Im born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and up until Dec 2022 a Resident Of Daly City (because SF is too expensive). The City has been rotting away since the tech busses started rolling in around in 2012 and pushing out the long time families from San Fransisco. These last few years under this mayor are beyond what I could stomach anymore. So, I left to live in another state. It was heart breaking to leave. Her saying "these reports are overblown" IS AN OFFENSE to the intelligence, basic ability to use their eyes, and sense of smell, of every tax paying resident and Guests of San Fransisco. I was there in those streets almost daily and I assure you, this NBC segment is really undereporting how horrible it is there now. Shame on her.
Tech ruined all of the bay area. From San Fran-San Jose. They have forced out families that have been there since the beginnings getting replaced with H1-Visa tech engineers>Canada>Washington>Oregon> final stop silicon Valley..........(we all know what country they are coming from). who bring their parents from abroad that then collect free medical/benefits from state of CA......sad while US citizens are becoming homeless
So it's the tech companies fault? I hope if you moved to a red state you don't vote the same way if you were part of the problem in SF
More like sanctuary city policies PC race card lack of prosecution
I will say tech like APPLE are lefties that influence the politics
Tech are globalists and have no loyalty to any country
If crime starts affecting their campus they will just relocate to another state or country
31 trillion dollars debt usually does that... destroy societys
Democrats have ruined this once iconic city...
The people saying the mayor is delusional make me laugh. It's the voters who are delusional, who keep voting for the same policies for the last two decades. As a life-long Bay Area Resident.
Dead on right here. These people were voted in.
Delusional is thinking that political corruption doesn’t have a hand in keeping the status quo.
You are delusional for thinking the votes matter and election aren’t rigged
What makes you think their is no voter fraud ??
Voting dosnt even matter. Its the program. The agenda!
Thanks to this worse mayor of the entire history of San Francisco, and a ridiculous previous DA for systematically letting criminals go. I’m so disgusted that I don’t even want to mention their names.
Given all the challenging circumstances, the mayor Breed is doing an excellent job on the road of recovery for everybody's prosperity, and individual happiness.
It’s easy to place the blame of them but the damage was being done long before them and ultimately the people voted them in
@@SkylarSterling_TheyThem 😂🤣😂🤣
Trump has been out since 2021. Why are you blaming the past president on the current issues of SF. It's mismanaged by yours truly - your Democrat mayor. Face the reality!
It's fine if you don't mention them, you'd probably misspell tham anyway.
A classic example of what happens when the inmates run the asylum.
The Mayor thinks SF is doing good, but she doesn't walk or live near that area.. smh
This is so sad. Where am I supposed to go when I need to shoplift stuff?
Jail.
Given all the challenging circumstances, the mayor Breed is doing an excellent job on the road of recovery for everybody's prosperity, and individual happiness.
Lol😂
Ha, ha, ha,
I see what you did there. Lol
Maybe what the media should do is ask Breed to actually walk these streets, talk to the homeless and drug dealers without any bodyguards just so she has a feel of how an ordinary civilian in San Francisco go through everyday. This mayor is on another level of denial.
Denial? Incompetency is more like it.
Awesome idea - she would change her attitude in a heartbeat.
I miss the SF I knew as kid in the early 80's, 90's, and early 2000's.
It got dark and perverse
As a native San Franciscan who still lives in the city, and never lived anywhere else, I can attest to that. San Francisco is not the same as it was back in the 80's thru the 2010's. In fact, I do miss the downtown it once was 'til the 2000's, where there used to be so many stores that are exciting for kids and grown-ups to visit and where bad people around used to be more afraid to do bad things in public than today.
Do we not see any correlation between SF then and what we see now?
The blaming of homelessness is ridiculous if you ignore silicone valleys influence on overpricing everyone and turning the city into a tourist trap. For a city touted for its planning it certainly created its own cancer.
You should of seen it in the 60’s & 70’s. The city of ❤
I'm shocked the mayor would try to make excuses for her failure. The buck stops with her.
Its not the news and social media. I visited last year and every single parking lot had 3 to 4 areas of broken glass from the cars that were broken in to. Two of the lots we parked in had cops or security taking statements from robbery victims. Several cars had a note to the robbers that the doors were unlocked to please not break the windows. My nephews visited a couple of months ago and even though everyone told them not to leav anything in the cars they had all their stuff stolen within minutes of parking to get coffee. Shame on the leaders in San Francisco and shame on Gavin Newsome they live in a fantasy.
Biden and the Democrats are doing a real awesome job
@@floridanews8786 Biden is federal. He doesn't micromanage cities. Name a president that got intimately involved in the issues of particular cities
I just take public transit into the city and have been fine. Outer Sunset and those areas are also safe and have not seen many break ins.
@zay Why did they have all their stuff stolen? How did they arrange this and why? Strange.
take that putin!! west civilization wins again
Yes the city "has become a bit of a target"...... from criminals who say: "No consequences!"
Love how politicians put an unrealistic spin on reality.
I used to love living in SF, now I wanna move, it’s dangerous and no police around. We are on our own. This is what Defund the police looks like.
Now you want police? not social workers?🤣🤣🤣🤣
If someone burglarizes your house, in any city in the U.S., what will the Police do? Nothing! They'll just take a report with no investigation. Same with being mugged!
@@silentmajority8365lol 😂
You did right thing.
Should follow Singapore's model of zero tolerance on Crime because Crime cannot be tolerated. Criminals thrive on the indulgence of society's understanding.
"Actually since we stopped recording shop lifters who steal under $1000 this graph shows that shop lifting is way down"
If the mayor thinks that the problems are overblown. Then it’s obviously she’s clueless to the reality that people face every day when they enter the downtown area. Disgusting. Can’t even describe what is being presented to the citizens of San Francisco. The only obvious solution is to get rid of her as quickly as possible. She’s been a failure in every possible way.
She’s not “clueless”. She knows EXACTLY what is causing this.
The voters voted for her. If they're stupid enough to vote Democrat, they deserve what they're getting.
The fulfillment of the "Progressive" vision of society.
10 years ago I often brought my kids to SF for fun activities. Last year I went to SF to cheer my friends running SF marathon; immediately after I stepped outside the BART station, it’s urine and weed smell in the air, and I had to watch carefully about my surroundings. Not going to SF anymore.
This has become the new norm. As long as the D.A. keeps up the leniency, the police won't care to chase them, what's the purpose if they don't have to post bail and get charges dismissed. California has become Gotham City but no Batman and all jokers.
This was about SF, not all of Cali. I don't recall all other parts of the state facing issues like this unless you know something that I don't
If they are not prosecuted don't blame police
You voted for DNC woke gender

