Idk i just see it as a fun outro, it would be so perfect. Unlike New years day or daylight it isnt a forced outro so it would just perfect. But it would be a great introduction to lover and would make the listener want to hear the whole album instead of I forgot that you had an existential crisis listening to the ear bleeding song.
guys I didn't intentionally leave lover out lmfao I just forgot her...which speaks volumes i guess...anyway with her included this is my tracklist: 1. cruel summer 2. I think he knows 3. london boy 4. paper rings 5. cornelia street 6. false god 7. death by a thousand cuts 8. the archer 9. miss americana 10. it's nice to have a friend 11. afterglow 12. lover bonus: 13. sygb I CRACKED THE CODE
Before you posted that comment, I thought that lover would be an amazing closing track as it sums up the theme perfectly. Like after all the ups and downs a healthy solid love is still a healthy solid love. So it's a beautiful anthem for the album theme like new romantics was for 1989.
I will skip so many songs from lover, but then when I listen to the ‘live from Paris’ versions I will listen to basically everything. Just shows what the production can do
a lot of people truly don't understand you can like a person and their art, while still giving them criticism! or just disliking certain songs or actions
In defense of I Forgot That You Existed, I think it's a very appropriate transition from Reputation to Lover. The song gives the Lover and carefree vibe for me as well as provides an explanation of how the Rep era ended; she forgot all the people that did her wrong and now she's moving on to her new journey of love. I heard the song first when I'm dealing with someone who is living free rent in my mind and bothered me so much to the point where I can't even live properly without thinking about how much the person did me wrong, and this song really opened my mind and now I can confidently say that I fully got rid of that person. Objectively speaking, I Forgot That You Existed is not as good of an opener as Cruel Summer but it works gracefully and definitely is relatable to most people who had similar experiences. The song served its purpose and the lyrics were easy to understand. It hooked me to the album and I often go back to it just to make fun of my totally obsessive and unhinged old self.
😂 ikr I was thinking most of these songs were going on the bottom of the screen cuz that’s what it sounds like…. but when it’s ur fav artist it’s not easy to have to throw out any of them 🤣 🤣 🤣
I brace myself every time someone ranks it. 😂 It is my favorite too and it breaks my mind trying to figure out what most people are not hearing in it for it to not be more universally loved.
I have become recently obsessed with improved tracklists (specifically after dramatically cutting and rearranging the Red TV track list and now listening to it on repeat), this is a very interesting one! If you feel like doing any more, I would love to hear your takes on Fearless and Red (with the vault tracks included)
False God was a definite grower for me I wasn’t sure of it at first but really love it now. Love what you said about Lover (the album) feeling like a calculated move to capture an earlier, younger energy because that’s absolutely the vibes I’d gotten from it and why I always felt kinda mixed about it.
YNTCD is a bop I’m so sorry. My gay ass was living for it at the Eras tour and I think it’s a really fun song that people are too harsh on. I love that Taylor has some songs that show songs don’t always have to be super serious and can be playful and silly like that.
In retrospect, Lover feels so much like TS trying to convince herself she’s happy in her relationship rather than someone who actually IS happy. “I don’t want to keep secrets just to keep you”-constant pain point in that relationship. Afterglow is like daggers to my soul. Babygirl, you should not have to change everything about yourself to be worthy of someone’s love.
THIS! Yes, exactly! I feel like she truly did love Joe, but I think she was feeling very insecure throughout the whole relationship, blaming herself for the things that man wasn't ready for. Ugh. I'm glad he's gone now.
I LOVE your tracklist, it makes so much sense than the original one. I especially like your decision with Cornelia Street being the track five and Afterglow being the final track - it feels much more authentic and just feels more right to me :D
You Need to Calm Down makes me want to go back in the closet. If any gaylor's ever doubt Taylor's sexuality, which we shouldn't be speaking about her sexuality in the first place, I point them to this song. It is clearly a song trying too hard to be woke when in reality, its a gay song clearly written by a straight woman. All this to say that Welcome To New York is clearly the superior gay anthem if that's what she wanted to write. 'Boys and boys and girls and girls' is really cool word play. 'Shade never made anyone less gay' is trying too hard.
ooo i like this( i realise this is a year old but i’m gonna say the one i made) cruel summer false god paper rings lover cornelia street dbatc inthaf the archer afterglow yntcd london boy need(unreleased) daylight deluxe: ma&thp the man aotgylb lover(remix) cos why not i tried to make a sort of story throughout the album tracks 1-5 falling in love with cornelia street being a bit of worry dbatc being a “breakup” or fault in the relationship( obviosuly the song is fictional bur i’m using my imagination) then inthaf as an interlude and the archer and afterglow being like them coming back together. i actually do like yntcd(unpopular opinion I KNOW) and i thought could be an upbeat moment near the end and then the final 3 tracks are being in love and i actually do like daylight as a closer the deluxe had songs i thought didnt fit sonically and also aotgylb because that provided an alternate closing track that still kinda made sense i don’t mind the man but i do agree it’s a weaker track i also put the remix because why not
also i was torn between london boy or ithk but my heart just said london bot for no specific reason although i thibk those are interchangeable the songs that were cut are iftye ithk (possibly) sygb( i love it but i couldn’t find a place for it and maybe could be on the deluxe) me !
I would definitely put The Archer and Cornelia Street in the top tier next to Cruel Summer, DBTC and Soon You'll Get Better and honestly I would probably put Daylight in second-highiest if not the highiest tier, because I love the bridge in this song especially in a context of Taylor's discography and it also makes me emotional, again considering all that she has been through that she has finally fonund what she was always looking for in love and you can really see it in this song. And lastly my very unpopular opinion is that ME! is kinda a bop. There i said it.
