- In this video, we are using a 12" swimbait that weighs aroun 12 oz! This monster swimbait is super realistic and we throw it in an attempt to catch a 5 or 6 foot fish!
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING, PLEASE LIKE, COMMENT, AND SUBSCRIBE!
"I couldn't do it because I hurt my shoulder." - Ty ... I'd have a bum shoulder too if I lifted half the amount of prize fish you catch.
Ha ha thank you man honestly it’s overuse from casting n setting the hook!
Gonna have to fish for bluegill for a little bit! Thank you for watching!
Sweet video. I feel like you would have more luck with that if it had a third hook towards the rear of it. Good catches!
I think you’re absolutely right going to try some different rigs and figure it out!
Yes a hook around the tail area, you know if you catch a fish on that giant lure it’s going to be a MONSTER
That was an epic bait! The swim action in the water was really nice. I bet your getting another one of those! That was pretty nice fishin boys, keep at it!
Already got a few on the way, and even one much bigger bait! Thank you for watching
Where? Hope much?$$
Would that catch a grouper, shark, tarpon??
If you want to keep gar on your line, unravel about a foot of nylon rope, and replace the hook with the strands of nylon rope. When the gar strikes it rolls wrapping the rope around its mouth. Works like a charm.
Awesome to see the gar eating lures like that! If you know where chocolate bayou is, do you have any tips on catching gar in the brackish areas?
It’s all about the mullet back there man!!!
@@TyPigPatrol alright thanks!
I always call it the joe dirt lol
Sheer POWER in that water!
Keep up the great work!
Thank you, man you know I will!
Wow! Nice catch!!!
And yet you've still sent us a fantastic video despite your shoulder injury which I hope gets better as fast as because it's you and only you that is the fishing guru my friend
I appreciate that Matt overuse injury from casting and setting the hook to much gonna have to fish for bluegill for a little while! Thank you for watching
Are you able to switch up your hookset arm to give one arm a break?
"Dude, that was sick."
(RUclips's Caption) "2006"
😂😂
I'd be terrified of losing that swim bait. That thing is a car payment!
I didn’t know that gar hit lures, that was an awesome day
Thank you for watching!!

Thank you for tuning in again Clyde d!
Need a dang saltwater rod to toss that behemoth 🤣
I know the bending the rod on the back cast was insane! Thank you for watching!
TY them fish was so beautiful wow 😳
Thank you man I especially enjoyed that long nose gar!
I used to add a third tail hook to my mega lures : )
I think we’re gonna have to do that. We got to catch one on it for real. Thanks for watching man!
Dude you're catching monsters that I have never even caught in my life and acting like its nothing haha
Thank you man I appreciate you watching!
Great video ty
Thank you very much Eddy!!

Thank you, Liam!
My kinda video bro 💪💪 PIG4LIFE 💥💥👊
Thanks man going back soon to try and get one all the way in on it! How’s the fishing in Georgia right now?
@TyPigPatrol Haven't been lately. Because of it being so hot. But it won't be long and should be turning on.
I had a pet Gar , he was small and so much fun to watch ❤
That’s so cool I think each one has their own personality! Thank you for watching Marilyn!!
Love your videos man
Thank you very much Caleb
So Cool!
Thank you, Grady! I appreciate you always watching, and commenting!
Have you guys tried using circle hooks with bait? You will want a rod with a relatively limber top section and some backbone in the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of the rod. Just leave the rod in a rod holder with a few feet of slack line and the drag set at only a few pounds.
The fish will engulf the bait and begin moving off. Once it feels the hook it will take off and start the hook point; usually in the corner of the mouth. Then just tighten the drag and lean back on the rod (no "hookset"), to get the hook past the barb. Fight the fish the rest of the way in as normal. I know it works for carp; you can give them six feet of slack to play with and they still get hooked right in the mouth.
Yeah, sometimes that works in most cases they just don’t grab the whole bait.
But you are right that’s a safe way to catch them. Thanks for watching!
That’s a man after my heart there. When I get back to south Texas this fall I’m going into gar mode. My home lake will become choke canyon and I’ll be learning a new fish the gar. Hope too use some artificial bites to catch them also. Thanks for great video
Just caught a 15lbs striped bass yesterday on mine. Caught a 25 pounder on it in June.
