The problem with horse hay isn't the horses. It's the horse people who make it difficult. Good luck with your biz! If farming was easy, every one would do it.👍
I know you feeling about those bundles. Our Bale Bandit with those metal straps makes a really tight bundle. No air flow in center. We run preservative it fixes most of our problems but it can't fix all of them.
How you going, Roger hear from South West of Western Australia, fantastic channel and a very well run operation, when you so you inoculate your bales, what product do you use and how is it applied, kind regards Roger. 👍
Usually we have to monitor dryness over high moisture......The Sun Gets Hot In the south...... With our variety of grass hay we never have used any type of preservative.... Tifton Bermuda has extremely fine stems and long slender leaves, 65 years ago we could cut before dawn and bale that afternoon at less than 15% moisture......
So much money tied up in equipment... The scale of things nowadays is crazy. I grow enough hay to feed my horses and a few bales to sell, peanuts really, all my hay equipment put together wouldn't add up to ten thousand dollars canadian. Deering horse mower, 477 haybine, horse dump rake, JD side delivery rake, MF 12 square baler, Hesston 540 round baler, home made ground drive small bale loader and 3 flat racks, buckrake for the loader, and an elevator. All old and built or rebuilt and fixed by me.
Looks like some high quality stuff I’m going to guess $9.56 per bale. The GIFS you slide in there are absolutely hilarious too! I’ll send you my address, I’ll keep a lookout for the hat 😎
Can you share with us what products you are using for weighing and stroke counting on the 1840's? We are looking to do the same thing in our operation and would appreciate any thoughts on how you cam to choose what you did. Thanks.
Picky horse owners, bet they'll be fighting over that "bad" hay during the next drought... Last fall I bought some "stuck together, dusty" grass hay for our dairy cow, she loves it. Sample came back 101 RFV and everything else tested over median for mixed grass.
I was wondering why you don’t use liquid preservatives? And does the silo king preservatives fall through the hay to the bottom of your stuffer chamber
Man, this makes me feel like I made a mistake. I just received my Gandy 45 Forage box. Have to make a mounting bracket for it. Hopefully it will work for me. I’d guess $15 for the good and $5 for the discolored.
I am going with 11 and 8. Of course I don't know what state auraria you are in but in my area here in Indiana I can get the best alfalfa and orchard grass hay around $8.50 a bale. The alfalfa mixed with grass goes for around 7 and it is also very good quality. We are not feeding horses we are feeding spoiled goats. I find it cheaper to buy the best hay because they do not pick through it and waste 80% of the bail like they do a mixed Bale.
Holy sheep shit Dude, it's been a month, missed you lads! Having baled hay and straw for 2 and a half decades now it never surprises me how color can cost so much, as far as feed value goes the product has the same value in nutrition. I've always tried to stay clear of horsey hmm hmmm hmm, ppl. I keep the hesston 4900 on the 8400 and pack em up. Thanks for your time mate. More please. A month bro!
Glad you posted a video, I was starting to wonder if you had given up on you-tube. Always trying to improve, is a sign of a good company.
No! We just simultaneously had some not so great things happen and got really busy, but we are back in action!
Wow, a vendor with a QC program. Nice work.
We really try!

$12 and $7. Great video. Thanks for sharing!!
Great video, hope the new system helps! $12 for the better and $3.75 for the discolored. Looking forward to the detailed video for the new applicator
The result of the bale baron packing tighter than the arcusin. We put preservative on anything wetter than 13%.
You're definitely right

Love your videos. $2.00 for the damaged hey, and $10.00 for the good hey.

We all have different risk tolerances. That is a nice set up you got!
Hope to see some planting videos this spring

What did they do before these products were on the market??
Lol, great point. I imagine everyone tried to manage fewer acres, so there was less of a need to push the moisture at times.
Through salt around in the mow.
Sorry wrong threw.
True, many people still do that. My dad doesn’t think it works that well but I’ve never tried salt
Had to wait on the weather more,a lot or mature, stemy hay was made.

We are too!
Liquid preserve with nozzles is the best. We have 3 nozzles spraying right into the pickup head
Great video as always 🇺🇸
I was wondering why you don’t use liquid preservatives? And does the silo king preservatives fall through the hay to the bottom of your stuffer chamber
Did you spray preservative on these bales?
what is the product you are putting on ? dose it keep the hay from heating or is it more of a preservative?

I don't think I can trust a quality control guy wearing a Browns hoodie. It just shows a lack of judgement. LOL
come on now! It’s a sign of strong faith lol
15 for the green one and 3.50 per bale
This is a good guess! I’m not gonna say yes or no so others try to also guess 😉
Good video. 12 and 7
16 for the pretty bale. 8 for the lower quality. But a horse would eat both.
I'm thinking $8 for the nice bales and 4 for the discolored.
Assuming 50# bale at your barn, $8.00 for the better one $6.25 for the iffy one. Based on what we get here in SW Ohio. Hay Hud out.
$9 for the good bale, $4 for the almost as good bale
I use liquid propipnic acid on my 1840. I really dont like it as it taint s the hay smell with even the smallest ammount.
Check out Guardian hay preservative
3rd cut alfalfa high quality 27.50 in Florida ....cow grade 7.00

That hay you are calling bad I would feed to my horses.
MF 180 in shop have a back story ?
When are you going to get steamers to pull in front of the balers and steam the hay?
just curious, all those grain bins behind you is that another part of your business that you don't cover on this channel
$12 for "good", $5.50 for lower rfv. In my area the # would be way different.
that higher moisture looks like baleage almost
Turns out, I've been buying poor cured hay for the last 4 years 😢😅
12 for the green 5 for the brown
Depends where they are. Home gardeners who want ground cover for summer ... Pay same for rotten alfalfa as they would for good straw.
Premium .22cents, discolured .12cents per pound

$12 for the premium and $4 for the discolored. $3 for the dusty ones.
12$ for the prime and 5$ for the heat damaged
10 for good bale and 4.50 for the musty hay
You ever have any issues with knotter fans? Both of my balers the fans stopped working and I haven't found the issue yet.
Yes, we blew fuses on our smaller tractors from running the fans
@@FarmingInsider I'm getting power out of the tractor. Fan just doesn't work.
