose of exploiting the braindead Naruto/One Piece generation for merchandise sales. Dragon Ball as a franchise deserved so much better, and certainly didn't need to be dragged down to the lower Shonen levels. This post is just embarrassing.

I was horrified by the rule of Tournament of Power when the team universe lost. Their universe will get erased. I suffer PSTD from this arc. I glad I watch Dragon Ball Super Broly and I felt cure.

Sun Wu-Entai 90 I’m not saying they don’t matter dude I’m saying the most important things are about the main character. They’re stronger most of the time, they defeat more villains. Some characters like Vegeta don’t get the spotlight. It’s not unfair it’s just how shonen anime’s work. If you don’t like it please don’t watch shonen.

Tbh, Chris should just make more anime reviews in general not just "acclaimed" anime movies like "Your Name" and "Weathering with You". I know he's busy and all but he rarely makes any anime review nowadays. And I feel like he's missing out on a lot of great anime. Most of them don't even take that long to finish. In fact, many of them can be binged in like a few day.
@@budgiecat9039 the part with Gohan that pissed me off the most was that in the Resurrection F movie, Gohan goes Super Saiyan and kills the Red Bull flying alien (yes the pun was intended since I forgot what his name was 😜😜), but then in the show when they adpated that part, they changed it so that the bull is killed by Tagoma while blasting him and Gohan through the heart, nearly killing him. Bringing him back was an interesting subversion to expectations since they literally wasted him into space in the movie, but they used it to skip a badass Gohan moment, and if Gohan had actually died to that, that Would've been the laziest death in Dragon ball ever. Frieza torturing him on the other hand, THAT felt more natural and that was scary, just the sadistic, bloodthirsty Frieza who we all know and love 😜

I can’t help but love Dbs, it puts a place in my heart more than most anime’s do to it being one of my gateway to anime. A few years ago when I was looking around RUclips to view more anime, something I’ve never heard of but loved anyway. I Saw Toppo vs goku as my first dragonball content I’ve watched. I loved it as much as Zeno was and I was curious for more. I’ve seen discussions and reactions of a few episodes and other clips like gohan vs Tien piccolo and then goku and I decided to watch more. I watch the whole series all the way from beginning to the end and through the whole way I fucking loved it. I remembered rating the show an 8 or 9 out of 10 and the only shows I’ve loved it as much or even loved more was attack on titan, fate zero, and fate ubw. Nowadays it’s really mediocre but I can’t help but love it
Chris, my guy... PLEASE continue watching Attack on Titan. Give it another shot and I swear it WILL end up as one of the greatest TV shows you'll ever watch.
I loved the slice of life part of the series. The first couple arcs were rough, due to rehashing and the odd animation. But Super gets more hate than it deserves.

I think the filler episode with the super water showed how much trunks truly loves his dad, the way he felt when Vegeta was about to disappear, those are character moments that you sometimes get more in filler than you do in major story arcs
Android 17 is the MVP of the series for taking on Jiren by himself, saving Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, 18, and Gohan from being eliminated early, and obviously wishing the other universes back. He’s come a long way since the Cell saga.
Honestly beerus is such a great and funny character. As said, those arcs were needed for the show, leaving them just in the movies would have greated a huge gap. The jokes in those 2 arcs were such an upgrade to DBZ, i dont get it how you would find them boring. Even after warching the movie, it didnt get boring rewatching the arc in the show
I honestly loved how Vegeta was treated in Super. It was peeling back the layers of his character from Prince to a humbled man with a family, I thought.
i like Vegeta's character more in GT because he is a family man and simple enjoys his time with his daughter. he finally looks at peace without chasing after Goku.
Especially with the villains. Sensui is a brilliant concept because he was one first villains at the time to dive into mental health and make it scary.