I’ve recently seen a fan theory about INTHAF. The meaning of the name Alwyn is ‘friend’, so with that song, she’s literally saying ‘it’s nice to have an Alwyn’.
Personally I really like ME! I just think it’s fun and it shows how sometimes it is okay to have a good song without super deep lyrics. It is a radio created song, but that doesn’t make it worse.
Same, is it my favourite Taylor song - no, I'm personally more on the Folklore/Evermore, but ME! Is a super bop when I'm coming out of depression, or when I'm at the gym and need some good mood music, I think she probably just wanted a happy song to perform and let out her fun side
If Lover had the 1989 tracklist treatment, it would be something like this... 1. I Think He Knows 2. Cruel Summer 3. Lover 4. Cornelia Street 5. The Archer 6. Paper Rings 7. Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince 8. Death By A Thousand Cuts 9. All of the Girls You Loved Before 10. Need 11. False God 12. Afterglow 13. Daylight Deluxe tracks: 14. I Forgot That You Existed 15. Soon You'll Get Better 16. London Boy
Love "Lover" album and all the songs but still watching and listening because I respect and appreciate your content and of course you analytical skills. ❤
cruel summer- cruel summer, miss americana, paper rings, death by a thousand cuts, london boy, yntcd great gown- the man, cornelia street, soon you'll get better, false god, ME, all of the girls you loved before B list- lover, the archer, i think he knows, afterglow average- i forgot that you existed, daylight i want it unalive- its nice to have a friend
DBATC supremacy ‼️‼️ And it's the law that the bridge must be replayed at least twice in every listen. Also London Boy perfect, Taylor makes corny sound so good when she MEANS IT. Nothing forced, just genuinely loves her London Boy and it shows. 💙 love the vid
I love this album to pieces. I just pretend Me! YNTCD aren’t on it; they legit don’t exist. And I skip The Man, Miss Americana, and London Boy during most listens and it’s perfect!
the only good thing about daylight are the lines i can see it all in my head back and forth from new york sneaking in your bed. it ends there and people banging on twitter about it made it so much worse.
You inspired me and I made my own improved tracklist! This makes the most sense to me storyline wise and musically especially with transitions so I'm gonna pretend this is how Taylor released it- 1. Cruel Summer 2. I Think He Knows 3. The Man (no album is perfect) 4. Death by a Thousand Cuts 5. Soon You'll Get Better 6. It's Nice to have a Friend 7. London Boy 8. Daylight 9. Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince 10. The Archer 11. False God 12. Afterglow 13. Cornelia Street 14. Lover Bonus Track- Paper Rings
This is actually starting to make a lot of sense. The tracklisting was very nice and I see most of what you didn't like in Lover was the marketing/promotion/forcedness of it all. The cut tracks were all 4 singles, the opener, and the closer. And I feel like it's completely understandable for those issues.
Imo Lover tracklist should be - Cruel summer - I think he knows - DBATC - London boy - Cornelia Street - False god - Daylight - The Archer - Miss Americana - Afterglow It’s kinda similar to your version ( which I looove) but I cut more songs Singles would be : Cruel summer ofc (lead), Cornelia Street, I think he knows, London boy and/or False god
completely agree with the cruel summer category and i feel like if she chose better singles lover (a) would've been much more appreciated. also ithk and dbatc deserve all the love in the world they're amazing
I think Afterglow could be a track 5... like it gives the archer but different because she really lays it all out in the bridge. its vulnerable and uncertain but also kinda hopeful.
“She’s a corny bitch, she loves her london boy and *that’s her right* !“ Periodt. I was so surprised when you cut daylight, because i used to love it, but makes sense.
honestly i don’t mind daylight. in comparison to a lot of her other love songs, closing tracks, and songs on lover it ranks pretty low for me. but i never really considered what you said about it feeling forced like she wanted to write a song to fit the aesthetic of the album she wanted to make and honestly it’s a really great point. i think the overall idea of finding love that makes all of your past romantic hardships fade into the background is really sweet and everything, but it could’ve been done in a much better way. the structure, the production, and the cheesy voicemail outro were pretty lackluster to me to the point where i’d much rather listen to a song like call it what you want or begin again if i want to listen to a song with a similar theme 🫣
DAYLIGHT IS ONE OF MY TOP 5 TAYLOR SWIFT SONGSGSGSGSGG But ofc i respect ur opinion however i do think it definitely expresses a new idea better than afterglow
I would love to see this tier ranking/Fixing the track list sort of video with some of her other albums (Rep, Fearless TV and Debut come to mind [mostly because I think Speak Now is a perfect track list])
My tracklist of Lover: I love all tracks, i wouldn't cut any of them. My tracklist is telling a story about a some girl (Taylor) who's after dark times finally on right track and also finding her true love. She's often deeply thinking what's happening and what happened in past and she might be a politic maybe. 1. I Forgot That You Existed This is perfect opener in my opinion, this songs is like pure opposite of songs like IDSB, LWYMMD, TIWWCHNT, it's a goodbye to Rep era, and just show that she's now on different place and that she doesn't care about this shit anymore. 2. Cruel Summer 3. I Think He Knows 4. London Boy Start of story: 2 people are starting dating, they starting to know each other and falling for each other. Everything is amazing and fun, just like begins of relationships are. Those 3 songs shows first stages of love and relationship, so them being on begin of the album has perfect sense. 5. The Archer 6. Cornelia Street 7. Death By Thousand Cuts In those songs the storyline is: She's absolutely happy, everything is perfect and how it should be, and that's why she's scared and starting overthinking what would happen if she lost all of this. In The Archer she's thinking about everything, what happened in past, what might happen and that this time she really wants to fight for her happiness. And Cornelia Street and Death By Thousand Cuts are her imagery of this break up and how it would be. They are complete opposites: In Cornelia Street she's thinking that if it happened she could never love again, but in Death By Thousand Cuts she's realizing that even though it'll be painful like a 1000 cuts, at the end it'd be ok. 8. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 9. The Man 10. You Need To Calm Down She's in happy relationship but she also has her career and her opinions about how society works, so that's what she's telling about in those songs. Those 3 tracks kinda shows political side of her and her social opinions. MA&THP has kinda 2 lifes in my opinion. It's a picture of presidential election in 2016 of Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump. But it's made in scenario of something like high school class president election. But Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince can also be Taylor and Joe, but in this, heartbreak prince isn't opponent but lover of Miss Americana who came to her life after a heartbreak, that's why heartbreak prince. And it's basically quite the same, Miss Americana is fighting against something or somebody and is trying to win some election or something like that, she's trying to improve the world or situation bla bla bla and The Heartbreak Prince is here to support her, but it's hard because there are a lot haters who don't listen and instead saying she's a bad bad girl, but her lover (the heartbreak prince) doesn't care and is still by her side. Then after this political song we have next The Man and You Need To Calm Down where she's talking about her opinions about how our society works, she's talking about sexism and homophobia, about how people are trying to putting women against each other and .... and how it should be fixed. Let's say that Miss Americana (Taylor) won this election and now in The Man she's thinking about if all she achieved she'd done earlier or easier if she was a man, she's thinking about sexism and stuff. And then in You Need To Calm Down she's thinking about homophobia and how people are putting women against each other and she's calling for equality. 11. Paper Rings 12. Lover Their relationship is at it's peak, they're in love more than ever and both are secretly thinking about wedding and future. But i don't feel they got married, instead i love scenario more like both don't know that the other one is thinking about it too. 13. False God 14. Afterglow 15. ME! After a long time of just pure love we have our first big troubles in paradise. They find out that living together can be really hard and they almost break up, but they realizing that they don't want to lose each other, so they're trying to work on their differences and save their relationship, and it works they're back stronger than ever. In False God we see first cracks in relationship, it isn't like it was before. She's reflecting on past and analyzing current situation, she doesn't want to lose him so she decided to fight for them. at first she's trying to resolve it sexually and is trying to show that there is still love. In Afterglow it's getting even worse, they have a pause and he's leaving to think about everything alone, she's realizing it's her fault and she's apologizing and begging for another chance. After some time and a lot of thinking he's realizing he also doesn't want to lose her and coming back. In ME! she's trying to show him that there is nobody other like her and it works. They're back and love is stronger than ever. 16. It's Nice To Have A Friend 17. Daylight At the end of album she's reflecting on everything and they're taking another step in their relationship, they're getting married. In It's Nice To Have A Friend she's saying that there's more than just romance in their bond, there is also this incredible friendship. I don't know why but this song always felt to me like a wedding song. In Daylight she's reflecting and analyzing her whole life, she found true love and is ready for future with her only one. (18. Soon You'll Get Better - BONUS TRACK - Soon You'll Get Better is beautiful song and it fits to theme of album, but it absolutely doesn't fit to storyline at all. In this i agree with you that making it a bonus track would be right.)
Ok but why do people hate the man so much? I’m genuinely trying to understand. I think that as a woman who has faced immense scrutiny from the media, Taylor makes really good points in that song.
I agree with most of this video except for the man hate....of course a man doesn't get the song the man 😭 I think people don't like the song because taylor isn't allowed to have struggles in their eyes since she is rich - these people fail to realise that even successful and famous women are still subject to misogyny.
Personally, I find it extremely grating for possibly the biggest pop star of this generation to write an entire song about how her life would be so much easier if she were a man instead. Like hearing a multimillionaire complain that she would be richer if she were a man is very off putting. Is Taylor a victim of sexism? Obviously! But I don't think the average person wants to hear her complain about how her life could be easier when she's so privileged already. If she had put it out in, say, 2014, I think people would have eaten it up. But to put that out at a time when people were starting to discuss how class affects people's experiences was SUPER tone deaf, imo.
I really love your Spotify playlist, the album really sounds perfect and the reorder is great ! I love daylight because of the melody but I agree with you about the lyrics
As a major lover stan I’ve been binging your videos so hard. I love your channel so much lol I appreciate your opinions even though i highly disagree :)
I Forgot That You Existed is my least favorite opener of ANY album ever - I cant fully explain it or put it into words, but the most tangible critisism I can form is that it just doesn't do anything to ease you into the album. I probably wouldnt have hated the song so much if it was halfway through the album
OMG, I finally thought I’d give it a go and created a playlist with Lover songs based on what the Swiftologist prescribed… wow, this is exactly a fun bubbly album that Lover was meant to be! Now I’ll actually reach out for these songs again. It’s awesome!!