San Francisco leadership should start *every* interview with an apology while holding up a photograph of a homeless person defecating in a playground.
Crime and theft. Stop the suger coating of the issues.
Mayor London has a great skill in hiding the truth of San Fran, I was visiting San Fran in May 2023, seeing is believing. It's security guards dressed in black in front of many retail stores and they give every customer a dirty look when entering the stores. In the Tenderloin streets, it was like a battlefield, homeless people lying everywhere, wheelchairs with sick people, subjects inserting hypodermic needles in their arms. Also, the Mayor said let's reimagine San Fran, tear down buildings and turn them to affordable housing, but these types of housing are not profitable, investors will not do so. The reality is that San Fran changed for the worst, and it is evident that it is the next deteriorating city like Detroit or Baltimore. Tourists read negative reviews and once in fear, they avoid and never return.
Have always dreamed of seeing San Francisco but sadly these last 2 or so years have convinced me otherwise
So you just VISITED and think you're an expert. Amazing yes you are 😂😂😂! Dude shush
Major retail stores are closing all across the US. They have not been profitable for a long time. Brick and Mortar businesses are also closing in suburban areas as well. Why is this being mostly attributed to thief promoted by local organized crime groups. I remember the City when it was extremely old and rundown back in the late 1950's to 1960's period. Yet, that all changed when people made the city their home. That is when great old victorian buildings got transformed with wonderful color schemes everywhere. The concerns and reactions you have are somewhat true. Where will you go to live where everything is wonderful all the time. Macy's has been successful for well over a hundred years, but their business model (like so many others) is no longer viable in our current day. New trends are brewing and will surface in San Francisco. Don't Run Away! Stay and add your good ideas and creativity to the mix. That is what helps to make a place like ours special.
Hahahaha, San Francisco. Nothing but a bunch of a finger wagging libs eating it hard from criminals, all day every day.
Seriously. San Francisco is more than this tiny sub slice of downtown they’ve chosen to show in this video. Lol the way they describe it San Francisco is on its hands and knees… absolutely ridiculous. But you just have to be savvy enough to recognize you are only being told a very specific subset of information. Do your due diligence. And don’t be fooled into not making a trip to a beautiful and creative place because of this.
Class action lawsuit against the governments who legalized criminality! "Oh, so people can steal a $1K of MY property and YOU"RE ok with it!" and "Repeat offenders are released back into communities to commit more, severe, victim related crimes, too!" Hold these people accountable for the destruction of the cities and businesses.
The mayor is delusional and needs long term therapy.
we need mass relocations of certain people
@@silentmajority8365 or just killed
SF will be a pretty city to look at from a distance.
Used to be America's best city up until the 2010s
I blame Ed Lee, he started that tech takeover.
Keep voting for Biden, and those other Democrats.
@@floridanews8786 Both Democrats and Republics do not vote in unity.
That's about the time that I stopped going to SF.
Too much shoplifting.... business can't keep up.

