That's the thing about Taylor Swift that grinds my gears: she is incredibly cynical and is willing to step all over other people to get to where she wants and then plays dumb when people call her out. She definitely weaponizes her fanbase and feels so invincible that she uses them to surpress any (very valid) criticism. Though she came after her own fans in this album because they criticized her fling with Matty. Rules for thee but not for me is her motto, I guess.
@@TheMisterEMS She’s always been like this. She was very direct and mean the first few years, but then was taught how to behave to make it big. She realized acting nice and cute would help her and it did. Good girl my ass. A good girl doesn’t sleep with 20 guys 😂😂💀💀
@@CeeC_CeeC TBF it's not about how many people she sleeps with. IDK about that. I care about the unchecked death threats, the lawsuit against the guy, dating and defending a man who touched underage girls at his concerts, dating multiple teen boys in her 20s, gouging her fans - that's what shows her character.
How does she do all that? Her fans have a will of their own. I’m not a Swiftie, but I did listen to her new album and have determined she actually has talent and has worked hard to get where she is. That’s all.

exactly, both are prob the 2 biggest artists in the world. They can keep releasing mediocre albums and still sell millions and gain endless praise(at least drake made good music at one point)
Do they even realize how bad they make their favorite artist look by being such a toxic group of fans. Like I’m pretty sure there’s a good chunk of people that won’t even give her a chance based solely on their toxic behavior.
I've tried to like Taylor Swift. There are some old songs I like, but there is something about her that won't let me be a real fan. I can't put my finger on it as to why, but I know at some point, whatever it is, will come to light. Maybe it's the way she handles criticism. She won't allow it as if to do so would break open a dam that would take her down.
I think she's always had a curated image that was very artificial. Her father is a billionaire stock broker who bought major stock in the major record label that signed her just weeks before it did. Her success has always been artificial, and she has always been a corporate product. People are waking up now, though.
I generally love Taylor Swift's music. Spotify says I'm in the top 1% of listeners if that says anything. I don't care about her relationships until the men involved in them become characters in her songs. This album makes me feel like I've failed because I can't relate to or understand these songs from her perspective at all. I suppose I didn't do the homework but when did it become expected to study before a T.S. album releases? Most of the songs on the album are vicious and hateful. Breakup songs aren't necessarily fun to listen to, but this album absolutely drops my mood. I haven't even been able to get through it yet. And you're right, I've kept tuning out halfway into each song because they're so boring. I don't know how she managed to write lyrics that are so "personal" yet make it sound so uninteresting. It's impressive. You put my half-formed thoughts into words and it's helped me understand why this album rubbed me the wrong way. Thanks for that. I wish Swifties didn't worship her so much and were willing to listen to criticism people have about her because a lot of it is valid. It's important not to worship people, even if we like their art sometimes, because everyone has flaws.
I'm also someone who is in the top 1% and listened to all her songs BUT is not a Swiftie. Taylor has always written about her exes. Even as a casual fan I've been able to decipher who each song is about. However, in TTPD she makes soo obvious it's about Matty Healy that I cannot separate him from the song at all. The last thing I want to do is think about Matty Healy. Whether it's his favourite song or his Jehovah's witness suit etc. It makes this album not enjoyable for me. Also the whole time I kept thinking why is she still chasing after the 'bad boy' at 35. It reads like a 19 year old who's in love for the first time. Another issue is there's not much poetry in an album called TTPD. The lyrics are just too on the nose. As opposed to 'Getaway Car' or 'Your Losing Me' which have great metaphors. These are my favourite lyrics from the TTPD album because I love the metaphor: So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream "Who's afraid of little old me?" You should be
The problem is that those who criticise Taylor Swift pick a few of her songs while not acknowledging the many brilliant ones. It is easy to criticise something you do not understand than it is to learn to understand it. It is a reaction parallel to "fear of the unknown". Once the unknown is known the fear diminishes.
I'm a Swiftie too, but I'm not too into her to the point I couldn't take criticisms. Taylor is human. She has flaws and she makes mistakes like the rest of us because she's not perfect. But yeah, her obsessed fans are creepy.
@@Dropletsojoysame problem girle (sorry if your a guy) I love Taylor Swift and her songs but this album is a full on diss track which sounds soo boring for me folklore will always be taylors peak wheather it came to lyricism or vocal
She’s been writing too many songs and releasing and rereleasing too many albums within only 4 years! A lot of them feel rushed garbage because you can tell she’s trying to milk her fans as much as possible before she retires.
06:30 This is exactly how I feel about her! She still suffers from the " high school unpopular kid" syndrome and would "fall in love" with any popular man who looks at her.
@@jiruld I did. I even know some songs by heart. And I appreciate how mature she was as a teenager. Sad that she did not grow up a lot as an artist. TTPD is her worst album. Laziness at its best.
@@Fouloulle no, it's her one of the most confessional and matured lyrically. Just because she sings about her personal life doesn't mean she's not grow up as an artist and ttpd is not about her love life, it's about HER LIFE. TTPD talks about her heartbreak from her past relationships, her career, her frustrations to her fans and to her self. I respect your opinion and I get it it's not her best album but you're so wrong on so many ways when you could've said you don't like the album. This album is not for everyone.
@@jiruld Goodness, I listened to it, I know it's her life, still it's VERY immature ! Her life is one of a 30 something years old, it doesn't sound like it ! Songs like "All too well" has mature lyrics even now, even though she wrote it when she was young! "Our song", "White horse", are cute songs but very well written especially that she did them when she was VERY young! The new ones are just a collection of stupid metaphors that over all sound very dull and stupid! I d'ont want to read her diary where she cries over every single man she met and thought she was gonna marry ! It's stupid, non creative, dull... so yeah I guess it's not for everybody if you want to, I still find it immature. I'm a 30 plus woman. I can't listen to champagne problems (the song is cool though)
@@Fouloulle goodness whahaha you completely miss the whole point of the album, why you keep comparing it to her previous works, immature really? If you don't like the album then don't listen. You know you can keep your irrelevant opinion and it's not your concern anymore if she sings about her love life and I just want to reiterate that ttpd is not about solely her past relationships for god sake, it's an anthology of her life.
It’s actually crazy when you consider that Taylor released this album at the same age Lana was when she released nfr. Lana writing and singing so beautifully about the human condition, the nuance of people and their relationships, the changing tides of society and culture, and the radical power of empathy. Whereas Taylor is sad cause her racist/misogynistic situationship broke up with her. Her work just isn’t very interesting, there’s a reason folk/more were so good and I think because she allowed herself to be more abstract and fictional. She should do more of that in future, but I know it drives the parasocial dynamic less if she’s not dropping tea and tidbits about her very public relationships
I liked your comment and I absolutely agree that Lana's songwriting is just on a whole other level compared to most pop musicians of today. However, I do have to come to Taylor's defense a bit because not writing about the "human condition" is not a fault. She's an artist, she has to stay true to what she wants to write about. We can talk about how as a billionaire and someone who apparently yields so much power, she has a responsibility, but that's a different conversation. The great thing about art is that it is versatile, and it gives you the freedom and the ability to express YOURself. As an artist, she's allowed to express what is on her mind and her mind only. I appreciate the fact that the art world allows artists to have this kind of diversity. I think there's a reason that so many girls and women still like her music and relate to her (and it's not because they have bad taste or they are immature).
@@amelie_1288 sure of course artists can talk about whatever they want. It’s just that what she chooses to write about is immature and jejune, but her fans and many industry people like to pretend otherwise. It definitely appeals to a specific demographic which works for her, but outside of her echo chamber falls very flat, which is fine if her fans and some music “critics” didn’t praise her and call her the best songwriter of the century which is simply not true. Her fans are often immature, literally, cause they’re mostly adolescents, and everyone has immature tastes at that age. Still though, I recognize everyone is allowed to like what they like.