At first I was upset about Gohan as well but if you take Super as a whole and even Gohan from the Buu saga I like his arc a lot. Gohan was never fully committed to be a fighter and so him committing to family life and education was actually interesting. He got to enjoy a normal life but then got experience what it was like to become weaker as result. After so many failures he realized that he could and should have been stronger if not for the world then for his family. Then he resumed his training and regained a lot of his strength and potential. I think its important to remember that he is a lot younger than Goku and Vegeta. The fact that even with the years of not training and his overall youth, he is still able to even compete with Goku in his blue form is awesome to see. Gohan still has amazing potential to surpass his father and also balance being a good father and husband. Plus it was fun to see him successfully team with Picolo and lead the others.
I think this shows quiet moments were some of the best. Krillin and Goku sitting on the roof talking about how they were getting old was strangly emotional.
I like dragon ball super. Yes it has some problems with the animation at the start but it got better later on with goku black and tournament of power. The tournament of power was awesome. It's not as violent as dragon ball z but I like it. Ill give it a 8.5/10
I feel like the Saiyan Saga was really good. Frieza saga was alright. Cell saga should have been the ending to series than the Buu saga. God Buu Saga such a mess, and everything just goes down.

I remember back in junior high school when I was a kid me and my friend will go to the library and print out pictures of Dragon Ball Z characters and sell them for $0.50 each
It actually makes a lot of sense on why they would do that. I mean his mom has blue hair. So kinda figures that he would also have blue hair. Like Vegeta doesn't have purple hair, nor does Bulma. So where the hell did this get purple hair. It was fine that they changed his hair to blue. Logically, it makes sense.
His hair when young was purple just like bulmas. In the DB manga Bulma has purple hair. So we can just theorize that as they get older their hair turns into a blueish color
Roshi in the Manga is insanely better then in the tv show. I dont want to spoil it. Just read the Tournament of Power in the Manga and you'll see how important it was to have Roshi in the Tournament.
Big agree, HxH (2011) has honestly set the bar so high for shonen though, in fact it kinda made My Hero Academia a little insufferable by comparison...
I was okay with the first arcs, but that was because I never saw the movies they represented. And that's why they're there, because the movies, even the newest ones like Broly, aren't really canon-canon, they're movies that you can't expect everyone to have seen. So a recap, as it were, is fine for those who don't know what's going on

Trunks defeating Merged Zamasu *did* feel right. What *didn't* feel right was Future Trunks literally pulling a Spirit Bomb out of his ass with zero explanation, forming it into a sword & being able to defeat an antagonist that SSB Vegito couldn't defeat using a Final Kamehameha. That's some SDBH level fan service & fuckery writing, imo.
Was literally only two episodes (more like 1.5) and was good character development. It was needed for him to return to fighting and compete in the ToP.

Roshi's powerup made sense, at least within lore. He himself says it, he stopped looking at pretty women all the time and focused all that energy into becoming stronger. It was literally No Fap that put him on par with some of the (lesser) fighters in the ToP.
The tournament of power in Manga is even more crazy. Remember before they have the tournament of power, they have a test round with Universe 7 and 3? In the manga, the test round is fights between all God of destruction from all universe. You get to see Beerus fight against all other Gods. And even Gohan has his moments in the fight. 1v1 against Kefla. Jiren is better as well. There is even a fight between Master Roshi and Jiren (sounds ridiculous but it is pretty awesome) Universe 6vs7 is better in Anime, but tournament arc is better in Manga in my opinion.
You Win Yeap The manga version of the ToP is very rushed, that’s its problem. It has better ideas - the moment between Roshi and Goku leading to Ultra Instinct moves me all the times I read it - but it lacks the weight of the anime version, a weight given simply by time. The anime saga is longer, it is given more time to breathe. And that helps, a lot. In general, in my opinion, the only manga saga that truly ANNIHILATES its anime counterpart is the Zamasu saga. The final fights against Fused Zamasu, in particular, were awesome. They felt just like the old bloody fights of Z.

I think Naruto's saving grace with fillers is they are mostly separate from the non-filler stuff. In DBZ filler was unavoidable before kai because it was blended into the events that did happen in the manga so you couldn't skip it as easily.
Hold up now. At least it isn’t one piece where they add filler in WITH the canon. So you can’t even watch the canon separate from the filler! You have to watch the 80-90% filler to get the other canon percent in each episode. I’m talking mainly about the most recent 300 episodes or so cause the beginning majority of one piece isn’t bad with filler.