When I lived in Florida I would fish for gar and bass when it was too windy to salt water fish. Gar are total bitch about hitting any artificial. Where I fish there was too much bait and they just don't, trust me I've thrown 1,000,000 things out there 1,000,000 times. They actually spook and swim away from most of them. But I did find 1 awesome trick that you should try. I throw a zera spook out and just let it sit. The gar will come up to take a peak at it and actually bump it with their nose a lot of times. As soon as they start to turn away from it, rip it. Just a quick snap like you use to walk the dog. But maybe a little exaggerated. It takes patience and nerves when a big gar comes up and will literally bump It with his nose. It makes you wanna just move the lure right then, bbut it just does not work the same way. You gotta be patient and let the fish turn a little speck, The fish needs to take his eyes off the lure for a split second. Don't let him get more than 6" away from your lure. You're not letting the fish turn around or swim away. You just want him to take his eyes off the bait for a second. They will turn and crush it every time. A lot of times they swim towards it and turn away before they get to it. You get the lower the same little snap just once. They will turn and head towards the bait again. Again this works when you can see the gar, but lucky For fisherman gar love to sit and sun themselves. If it's Marty and you can't see them you can check it out and look for their weeks or check it out and just give it a random twitch every once in a while, but that method you just getting lucky with your timing, the other way its automatic you find them and you have a lockdown method that never fails. The only other artificial I've gotten gar on ar paddle tail swim baits with the weighted belly. 6"Storm Mullet That are sold for red fish and snook. What's a spook away from the bait 9 out of 10 times and when they do hit it they normally just rip the beaten half Without you getting a hook set. I hope this helps somebody I tried to be a detailed and thorough as I can That people understand what I'm trying to explain... Good luck and tight lines guys.
thanks for the tips, I dont live near any gar but now i know how to catch them if i travel.
You got WAY too many people in that little jon boat. lol
It definitely only worked with a couple people casting at a time, but it definitely got the job done!
Fun video
Dang that swim bait lure is bigger than anything I’ve ever caught;
Where did you get your fishing lure
This one I got from eBay but you can get them from tackle warehouse. Thanks for watching!
I'd switch to single siwash, the hook towards the tail, put a bead chain on,so it can free float with that big lure,we use the same trick in the pacific northwest fishing for salmon
Hey! I dig your videos! What rod and reel were you using to throw that monster swim bait? I want to throw big baits but I can’t use casting gear. I have an arthritic elbow and casting gear kills me! Thanks and keep cranking out the awesome videos!
That was a Vexan beast rod. Rated for like 8 oz lures!
Where are ya'll fishing?
I could be way off but it
Looks like the lock at canal point by Okeechobee..
Great way to hold big longnose is by the gills, gently of course. They tend to kinda mellow out when you hold them like that
Yeah, I was pretty surprised how calm this one was until the end! Thank you for watching!
I love seeing stuff like this. Ive been trying hard recently for the new NC State Record Longnose Gar for a little bit now. Catch alot in the teens. The current record is 25 pounds. But i dont catch many on artificials

I know where the state record longnose is in North Carolina, well what lake it’s in. My cousin is going to school for natural resources and they went out with the game wardens and shocked fish up and I have pics of a 27.8 pound longnose
It’s got to be so difficult to catch them on artificial! I really appreciate how they jump, and how acrobatic they are! Thank you for watching man
I remember hooking one one of those buggers in brackish water unsuspectingly on a Yo-Zuri black/gold jerkbait.
Nice very nice
Thank you very much Randle. Hope all is well with you man.
I've got one of their giant gizzard shad line through. I've had countless strikes but haven't had one inhale it enough to get that hook that's on the upper back.
Are you bass fishing!? I thought about those two but man that’s just so tall gotta be hard to really get em !
@@TyPigPatrol ya buddy! Bass only. You do get lots of bites on those baits, but it's hard to hook up with anything under about 6 pounds. Thankfully, if you know where to look, 6 pounders are pretty common in Texas. I haven't thrown it much lately though since I'm starting to rep a Japanese brand that's new to the US. If you wanna order some and put them on your channel, I'll send you a discount code lol
Yall need like a nice semi stiff stuff rod. Think you bud would've hooked them better but how cool is this
👍🏽👊🏽✊🏽☺💯
Thanks for watching from Detroit man!
Ok the bes beutiful
Casting for them like this is now on my radar 100% On a side not you really need to get an upper body workout put together bud to keep you fishing for these beast for a long time as you can completely wear out those small internal muscles and if they blow out that would be the end of your BIG FISH days unfortunately... Just looking out for a fellow fishing addict like myself!
It’s the tendons that are hurting me. Tendinitis from overuse. Really sucks!
@@TyPigPatrol You probably don't know this about me but I have been through the wringer as far as injuries and problems but have been fixing them for a loooong time now so I might have a leg up on most personal trainers and know what you need to fix said problems 👊🏼💪🏻
He IS getting an upper body workout tossing that thing lol
@@philbrown6787 🤣Workout and straight up Physical Abuse are close but not the same!
I was big into physical abuse via construction work for 20 years of my life. Even after just managing work for 10 years it caught up with me in torn rotator cuffs. Despite 3 surgeries on one it’s still torn. Hence I limit my catches to 15 pounds or under and weaning myself from softball😢
So does that mean you’re not going to float fish for them with cut anymore? I had no idea that they were susceptible to damage from hooksets like that!
We will still do that, but use much smaller hooks! Thank you for watching!
💜🎣
Thanks for always tuning in brother!
@@TyPigPatrol yes Sir🫡💜🎣
That looked like a great day, thanks guys
Do you do tournaments?
I used to, but not much anymore. I don’t like being told when to quit fishing!