@@Strange9952 I listen to tons of music from different genres and time periods. Lana is absolutely on another level from most other musicians, and especially Taylor Swift. But thanks for your useless comment. Looking through your playlist, I think you need to listen to more music
@@warrenmacdonald3463 the whole 'greatest living songwriter' thing stems from folk/more, and specifically from Aaron Dessner - her writing on the songs with him (and Joe, tbqh) is not like anything she had done before, or since. He obviously really pushes her to do better than the first-draft lyrics that Jack seems to accept, and it's very telling that after those two critically acclaimed albums, that garnered her that highest of accolades, she went straight back to her usual schtick on Midnights with absolutely woeful writing on songs like Karma, Bejeweled, Vigilante Shit And re folk/more being different partly due to her exploring more fictional writing, I think people have re-examined in light of the breakup and the 10 years of Matty situationship and found them to be a lot more autobiographical than we knew at the time
An ex Swiftie here, loved the video babe. I have been a swiftie since 2011 and that slowly came to a screeching halt recently. Our Taylor, I believe is a manipulator as in SHE IS ALWAYS AND ALWAYS THE VICTIM IN EVERY SITUATION. She can't just move on. She has to send her swiftie mob via her songs to dox and harass people who've wronged her. Suing a kid for tracking her flight pattern was so low and dragging Kim's kid now to get a reaction out of her is downright evil and so very feminist of her and brand of women supporting other women. How would she have felt if her child was dragged in for a f*cking drama that happened a decade ago, like move on, get a life. When something affects her directly then she will chew them down send her mob dogs their way then why oh why in Miss Americana she said she'll be more vocal and what not and be on the right side of history, where is that spirit when its the case of g*nocide in gaza? Our queen Taylor is a selective activist and a f*cking hypocrite. She's vindictive and calculative as in the song Mastermind. She's a businesswoman first and artist second like was ripping Olivia Rodrigo that necessary where Cruel Summer(one of my favs) doesn't even sound like Deja Vu(another of my favs) like you want to copyright yelling in songs? Then touring with Sabrina Carpenter(whom Olivia had beef with but I love Sabrina nonetheless) and Paramore (who didn't even wanted to take revenue of Good for You from Olivia) I always wondered why Taylor was friends with Selena Gomez who is also ALWAYS A VICTIM and can't move on from Justin and sends her seleanators Hailey's way to harass her five years after Hailey and Justin got married like beech act your age, you are so problematic always bringing up Justin and Selena drama to sell your songs where Justin can sell Yummy🤷🏻♀️ and no drama is required. I have been fed the Taylor drama and Selena drama all my life and I want to move on. I will keep listening to my favs from both of these artists for the sense of nostalgia but that's it I've enough of their punching other people down.
When TTPD came out it really was the nail in the coffin of my swiftie days. She finally showed all of her colors so belligerently. I used to dismiss all her immature behaviour thinking she'd grow out of it one day. I find that a lot of the angry responses seem to be old swifties as well.
@@Lime1958 agreed I've been a swiftie for only 2 years and I just turned 16 but her writing about Joe's depression was the nail in the coffin for me... it's disgusting behaviour I can't excuse
Let’s be honest. As a massive swiftie, nothing u said here is a lie. She is a big time narcissist and she is self aware about it and she accepts her vices when she acts on them. Yea she is addicted to the fame , and the idea of an unbreakable legacy. She will keep doing these greedy selfish things and her music is mid and was actually better than good only on folklore and evermore. But her persona is entertaining and we are hooked on the drama. Same reason people watch the kardashians lol the irony. That’s why taylor keeps spewing more and more drama. Ttpd was her most transparent act of desperation. And please don’t bring the “she’s a marketing genius you are hating because she is a woman” please, marketing genius, she is. And she is also a hypocrite and greedy and unnecessarily spiteful. And gosh i know that she knows it too.
I know this message comes very late, but I'm genuinely curious : how come you consider yourself a swiftie and at the same time calls her music mid? criticizing her character i can get, but not liking her music i just cant wrap my head around. I also don't see how she 'keeps spewing more and more drama', on the contrary, it seems to me that's it's reducing in quantity since she appears/does less things in public than before.
@@timeopolimene just because you like something it still can be mid and the person made it can be suck. But it vibe with you and you like itthat all it matter
@@CookieTaigaI really don't understand. To me, when you call a music "mid", you don't really like it and won't go out of your way to listen to it, which automatically means you're not a fan of said music. Simple as that. But english isn't my first language, so maybe it means something different from what I expect it to?
Taylor: profits off of making songs she knows people know are about specific people, some resulting in death threats, doxxing and harassment. Some contain details about THEIR personal lives and character, some bordering on defamation. Deliberately cultivates a culture of speculation about IRL events for marketing and fanbase purposes. Makes most of her relationships, like Travis Kelce, very public. Weaponizes lyrics against people she thinks wronged her. Taylor when asked to answer for dating the problematic Matty Healy and turning a blind eye to his blatant disturbing behaviour: "You aren't allowed to speculate about my personal life, that's creepy and judgemental!" But I agree, it feels less like vulnerability and more like oversharing. By now she KNOWS her fanbase sends threats to the people in her songs, but continues to pump out said songs without even telling her fans to cool the bad behaviour. Feels like weaponization. She's fanning the flames. I try to believe victimized women about their struggles, but she's the victim in EVERY circumstance. "I can't date a racist, it's not fair!" is almost as rich as she is.
let the woman overshare lol how does that affect u? also, shes not responsible for her fan's behavior, she never told the swifties to send death treaths to anyone
taylor swift has the same amount of contol over her fans as any other artist. maybe even less because there is so many. she is not responsible for what her fans say, its not like shes explicitly telling people to come after the people that have hurt her, infact she does quite the oppisite. she is a SONGWRITER. she is going to write about things that have hurt her. and things that have not. i also write my own songs and for many people including taylor, it is a form of therapy and a way to process emotions. it is not up to her how people revice these songs and it never will be. yes dating matty healy was not the smartesrt but often love is not simple. she is out of that relationship now and every body makes mistakes.
ironic criticizing Taylor because you thought she manipulated her fans to harass people (she did not) when you also say bad things about her even though you do not know her personally
@@kabaliwannipsalm8503um she did lol she knows damn well what happens if she writes a song about someone and as she said all she cares about is karma it's her way of taking revenge on people who hurted her it's her giving them their karma (I don't hate Taylor infact I'm a huge swiftie but this is a fact and there's nothing wrong with her doing it considering they hurted her )
Fearless until Reputation + folklore and evermore will probably always be her best. I don’t think she can make better and more authentic albums at this stage of her life and success. Her time is coming to an end sooner than we anticipated.
The fact that people compare TTPD to Folklore saying that it could be better is astonishing. Folklore is a mature album where she exhibits storytelling while exploring a new sound. TTPD doesn't have that range that Folkore did IMO.
I barely listen o any album that you didn’t name, lovers ass, midnights is fake, ttpd is wayyyy to much and some songs are simply low quality and un edited
But worth a billionaire girl go sit in a corner somewhere she sells out stadiums whereever she performs she doesn't need to be anybody other than who she is TAYLOR SWIFT who are you?? Nobody that matters to her
I made this comment earlier to answer someone elses comment, but I still with to post it here too with few additions: I've been a swiftie for several years, and your comment nails my current feelings about her. I am only a few years younger than her, and back in 2010s I could relate to her writing songs about being a young woman with heart on her sleeve and passion for music, about dealing with older men in a cruel world etc. I was 22 when 22 came out, it was THE anthem for us! But back then, she also was not the most famous person in the world, she was a teenager under pressure and massive media scrutiny. Taylor in 2020s is adult, Time's person of the year with a billionaire status and massive influence to get millions of people behind her. Writing songs does not come from a place of being an underdog anymore and getting back at people who manipulated and abused you: it comes from a place of privilege. With that level of influence and power, you do gain responsibility. If you punch below, to people with no access to similar power, it's straight up bullying. In Miss Americana, the Netflix documentary about her, she says that she "tries to be as educated as possible on how to respect people", so she does have some level of awareness what is respectful and humane towards others, and what is right thing to do with her power. But does it extend towards her relationships, friends and exes, and other musicians in the industry? I remember when Folklore came out and it felt like a completion, that I had grown up with her. Especially the line in Invisible String: "Cold was the steel of my axe to grind for the boys who broke my heart / Now I send their babies presents". A part in me feels very betrayed by TTPD, almost like she decided to throw all the years of growth down the drain. If karma is real, why does she seem to have such a justified take on things? It's like she wants to give lessons and karma to people now. Why is it always a tit-for-tat with her? Another aspect of this is the whole Kimye-drama. Those two absolutely deserved to put on their places for manipulating an illegally recorded phone call, but since Taylor was proven innocent (rightfully so!) it has created this space, where everything she says and does is done from a place of absolute sincerity. We never hear of the perspectives of the other people involved in the songs, and if the other people do dare to comment their perspective, there will be an army of Swifties shutting them down. Only few weeks ago Joe Alwyn gave reluctantly about two phrases about HIS experience with people who are trying to pry on their break-up, saying essentially nothing about Taylor herself. And yet, an army of toxic fans is still doing nothing less than attacking Joe with vicious threats and cyberbullying. Even fake AI-videos have been edited of him saying horrible things, in order to frame him a bigot. It's simply not possible for her to not realize how everything she does contribues to speculations and perspectives about people other than her. Swifties also have a tendency to defend Taylor by saying "the men/friends/others knew what they were getting into". This does not give a free pass to turn the private lives of your closest people to money machines! It almost gives me a feeling how we women are treated when trying to leave emotionally abusive or neglectful spouses: "you should have known what kind of person he was when you started dating" etc. Stating this also indicates that Taylor will keep doing this, so no-one should date her, because if she uses her power to turn agains you despite promising other, you deserve it. Who deserves to be subjected for online abuse and lifelong shadow in their back, just because they perhaps... you know, fell in love and cared for her? And no, doing all of this would be just as dubious if she was a man. But her being a woman does not give her a free pass to act like all the abusive and arrogant men in the industry. The solution for this would be to keep the male artists accountable for their actions. This came out way longer than I intended to write, so kudos if you made it this far. I don't know what to think about anything anymore. I just feel intense disappointment.
i think it's very telling when you're praised for your songwriting abilities throughout your whole career and your whole brand is about you writing songs about your personal life and dating drama, however the finest written albums of yours (and generally most loved and most well rated) are those which are all about fictional stories and made up characters. and now, your most diaristic album to date is your worst overall by the same public opinion.