Ok ok...Look, I get why people didn't like it, but those that didn't literally had no idea who or what Dr. Slump was. It is a very VERY silly manga series, and breaks the 4th wall a bit. The fact that even Vegeta was aware he was fighting a parody character got a hearty chuckle from me. One of many here. It's a good episode, for those that know the material it draws from, and those that had an open mind.
loved that episode and never really read Dr Slump, I enjoyed it as a call back to classic Dragon Ball and loved seeing Arale meeting a grown up Goku

Now if you're interested about my watching habits, dragon Ball Z didn't air on toonami until 1996-2001 and then GT aired the following year, but I didn't watch it until it came out on DVD box completely, which was like 2004.
My uncle, who’s been a Dragon Ball fan since the 90s, got me back into the franchise with Super three years ago.
Granted, Super is far from perfect definitely. Even though the Goku Black Saga had some issues (especially its ending..), I didn’t care too much because I had fun watching the series from that point onwards.
Super has potential to improve if it comes back, especially in terms of character development and consistency.
Also, the best filler episodes were the Baseball episode and the episode where Goku and Krillin need to find Master Roshi a “magic” plant. That one reminded me so much of classic Dragon Ball when they trained with Roshi as kids.

Yeah I always told my friends that Super is amazing if you can just watch it for fun and not take it so seriously. Some of the fights and interactions are just so amazing. Watching it weekly each sunday morning felt like being a kid again.

I caught up with Super by the beginning of the T.O.P Saga. I felt like a kid again just waiting for the next episode whenever I got home from work. I had to watch the live streams since I don’t have cable and that alone was an experience in itself. Remember when the internet CRASHED when everyone was trying to watch the first fight with Goku and Jiren, with the reveal of ultra instinct.
Waiting for the next episodes in that fashion- Just like the old days with Z on Toonami (even though I’d watch it every now and again with my uncle back then).
Again, despite some of its faults, I can’t help but have a soft spot of Super. Like I said, Super brought me back into the franchise and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Like many fans have said, Super is essentially a mix of the original Dragon Ball and Z. I’m a cheesy person and I actually enjoyed the “slice of life” moments and all the fillers. I hope they bring it back and have it follow the events after Broly.
They recently added DBS on Hulu ,and I finally watched it (late af ik) and honestly it was way better than I thought it was gonna be .i finished the the series in 2 weeks lol

All Super Saiyan God is, is the ablitiy for a Super Saiyan to tap into God Ki. All Super Saiyan Blue is, is what happens when a base Saiyan goes SSJ while tapping into god Ki. aka the 'power increase' is overrated and inflated simply by its visual presence.
This is why Goku still had to go Kaikoken while SSJ Blue when fighting Hit, and why he even had to tap into it to defeat his own son and why he still got owned in it while fighting Kefla, the potara fusion of Caulifa and Kale, who both didnt even achieve SSJ3 let alone God ki.
All Ultra Instinct is, is what happens when they start to truly unlock the hidden power of God Ki past the normal gods; aka the Gods of Destruction and more so, angels like Whis and others, hence the more white hair like presence.

The Tournament of Power was my favorite saga. I'm one of those people that love DBZ because the dramatic, heroic and serious stuff and "doesn't get that Toriyama is actually about silly humor". I wasn't into DBS that much, with its weird modern colors and poor animation, mixed with humor and low stakes. When Goku Black came, it was my least favorite saga, because it tried to be DBZ dramatic and important, but maybe because the less graphic violence, less brutal fights coreography or the weird story structure, it didnt work for me. Then the Tournament of Power came and it felt as what all DBS was going for. It was just our favorite characters from our childhood coming back and fighting in a cool tournament. No super villains and no complicated time travel plots. It felt relaxed and it went better with this modern lighthearted take on DB. It was like watching sports, more than watching an epic story, and it worked. And ironically, because we were so relaxed, whenever it was more brutal and serious, it really hit and felt important and interesting.

I always seen him as a very watered down version of Tien tbh, but gray. The only thing that sets them apart to me is the lack of a Chiaotzu. I thought Jiren was alright though. Just needs more work.

Fuck yeah! The 1997 one is a masterpiece. The Golden Age uses the hand drawn/3D style and not entirely but much of it looks like garbage in comparison. That's just the art. It doesn't match the original series in sound effects, background music, tone, or the emotions it conveys. The original team did an amazing job with it.

