Today I want to play for you an arrangement I've made © over the popular Scottish song Skye Boat Song composed by Anne C. MacLeod and Harold E. Boulton. It's the song on the opening of Outlander, one of my favorite TV series. I added in my arrangement celtic and Scottish ornaments I created, harmonics, opened arpeggios with opened strings...

Normally I would comment on how good the guitar playing is, but jesus, it's seriously impressive how you manage to sing this song the way that you do. I would have no idea you were Spanish only listening to your singing, you legitimately sound as if you were actually Irish or Scottish. Enhorabuena, eres increíble!

Brava! Buenisima, Paola! En la prima caseta de muzica para la flauta de pan que yo engrave, "The Skye Boat Song" era una de las canciones que yo engrave. Mi version era hecho con cuatro partas de flautas de pan choral, accompaniado por mi mismo tocando la guitarra. Mi nombre "Nai" significa "flauta de pan" en idioma Rumana - y la flauta de pan es un instrumento folclorico de Rumania.

1) My favorite so far of the stuff she's done. Very beautiful arrangement and beautifully sung.
2) Very simple melody and basic chord progression, which can use some things to add interest by variation (harmonics part, etc.), and she delivers big-time with this arrangement.
3) The tab page will reproduce in English (sort of) - at least enough to get you there. I don't know how, but it suddenly appeared that way for me - maybe happened by using the cc feature on the vid (?). But non-Spanish speakers need to use that cc feature anyway to get through the spoken intro and lyrics.
4) She employs that Gmaj7/B shape (at least that's what I call it) again to good effect - again, to add depth and interest and richness to the arrangement. You can find that shape utilized in "Longer" by Dan Folgelberg, for example (G, Am7, Gmaj7/B, C). Love the change from that to A major.
5) Makes me wish she'd sing more songs in English of this general style. She has a lovely voice (just listen to the "billow and breeze" lines, for example - wow), with great English diction.
6) Only bummer is the abrupt ending that comes out of nowhere.

That’s a really nice arrangement!
! live on the West Highland mainland, six miles from Skye ... I can see the whole range of the Cuillin Mountain range from my living room window. I used to work at the Gaelic college on Skye (Sabhal Mòr Ostaig), and we had a couple of Spanish people who had learned Gaelic and were working there, as well as the occasional Spanish students doing degree courses through the medium of Gaelic.
Incidentally, as you mentioned the Battle of Culloden, it just so happens that today, (16th April), is the 274th anniversary of the battle and some recordings of rare Gaelic songs, composed around the time of the 1745 Jacobite uprising have been released to mark the occasion. 😃🏴