As a swiftie who constantly looks for her easter eggs in her releases, observing her interviews, reading news articles, and watching critical analysis (from different sources) about her as a person, my interpretation of her is that her identity completely revolves around her business, to her image, and she is completely dedicated to it, like she will do everything for it (she even stated this in her song Mirrorball, willing to try everything). I can relate to almost all of her songs, such as The Great War (projecting your wounds towards someone you love), Afterglow (realizing you are being toxic unknowingly towards someone you love), Dear John (when someone manipulated you), etc. Her lyricism drew an exact parallel to what I felt during my brightest and darkest times (but her darker songs seem more genuine, while her poppy songs seem more curated). My observation is that she becomes more and more complex as she grows older; it is like the different versions of her are starting to pile up and weave onto each other. (My theory here is that she is holding grudges from the past; technically, she is still carrying them.) My problem with her lies in her lack of accountability for how she contributed to the toxicity of the relationship, and in some of her songs, some people find it juvenile because of how it is emphasized on blaming the other person. She is able to narrate how she is able to justify many of her misbehaviors, but when it comes to exploring the side of the other person, there is always a negative connotation as to why the other person seems unable to work on themselves. I'd say her side didn't convince me when Taylor Swift herself couldn't work on her anxious attachment style. (that spans for years and years in many of her relationships.) My theory is that some swifties may stand up for her, and the reason may be that they are still unable to grow up from the emotional immaturity that they have. (I've noticed that in my Facebook friends and old friends, the reason they listen to Taylor Swift is because they themselves are experiencing toxic relationship dynamics with their boyfriends, but they themselves have unhealthy traits like revolving their lives around other people's lives, yearning for love or validation, and are still emotionally immature.) There are also people who listen to her because of her heartbreak songs (like I also did, but I'm able to move past it, and now I can't resonate with her anymore). After healing, my life has become more peaceful, but Taylor Swift didn't seem to heal yet. I'll be honest and say that I've been in her place and justified my toxic behaviors many times because I'm still wounded from my old experiences (like, I'm thinking I deserve to get resentful people as life has been unfair to me). Those times are when I can relate the most to Taylor Swift, weirdly enough. It is like letting our emotions get ahead of us and being willing to spar with the person who has "harmed" us rather than choosing to be a bigger person, approach it in a mature way, or learn to move on. But Taylor Swift seems to keep revisiting the past again and again (even in her current TTPD album, bringing up old shit). People (or other swifties) may counter me with, "Well, can't you see how self-aware she is in her songs?" Yes, you can be self-aware but at the same time not do the inner work to change your patterns of behavior for the next relationships, because I also did that. I'm aware that some of my actions hurt people, but with the victim mentality I had (unable to see that I'm in control of my life and people are only used to teach something about ourselves to change it), I still did the harm as I felt entitled to do so. Until now, she still elicits behaviors of an anxious attachment style in a person, like trying to change herself for the apple of her eye (which is unhealthy), overgiving herself, and expecting that approach will make the person love her back. She will keep attracting unhealthy relationship dynamics if she doesn't work on herself and stops thinking about love bombing the other person that she thought will improve the dynamics. This take reference from her songs based on her real-life experiences: "I sit and watch you; I notice everything you do or don't do" from Tolerate It (in her relationship with Joe Alwyn); "I don't have to pretend I like acid rock or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht" from Now That We Don't Talk (in her relationship with Harry Styles); "Don't blame me; love made me crazy if it doesn't; you ain't doin' it right" from Don't Blame Me (in her relationship with Joe Alwyn) It is important to consider that healthy relationship dynamics don't have highs and lows (it was actually consistent because there is mutual respect, trust, honor, love, and transparency from both parties). I also don't understand why people aren't conversing enough about the meaning behind her songs like "Maroon," "High Infidelity," and "Vigilante Shit," and how she is also guilty of doing harm to others. Lyrics such as “And I chose you the one I was dancing' with in New York” from Maroon (in her relationship with Tom Hiddleston), “Put on your records and regret me, I bent the truth too far tonight” from High Infidelity (in her relationship with Tom Hiddleston), “She needed cold hard proof, so I gave her some” from Vigilante Shit (in an attempt to get revenge on Kanye West) She is partaking in activities such as emotional cheating, stringing people along, taking things too personally, and having a vindictive attitude. But most fans are still delusional about it. She seems to justify this behavior with her “victim-mentality” attitude, and she can get away with it because people are already attached to her (with the relatability they feel with her songs) and her justifications for why she is doing what she does. (Because people have hurt me before, it is fine that I also fight with them.) She chose to do this rather than work on her healing and maturity. I did have hopes during her time with Joe Alwyn as her lyrics reflect growth and lessons: "That what matters most in life is the people who support and love you in your darkest times” based on her Miss Americana documentary. However, the script was flipped again after the downfall of their relationships after six years, like she changes to a different person overnight to work on her new persona (realigning her identity as close as the person she is attracted to; she did it before many times). She is so inconsistent. I'm not saying she is an evil person; I'm saying she doesn't seem to grow up like a normal 34-year-old does. She is stuck with a high school mentality, trying to look as mature or wise as possible. It is like she grasps the concept of what she is supposed to be based on her lyrics, but she's unable to apply it to herself. She is not only inconsistent with her relationships but also with what she stands for, like during her Lover Era, when she was very vocal about gay rights, politics, empowerment, and misogyny (I appreciate what she was speaking up for, but it didn't seem genuine anymore after that because she is now silent about those things, maybe because it doesn't serve her anymore and she dated a racist man called Matty Healy; wouldn't that guy clash with your beliefs?) I still have a lot to say, but these are the issues I had with Taylor Swift. I know that what she is advocating about and her standing up for herself are great, but it comes across to me that these are used for the sake of saving her image (not for genuine intentions). The reason I think her identity as a person revolves around her brand rather than, as you know, identifying Taylor Swift and whether she falls into the spectrum of good or bad is because there are a lot of factors that play into why she is the way she is now. I think that there is an attempt to be completely genuine towards her fans, but with how sensitive people are towards the image of celebrities, she is also forced to consider this when it comes to her decision-making and taking action. She is a businesswoman after all, so her approach to dealing with things is strategic based on what needs the most during those times. This is just my take and I'm still open to listen to different perspectives. Feel free to comment below your thoughts!
This was a very insightful take. I think that she is someone who does not really know what she stands for. She has a lot of insecurities that she is compensating for by people pleasing and seeking external gratification. Also, I suspect her mental health is not the best, if you know somethings about narcissism and borderline personality disorder, her behaviour shows many signs. Lastly, I think that she has been denied the chance to grow up as a person by her enablers who made her bow to the demands of the industry and it has stunted her growth.
I remember reading a comment stating that she got famous when she was a teenager, so she’s still in that mentality. It was really interesting to me! Also your take put into words exactly how I feel.
"My observation is that she becomes more and more complex as she grows older" - my observation is that she becomes more and more simple. If in her youth people had this "what will she come up with next" expectation and even admiration of this girl being so accomplished for her age (she really wasn't but that's another topic) then now it's "same old same old poor me wronged by bad men stuff from Swift" - even from many of her fans. And nobody expects things to improve, that's the main thing really. Time is like that, it simply peels off this veneer of expectation and people are rapidly starting to be seen as they really are. TS is the prime example - and it's not a pretty sight.