I always see people saying this about Vegeta in DBZ concerning his 'character development', but all he really did was come to terms with the fact that no matter how hard he trains, Goku will always be ahead of him. He made peace with that on the planet of Kais when he and Goku were fighting Kid Buu. Then Super came in and now he became on egotistically angsty again wanting to best Goku. Its like he forgot everything he mentally gained from DBZ lol. But then we also realize Super is shoehorned in between Kid Buu's death and the 5 year time skip at end of DBZ so its not really a sequel either. Its a midquel. Its just the fact that Goku and the others barely have any character development which is why people focus on Vegeta so much. Gohan's whole character development ended at the end of Cell Saga, which was the last time Toriyama intended on 'ending the manga' (prior was Freeza Saga, and before that was Pilaf Saga lol), and at end of Cell Saga, we had seen Vegeta become disgusted with himself after realizing Goku was dead and never coming back and he said he would give up fighting.
Now fast forward 7 years (the time skip) and we see Vegeta basically just chilling at Bulma's house , still training here and there with kid Trunks, but still unemployed lol.
So when Goku comes back for 1 day to visit, and decides to enter the WMT, Vegeta gets interested and angsty again because he never got that one fight. So Babidi and Dabura sense this in Vegeta and try to control him. Vegeta 'let them' so he can get that power boost and motivation and when Buu is released, Vegeta realizes his mistake and sacrifices himself to rid Buu and save the Earth. This plus his later acknowledgment of Goku being '#1' at planet of Kai's, was Vegeta's main character development.
Super, all that did, was show him personality wise at his leisure moments (still angry, but willing to go on mini vacations with his family, knows how to cook really well, can sing and dance, and can change a diaper in mere seconds. I mean if you're not working for years at a rich home what else are you going to do? He's basically a mean Mr. Mom)
But as I mentioned, Super still has Vegeta regress back to his whole angsty competitive self trying to outdo Goku despite that being pointless as he already knows since DBZ that Goku will always be one step ahead.
They also have him fight in his Saiyan battle armor again which also seems regressive to me despite me knowing its simply a fanservice nod.
They also do some annoying "GT like' moments with him where they dont bother to show him ever go SSJ3 (yes I know he mentioned its 'a useless form' but he shoulda been shown to actually have mastered it no less to show he could at least do it), and they had him (and Goku) achieve SSJ Blue form offscreen which was dumb. Not to mention they also had Vegeta gain SSJ God form offscreen too (showed it in Super Broly movie) and then in Tournament of Power, he got some odd BS power up 'SJ Blue ascended?" I forget., which, like Future Trunks power up to beat Zamasu, made no sense.

God of Destruction Beerus Saga: 7/10 Pretty fun but is brought down by some dodgy animation and releasing after the movie.
Golden Frieza Saga: 7/10 Copy and Paste
Universe 6 Saga: 8/10 Animation was a big step up and a lot of us were just happy to be out of the movie stuff.
Copy-Vegeta Saga: 7/10 Great nostalgia with Brian Drummond returning as Vegeta coupled with some fun fights.
"Future" Trunks Saga: 9/10 Really amazing stuff, gets a little repetitive with the back and forward to the future but the fights and animation more than make up for it.

Animation was shit from start to finish, and overrating the DeviantArt Tier fanfic arcs isn't exactly a good look either. This series was created for the purpose of exploiting the braindead Naruto/One Piece generation for merchandise sales. Dragon Ball as a franchise deserved so much better, and certainly didn't need to be dragged down to the lower Shonen levels. This post is just embarrassing.

Tbh, Chris should just make more anime reviews in general not just "acclaimed" anime movies like "Your Name" and "Weathering with You". I know he's busy and all but he rarely makes any anime review nowadays. And I feel like he's missing out on a lot of great anime. Most of them don't even take that long to finish. In fact, many of them can be binged in like a few day.

@@budgiecat9039 the part with Gohan that pissed me off the most was that in the Resurrection F movie, Gohan goes Super Saiyan and kills the Red Bull flying alien (yes the pun was intended since I forgot what his name was 😜😜), but then in the show when they adpated that part, they changed it so that the bull is killed by Tagoma while blasting him and Gohan through the heart, nearly killing him.
Bringing him back was an interesting subversion to expectations since they literally wasted him into space in the movie, but they used it to skip a badass Gohan moment, and if Gohan had actually died to that, that Would've been the laziest death in Dragon ball ever.
Frieza torturing him on the other hand, THAT felt more natural and that was scary, just the sadistic, bloodthirsty Frieza who we all know and love 😜