If I had to remake Lover's tracklist, according to what she said and sold the album about, an open letter to the complexity of love, regardless of the type or form, exploring political themes, etc. It would be like this. (Tracklist) 1 - Cruel Summer 2 - Lover 3 - The Man 4 - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 5 - The Archer 6 - Soon You'll Get Better 7 - False God 8 - I Think He Knows 9 - Paper Rings 10 - Death By a Thousand Cuts 11 - Afterglow 12 - Need 13 - All Of The Girls You Loved Before 14 - Cornelia Street 15 - Daylight 16 - Only the Young *Note: I put "Only the Young" as the closing track because it reinforces her desire to be more political with this album and sounds more tolerable and less forced as an ending track than "Daylight". And OTY as the closing track helps the album to be cohesive in lyrical themes and in the sound maturity. And OTY manages to encapsulate the message of hope and equality better than YNTCD. But if that doesn't make sense to you, then consider "Daylight" as the closing track.
I love the idea of a patreon as a safe space! I loved this video, I've always had very similar problems with Lover, but I rescue that there are some masterpieces in it and I love that you could give them the highlight they deserve. Love the idea of telling the story of how it feels being in love, however even though I don't know where I would have put it, I would have keep Lover PD1: Absolutely agree with I think he knows, it is highly underrated! And also I LOVE False God, is another underrated masterpiece. PD2: sorry if there is any mistakes, English is not my language and it is easier for me to listen than to write 😅
i feel like ME! could have been improved a lot if it was less pop-y and more of a piano version? i haven’t watched miss americana in a little while so correct me if i’m wrong, but i kind of remember her playing it on the piano as she wrote it and at least to me it sounded a lot better.
The "pub we" situation was recently rediscovered on tumblr by the general public and I can't even bring myself to defend it lmao On a similar note, I always thought it was "I wanna keep secrets just to keep 'you and I'", kind of like "so much for summer love and saying "us"". "To keep you" does make more sense grammatically however, now I think about it. orz
I love how cruel summer tier is the highest you can be. That song is so untouchable. To be honest before I became a swiftie I heard cruel summer everywhere and didn't like it so much. But as my love for Taylor increased, I realized that song is everything 😊😊
this is two years later so i highly doubt anyones gonna see this, but in regards to the stickers maybe one that has a pic from the fortnight mv? Js a thought :) (also ur right u did fix the trackist!!)
Much like your opinion of the album, "Lover," as a full album, is also one of my least favorites by Taylor. I'd say that, besides the Self-Titled debut album (which given it was excellent at the time it was released, she has only improved from there and hence I cannot justify putting it any higher given how infrequently I revisit the album as a whole), Lover is my least favorite album. I'd say that the reason for this is because of the songs ME! and You Need To Calm Down, but also two other songs that I am also not particularly fond of, being The Archer and False God. With that being said, those 4 tracks would be the 4 that I would cut from the album, although The Archer and False God would still easily be viable candidates for the album thematically. Although I have not personally thought of a reworked track list, I adore the idea of Cruel Summer being the opening track, Afterglow being the closing track, Cornelia Street being the track 5, and Soon You'll Get Better being respectfully available to the public as a bonus track, separating it from the other notions and facets of love given to us on the album. Additionally, cutting ME!, You Need To Calm Down, and The Archer from the track list also means we open up three slots for singles. First, my choice for the opening single to replace ME! would easily be Cruel Summer, and the single to immediately follow that, like You Need To Calm Down does for ME!, would be Paper Rings or I Think He Knows. Since I also chose to cut The Archer, I'd replace the lyric video for it with Cornelia Street to fit the visual choice that was made for The Archer. Of course, these are just all my opinions that I thought I'd share, but overall, I loved this video and would absolutely prefer your version of Lover over the version that currently exists. Thanks for more great content!
Re organized lover track list Cruel summer I think he knows Paper rings London boy Cornelia street False god Death by a thousand cuts The archer Miss Americana Its nice to have a Afterglow Soon you’ll get better
i'm veryyyy late but here's mine (including need & aotg): 1. cruel summer 2. i think he knows 3. need 4. cornelia street 5. afterglow 6. false god 7. soon you'll get better 8. the archer 9. miss americana & the heartbreaker prince 10. paper rings 10. lover 12. all of the girls you loved before 13. daylight

Okay, so I created my own version of the tracklist based on yours: 1) Cruel summer 2) I think he knows 3) Paper rings 4) Cornelia Street 5) The Archer (this reads to me as an anxious, spiraling song that adds tension to the narrative--will her insecurities get the best of her and sabotage the relationship? (love this for a track 5 tbh) 6) DBATC 7) Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince 8) it's nice to have a friend 9) false god (more of a resolution song to me) 10) afterglow 11) daylight (yes i put it back LOL!) 12) Lover You got rid of Daylight, i got rid of London Boy 😂 great tracklist though, i had a lot of fun listening to it!
Omg I love this vid: here’s my re arranged track list: 1. I Think He Knows 2. Cruel Summer 3. Lover 4. Cornelia Street 5. Death By A Thousand Cuts (the truest track 5 that wasn’t the case) 6. False God 7. The Archer (I love this fight me, just less than false god and cruel summer) 8. Soon You’ll Get Better (recovering of the horrifying struggles known as the archer, her mother is singing to her) 9. Afterglow 10. Paper rings 11. The man 12. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 13. It’s Nice To Have A Friend 14. Daylight (I fucking died when I first heard it on release day, I still love it) (Edit:) 9. Afterglow 10. Paper Rings 11. London Boy 12. The Man 13. Miss Americana 14. Have A Friend 15. Daylight
aaaaahhhhh wow i LOVE the suggestion to make cornelia street the track 5. i also totally appreciate ur journalist integrity/sensibilities in not personally loving the song but still absolutely recognizing it for what it is!! and that is, in my opinion, a sentimental af bop. one of my 10 taylor songs i just find the emotional experience (associating people and places and memories. so heavily to the point where things can be ruined for u if the person/relationship goes awry!) she's describing in it so striking and relatable and beautiful aaghhhh 🤎🤎🤎
1. Cruel summer 2. I think he knows 3. Paper rings 4. London boy 5. Cornelia Street 6. False god 7. Death by a thousand cuts 8. Archer 9. Miss Americana & the heartbreak prince 10. Its nice to have a friend 11. Afterglow
I really need your full opinion on Haylor, from my point of view it is a VERY controversial subject and you are a great narrator and speaker so it would be interesting to see what are your thoughts on that relationship.