The thing is even Daniel nigro himself would never work with her because of what she did to Olivia Rodrigo and not just because Olivia Rodrigo is his colleague it's also because he himself also got cheated off of the credits because he ALSO helped write the song so he ALSO lost money why earth would he work with her after that! (She burnt that bridge that's for sure!)💀

Imo Sour is a phenomenal album about heartbreak, growing up, transitions. It has some edge but also introspection. TTPD is just cringe. Someone said compare Lemonade which Beyoncé released when she was around the same age as Taylor Swift is now. Lemonade is mature, creative, daring. TTPD is navel gazing and immature.
1. I hate to agree with Candace Owens out of all people but there Taylor DEFINITELY absorbs her respective boyfriends personalities as her own. The fact that her most recent one is the high school quarterback boyfriend she never got to be with is very interesting (Plus the seemingly mature Joe Alwyn coming in at a turbulent time in her life, and Matty Healy being the high school Bad boy She would not have gotten with in high school ) P.S I do not agree with how candace just bashes at her and women in general. 2. There is this theory that says celebs get forever stuck at the age they got famous. That and her not getting over high school make a deadly combination. Add on the fact that she gained an innocent reputation for being the girl next door ad for winning the fight with KimYe and it gets worse. 3. I think it was Imogen Heap that once said she came up with an interesting beat for taylor but taylor deemed too experimental. Which definetly sheds lights on her proprites as an artists (Image over art). This point is explained in Honest's video ' Taylor Swift is becoming the Marvel of the music industry'. at around 13 minutes to be specific
I guess she's trying to steal Olivia's fanbase, that's why she wrote those unhinged lyrics so she can be more relateable to teenager. If you listen to it closely, you'll see. In the who's afraid of little old me, she's calling out Olivia in lyric "the who's who, and who's that, is the poised for attack" is bringing us back to the issue about who's vampire in Olivia's song. And that's why the song has creepy vibes. You can say I'm gonna get you back is clearly is a calling out of Olivia's get him back. And the thank you aimee has same vibes with Olivia's the grudge. She definitely has some insecurity and it appears. I bet her next album is about loveydovey where she preach about love and kindness. You can tell I'm her hardcore fan, so don't come at me ya'll. It's just my 2cents.
Its hilarious how the culty swifties are “bitching and moaning” in ur comment section. Ur review is legit its only the r/im14thisisdeep kids who LOVE this album. This was a huge downgrade for Taylor and i say this as a swiftie
That's your opinion everybody don't think like you her album is awesome and if you dont like it that's cool but dont try to critique it for everyone else just do you...
Sorry you feel that way, but there is something called an "opinion", and not everyone has the same one. So if you feel like it's a downgrade for her, that's fine. But don't go commenting at other people telling them they're wrong for liking this album, acting like what you say is the only correct answer.
I haven’t watched the video, but as a swiftie I agree. I bought the damn limited edition CD just for the bonus track (sometimes she releases the bonus track once and never again), and then she released the anthology with those bonus track??? Seriously Taylor?
@@lexis4490nah bro all swifties assumed it will be good I did too the marketing and or was so huge Spotify set up a whole workshop thing with Easter eggs so much marketing was done it was during her peak fame that is rn when she is literally the most famous artist in the world it was all over social media ofcourse everyone was excited even I was jumping and screaming but the album was disappointing tho
@@MoMo-rx4zri am a fan and have never bought anything and Taylor capitalising on her music can't be as bad as other celebrities making makeup brand. Wtf do they know about makeup? Are they making formulas? Capitalising on there fans by selling shit makeup! No one says a word there
@@lexis4490 exactly. Huge swiftie here. The only album i have by Taylor is lover (not because it's my favourite but i still like it, i just found it in a shop and i bought it), mostly because i wanted to have one of her albums. No one forced me to buy anything from her merch. I honestly think that these variations are for collectors istead of just people who want to have one album. That's why i won't spent money on that. I'm not collecting and i don't have space for that either.
Lets not forget what she did with katy ... also Olivia. Also why doesn't she make an album her cheating on her boyfriends or her being problematic. Her being silent when swifties were harassing bullying joe says alot about her character. So called feminist.
She’s no poet man. She’s an 2002 emo kid, shut up in their room, and growing more and more obsessed with whatever death metal rocker they’re listening to. 😂😂😂😂 no offense to millennials who were emo kids at that time.
These American female pop stars often say that they don't need men yet they depend entirely on men for short term romance write a song about it and earn millions from it. That's what their identity is.
I like Taylor Swift in the same way many men like the NFL, it's fluff entertainment I try to not look too closely at. So therefore, while I'm a fan, I welcome critique, because the more people at the party, the more fun! I think any group that takes a stance of 'just because I like it, it can't be critiqued' are the true villains.
Taylor fans are overly defensive, a part of me understands because she does get a lot a unnecessary hate, but as a new fan of hers I think we really need to chill
As someone who's been a mega swiftie since 2008, this album is a bit of a disgrace to her discography lol. So self-important and artistically arrogant and for what? You can't call yourself a tortured poet and then write some of the atrocities than have been written on this one. I think the title track unfortunately foreshadows the quality of the entire album. I don't hate all of it, but I do believe that the lyricism is incredibly inconsistent and the production is consistently lame. And I hate to say this as a fan, but I feel like part of the reason it turned out like this is that, for the first time, it's sort of gotten to her head? Her improvement always came as a reaction to criticism, racking her brain to try and prove a point. After the craze of the last couple of years, though, I feel like she's subconsciously (?) adopted a bit of a Midas complex, and so she believes that everything she writes is good just bc she wrote it. And that's honestly valid if all everyone ever does is praise you, even when you make things that should've stayed in the drafts. I'm not worried about the bigger picture because I know even great artists/writers have their periods of creative decline and then all of a sudden bounce back some years later. But I will say that, for the first time ever, I think she might need some humbling
The fit she threw at Scooter over purchasing her music rights that she had every opportunity to buy herself but instead chose to lie and act like she knew nothing about it being sold but was upset about who it was sold to was all it took for me .... and then to turn around and get your legal team to go after someone's work because you were their inspiration she's a snake 🐍 🐍🐍🐍
1:51 THANKS that’s exactly how this album makes me feel. That’s why i don’t like it so much. Is like literally about her, the fun thing about music to me is to get my own interpretation or find it relatable. But this album is not relatable unless you are Taylor Swift. I find it very disappointing. The tracks that seem to be more ambiguous are the ones i actually liked.
''Can we just make interesting music Taylor?''. As far as I'm concerned, Taylor's music peaked in Folklore, if you look at the credits of the album... If the main artist is only credited on lead vocals as an instrument, and doesn't even play the basics of acoustic guitar, and most of the work is done by producers like Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff, it already says way too much about the 'artist', I'm quite confident to say no, she can't really make interesting music, she's clearly another product that was taken too seriously, and I don't even begin to know why, if you need your basic white relatable girl, there are so many more artists that can do that a million times better I just can't understand how she's literally the biggest on this planet, her last two albums are straight bad.
I really love this video and I appreciate your willingness to call these things out! I love Taylor, but as fans we should be allowed to criticize her. I just posted a video talking about similar topics to yours and I faced sooo much backlash from Swifties. I didn't even hate the album! I actually think the Anthology side is much better than the main album. The marketing around this sub-par album is just kind of icky to me though with selling four different versions of the vinyl and the lack luster merch. Great job on this video though, you deserve more subs!
@@lexis4490 yes just like people or swifties are passionate to support her, its their choice. You can also be obsessed or passionate for other artist if you want too
I LOVE honest Swifties like you. Thank you for not giving her blind praise for everything she does! It's counterproductive and will not result in the good music we want from her.
im too much of a swiftie to non-swifties, and not swiftie enough for the swifties. as much as i like taylors personality and aesthetics and everything, we should accept the fact that shes not really a girls girl. if she supports an artist in any shape or form is because she believes they're not a threat to her success. a lot of swifties think she gives them exposure because she genuinely wants them to succeed, but that's not it, she just wants it to look like she wants them to succeed to fulfill an agenda. despite that, shes done amazing things for other people and charities and what not, but she's not an angel on earth at all
Honestly she could have made this album really good if she cut some songs and some lyrics and changed a few things, but she just didn't filter the stuff from her notes app. The album was meant to be like something a teenager would write in the notes app, thinking she's a tortured poet (probably cuz it resonate with the young fans). But i'm not sure that was the best idea for a 34 year old, who can write shit like folklore and evermore. This was more for the sales and streams from the die hard swifties than actual good art and it's a shame because there are a lot of good lines in the album, it's just scattered.