I can’t help but love Dbs, it puts a place in my heart more than most anime’s do to it being one of my gateway to anime. A few years ago when I was looking around RUclips to view more anime, something I’ve never heard of but loved anyway. I Saw Toppo vs goku as my first dragonball content I’ve watched. I loved it as much as Zeno was and I was curious for more. I’ve seen discussions and reactions of a few episodes and other clips like gohan vs Tien piccolo and then goku and I decided to watch more. I watch the whole series all the way from beginning to the end and through the whole way I fucking loved it. I remembered rating the show an 8 or 9 out of 10 and the only shows I’ve loved it as much or even loved more was attack on titan, fate zero, and fate ubw. Nowadays it’s really mediocre but I can’t help but love it
Chris, my guy... PLEASE continue watching Attack on Titan. Give it another shot and I swear it WILL end up as one of the greatest TV shows you'll ever watch.

I think the filler episode with the super water showed how much trunks truly loves his dad, the way he felt when Vegeta was about to disappear, those are character moments that you sometimes get more in filler than you do in major story arcs
Android 17 is the MVP of the series for taking on Jiren by himself, saving Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, 18, and Gohan from being eliminated early, and obviously wishing the other universes back. He’s come a long way since the Cell saga.
Best moment was when the MVP shot Ribriane and her friends when they were powering up.

Honestly beerus is such a great and funny character. As said, those arcs were needed for the show, leaving them just in the movies would have greated a huge gap. I honestly loved how Vegeta was treated in Super. It was peeling back the layers of his character from Prince to a humbled man with a family, I thought.

At first I was upset about Gohan as well but if you take Super as a whole and even Gohan from the Buu saga I like his arc a lot. Gohan was never fully committed to be a fighter and so him committing to family life and education was actually interesting. He got to enjoy a normal life but then got experience what it was like to become weaker as result. After so many failures he realized that he could and should have been stronger if not for the world then for his family. Then he resumed his training and regained a lot of his strength and potential. I think its important to remember that he is a lot younger than Goku and Vegeta. The fact that even with the years of not training and his overall youth, he is still able to even compete with Goku in his blue form is awesome to see. Gohan still has amazing potential to surpass his father and also balance being a good father and husband. Plus it was fun to see him successfully team with Picolo and lead the others.

I was okay with the first arcs, but that was because I never saw the movies they represented. And that's why they're there, because the movies, even the newest ones like Broly, aren't really canon-canon, they're movies that you can't expect everyone to have seen. So a recap, as it were, is fine for those who don't know what's going on

Trunks defeating Merged Zamasu *did* feel right.
What *didn't* feel right was Future Trunks literally pulling a Spirit Bomb out of his ass with zero explanation, forming it into a sword & being able to defeat an antagonist that SSB Vegito couldn't defeat using a Final Kamehameha.
That's some SDBH level fan service & fuckery writing, imo.
Another thing he forgot to mention was Krillin fighting his fears and nightmares in some 5-8 episodes which was so tedious nobody could care less 😂

That wasn't tedious at all, it was great character development for his character.
Was literally only two episodes (more like 1.5) and was good character development. It was needed for him to return to fighting and compete in the ToP.

Roshi's powerup made sense, at least within lore. He himself says it, he stopped looking at pretty women all the time and focused all that energy into becoming stronger.

We may hate Filler, but that Yamcha baseball episode was the most hilarious filler I've ever seen
The tournament of power in Manga is even more crazy.
Remember before they have the tournament of power, they have a test round with Universe 7 and 3? In the manga, the test round is fights between all God of destruction from all universe. You get to see Beerus fight against all other Gods.
And even Gohan has his moments in the fight. 1v1 against Kefla. Jiren is better as well. There is even a fight between Master Roshi and Jiren (sounds ridiculous but it is pretty awesome)
Universe 6vs7 is better in Anime, but tournament arc is better in Manga in my opinion.
You Win Yeap The manga version of the ToP is very rushed, that’s its problem. It has better ideas - the moment between Roshi and Goku leading to Ultra Instinct moves me all the times I read it - but it lacks the weight of the anime version, a weight given simply by time. The anime saga is longer, it is given more time to breathe. And that helps, a lot.
In general, in my opinion, the only manga saga that truly ANNIHILATES its anime counterpart is the Zamasu saga. The final fights against Fused Zamasu, in particular, were awesome. They felt just like the old bloody fights of Z.