The woke really really hate the truth.
As a Floridian De Santis has Noooooo room to talk 😢😮😢(at all)

Shocking, who could have predicted this?
Drug problem creating recession.
Nothing will ever get better if these leaders are in denial.
It is the parents that are raising these criminals that are delusional. You will never catch me spending my hard earned dollars there.
00:04 That Pub City was closed back in like 2016 for health violations. It was a good spot for a beer but the place HAS SAT FOR 7 YEARS how is that possible? Because the corner and the surrounding area is filled with crazy homeless and thieves sit on the Bart stairs scoping people just feet away. And in that same spot Juveniles gamble, smoke and mess around all day. SF IS DOOMED! I use to love my city Idc who to vote for but I need a Joe Clark (Lean on Me) personality against crime.
Vote democrat one more time
They don't want to pay the rent. Crime is a great excuse to leave.
💯People are sheep who just want their partisan narrative reaffirmed, facts and context be damned.
Given all the challenging circumstances, the mayor Breed is doing an excellent job on the road of recovery for everybody's prosperity, and individual happiness.
No, Mayor it's not social media hyping it up. I stayed at courtyard downtown San Francisco and had to walk through the tenderloin last spring. I thought I was gonna get murdered and was sick the whole time seeing drug use and dead people on the sidewalk! I will never go back in San Francisco was my favorite city of all time. Horrific
San Francisco is a dump. I live just 20 miles from San Francisco and I have only had a need to go into the city one time within the last two years. In the early 2000s and in the 90s, I was in San Francisco almost every weekend. Now the closest I get to San Francisco is when I have to go to the airport and I stay on the freeway until the absolute time to exit the freeway to enter the airport. That says tons.
We were there a year ago. So glad we saw it before the end. You could tell it was coming.
City government should face federal court for allowing this.
We have been to SFO many times as tourists. It was just 'expensive' in the 'old days'. The last time, 2019, we noticed more homeless peoples, annoying zombies etc on the streets. Sad, it was a vibrant place to be.
To fix the problems you need to admit that you have major problems.
At least shoplifting is legal
my mom said when she first immigrated here it was a beautiful beautiful city and now it’s completely gone down hill
These 'challenges' are nothing compared to the cognitive 'challenges' London Breed faces in trying to wrap her pea brain around her disastrous policies.
Gods wrath has fallen upon San Francisco
Good Job San Francisco and its leaders!
SF will be the next Detroit.
And Detroit is making a marvelous comeback.
Don't say that about Detroit.
it's not overblown... you literally see videos of the city and what's going on. It's not CGI what people are seeing.
When one site closes, the others become bigger targets. SF is over.
Gavin Newsom has some explaining to do and tbh i blame government and police for not keeping stores safe and secure. I would also like to say that the community needs to step up and take part in the fight against unnecessary crimes and violence. We all deserve to shop in peace and comfort.
I blame the voters.
I agree. I live 60 miles north and it sucks.. Sonoma County is doing great because because they clear their mess out. San Francisco is flat out depressing. I haven't been there in 20 years.

