Just picked up a PRS SE Tremonti used. Traded 2 other guitars and a little cash, worth every penny. Fit and finish is amazing on the SE's, and they play awesome. That Starla sounds big, full, and EPIC! Great review!
I am constantly impressed with PRS pickups lately. Their guitars are not just good looking anymore. They are doing some amazing things with their pickups now. I absolutely love the sound of their new 58/15 LT pickups, and the Paul’s Guitar TCI pickups are fantastic as well, and of course the JM single coils in the Silver Sky’s are great. I also got to try an SE with their 57/08 and 59/09 pickups, and I loved those as well. Whatever the team has been doing with their pickups lately, I hope they keep it up.
that was my biggest takeaway from this video: the pick ups sound a lot better than other PRS' I've heard. It makes me want one of these SEs, or at least the pick ups lol

I’m not usually a big fan of PRS guitars-looks or sound. However, this is right in my wheelhouse. I would play the hell out of this guitar…though I’m curious to see if other finishes are available, and if they’re as attractive. The single-coil tones sound exquisite! Coil splits don’t always compete with proper single-coils, but this one sounds stellar. I m honestly blown away by the tones this guitar renders available!
In 2022, Starla is only available in black. There were more options in the past. Mine is frosted green same as the guitar used in PRS website video. Such a great guitar, however at least in Australia, few people is interested, Starlas are always on sale here.
@@sjazzp I have the metalic green starla as well. First electric I bought and still love it. Such a clasic look, a great sound and really comfortable to play. Can highly recommend it.

The PRS SE 245 and SE Mira are also sweet guitars! 😍 I compared the SE 245, SE Mira, and SE Starla with the SE Custom 24-08. The SE 24-08 won my money. Though the SE series is more of a budget choice, they have all of the PRS culture in them. You cannot go wrong with one of these guitars: I love mine! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Holy cow, a Les Paul killer......great unique tone, really versatile and it holds tune even at the first frets, unlike the typical tuning problems with Gibsons. Terrific build quality for the price. Not a Humbucker fan, but with that really great coil split I'm sold.
I played 2 of them, that one and the previous year's frost green. The frost green one was near perfect, I would have bought it if I wasn't buying an amp that day. The more recent one had an issue where the frets felt awful. You could feel them all when sliding up and down the neck like speedbumps, which is really uncharacteristic of PRS guitars. Tone was unbelievable in both cases and I love the shape of the body. Really not a fan of tortoiseshell but it's not as bad on black as it is with other colors. Cool demo!
I don't have the Starla guitar, but I have the Starla pickups in a partscaster, with a TV Jones T-Armond in the middle. And I've got that HSH configuration with a Freeway Switch 10-way switch (guess where I learned about that from). And that guitar is just absolutely awesome.
While the SE guitars are made in Indonesia by Cor-Tek, EVERY guitar is inspected and given a final set up by PRS in Maryland before it ships out to dealers, just to make sure these are on par with the Core models.
I am not surprized it is made in Indo, by Cor-tek. Some great guitars coming from Indo. I got a zemaitis vibe as soon as I saw this one. Regarding the shape, I mean. What do u think ?
I just bought myself one of these in antique white! (I’m going for the look of Jon Foreman’s Vice Verses guitar-I even ordered a black pickguard separately.) I’d been eyeing it literally for years before I finally pulled the trigger last week. Unfortunately, it arrived too late in the day for me to get a chance to play it. But I did unbox it, and I must say it’s such a beautiful instrument. I’ll definitely plug it in tomorrow after I get home from work. I’ll try to remember to update this comment with my impressions. Im in love with my custom 22, made me sound better. I see a difference when I play other guitars they dont feel as good. Played a fender strat and the action wasn't as good as my PRS. Just love it. Best purchase I've done well with my Pacifica too lol
There's a lot of good things I could say about a PRS, but for me, the pick ups usually sound just alright to me... this guitar on the other hand, has the best pick ups I've heard from an SE. I'm very impressed 👏
Hi Darell. I had one of these in green....beautifull pickups indeed. But i sold it. I didńt like the , kinda, bulky neck and the guitar, for me, wasń't so nice to hold. The look too..bit strangely, visually unbalanced body shape. After selling i'did miss the pickups which are vey special. So i ordered a pair of them from Indonesia through ebay and put them in a Yamaha Revstar i purchased as a B-stock. That guitar is stellar now! Thanks for the video.
@@JG-sherminator I've never played one, but I never cared for the body shape. Sounded pretty darn good to me. I know very little about guitars but you sounded pretty impressed with the quality so I’m taking your word for it. The cost doesn’t sound out of line at all considering what you’re get with your purchase. I just love the sound of any decent guitar with someone who can strum a few chords and looks like they know what they’re doing. People like Chet Atkins, Django Reinhardt, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Brian May and on and on. I just love the sound of a decent guitar in the hands of someone who can play. I can’t unfortunately.👍👍🇨🇦
This might be my favorite sounding PRS. Loved the clean humbucker tones. Just followed the link to check the price, and also nice, but it seems that others already have found them as they're currently out of stock at Sweetwater. Would be interesting to see how the neck feels if I can find one in my area. Thanks, as always!

I have one. Got it for about 400e. It was a bargain. Love it. Split coil is lovely. Wide fat neck is what I like. Super comfy. Buy one. You won’t regret
I recently got a vintage cherry Mira and at first I was like uh... Why do people like this? So I placed in on reverb. Within two days I took it off- the Mira and the Starla are extremely underrated and I think they give 24 and 22s a run for their money
Had a few PRS, including a Korean SE Singlecut 22, and wondered about the Indonesian Starla but never demoed one. Sounds even brighter than my 2008 SE SC 22, but maybe has a more unique, useable tone.
I wish that they offered a loaded Strat Pickguard with those pickups, caps and pots! I have an old Silvertone with a 9.5 radius and thick C neck. 25.5 scale with a plywood body. That would blow people’s minds, the rout take a pair of humbuckers. Why would I do that, so no one would steal those tones and my S- tone is supriisingly nice, the neck after a crown is amazing and that triple burst plywood body looks great and is really resonant. I can practice without even hooking up. I would do it in a heartbeat!