wow we have very very different opinions on lover. my personal ranking list is 1. cruel summer (obviously) 2. cornelia street 3. the archer (the fact that it doesn’t give a drop but it’s waiting for one is literally how my anxiety feels and i feel like that’s definitely intentional and i love it) 4. daylight (i honestly just love the way she worked her vocals) 5. afterglow 6. lover (i’d actually tie it with afterglow but whatever) 7. paper rings (but more of a personal opinion because it reminds me of my current relationship) 8. miss americana 9. soon you’ll get better 10. i forgot that you existed 11. i think he knows 12. false god (i hate sax solos no offense) 13. death by a thousand cuts 14. london boy (ew sorry its just so like corny and not my style but we love joe so) 15. it’s nice to have a friend (just doesn’t slap for me) 16. the man 17. you need to calm down (she could have done so much better) 18. me (just ew no thank you)
Not that anyone asked but My tracklist would be: 1)Lover 2)I think he knows 3)Paper rings 4)London boy 5)Cornelia Street 6)False God 7)Death by a thousand cuts 8)The Archer 9)Miss Americana 10)A random track that wasn’t even in the real album 11)Another random track 12)Afterglow 13)Cruel summer HEAR ME OUT PLSSSS Cruel summer as a intro would make people have high expectations and if there isnt a song equally as good or even better it would be underwhelming. Its. fun way to end it the album off. The would be a deluxe version 14)Random track 15)Random track 16)The Man (lets be real its not a song about love but she needs a feminist anthem so purr) 17)Soon you’ll get better 2 Demos idk And an extended version of Cruel summer...(only if except-able but cruel summer doesn’t need one) (so maybe just an extended version of something yknow)
My re-arranged lover tracklist: 1.) Cruel Summer 2.) Lover 3.) The Archer 4.) Paper Rings 5.) Cornelia Street 6.) I think he knows 7.) Miss Americana & The heartbreak prince 8.) The Man 9.) False God 10.) London Boy 11.) Death by a Thousand Cuts 12.) It’s nice to have a friend 13.) Soon you’ll get better 14.) Afterglow 15.) Daylight 16.) Only the Young ( The Vault ) Me! is not apart of the album it can go die but it is a really good collab so I will say special track
1. Cruel Summer 2. I Think He Knows 3. Paper Rings 4. London Boy 5. Cornelia Street 6. False God 7. Death By A Thousand Cuts 8. The Archer 9. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 10. It's Nice To Have A Friend 11. Afterglow 12. Soon You'll Get Better (Bonus)
Cruel Summer as an opening track would have been such a State of Grace moment, just excellence.
Maybe even better than SoG
Idk i just see it as a fun outro, it would be so perfect. Unlike New years day or daylight it isnt a forced outro so it would just perfect. But it would be a great introduction to lover and would make the listener want to hear the whole album instead of I forgot that you had an existential crisis listening to the ear bleeding song.
@@kalebhoulel.3161 now...
Nowadays he would be so pissed at you for saying this cause he’s tired of lover being compared to red
guys I didn't intentionally leave lover out lmfao I just forgot her...which speaks volumes i guess...anyway with her included this is my tracklist:
1. cruel summer
2. I think he knows
3. london boy
4. paper rings
5. cornelia street
6. false god
7. death by a thousand cuts
8. the archer
9. miss americana
10. it's nice to have a friend
11. afterglow
12. lover
bonus: 13. sygb
I CRACKED THE CODE
Before you posted that comment, I thought that lover would be an amazing closing track as it sums up the theme perfectly. Like after all the ups and downs a healthy solid love is still a healthy solid love. So it's a beautiful anthem for the album theme like new romantics was for 1989.
Did you also forget The Man?

I was never good at telling jokes but the punchline goes: we’ll never get a cruel summer music video but we had Taylor Swift in dress made of paint.
STOPPPPPPPP
That may change 🤞😣
I have a feeling that there was a MV ready to go but then covid happened. If that is true then she should release it this summer.
ME HE HEEE!! HOHOHOOOH! I'm the only one of me.. Baby that's the fun of me..
@@rocio_27 how could that change?
Suggestion for video:
10 songs I would remove from Taylor Swift’s discography or something along the lines of that
Oh that’s spicy love that
The fact that We hate lover just because 4 songs that are terrible just say something in HOW MUCH TERRIBLE THEY ARE.
Very true
Just 4??? You sure about that? 😂
@@Im_Julissa well, surely more, but you get it 😂
😂 ikr I was thinking most of these songs were going on the bottom of the screen cuz that’s what it sounds like…. but when it’s ur fav artist it’s not easy to have to throw out any of them 🤣 🤣 🤣
honestly in my opinion lover has some of my favorite songs from taylor but also some of the worst songs she could possibly make lol
Daylight is one of my favorite Taylor songs 😃
same:(
Same!! I love it so much!