Who cares about all the judgements everyone seems to have, the most important thing is that people relate to her songs and have fun. And the lore is amazing. Lyrics may be personal, but are universal too
A channel that discusses pop culture with class consciousness and an interaectional lense??? Let's go!! I'm subscribing right away! Much love from Latin America!
She´s literally creating polemics with this album on purpose. It is not normal that her lyrics are so bad LMAO. Then she will use that polemics to promote Reputation (Taylor´s Version). I mean it´s so obvious bc of the way she´s been behaving these days on her instastories showing the reviews of the album and making fun of those critics that had given bad reviews to the album. She had never behaved that way she released Reputation was launched in 2015
It’s very repetitive and self indulgent clap trap and in a 31 track format.. if Its bad stick to 12 tracks . Totally agree the brand and cash are king . It’s a corporation making music and it sounds factory produced totally dead on every level
I agree with some of the critiques, others I think it's just a superficial read of some of the songs... All the album critiques online compiled in a video
All good about your critique about the album but...can we please STOP saying that Karlie Kloss was Taylor's gf?! Speculating about someone's sexuality is truly f'd up, invasive and disgusting. She's said MULTIPLE times that she's straight. It's 2024 people, do better.
to be fair I think she was commenting on the fact that people speculated they were in a relationship? Not that she believed it, I think it was just an observation/reporting but even though I truly do not like taylor speculating on someone's sexuality is not ok.
I mean, like what else could anyone think she was? Her ambition was always to use music as a vehicle for fame and wealth. She’s not the typical musician who puts the music first and fame and riches an afterthought. She targeted country music because it was the swiftest growing genre. She got her family to move from Pennsylvania to Nashville, because that’s where country music stars are born. She faked a Southern Accent even though she’s a Northerner, to seem legit. And she praised and worked with bigger stars like Toby Keith and John Mayer, only to ditch them and/or trash them, in her quest to gain clout and material. Then she went pop and dropped the accent. It’s no mystery who and what she is. A clever lyricist, a narcissistic chameleon, who writes often emotionally stunted songs fueled by fake drama for teens. As for writing for White fans? A musician should never write for any fan, they ought to write for themselves-Taylor rarely does, although her personality seeps through nonetheless.
Once in a while, i try to give taylor a listen. It's super difficult for me to consume her music, especially when the praises she gets seem overboard. But i always had a feeling of Taylor self mythologizing herself. She wants to be remembered and stay in everyone's head. It's what really rubs me the wrong way about her.
Taylors got a lot of something...but it's exhausting lol....is she sweet, petty, popular, geeky, gay, straight, happy, angry? I don't know...I hope she finds a direction....maybe if she finds her real person and settles down we will see more maturity. Her music is like a soap opera mixed with the Wrestling( take note of some of her costumes on stage)...she even has a football player who acts like a character in her script.
Taylor swift: the tortured billionaire who was born into a wealthy family. Let’s all cry that Jake gyllenhal and John Mayer were perfectly nice boyfriends. As long as she can capitalize off it and shout f the patriarchy (with a hollowness)… it’s all men’s fault… except the tattooed golden retriever… I bet he dumped her. Good boy
I lost respect for Taylor when she used the word selling her master recordings without her "consent" as if she had been a victim of sexual assault by Big Machine. Like please. It was a business deal... Braun did nothing wrong. This only shows she doesn't understand the business side of the music industry, which is insane. She should know that words matter. "Consent"? It was a legal business deal. But she weaponized her fan army (like she always does), and I simply didn't want to be manipulated by her antics any longer.
She also used the same language of abuse "dominate, stalk, harass" to silence the man who tweeted publicly available flight logs. She definitely frames all criticism or rejection as ab*se, and weaponizes feminism constantly. Its an insult to real victims and such a privileged mindset.
So, swiftie here, went to reputation stadium tour , been a fan since RED. I agree with most things said in this video. Even tho i consider TTPD a personal favorite, just bc she projects in her songs how raw and rough is the depression she is facing. And since im experiencing same feelings rn cause of mental illness , i have someone to relate to. Ofc, I also acknowledge that she is a millionaire . She does the “pointing a finger” shit that look so immature in my opinion. I think TTPD was meant to be a reuse of old sounds . She is touring right now and the theme of the tour is all her eras. It is clever of her to make an album that sounds like reputation, midnights and folklore , while touring and performing her whole catalogue of music. I do believe that the whole Kim Kardashian feud has been brought up too many times . She revives it every two years but I think she really was traumatized multiple times by her and her ex husband that she means it . She says “your words still ringing in my head” , i feel like she is being honest. I personally like TTPD. I wont go out of my way ofc to defend her to anyone . I dont need to defend any billionaire. Im just enjoying music. Maybe i have weird taste . But yeah pretty good video here
I disagree with the era's argument. If she's really trying to reuse her "era's" then she failed. Where's the Red era then? The 1989? The Speak Now? Fearless? Those are her most successful era's not Midnights or Folklore who were just released yesterday. I'm pretty sure y'all just want to find a reason to like this album. Even if the songs don't sound the same the writing is still trash.
Well, I agree with what you said about TTPD in the beginning. However I have to say that I don’t think she actually believes the relationship with Matty was ruined by fans; though it is completely ironic how she wants fans to care about her personal life and then gets annoyed when they comment on it. This interest in her love life has been encouraged by her and it has been happening for a long time. While I don’t think she needed to break up with “the love of her life” just because people on the internet thought he was problematic and toxic; she must have expected all of this to go down so her tantrum in “But Daddy I Love Him” sounds petty at best. I don’t think she lost her talent, but she definitely needs to take time to rest and introspect to finally realize that while she did get slammed by the public unnecessarily a few times; she is not the victim in her own story. In fact, because people are all ears to her story and in many ways hers alone - and not the opposite parties she blames so often - her story stands as the only truth and the only valid pov.
okay, Ive been reading Marvel comics for 35 years and I'm getting really sick of the weird marvel shots. Comics have always been something that we were made fun of for loving and then in the 2010's it became popular due to films. Now that everyone is tired of marvel films they take shots at them when taking shots at other people. 1. You do not need to watch every Mcu project to get the next, they make them so you do not have to do that. 2. Marvel comics have a history since 1960 and just because you have an issue with the MCU does not mean Marvel as a whole is a problem. Marvel is a COMIC BOOK company. please learn to separate marvel STUDIOS from Marvel comics. Its lazy.
I think the album can be digested without knowing the lore. I'm not american or from english speaking country. I like taylor's music (her storytelling more like). I didn't know who Matty Healy was before I listned to the album and I found who he is a month after listened to the album because the internet insisted on it, not the album. I don't look for relatablity when I consume movies or books or any entertainment. If they are relatable, cool. If they aren't, that's cool too. Just make me feel something. And this one did after a few listens. I usually go to wikipedia for information, there's no drama there.
Dunno much about her personal life or the lyrics of her new album songs. There were some I really liked (Fortnight, TTPD, But daddy I love him, who's afraid of little me, I can fix him) I'm here for some fun and to listen to music in any of her albums I find nice to hear. Same with Lana Del Ray, Charlie Puth, Olivia Rodrigo etc. In the end, to me, is about whether I find the song to my standards. Though it has occurred me more than once of her problematic behaviour, when it comes to calling out of writing about her exes in songs, and she's always like, "If you say that, you're a sexist!" girl I support equality with love but what are you actually doing with the songs.
this is a good video! even though i like the album as a long time fan, your criticisms are very valid. although i dont think "imgonnagetyouback" is a rip off of olivias song, since this album was in the works long before olivia released her album and its more of a reference to a 1975 song
I feel like it’s the same old thing and also I’m personally bored with her always writing about her relationships, because I understand write what you know, but push yourself to try something new. This album isn’t new. Honest did a great video essay referring to her as the marvel of pop and that’s what it is.
I'm not trying to defend Taylor because I feel like she's very immature, but honestly, I also wouldn’t get over how a guy made a nude wax figure of me and put it in his video saying that all my fame was due to him and how his wife edited the call where it seemed like I had accepted him saying that and how the entire internet went against me and almost ended my career.
If I was Taylor Swift, I also would definitely write an album with some of the cringiest most nonsensical lyrics ever because the fans will just eat up everything she does and are unable to form a single critical thought. I think she's realised that she doesn't have to try anymore, so she's stopped, and honestly I don't blame her for that. Who wouldn't do the same with a gullible parasocial fanbase? She could put out a terrible album, and not only would she remain a billionaire, but she'd just get even richer. And the fans will still buy 16 identical versions of the same album with slightly different cover art because they feel like they have to. I say this as someone who likes some of her music, it's not about the music anymore. And with her level of fame, that's hardly surprising. She's secretly trolling the Swifties, and I think she's a genius. It's fun (and kind of disturbing) to see just how far their loyalty will really go.
You know what's funny it's that I seen the same Tumblr post complaining about 1989 in 2014 saying it's not Taylor anymore RED or Fearless is way better in songwriting or she's always write about her personal life lol like GIRL she has been doing that since the her debut every freaking artists on the planet wrote about their personal life - Yall just don't like it because it's her first real breakup album since Red lol
I used to like t swift but now it's obvious to me she is truly a mastermind in the worst way she is turning art into a political capitalist weapon, the worst part is she has a lot of influence in the music industry so now everyone is trying to sell music instead of making it.. but I must mention I do not hate ttpd, so long London, how did it end, peter, the black dog, the prophecy and cassandra are good songs well at least good lyricism. As for the fact that they are super personal and shouldn't be out? Well yes but I'm not her so idc plus she literally sold her diaries so I wouldn't expect her to stop telling us the details of her life anytime soon lol.
As someone who has criticisms on Taylor Swift, this video is mostly garbage. Here is the summary of this mess of a video: 1. She stopped actually listening to Taylor’s albums after evermore. 2. She is defending a hypocrite who tracks Taylor herself and not just the jet she uses (see how he tracked Taylor’s friend’s jet just because Taylor was on it). 3. For someone who claimed to love (or has loved) Taylor’s music, she totally avoided the context of the 2nd verse of I Hate It Here to make Taylor sound tone-deaf (read the 4 following lines after the word "racists"). 4. She deliberately avoids making connections between the cheesy songs (The Alchemy & So High School) and songs about Taylor losing her innocence and teenage hood (read the lyrics to Would've, Could've, Should've for context). 5. She totally avoided the irrelevant criticisms this album received such as Taylor’s Jet usage which has nothing to do with the album really.
I think this album was meant to be raw, to get those emotions and angers out to make a final gasp of air before moving on to TS12, to get rid of the bad air and clear the room, to finally express her own feelings but what people don't get is just because she's a prolific songwriter doesn't always mean she should write like one, say So, High School and The Alchemy, she wanted to just have fun and not have too much meaning with those songs, such as some of her older work. Not every song should have a deep rich history that spans years (thanK you aIMee, So Long, London etc etc) but sometimes to just have fun with songwriting, I mean you let Lana Del Rey say her kitty tastes like pepsi cola and she was let off, but as soon as Taylor does it its criticised, pulled apart to the extreme and hated on for it. I think we all need to re-evaluate look at what TTPD is really showing us, a "Manuscript" as she marketed it as, a collection of stories, songs, poetry that is showing us lots of narratives, not for us to pick apart, for us to listen, take "I Hate It Here", a song about her not fitting in, not feeling like she belongs the line "I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists and getting married off for the highest bid" was taken so out of context, she says 4 lines later "Nostalgia is a minds trick", that nostalgia is the forcing function of our culture. Live under perpetual time pressure. Nostalgia is not really about the past, but the vanishing present. In no way was she writing it as being racist, in anyway if you listen to the lyrics. She was truly trying to show us the rawness her mind is. Also you mentioned about her suing Olivia and a College student, uhhhh the "college" student in question, who is also 21 years old, so a legal adult, has also been found out that he blackmailed Elon Musk for $40,000, for tracking his jet, also it was a "cease and desist" order, not suing, there a tad bit different.
I think artists really need a new angle and real creativity at this point. Shes becoming 🥱 boring. Her chord progressions are all the same. Every song is the same and not uplifting. I think she may be at the start of a downfall. Time for other artists to win.
I agree with almost everything, except with the whole Matty thing,I'm gonna have to side with TS on that one,she can date who she wants and not have a Mob come after her,Matty made a couple of jokes that were totally acceptable not that long ago,but ever since outrage culture blew up,now EVERYTHING is deemed racist and sexist,it's not up to fans to decide, especially if the definition of racism and sexism is redefined every couple of years(just look at any comedy from the 80's,90's or even 2000's),and let's say that you're right and that it turns out,he was in deed racist and sexist, well then let me just say, deal with it,that's how artists are, they are licenced to push some boundaries and dare to be edgier than average people, sadly that's not possible anymore, and that's probably why all modern artists are so bland.
yeah couple funny jokes involving creepy comments about race play fetishes and making it hard for gay people to have rights in Malaysia. funny haha im rotfl rn
@@exaggeratedswagger7485 Who the fuck are you to define what is or isn't edgy?if you think he crossed a line, than by default it makes it edgy, that's the whole point of it,saying stuff that people have no issue with, that's not edgy, that's common.
The guy is a huge red flag, its not a few jokes. The situationship abandoned her by taking a plane after telling her to move in togheter. It all happened publicly at the eras tour and its cringe bc That doesnt happen at 35, we all know better at that age. So, now there is footage about how she is not a victim here If she writes an entire album about the alwyn break up, well its different. We get it.
i get the swifties arent welcome here… as a big fan i just want to state three things: 1. she has been the subject of conspiracy theories for many years now and people using her name to make money… we see you 2. we dont mindlessly swallow anything she puts out, to say that is to group all of us under the name of a cult when maybe only a few of us act that way. she is not a perfect person by any stretch, but generally she has a kind heart and produces great music 3. i am so sick of people only attacking her when there are countless other celebrities that deserve more attention and are way more problematic. i get that she is seen as trendy and some people cant handle her success but just keep it to yourself okay… at the end of the day its the haters giving her more attention than us fans which is pretty pathetic. attack people that actually deserve the hate and stop caring so much its not that deep
without an ounce of criticism....except that the album contains some of her rawest and most emotional songs that her fans obviously enjoyed, funny cuz since she is overexposed it gave some people a bucket of reasons to attack her online despite TTPD still being lyrically better than A LOT of albums released this year
Yeah ONLY her fans enjoyed it, because too many of you are so obsessed and delusional that she can literally fart into a microphone, call it a song and you will still defend it and say it's peak art. The album is littered with cringy af lines like "you fell asleep like a tattooed golden retriever" and "touch me while your bros play gta" or whatever, and here you are really trying to gaslight us into thinking that's lyrical excellence lmaoo
I am 79 and English. I started listening to Taylor Swift this year.i coyld not give a flying fig about who she is singing about. Her songs are GOOD. ESPECIALLY the lyrics which I believe are almost completely her work. I don't understand rhe haters. I saw recently that someone said rhe songs on TTPDA are FAKE! How the hell can they be a fake? Are they not songs? Are they copies of other people's songs? How crazy is that? Now you are knocking her for making money. Nobody has to part with money to Taylor Swift. From what I hear she has spent a lot of her money helping others. Have you? Does she evade paying her taxes? Where is the evidence?
Taylor is a BILLIONAIRE. SHE SHOULD be helping others with her money. It’ll still never negatively affect her. I know your pic cannot be real bc why the HELL would a grown ass man be on the internet defending a billionaire bc someone has an opinion of them? You gotta be like a 12 YO kid. Bc there’s no fn way that a grown ass man would be acting like this on the internet. It’s Fn weird.
Born in 1944. I dislike all the jealous negativity whoever it is about. You lot have a third of your countrymen believing conspiracy theories and the Donald Trump is innocent. Where do you think this hatred and stupidity starts? Kids like aIMee love causing pain for the sake of it. You are entitled to dislike songs and singers but stop stating opinions as FACTS. From a Brit point of view it appears that too many Americans believe the FIRST thing they are told and are unable to change that opinion. That is not healthy and is effin lazy. If Donald Trump was wrongly attacked I would defend him. But he has not been so I won't. I do, however, sympathise with him over his incontinence problems. I have similar. It is an AGE thing and largely beyond his control. By the way, when you get to my age you will realise not just Trump and Biden nod off and forget words. I pointed out that Taylor helps people with her millions because that is a fact, not an opinion. She is not obliged to do that. Do you really think that a 79 year old cannot like Taylor Swift and her music? I also like artists from my early teens (Buddy Holly) and Twenties (ABBA) so that should give you some idea of my age and appreciation of GOOD music😊 Edit: why would a grown man make money on the internet by accusing someone of hypocrisy? You did not state that as an opinion.
@@cookiecrumbles007@cookiecrumbles007 I promise I am 79. I remember the Festival of Britain and outdoor lavatories at the end of the "yard" (tarmacced in UK)
I don't understand this critiscism. She is writing her own songs about what she is going through. Like all good artists should be doing? Or yall wanna go back idolizing people that are not involved in the creative process and just sing some shit they bought?
