Any tips! I fish the ribble mainly on stick for silvers , had a couple of barbel,, plenty on the feeder as its pretty easy ,. Certainly fly would be interesting!
Great Video Bob. Really enjoyed that. Love floating fishing for Barbel on the Wye. Nothing better than seeing the float vanish and the pull of a big barbel. I’m going to have to give it a go on the Tidal if conditions are good.
Barbel on the float is a passion of mine, but I think for the purest experience you must use a centrepin reel. That being said, I'd never even considered fishing for them on the Tidal Trent this way - the river I fish is substantially smaller and shallower.
My, you are on the ball Leigh! Well done for finding it so quickly. Web site is going live in the morning and to save time I made this clip visible to test the link through works a matter of minutes ago. There will be over 30 more clips to follow in the coming weeks and months. Catch up soon.
Brilliant video bob brilliant floats as well dont use any other than dave Harrell I'll have to have a go on tidal not bin for years its dave by the way
I gave up working on the Railway on June 16th, 2008. I had done multiple managerial roles across the network in my final years with an area ranging from Kings Cross to the Sottish borders. Funnily enough I bumped into John Grantham this summer during a sunny trip to Cleethorpes.
Nice video Bob. You certainly got the shoal going there. I suppose you could use meat too. Is that just downstream from Cromwell on Ashfield AA water. Tight lines Sir 💪
Great video Bob. My type of Trent fishing now and I have rarely legered in the last three seasons. I have not yet ventured to the tidal though. Looking forward to picking up a copy of your book on 6th November at the Newark Showground. Is there a reason you use all shot rather than olivettes?
@richardburns1287 there are plenty of "on line" olivettes available now or just use float stops on the line and adjust either as necessary. Big avons or bolos for bottom feeding fish is not really stick float fishing for which I would use shot to adjust presentation and sink rate.
True carp are all the same. Go back fat enough and you will find they were all commons. Leather carp were selectively bred from commons to make food preparation easier (scraping the scales). Mirrors are defective leathers so basically are defective carp. True species, roach, chub, bream, barbel, perch, pike, zander, dace, minnows, stickleback, etc are all pure species. It is carp that are the faulty interlopers.
Brilliant video , do miss fishing the Trent. Thanks Bob brought back a few memories.
Float fishing for them is brilliant, we fly fish for them on the river Ribble! Now that is fun! Cracking video bob

Yes they are!

Great video Bob. Thanks for sharing. Interesting point on the feeding and bait dropper usage 👏
Fantastic film!
Thank you. Another will be released next week.
Great film Bob. Had my first ever trip to the Trent the other day, I just sat there thinking I want to float fish this 😊
There is so much more to the Trent than carbelling, so many species to target

@@michaelvincent8306 It's called the Complete Book Of Legering. Occasional copy still crops up on eBay, etc.

Brilliant Bob. I have never caught a barbel on the float but will be giving it ago on the Ribble 😁
@@wesleydavies1227 It is not as hard as some make it out to be. Location and correct feeding is everything. Focus on those and you won't go far wrong.
Lovely fishing! Have subscribed 👍🎣🐟
Haha... I was going to recommend this to you as well. Good stuff eh?
@@grahamnash9794 Definitely. I’ve grown up reading Bob’s advice 🎣🐟
Lovely Bob!

Adapt, Adopt and improve. I have never forgotten that. All the best from Alan and Carl, Clifton Grove.
Funnily enough I refer to that specific quote in my upcoming book and include a picture of it.
Lovely fishing Bob..
Thanks 👍
Thanks for this video Bob I enjoyed it. Thank you for all the other stuff you do regarding the Trent as well 👍

It was no accident that's for sure.

Yes on both counts.

IN A KINDA WAY ALL THOSE BARBELS ARE THE SAME‼️🥱🥱🥱 THAT'S ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT WITH CARP‼️♥️