Mine, too! The live in Paris version is extraordinary
me too 😭😭😭
Same lol
false god is easily my favorite song on the album. i’m so glad you rated it where it deserves to be
I brace myself every time someone ranks it. 😂 It is my favorite too and it breaks my mind trying to figure out what most people are not hearing in it for it to not be more universally loved.
I know right ?! It's soo good, my no 1 from lover for sure
it’s my no.1 from her whole discography
I don't necessarily agree with every song on your tier ranking, but the tracklist reshuffle and cuts were perfect, you've done it again!
I have become recently obsessed with improved tracklists (specifically after dramatically cutting and rearranging the Red TV track list and now listening to it on repeat), this is a very interesting one! If you feel like doing any more, I would love to hear your takes on Fearless and Red (with the vault tracks included)
Oh, I'd love to see that track list, can you share it here please?
I just feel like such a traitor doing it to red…but even she has some stragglers
Ooo would you mind if we saw your red tracklist?
False God was a definite grower for me I wasn’t sure of it at first but really love it now.
Love what you said about Lover (the album) feeling like a calculated move to capture an earlier, younger energy because that’s absolutely the vibes I’d gotten from it and why I always felt kinda mixed about it.
I hit the like button when you gave I Think He Knows her rightful praise. so underrated by the swifties and FOR WHAT
YNTCD is a bop I’m so sorry.
But he forgot about “lover”
ITHK is totally underrated. It’s a happy bop, and I always love it. Underrated.
It just fills me w joy
You Need to Calm Down makes me want to go back in the closet. If any gaylor's ever doubt Taylor's sexuality, which we shouldn't be speaking about her sexuality in the first place, I point them to this song. It is clearly a song trying too hard to be woke when in reality, its a gay song clearly written by a straight woman.
All this to say that Welcome To New York is clearly the superior gay anthem if that's what she wanted to write. 'Boys and boys and girls and girls' is really cool word play. 'Shade never made anyone less gay' is trying too hard.
Correction, treacherous and dancing w our hands tied are the superior gay anthems
@@jotunfalls4026 don't forget cowboy like me!
@betty there is nothing heterosexual about that song
@@jotunfalls4026 I don’t see any of those songs as gay, but I will say there are songs of her’s that may be.

my lover tracklist !!
ooo i like this( i realise this is a year old but i’m gonna say the one i made)
cruel summer
false god
paper rings
lover
cornelia street
dbatc
inthaf
the archer
afterglow
yntcd
london boy
need(unreleased)
daylight
deluxe:
ma&thp
the man
aotgylb
lover(remix) cos why not
i tried to make a sort of story throughout the album tracks 1-5 falling in love with cornelia street being a bit of worry
dbatc being a “breakup” or fault in the relationship( obviosuly the song is fictional bur i’m using my imagination) then inthaf as an interlude and the archer and afterglow being like them coming back together. i actually do like yntcd(unpopular opinion I KNOW) and i thought could be an upbeat moment near the end and then the final 3 tracks are being in love and i actually do like daylight as a closer
the deluxe had songs i thought didnt fit sonically and also aotgylb because that provided an alternate closing track that still kinda made sense
i don’t mind the man but i do agree it’s a weaker track
i also put the remix because why not
also i was torn between london boy or ithk but my heart just said london bot for no specific reason although i thibk those are interchangeable
the songs that were cut are
iftye
ithk (possibly)
sygb( i love it but i couldn’t find a place for it and maybe could be on the deluxe)
me !
Putting Afterglow in the B list is a war crime🥴
Agreed 😂
Real 😢
Agreed
I would definitely put The Archer and Cornelia Street in the top tier next to Cruel Summer, DBTC and Soon You'll Get Better and honestly I would probably put Daylight in second-highiest if not the highiest tier, because I love the bridge in this song especially in a context of Taylor's discography and it also makes me emotional, again considering all that she has been through that she has finally fonund what she was always looking for in love and you can really see it in this song. And lastly my very unpopular opinion is that ME! is kinda a bop. There i said it.
Girl you're not alone
Loooove the “I think he knows” appreciation!! Always has and always will be my favorite Lover track!! Deserved to be a single 💖
This comment right here 👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏼
Same, is it my favourite Taylor song - no, I'm personally more on the Folklore/Evermore, but ME! Is a super bop when I'm coming out of depression, or when I'm at the gym and need some good mood music, I think she probably just wanted a happy song to perform and let out her fun side
@@Peppermintsssss YESSSS EXACTLY
LIVING for your takes on everything - I always felt that this album could be reworked to be something great and now you’ve done it 👏🏻
She just needed some TLC
If Lover had the 1989 tracklist treatment, it would be something like this...
1. I Think He Knows
2. Cruel Summer
3. Lover
4. Cornelia Street
5. The Archer
6. Paper Rings
7. Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince
8. Death By A Thousand Cuts
9. All of the Girls You Loved Before
10. Need
11. False God
12. Afterglow
13. Daylight
Deluxe tracks:
14. I Forgot That You Existed
15. Soon You'll Get Better
16. London Boy
i dont know why but i always cry with daylight. dont know what it issssssss but i love it
Tbh I would love to see you do this exact video with 1989 including deluxe
Honestly I would just cut I know places…the 1989 track list is rly good
Love "Lover" album and all the songs but still watching and listening because I respect and appreciate your content and of course you analytical skills. ❤
cruel summer- cruel summer, miss americana, paper rings, death by a thousand cuts, london boy, yntcd
great gown- the man, cornelia street, soon you'll get better, false god, ME, all of the girls you loved before
B list- lover, the archer, i think he knows, afterglow
average- i forgot that you existed, daylight
i want it unalive- its nice to have a friend
This is true
DBATC supremacy ‼️‼️ And it's the law that the bridge must be replayed at least twice in every listen. Also London Boy perfect, Taylor makes corny sound so good when she MEANS IT. Nothing forced, just genuinely loves her London Boy and it shows. 💙 love the vid
I love this album to pieces. I just pretend Me! YNTCD aren’t on it; they legit don’t exist. And I skip The Man, Miss Americana, and London Boy during most listens and it’s perfect!
im still not over with "the altar is my hips" -false god it is truly a cruel summer tier!!
no it ISSSSS no one understands her!
the only good thing about daylight are the lines i can see it all in my head back and forth from new york sneaking in your bed. it ends there and people banging on twitter about it made it so much worse.