DNC🌈🌈
lets start there
Only a matter of time, my job in Union Square is gone. I don't believe we will be around in 2024.
Desantis should deal with his own state issues which are many. Newsom needs to spend sometime in San Francisco to see what’s really going on there.
The main issues seem to be the leaders of California don’t think or see there is a problem. Neither that mayor or “governor” don’t want to admit it but rather look to deflect the issues.
High rent and high housing cost destroys businesses.
Don’t worry. I’m sure the politicians will figure out how to fix it!
Why the news been saying stores closing for like nearly a year now but like they still there
Again and again this is happening all across the country for the same reason. When you wake up and say to yourself " I'm going to go to Walmart today and steal everything i can then wonder why it closes.
You got what you voted for.
you are assuming the victims voted in a particular
I heard theft is legal in San Francisco up to 950 dollars. Nope, i wouldn't want to go there😂
I dont know maam, multiple businesses leaving the city in just a year is not overblowing the problem.
It’s not enough..
I grew up in the city... It never "got back on track".
london breed needs togo…
This is beyond “post-pandemic,” cuz where I live business has not only bounced back, it’s thriving
The mayor is flat out lying. I was there last in 2015, and the place is almost unrecognizable.
I just can't believe it. SAN FRANCISCO? This city was a JEWEL
The city itself has lost its grip on reality after the pandemic with homelessness, business robberies & drug crime swirling around it so much like cockroaches that I'll stop visiting it. The local admin seems hopeless & defenseless in preventing the root issues from spreading towards elsewhere.
the only store they could find was a bike shop, and one that doesn't experience much crime.
San Francisco deserves whatever happens to it. You reap what you sow
Thank god the employees are always hooking up at work
They can deny it but truth will prevail
Same thing going on in Portland Oregon .Key West Bank on 4th & Washington down town now Fentanyl mart . My company closed its 20th & Burnside office in April . So I’m working in another office in Clackamas and homeless on 82nd in a wheel chair smoking a crack pipe with one hand because the other has huge red sores With gang green . Wrapped in cling film to keep down the smell of necrosis. Which doesn’t work very well , good lord it’s a nightmare 😕
SF is an pit of despair because of the politics of the reigning party. Watch and others will follow suit.
That friggin sucks!!! Where do I go for shoplifting now? 😬
Yeah, look at the price of living now. Homelessness and crime are gonna keep increasing in the near future
Chaos flourishes when evil rules
Change in leadership is needed in SF so vote wisely in the next election.
Soon all the buildings and closed stores will be filled with the zombies. The end is near and SF is OVER
Come visit us in San Jose: Valley Faire Mall next to the very upscale Santana Row.
Contrary to what London Breed says, our stores magically stay in business and have not been wiped out with ecommerce
We have no plans to turn our malls into Safe Injection Sites or Housing for the Homeless (Housing will be provided somewhere else)
Eat at the Left Bank (French) and a host of other places
I used to live in SF
Don't go there much any more
Got my car broken into at Glen Park
Is this where we sng that song america the beautiful and gavin toots toots his horn ?
Not the westfield in sf! That mall is literally the thing that makes me impressed of the city
Ghost town. Because your light on crime.
Looting under $950 no consequence so how SF city can go back on track? 😆 the mayor is joking 😆
They have no shame, they don't care about city and people just filling their pockets.
Wait until the tourist industry dries up; maybe then we'll see some constructive changes.
Grocery stores, restaurants chains and all pharmacies should leave so they can starve
theres no way there going t o fix this problem it all over the place even here in canada
The quality of life there is so bad , but I don’t understand why the rent still high ?
Supply and demand
that mayor has no sense
É muito triste ver que São Francisco está sendo devastada e mesmo assim a mídia tenta esconder. Sempre sonhei em conhecer a cidade, mas como turista não gasto meu dinheiro para visitar lugares perigosos e sujos... foi um sonho que já passou.

Just waiting for Macys to close. Homeless, drug dealers, n criminals can go after each other.
How come nobody is doing anything to stop it 🤷♀️?

The problem is London breed and Gavin newsom NOT admitting it is a failed state.
Its was my dream state to visit when i was young, but now why sf is like that. 😮
London Breed needs to go away, far away
And they want to charge us for parking even on Sundays.

Its expensive rent. Better to have online stores
