    This makes me happy because it's basically a dedicated Tumblr or a fandom pinterest page, except with Victorian-level tech. It's steampunk fandom blogging.

    I'd love Keith to start his own vlog about being a librarian for the Royal Society.

      *head librarian

    •  9 лет назад

      Graham Rich
      He used to work as a regular librarian/archivist there in the late 1980s/early 1990s. That would also be interesting, he doesn't have to limit himself to his current position.

    3:10 as if Brady didn't read my mind! Please make a full separate video on Newton, would be wonderful to see all the portraits. Each quick page turn was like another stab in my heart...

    I demand embellishment on Keith's introduction! You have become complacent with his glorious presence! Long live the Keith!

    • @Mazekwon
      @Mazekwon 9 лет назад +4

      Brady really only introduces him out of courtesy to new people.
      Everyone knows Keith here...the strut, the stance, the hair.
      He needs no introduction, if this was "Filmed in front of a live audience" Keith could just walk out with no acknowledgment, wave, and the crowd goes wild!!!

  • @motazart5961
    @motazart5961 9 лет назад +2

    I believe I speak for the majority of the viewers when I say this..
    "We would LOVE longer videos."
    Personally I could go on for an hour! However you can start out smaller, 15 minutes maybe and then once a month we can have an hour long talk on a an especially interesting item thereby giving it the time it deserves.
    Now I know it takes a lot of effort to even make videos of this length (and we are immensely grateful for them), but if you are up for it, so are we! :)
    P.S: We would definitely need Keith present for the hour long videos! He's become quite a celebrity here.

    I suppose it makes sense that peoples homes were so important back then. It's hard for us to understand now how vitally important geography used to be. Geography now is basically meaningless. You can work with anyone, anywhere, often MORE easily than you can connect with people physically close to you... but it wasn't so long ago that the restriction of who was physically nearby loomed as the single most restrictive factor in whose research got heard, who was able to collaborate, etc. Even things like encyclopedias and the like that we seem to assume are put together by the foremost experts on the subjects they cover were actually restricted to featuring work primarily by whoever was geographically closest and who could be hired for the lowest wage the publishing company was willing to pay...

    I wonder if it's brady that writes the descriptions in these videos, where he is refered to in third person. It's a bit of a funny image, imagining him writing the descriptions as some well regarded aristocrat in year 200.

    I always wondered why Newton said something about "giant" in his famous quote and why he would choose this word to express modesty for his mathematical/astronomical achievements in the letter he sent to Robert Hooke ?? Is it because of the scale of the universe the C17th scientists tried to measure? Does it have some other implications in its word ?? Is it like the word "titan"?

      Zerkbern it's much easier to tore a page when you're handling it with gloves
      and skin oils just dirty up the pages, not cause chemical decomposition of it (unlike with metals)

    Why isn't stuff like this up an the internet for the masses of the world to search for and see. Sure it's nice for Brady to post up what he does. But still, nobody else can have a look for themselves unless they live down the street or have lots of money.
    It would be great if someone would do up a website for stuff like this. Even if it's just on Wiki.