Tea
You inspired me and I made my own improved tracklist! This makes the most sense to me storyline wise and musically especially with transitions so I'm gonna pretend this is how Taylor released it-
1. Cruel Summer
2. I Think He Knows
3. The Man (no album is perfect)
4. Death by a Thousand Cuts
5. Soon You'll Get Better
6. It's Nice to have a Friend
7. London Boy
8. Daylight
9. Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince
10. The Archer
11. False God
12. Afterglow
13. Cornelia Street
14. Lover
Bonus Track- Paper Rings
singles would be Cruel Summer (obviously), Miss Americana, and Lover :)
This is actually starting to make a lot of sense. The tracklisting was very nice and I see most of what you didn't like in Lover was the marketing/promotion/forcedness of it all. The cut tracks were all 4 singles, the opener, and the closer. And I feel like it's completely understandable for those issues.
Imo Lover tracklist should be
- Cruel summer
- I think he knows
- DBATC
- London boy
- Cornelia Street
- False god
- Daylight
- The Archer
- Miss Americana
- Afterglow
It’s kinda similar to your version ( which I looove) but I cut more songs
Singles would be : Cruel summer ofc (lead), Cornelia Street, I think he knows, London boy and/or False god
I love 'You Need To Calm Down' and 'Daylight'... but I'm also loving your channel, so I'm refusing to leave
completely agree with the cruel summer category and i feel like if she chose better singles lover (a) would've been much more appreciated. also ithk and dbatc deserve all the love in the world they're amazing
I think Afterglow could be a track 5... like it gives the archer but different because she really lays it all out in the bridge. its vulnerable and uncertain but also kinda hopeful.
“She’s a corny bitch, she loves her london boy and *that’s her right* !“
Periodt.
Weird unpopular opinion:
MA&THBP would’ve worked well as an opening track
DAYLIGHT IS ONE OF MY TOP 5 TAYLOR SWIFT SONGSGSGSGSGG
But ofc i respect ur opinion however i do think it definitely expresses a new idea better than afterglow
please do a literary academic analysis of one of the songs on folklore/evermore (like the lakes, tolerate it, happiness, etc..)? 😁
love that idea!!
Not you cutting lover out of an album called lover 💀
I cannot believe I forgot her. For the record I would not take lover off of lover
@@theswiftologistphew you scared md
I would love to see this tier ranking/Fixing the track list sort of video with some of her other albums (Rep, Fearless TV and Debut come to mind [mostly because I think Speak Now is a perfect track list])
My tracklist of Lover: I love all tracks, i wouldn't cut any of them.
My tracklist is telling a story about a some girl (Taylor) who's after dark times finally on right track and also finding her true love. She's often deeply thinking what's happening and what happened in past and she might be a politic maybe.
1. I Forgot That You Existed
This is perfect opener in my opinion, this songs is like pure opposite of songs like IDSB, LWYMMD, TIWWCHNT, it's a goodbye to Rep era, and just show that she's now on different place and that she doesn't care about this shit anymore.
2. Cruel Summer
3. I Think He Knows
4. London Boy
Start of story: 2 people are starting dating, they starting to know each other and falling for each other. Everything is amazing and fun, just like begins of relationships are. Those 3 songs shows first stages of love and relationship, so them being on begin of the album has perfect sense.
5. The Archer
6. Cornelia Street
7. Death By Thousand Cuts
In those songs the storyline is: She's absolutely happy, everything is perfect and how it should be, and that's why she's scared and starting overthinking what would happen if she lost all of this.
8. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
9. The Man
10. You Need To Calm Down
She's in happy relationship but she also has her career and her opinions about how society works, so that's what she's telling about in those songs.
11. Paper Rings
12. Lover
Their relationship is at it's peak, they're in love more than ever and both are secretly thinking about wedding and future. But i don't feel they got married, instead i love scenario more like both don't know that the other one is thinking about it too.
13. False God
14. Afterglow
16. It's Nice To Have A Friend
17. Daylight
At the end of album she's reflecting on everything and they're taking another step in their relationship, they're getting married.
Without all the background and stuff and as a standalone song IFTYE is not bad at all. It's very fun and cute and carefree
Inthaf IS QUEEN FOREVER I LOVE IT SO MUCH ITS DIFFERENTFROM EVERYTHING ELSE AND ITS SO BEAUTIFUL
I agree 😊
Make a playlist of 13 songs to introduce a newbie to her excellency.
I love that you love I think he knows, I always have to defend why its one of my fave Taylor songs
lmao the archer is actually my favorite track 5 and favorite on lover 😭
Jail
@@mariafernanda8491 never. Nothing is wrong with The Archer. If you hate it because it's "boring"...then idk what to say
Also, I think she encapsulated the sexism she faced much better in "Nothing New"
This video made my day, I love when you upload!
So glad you liked it!!