Although her new album isn't my favourite I really do think it's funny that people accuse Taylor of being a product more than artists that don't even wite their own music

I think this video is racist against strong powerful women! As a black man I have never seen such hatred for a marginalized person. My tears are flowing for Taylor Swift like the river of money she floats on in my dreams.
That's the thing about Taylor Swift that grinds my gears: she is incredibly cynical and is willing to step all over other people to get to where she wants and then plays dumb when people call her out.
Used to be a huge fan until 2+ years ago. She’s been getting faker and greedier by seconds!
Same!
I think she's always had a curated image that was very artificial. Her father is a billionaire stock broker who bought major stock in the major record label that signed her just weeks before it did. Her success has always been artificial, and she has always been a corporate product. People are waking up now, though.
@@CeeC_CeeCSame! For me it was the greed plus the really bad new albums
Oh how criticising her is equal to misogyny. She's in another level of delusion.
These are my favourite lyrics from the TTPD album because I love the metaphor:
So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street
Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream
"Who's afraid of little old me?"
You should be
The problem is that those who criticise Taylor Swift pick a few of her songs while not acknowledging the many brilliant ones.

@@Fouloulle no, it's her one of the most confessional and matured lyrically. Just because she sings about her personal life doesn't mean she's not grow up as an artist and ttpd is not about her love life, it's about HER LIFE. "Our song", "White horse", are cute songs but very well written especially that she did them when she was VERY young!

@@warrenmacdonald3463 the whole 'greatest living songwriter' thing stems from folk/more, and specifically from Aaron Dessner - her writing on the songs with him (and Joe, tbqh) is not like anything she had done before, or since. He obviously really pushes her to do better than the first-draft lyrics that Jack seems to accept, and it's very telling that after those two critically acclaimed albums, that garnered her that highest of accolades, she went straight back to her usual schtick on Midnights with absolutely woeful writing on songs like Karma, Bejeweled, Vigilante Shit
And re folk/more being different partly due to her exploring more fictional writing, I think people have re-examined in light of the breakup and the 10 years of Matty situationship and found them to be a lot more autobiographical than we knew at the time
An ex Swiftie here, loved the video babe.
Taylor when asked to answer for dating the problematic Matty Healy and turning a blind eye to his blatant disturbing behaviour: "You aren't allowed to speculate about my personal life, that's creepy and judgemental!"
But I agree, it feels less like vulnerability and more like oversharing.

I made this comment earlier to answer someone elses comment, but I still with to post it here too with few additions:
I've been a swiftie for several years, and your comment nails my current feelings about her.
I just feel intense disappointment.
thank you for saying that.
I wish fans like you would had more of a voice 😔 Thank you for sharing!!!
i think it's very telling when you're praised for your songwriting abilities throughout your whole career and your whole brand is about you writing songs about your personal life and dating drama, however the finest written albums of yours (and generally most loved and most well rated) are those which are all about fictional stories and made up characters.
and now, your most diaristic album to date is your worst overall by the same public opinion.
I really think she should start exploring fictional writing again, personal experiences run out at some point and becomes repetitive
It's required tremendous imagination and intense creative minds for writing fictional stories Articles or so gs ,which she lacks in some sorts.
(My theory here is that she is holding grudges from the past; technically, she is still carrying them.)
My problem with her lies in her lack of accountability for how she contributed to the toxicity of the relationship, and in some of her songs, some people find it juvenile because of how it is emphasized on blaming the other person.
(that spans for years and years in many of her relationships.)
My theory is that some swifties may stand up for her, and the reason may be that they are still unable to grow up from the emotional immaturity that they have. (I've noticed that in my Facebook friends and old friends, the reason they listen to Taylor Swift is because they themselves are experiencing toxic relationship dynamics with their boyfriends, but they themselves have unhealthy traits like revolving their lives around other people's lives, yearning for love or validation, and are still emotionally immature.)
There are also people who listen to her because of her heartbreak songs (like I also did, but I'm able to move past it, and now I can't resonate with her anymore).
This take reference from her songs based on her real-life experiences: "I sit and watch you; I notice everything you do or don't do" from Tolerate It (in her relationship with Joe Alwyn); "I don't have to pretend I like acid rock or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht" from Now That We Don't Talk (in her relationship with Harry Styles); "Don't blame me; love made me crazy if it doesn't; you ain't doin' it right" from Don't Blame Me (in her relationship with Joe Alwyn)
It is important to consider that healthy relationship dynamics don't have highs and lows (it was actually consistent because there is mutual respect, trust, honor, love, and transparency from both parties).
I also don't understand why people aren't conversing enough about the meaning behind her songs like "Maroon," "High Infidelity," and "Vigilante Shit," and how she is also guilty of doing harm to others.
Lyrics such as “And I chose you the one I was dancing' with in New York” from Maroon (in her relationship with Tom Hiddleston), “Put on your records and regret me, I bent the truth too far tonight” from High Infidelity (in her relationship with Tom Hiddleston), “She needed cold hard proof, so I gave her some” from Vigilante Shit (in an attempt to get revenge on Kanye West)
She is partaking in activities such as emotional cheating, stringing people along, taking things too personally, and having a vindictive attitude.
She is not only inconsistent with her relationships but also with what she stands for, like during her Lover Era, when she was very vocal about gay rights, politics, empowerment, and misogyny (I appreciate what she was speaking up for, but it didn't seem genuine anymore after that because she is now silent about those things, maybe because it doesn't serve her anymore and she dated a racist man called Matty Healy; wouldn't that guy clash with your beliefs?)
I still have a lot to say, but these are the issues I had with Taylor Swift.
Isn't tolerate it inspired by Rebecca the novel?
Wtf is this?? A whole essay!!
@@lolano3392 What did Taylor do to Olivia? You got me curious.
@alyssajones4368 Ts made Olivia credit her on her song "deja vu" after olivia cited her (amongst other female artists) as her inspiration behind it
@@savannah9256 😬

Yrars ago I read somewhere that TS has middle school problems, and it's still true today.
She's the master of playing the victim. Blaming everyone but herself
wdym she literally has a song that says it’s me hi i’m the problem it’s me she is pretty self aware imo
Example please :))
@@sirensvibes222The song is her crying about being the problem and not doing anything to fix it. She is trying to make you feel bad for her by complaining about how everyone hates “little old me.” (Like pack it up, Gideon Gleeful.) But it’s her that’s affecting other people and BEING the problem.
Is it weird Adele is just a year older, however Adele was more mature than now Taylor 10 years ago. She is almost like the female version of Justin beiber ,
Well justin bieber has been minding his own business and taking care of his family.. Depsite having a causing a lot of trouble when he was a teenager .. He really has been private as if he is trying to live his life and being as unproblematic as he can be and focus on his life and mental health
@@rouaboukhari well then even beiber has matured. Hopefully his music will too
Now we know about what he has been throught as a teen. Taylor didnt.
The Im14AndThisIsDeep Department wouldve been a much better title
That's your opinion everybody don't think like you her album is awesome and if you dont like it that's cool but dont try to critique it for everyone else just do you...
@@rubyfranklin9322 Dude even Beethoven was critiqued. It doesn't mean anything. Let people have opinions.
Sorry you feel that way, but there is something called an "opinion", and not everyone has the same one. So if you feel like it's a downgrade for her, that's fine. But don't go commenting at other people telling them they're wrong for liking this album, acting like what you say is the only correct answer.
it really funny lmmfao no cap
I haven’t watched the video, but as a swiftie I agree. I bought the damn limited edition CD just for the bonus track (sometimes she releases the bonus track once and never again), and then she released the anthology with those bonus track??? Seriously Taylor?
Why did you buy it? Did someone force you?

The hate is real....good thing she doesn't care...
But after that he went to an event and took a picture with kendall jenner and post it. So....its not like he didnt clapped back
She’s no poet man. She’s an 2002 emo kid, shut up in their room, and growing more and more obsessed with whatever death metal rocker they’re listening to. 😂😂😂😂
no offense to millennials who were emo kids at that time.
These American female pop stars often say that they don't need men yet they depend entirely on men for short term romance write a song about it and earn millions from it.
That's what their identity is.
She still writes lyrics like a 16 year old when she’s like 35 lmao compare that too Fiona apple who wrote criminal at 17 💀
I like Taylor Swift in the same way many men like the NFL, it's fluff entertainment I try to not look too closely at. So therefore, while I'm a fan, I welcome critique, because the more people at the party, the more fun! I think any group that takes a stance of 'just because I like it, it can't be critiqued' are the true villains.
Women like the NFL too
Taylor fans are overly defensive, a part of me understands because she does get a lot a unnecessary hate, but as a new fan of hers I think we really need to chill
SAME.
Immature 34.5 year old with a 15 year olds mindset. Mean girl mindset. Look at me mind set. I know everything mindset. Spoiled entitled mindset.
taylor swift switched from making projects to being a product
Vanilla is too exotic to describe her music, it’s like semi-skimmed milk
it's like the most blandest shit that only americans would guffaw over, McDonald's or something. Nothing substantial outside of their echo chamber
The scooter thing was a lie???? Tell me more, i wanna know that
I'm so tired of people's obsession with celebrities.
her creativity started fading away after midnights album
Last two albums- one a multi Grammy winner (including Album of the Year) the other on the Billboard charts for fourteen weeks.
Welcome to social media. You love something, you get hated on. You criticize something, you get hated on.
Who force you to buy it girl? 😂
People aren't handling your comment very well. Speaking of "bitching and moaning"
Lyrics may be personal, but are universal too
You've got giant lady balls for posting this, everything you said is 100% correct.

Hola Faia, mucho gusto! Estoy contenta de que te gusten mis videos.
I will always love Taylor, but it’s become obvious to me that I’m outgrowing her.
"Did 'Taylor Swift thebrand' consume the 'Taylor Swift the artist" is the best way to put it.
See this is the kind of analysis of Taylor Swift I've been searching for
She´s literally creating polemics with this album on purpose. She had never behaved that way she released Reputation was launched in 2015
TTPD is lyrically genius and you probably have 2 brain cells. Just because you dislike someone doesn’t mean they lack talent. Go touch grass.
That’s very cynical
Reputation was 2017.
THIS.
to be fair I think she was commenting on the fact that people speculated they were in a relationship? Not that she believed it, I think it was just an observation/reporting but even though I truly do not like taylor speculating on someone's sexuality is not ok.
Overrated is an understatement
Someone tell her there's more chord progressions.
The last taylor swift song i listened to was shake it off and i was like 8 years old at that time
I mean, like what else could anyone think she was?
Its just offensively bland
frfr no cap
I agree, it’s all about the 🤑
Taylor swift: the tortured billionaire who was born into a wealthy family. Let’s all cry that Jake gyllenhal and John Mayer were perfectly nice boyfriends. As long as she can capitalize off it and shout f the patriarchy (with a hollowness)… it’s all men’s fault… except the tattooed golden retriever… I bet he dumped her. Good boy
As shady as 1989 was,it was damn near flawless. Universal even. Nothing compared since
Lore is still interesting and valid songwriting but songwriting is only part of music. The music itself is tired. Sonically she last evolved in 2017.
I couldnt agree with you more...
She also used the same language of abuse "dominate, stalk, harass" to silence the man who tweeted publicly available flight logs. She definitely frames all criticism or rejection as ab*se, and weaponizes feminism constantly. Its an insult to real victims and such a privileged mindset.
Those aren’t lyrics. It’s a spell. A very powerful one that requires a mass chanting for the energy to pull it off.
But yeah pretty good video here
awesome take, could not agree more, thx for putting my thoughts into words
Cosigning for all of this (as a swiftie since 2008)
Not a fan of ttpd but this is how every swiftie should conduct themselves
Rare sane Swiftie
I disagree with the era's argument. If she's really trying to reuse her "era's" then she failed. Where's the Red era then? The 1989? The Speak Now? Fearless? Those are her most successful era's not Midnights or Folklore who were just released yesterday. I'm pretty sure y'all just want to find a reason to like this album. Even if the songs don't sound the same the writing is still trash.
so true and sad thanks
Thank you for making this video! ❤
You die as hero or you live long enough to become villain. She was a person, now she supports her fans cyber bully joe alwyn when he was depressed
Enough Jack she needs a different producer
It's a horrible album. Pathetic. Yuck. Depressing.
So High School reminds me of Doughy Latchkey's parents from Moral Orel
Those peace sign egg easters are just so cringey with her terrible timing. 😬
Taylors just a puppet the real monstar is the public that made her
I used to like t swift but now it's obvious to me she is truly a mastermind in the worst way she is turning art into a political capitalist weapon, the worst part is she has a lot of influence in the music industry so now everyone is trying to sell music instead of making it.. but I must mention I do not hate ttpd, so long London, how did it end, peter, the black dog, the prophecy and cassandra are good songs well at least good lyricism. As for the fact that they are super personal and shouldn't be out? Well yes but I'm not her so idc plus she literally sold her diaries so I wouldn't expect her to stop telling us the details of her life anytime soon lol.
MAD RESPECT!!!! BRAVO!!!👍👏
As someone who has criticisms on Taylor Swift, this video is mostly garbage.
Here is the summary of this mess of a video:
Can't stand her anymore 🤬
Also you mentioned about her suing Olivia and a College student, uhhhh the "college" student in question, who is also 21 years old, so a legal adult, has also been found out that he blackmailed Elon Musk for $40,000, for tracking his jet, also it was a "cease and desist" order, not suing, there a tad bit different.
forecast, not forecasted.
I can't sit through it.
I think artists really need a new angle and real creativity at this point. Shes becoming 🥱 boring. Her chord progressions are all the same. Every song is the same and not uplifting. I think she may be at the start of a downfall. Time for other artists to win.
I agree with almost everything, except with the whole Matty thing,I'm gonna have to side with TS on that one,she can date who she wants and not have a Mob come after her,Matty made a couple of jokes that were totally acceptable not that long ago,but ever since outrage culture blew up,now EVERYTHING is deemed racist and sexist,it's not up to fans to decide, especially if the definition of racism and sexism is redefined every couple of years(just look at any comedy from the 80's,90's or even 2000's),and let's say that you're right and that it turns out,he was in deed racist and sexist, well then let me just say, deal with it,that's how artists are, they are licenced to push some boundaries and dare to be edgier than average people, sadly that's not possible anymore, and that's probably why all modern artists are so bland.
being racist and sexist is not edgy
yeah couple funny jokes involving creepy comments about race play fetishes and making it hard for gay people to have rights in Malaysia. funny haha im rotfl rn
It all happened publicly at the eras tour and its cringe bc
That doesnt happen at 35, we all know better at that age.
So, now there is footage about how she is not a victim here
If she writes an entire album about the alwyn break up, well its different. We get it.
i get the swifties arent welcome here…
as a big fan i just want to state three things:
1. she has been the subject of conspiracy theories for many years now and people using her name to make money… we see you
2. we dont mindlessly swallow anything she puts out, to say that is to group all of us under the name of a cult when maybe only a few of us act that way. she is not a perfect person by any stretch, but generally she has a kind heart and produces great music
3. i am so sick of people only attacking her when there are countless other celebrities that deserve more attention and are way more problematic. i get that she is seen as trendy and some people cant handle her success but just keep it to yourself okay… at the end of the day its the haters giving her more attention than us fans which is pretty pathetic. attack people that actually deserve the hate and stop caring so much its not that deep
Where’s the section that people stealing music brought us to this point?
without an ounce of criticism....except that the album contains some of her rawest and most emotional songs that her fans obviously enjoyed, funny cuz since she is overexposed it gave some people a bucket of reasons to attack her online despite TTPD still being lyrically better than A LOT of albums released this year
Yeah ONLY her fans enjoyed it, because too many of you are so obsessed and delusional that she can literally fart into a microphone, call it a song and you will still defend it and say it's peak art.
I also like artists from my early teens (Buddy Holly) and Twenties (ABBA) so that should give you some idea of my age and appreciation of GOOD music😊
Edit: why would a grown man make money on the internet by accusing someone of hypocrisy? You did not state that as an opinion.
This is so weird lmao. Get well soon, gramps. Your mind is going.
Idk if this guy @andrewjenkinson7052 is a real old man or not, but his off handed comments about incontinence and Donald Trump made my night 😂😂😂😂
@@lilypond5158 period. People just want to talk bs sometimes 😂 I mean, I don't like a bunch of the other things that are going on in music but just because I don't understand it I'm not quick to judge it's trash, mainly when it's generating streams of income for so many people worldwide. If it's selling prolly cause it's hot, you don't need to like it because this is obvious and doesn't need validation from anyone .
Failed to mature as an artist and m tried jumping Lana’s whole style in response. The money outgrew her
@@bshhhhhhh I don't think how yall always thibk people are copying other people. They are INSPIRED. There's NOTHING original in this world, everything was borrowed somewhere else. I am happy that Taylor is getting inspired by Lana as Lana is the best living artist we have right now
@@gpelomundo Mhm, or she could try making something original?
I think this video is racist against strong powerful women!
As a black man I have never seen such hatred for a marginalized person.
My tears are flowing for Taylor Swift like the river of money she floats on in my dreams.
😅😅😅😅