Damn losing one of the better lures like that, oof I felt that, what an absolute unit of a lure, & those gar even bigger units for hitting that trout……..you guys did great……get some ice on them shoulders ty, been lifting them biggins huh?….😊
I had some one pound bass take on a big 1 1/2 pound Bluegill . They could never swallow the Bluegill but they have part of it in their mouths . If fish is hungery they will eat or try to eat anything that moves .
Go to cambls pond in the northern area of idaho as soon as you hit the water u get catfish huge bass amd trout 😍 love the vid tho
Where at pokemon
On Lake of the Woods in Canada, we fished with 12' +14" baits and caught muskie up to 46"
Haha, I like to see something about yank that rod out of Henry's hands.
That’s the dream definitely going back soon with the same bait or a bigger bait!! Thanks for watching Hensley.
that guy is fired
He actually did really well just super hard to get them all the way in
@@TyPigPatrol definitely a giant lure that needs a giant mouth.
Ty when are you gonna try and catch a musky? Or even some northern pike...
I swear, I think that gar are taking over the waters.
hey ty question when you hit 500k subs would you go noodling for giant blues and flathead catfish
I got invited to do that, and I still think I might but it’s but it just seems more sporting to catch them the traditional way!
I'd like to see what was tearing up that big lure 😂🤣🇺🇸
Gar, he pulled a tooth out the bait
Big old alligator gar! Thanks for watching Jimmy!
You need bigger hooks on the swim bait. Check out a Muskie bulldawg bait.
I would not have that guy using my lure he was trying to Horse those fish like they where Blue gill.😂
Big Mississippi or Tennessee catfish weighing 70 plus pounds will eat that.😅
That would be a dream. Come, true to have that happen, man! Can you imagine that strike?
Where was that lake? I used to catch those in louisiana.
Can u do some go pro drops in places like this?
I really want to try that. I’m not sure if the water is clear enough but definitely worth looking into!
Try the catfishing there it used to be good
WERE IS THIS..?? Your Lure Is One I'd Use fishing On Lake Superior...
Very cool video...Too bad about that massive bait. What does something like that go for $$ ??
I got one for $24 at a bait and tackle in Tennessee. Recommend heavy baitcast tackle . Spinning gear will rip your index finger apart in no time when repeated casting this beastly lure
Q:
What monster eats a 12-inch swimbait?
A:
*EVERY FISH YOU CATCH!!*
Thank you for watching man!
Anyone know what state is this in. I thought it was texas but not sure
Have had big northern pike t bone 18 inch walleye. So 12 inch baits are not to big. They have 16 inch baits for muskie.
Have you ever tried that UV glue ultra violet glue you can make fishing lures out of it you can repair any lower you could do anything you could have laid two lines side-by-side and glue them they will not come apart
I have the 8” exactly like that and the 10” & 12” in the newer model
Where is this at.?
Trinity river, Texas!
You guys need a fishing platform. Toe it up there.
Where is this dam at ? Does anyone know???
😎🇺🇸Looks Like Good Bait For A KODIAK BEAR or Maybe a GRIZZLY ???
Its got bottom hooks, you gotta sweep down. Your setting the hook up like its a top hook
Where is this?
I have used for Pike catch8ng!
when I was a kid I lived in Missouri right on the Mississippi. We hated these fish. They would come in with the Spring floods into our lakes and creeks. They destroyed the bass and crappie populations. I live in Oregon now and I am glad I will never see another "Billygar".
I've caught a 30lb blue cat that had a 12 inch black crappie in his stomach & A 14lb flathead with a 10 inch bluegill in its stomach lol
That’s so cool man I think people sometimes need to use bigger Baits! Thanks for watching!
What size jon boat is this nice boat
That is a 14 foot Jon boat. Perfect for this type of stuff. Thanks for watching.
@TyPigPatrol sheesh yall four made it look bigger than 14ft good video an that's a monster bait from Savage gear
Hey brother
There he is!
That lure is the same size as my.... ahem
This kinds looks like three rivers in simmsport louisiana
861th view
Thank you Lucy!!!
4:14 anybody else think the hooks are too small for that bait?
You may be right I’m not sure how to rig it properly but I’m gonna figure it out! Thanks for watching!
I have the same bait and its murder on the finger if u use a spinning reel when casting. Need to get a thimble for finger protection. Much better to throw this savage gear monster on bait casting gear. Big Stripers love this. What dam? Cherokee?
What lake is this?
Not made of wood, but that jelly like substance.. just pour molds and segment..hit me up for a patent.
Had him on the big bait then ripped it out of his mouth. Put a stinger hook near the tail and guaranteed you land it.
Hate to see how much that lure cost no way i would risk it on a fish like gars
Guess thats what separates the boys from the men though
First
Thank you brother
first
Yes, indeed! Thank you for watching!
Were the hell you live that you have all those Gar there are latterly no places in my state were gar are that heavily populated but then again we do not through gar back.
Lockness
wby don’t you fish for white bass hybrids or striped bass
Can it catch a grizzly?