What do you think of All of The Girls You Loved Before now?
Really enjoying these style of videos! I’m even creating the playlists with your ranking to experience the storytelling you’ve described
(Tracklist)
1 - Cruel Summer
2 - Lover
3 - The Man
4 - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
5 - The Archer
6 - Soon You'll Get Better
7 - False God
8 - I Think He Knows
9 - Paper Rings
10 - Death By a Thousand Cuts
11 - Afterglow
12 - Need
13 - All Of The Girls You Loved Before
14 - Cornelia Street
15 - Daylight
16 - Only the Young
*Note: I put "Only the Young" as the closing track because it reinforces her desire to be more political with this album and sounds more tolerable and less forced as an ending track than "Daylight".
Love the idea of telling the story of how it feels being in love, however even though I don't know where I would have put it, I would have keep Lover
PD1: Absolutely agree with I think he knows, it is highly underrated! And also I LOVE False God, is another underrated masterpiece.
PD2: sorry if there is any mistakes, English is not my language and it is easier for me to listen than to write 😅
Sorry but Daylight is pure magic
I love your videos so much and I rewatch them all the time
Thank u so much!
DAYLIGHT IS AMAZING WHATTT
i feel like ME! could have been improved a lot if it was less pop-y and more of a piano version? i haven’t watched miss americana in a little while so correct me if i’m wrong, but i kind of remember her
playing it on the piano as she wrote it and at least to me it sounded a lot better.
Yes!! It sounded so beautiful on the piano!!
Agreed
The "pub we" situation was recently rediscovered on tumblr by the general public and I can't even bring myself to defend it lmao
On a similar note, I always thought it was "I wanna keep secrets just to keep 'you and I'", kind of like "so much for summer love and saying "us"".
I honestly totally respect your opinion i love your channel a lot i may not agree with it but you are my one taylor swift channel ❤️
this is two years later so i highly doubt anyones gonna see this, but in regards to the stickers maybe one that has a pic from the fortnight mv? Js a thought :) (also ur right u did fix the trackist!!)
Justice for Paper Rings & The Archer
Daylight as unalive is CRAY ZEE

Okay, so I created my own version of the tracklist based on yours:
1) Cruel summer
2) I think he knows
3) Paper rings
4) Cornelia Street
5) The Archer (this reads to me as an anxious, spiraling song that adds tension to the narrative--will her insecurities get the best of her and sabotage the relationship? (love this for a track 5 tbh)
6) DBATC
7) Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince
8) it's nice to have a friend
9) false god (more of a resolution song to me)
10) afterglow
11) daylight (yes i put it back LOL!)

12. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
13. It’s Nice To Have A Friend

I almost cried when you didn't kill paper rings because i love it
bestie, you have done it again. constantly raising the bar for all of us!! can’t believe you made lover (the album) tolerable LMFAOOO
aaaaahhhhh wow i LOVE the suggestion to make cornelia street the track 5. i also totally appreciate ur journalist integrity/sensibilities in not personally loving the song but still absolutely recognizing it for what it is!! and that is, in my opinion, a sentimental af bop. one of my 10 taylor songs i just find the emotional experience (associating people and places and memories. so heavily to the point where things can be ruined for u if the person/relationship goes awry!) she's describing in it so striking and relatable and beautiful aaghhhh 🤎🤎🤎
1. Cruel summer
2. I think he knows
3. Paper rings
4. London boy
5. Cornelia Street
6. False god
7. Death by a thousand cuts
8. Archer
9. Miss Americana & the heartbreak prince
10. Its nice to have a friend
11. Afterglow
omg thank god you put I think he knows in cruel summer because it is VERY UNDERRATED and the bridge is so good
i appreciate an intelligent and actually thoughtful analysis of taylor and her music from a swiftie!
I really need your full opinion on Haylor, from my point of view it is a VERY controversial subject and you are a great narrator and speaker so it would be interesting to see what are your thoughts on that relationship.
check out my podcast, the evolution of a snake! we go into detail on Taylor in our 2012 part 2 and 2013 episodes
@@theswiftologist im listening to it now, it's fucking amazing
I deserve an acoustic lover album so bad
wow we have very very different opinions on lover. my personal ranking list is
1. cruel summer (obviously)
2. cornelia street
3. the archer (the fact that it doesn’t give a drop but it’s waiting for one is literally how my anxiety feels and i feel like that’s definitely intentional and i love it)
4. daylight (i honestly just love the way she worked her vocals)
5. afterglow
6. lover (i’d actually tie it with afterglow but whatever)
7. paper rings (but more of a personal opinion because it reminds me of my current relationship)
8. miss americana
9. soon you’ll get better
10. i forgot that you existed
11. i think he knows
12. false god (i hate sax solos no offense)

15. it’s nice to have a friend (just doesn’t slap for me)
16. the man
17. you need to calm down (she could have done so much better)
18. me (just ew no thank you)
I agree with the last three, but not necessarily in that order.
Not that anyone asked but My tracklist would be:

11)Another random track
12)Afterglow

HEAR ME OUT PLSSSS
Cruel summer as a intro would make people have high expectations and if there isnt a song equally as good or even better it would be underwhelming. Its. fun way to end it the album off.
The would be a deluxe version
14)Random track
15)Random track
16)The Man (lets be real its not a song about love but she needs a feminist anthem so purr)
17)Soon you’ll get better
2 Demos idk
And an extended version of Cruel summer...(only if except-able but cruel summer doesn’t need one) (so maybe just an extended version of something yknow)
My re-arranged lover tracklist:
