Yeah it was totally the one benching and not him dropping from .295 before the All Star Break to .251 after. Him being invited to the Home Run Derby was the worst thing that could happen to him. Went from a contact hitter to thinking he had second deck power. If he can't control his pouty bullshit and and correct his approach, we're absolutely right in not wanting him on the team anymore
Dombrowski treats Bohm like a guy with prospect pedigree of a first round draft pick who hasn’t quite put it all together yet meanwhile he’s going into his 6th year as a major leaguer at 29 years old he is what he is
And he is an All-star that hit 42 doubles this year and has 2 straight seasons of 95+RBI...worth more than the platoon players and prospects being offered to a WS contender.
The 2022 Phillies was their best chance and 2023 was their last chance. Why? Because of the Superteam Dodgers formed in 2024 and set the tone to dominate the NL. The Phillies knew they wouldn't stand a chance vs LA I n2024 once they meet in the postseason.
History is littered with statements like "This team will dominate the league for years," and almost always, those statements are false. There is a reason the games are played. And in modern baseball, with many rounds of playoffs, anything can happen. Like when the Diamondbacks went to the WS just ONE YEAR AGO. Certainty is the vestige of fools.
@@javi994 Precisely. But there's no shortage of fans who like to try to look like geniuses by saying "The Dodgers or Yankees or Mets ETC are going to dominate forever," as if it was fait accompli.
The Phillies’ trade ideas this offseason are giving delusional franchise mode GM vibes. Alec Bohm for Kyle Tucker? Or Mason Miller? Seriously? If they value Bohm like this, maybe don’t trade him and build a statue instead. Wild offseason energy.
On the 20 to 80 scale I'd rate Bohm as a fully developed 50. with 50 contact, 55 gap power, 45 power, 40 eye, 40 avoid Ks. A 50 defense at 3rd, with a 55 arm, 50 glove, and 45 range. And a 40 in base running, with 40 stealing, 40 speed, and 40 base running skill. He can have a good career, if he stays healthy, but the odds are good he will only give you 3 war a season until he is 30, then he will be trash in the next season or two. He's tradable to a team that needs a bat with decent defense at third to be contenders. All that he is worth is a starting pitching prospect in AA that has the potential to be a serviceable 3 spot starter in the bigs, or a rookie ball fielder non catcher non shortstop prospect that has the potential to be a 60 player in the majors. He almost isn't worth the hassle of the negotiations to get him if he is the main piece of the trade being offered.
Pennsylvania is a special state. Each major city is only allowed one team with Success. They’ll survive until the Zebra Chiefs beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Will you walk back your claims that teams would stop giving big contracts to pitchers now that teams are still giving big contracts to pitchers, even the ones with injury history?
You assume the reports in the media of who the Phillies asked for in a Bohm trade are accurate. I don't believe it. DD has been in the game for more than four decades, and his track record is excellent enough for him to be bandied about as a future Hall of Famer.
They can just cut him considering they have gotten nothing in attempts to trade Bohm. Glad my Giants signed Chapman to an extension, being hes one of the better 3rd basemans in the league
Phillies really said “you miss every shot you don’t take.” EDIT: I commented this literally one second before he said basically the exact same thing lol
those asking prices are delusional, and what makes it even more delusional is that they called them. everyone knows whoever asks first loses the upper hand. maybe they shouldve just not say anything and just wait for someone to ask about him then you could ask for that much and pretend that u love him and dont want to trade him.
Phillies aren't wrong. You're way off on this. Why offer more than they have? If they keep Bohm they're still in good shape. He's a 100+RBI guy if he stays healthy (he battled hand injuries the second half) and he protected Harper well. Also, he's very cheap for a player at his level.
If its not for Miller then its for nothing because they literally have zero else that makes the phillies a better team or even makes us the same team....honestly even if i wanted prospects for Bohm I'm not going to the A's whose prospects are absolute garbage.
Dave is delusional. He really tried to trade Nick Castellanos (which is one of the very FEW who showed up during playoffs). Bohm has no room on the Phillies. Hes not a 4 hole hitter and he’s not a 3rd baseman he’s really a 1st baseman. They really should go for Alec Bregman and Cody Bellinger but that’s too much for them to think about doing.
A Castellanos trade would be done to free up some money. I really think the Phillies could have had Devin Williams from the Brewers for Bohm, as a Braves fan I'm glad that didn't happen
Don’t get how the starting 3rd baseman for the NL All star team is a delusional trade chip. Whom also never got fully healthy after his late summer injury. The As reached out to Philly & obviously don’t wanna move Bohm as badly as the rumor mill suggests ; so the response was asking for a piece they knew they weren’t getting. And Kyle Tucker is a one year rental he won’t be a Cub in 2026. So I don’t blame the Phillies for not throwing in their best young prospects (one of whom could come up and take the 3B job by 2026). So I don’t think that they want to move Bohm unless it’s for something that improves a 95 win division winner that went cold against a red hot opponent in the NLDS. You’re delusional if you don’t think they can compete with one of the deeper rotations in baseball with what’s still one of the more powerful lineups in the NL.
