From your review I got the stahlwille 3/8 flexhead. A great tool. Helps a lot on tight spaces compared to hazet 1/2. It can't 100% replace the strength of 1/2 ratchet but very useful. Removed the downpipe and steering box in my audi for repairing.
Even though Hazet hiper series ratchets are my one of the favourites but 3/8" flex head ratchet from Stahlwille is my most favourite. As you said narrow profile and compact ratchet is a big plus

Bought Gedore 1919-90 anniversary box becouse got it cheap. My first made in germany socket set and getting a lot of pleasure just owning and opening it :), hopefully would get Stahwille 3/8 sometime also and maybe 166 part Biltema set (review hopefully incoming..?) to keep these babies clean :)
One question: do you grease these ratchets (eg. gedore 1993 u20) or just use them? If you grease what stuff would u recommend? There seems to be some grease coming out but his socket set has been in warehouse like 10y I think so just wondering not to spoil it by playing around...

I wish to get Gedore anniversary set too someday. Biltema's 166 set is quite famous with good price but the bits are really weak and broke easily. Ratchets and sockets are ok quality but bits have poor quality. Old Bitltema's were ok. But they have 10 years warranty which is good. I do grease Ratchets mostly with ''Super Lube''. Some time I lube old classic ratchets with normal bearing grease.

Car Repair, I really like the head size on that "teardrop" Gedore ratchet, nice and small. As for the flat shank that is way I got the Gedore 1997 15 inch breaker bar, I was thinking it would get past engine pulleys better. I wouder if that ratchet has a 3/8 dr mac gear inside the head. Question I think you have the Hazet 916HPK how do the head size compare ?
Yes, you are right, flat shaft has some benefits as you mentioned already. I dont have hazet hpk ratchet but I have similar hazet ratchet with 30 gear teeth. Head size of that ratchet is pretty small. Head size of Gedore and Hazet are pretth much same on side ways infact Hazet has slightly small profile profile but not that significant. But teardrop side of Gedore is smaller than the rest

You need to try z90 MATADOR Ratchet. Matador its a old school germany brand, for more fun, it a OEM Mercedes, BMW wrenches. A lot of japanese people order them.
I just checked them, looks very interesting and quality tools. Its on my wish list now
