I gotta imagine Tucker can get to 400 mil or damn close. Prices are going up and he’s a dynamic player on both sides of the ball. There will be multiple very rich teams in need next year
@@1TightMinute I agree and it sucks for Tucker. The Cubs have no offense and nobody to protect him. He's going to have a down year, in a contract year. This trade will cost him, I'd guess,$75M-$80M. Based on an AAV of around $40M and teams unwillingness to add another year or two.
As a cubs fan, thank you for posting a video dedicated to us! As you said, we don’t have anyone on the team that is a superstar. If we don’t resign Tucker, than all this was for a waste. We are a top 5 market team and it masked no sense how we can’t spend anything on free agency…. I was surprised that shota signed with us and can only hope roki sasaki does that same.
If you believe in the WAR statistic, the Cubs went from an 85 win team in 2023 to an 81 win team in 2024. So they got a little worse. The front office had to do something. They do have good players in the minors ready to graduate, but you can't just throw them out there and expect them to win right away. I think the Cubs were hoping to transition them all in while still fielding a competitive team. And they have been competitive the last 2 years, I suppose, just a litte disappointing. But they obviously thought they needed to ramp things up this year while bringing an even bigger wave of these young players up to start their major league careers. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing. We shall see.
Question from a Sasaki fan. Can they pay him when he comes up for arbitration in 3 years? From everything that I've been seeing, the Cubs seem like the Mariners. Profitable but stingy.
@@jykim3604if the concern is Roki getting a big guaranteed bag of money 💰, Cubs plenty deep pocketed to offer a large signing bonus with an arb buyout and extension contract if things look good after three service years. As a Cubs fan, I'm not sure what they're doing! If they don't resign Tucker ,then the trade was pointless. And they've never paid a player more than $200 million and it'll cost at least $300 million or money to keep him
Am I the only one that hates this move on the Astros side, you traded Tucker for a THIRD BASEMAN, and THIRD BASE PROSPECT when you’re still supposed to sign back BREGMAN?! Well not anymore the Astros are officially on the decline
Bergman is on the decline. They don’t need him anymore. Tucker is a playoff choker and definitely wasn’t gonna re-sign. The Astros got a quality 3rd Baseman, a major league ready starting pitcher, and a top 15 prospect.
maybe the plan is to sell tickets, since they dont really have a star, and if they fall out of contention, they could just trade him at the deadline and probably get more than they gave up for him. i dont think thats a bad plan at all
Jed Hoyer and the front office’s goal is to spend the bare minimum that’s still good enough to barely get into the playoffs. They’re trying to take advantage of playing in a weak division by winning 85-89 games
If the Cubs are 5 games or more back in the NL central at the trade Deadline, they'll deal Tucker away for prospects and then be back to the same place they are now.
@@jasonjohnston4766 the only prospect we have up was Smith, Ski has been up and down since we got him so no loss there, Paredes we hardly knew so ditto for him. IF the Cubs have to deal Tucker at the deadline they will get a haul for him as long as he doesn’t flame out this season.
Wow the nl central finally has someone who can take a few more games off brewers. Honestly central needs teams switched out maybe throw in dbacks or something to make interesting
considering they have Tucker for one year, i dont see the point in trading the others. if they keep bellinger and seiya. them plus tucker and swanson can make for a pretty lethal offense
Kyle Tucker is one of the best players in MLB, but as a Cubs fan I’m devastated. We gave up our future allstar Cam Smith for one year that isn’t in a WS window.
I really doubt that Jed would make that trade for a rental. This might be the first time they’re actually actually willing to pay a guy over 200 million.
You don't know Smith will be a star. Nobody does. But Tucker is pretty much a star right now. Anyway, the Cubs have a bunch of third basemen in their minor league system. Maybe one of them takes a huge leap in development. It happens all the time. And they can always just draft another stud third baseman since they supposedly have good scouting.
Cam Smith hasn’t even played 1/2 a season in AA, relax with the future all star talk. You aren’t going to trade a bunch of garbage for a top 10 player in the league.
Bro the way that they are starting to compete is by bringing in a star player which is what they’ve been missing the past 2 years. This move just proves that they are serious about competing next year and more moves are coming. You have to give up value to get value and there’s nothing saying they can’t keep him, ownership has iterated again and again that they are willing to spend on the right player. You are so pessimistic when it comes to every move this team makes and lowkey shit on them which makes me think you just aren’t a serious individual
Dude relax, Tucker has been a Cub maybe 24 hours and you’re whining that you don’t know what they’re going to do with him after next season. Yes Tucker is that superstar they badly needed, along with still another couple of pieces, but give them a chance to sit down with him and meet him face to face…you’ll get your answer soon enough.
@ not always. There was no ambitious drive from the fanbase or management to have a repeat. We were content with one championship. We need that Michael Jordan ambition again. Hopefully we get a good trade for Beli. Since Pete Crow is our future Center Fielder.
Kris Bryant was my favorite. That team should've done more. Proud Cubs fan here. Got to see them destroy the Dodgers live in LA game 4 NLCS on the way to the WS win. 😎 Happy about the trade...!

Paredes’ bat doesn’t play well at Wrigley, he’s strictly a fly ball pull hitter and those are just deep fly outs.
