Great idea to write a message when you share a post. Like you mentioned, your network will know what this post covers, and why you shared it.

Yes, it's really important to do this. It gives people more reason to click and read the post you're sharing.

My question is if you created a post on Linkedin for anyone to see, and there is a certain segment (e.g. Holiday Parks) of your contacts you want to make sure see the post, is it appropriate to send a few of them a message saying something like 'We connected on LinkedIn over a year ago, I have a post for you to view and I hope you like it. Hope you have a successful season!', and in the message send a link to the post? What are your thoughts on this?

I've seen people do this. Sometimes it's considered spam. But if you think they can genuinely benefit from the content, then it's ok to send them the link. But you might get a lot of people just ignore the message.

Kara so what you are saying is posting is the only way to share with your connections?

    Dear Kara,
I started watching your videos very recently and I find them very useful. They provide answers to many of my questions.
Related to your linkedin content creation videos, I have one question.
I started creating technical articles on LinkedIn since my aim is to share my knowledge, but they don't get much popular.
What does your experience say about popularity of general or entertaining contents against educational contents?

Thanks so much for watching my channel Ashini! I'm glad the videos are helping you out. As to articles on LinkedIn, it's completely normal that they're not getting much traction for you. LinkedIn articles are known to not get as much traction as LinkedIn posts. It seems the algorithm favours LinkedIn posts. Having said that, I believe that articles are a fantastic way to showcase your expertise. When people look at your profile, they often look at what posts you've written AND the articles you've written. If you want to direct attention to a particular article, the best way to do this is to include it in your "Featured Section" on your LinkedIn profile.
As to general/entertaining content versus educational content, I believe educational content can do really well on LinkedIn. But it has to be written in a way that is enticing for the reader. Try to write in a way that's easy to understand and replace technical wording with everyday wording (if possible).
Feel free to send me a request to connect on LinkedIn Ashini!
