Lucky you, you got the ticket. We had a viewing party at Marriott . I was impressed with Mexico and Peru as well . I have to agree, South Africa - best gown that night.
Glad your feeling better Dani, always look forward to your recaps, as your one of the most direct commentators who touches base on the interesting/behind the scene topics
The time used for Steve’s monologue could have been used to have 5 additional contestants compete in the swimsuit and evening gown competition! I also think instead of having a short interview with Steve when the top 20 is announce, show a clip of each girl’s closed door interview!
Steve Harvey has got to go. He’s about as funny as terrorism for crying out loud; and quite frankly folks want to see more of the girls. There’s no reason the competition needs to be three hours. Slicing Steve Harvey’s cringeworthy monologue would save an easy 10 to 15 minutes. This pageant has gone downhill...
I'm sorry Dani for my comments. Really love your channel. Are you still mad at me? I really like you and I am sorry for blurting things out and hurting your feelings. I'm really sorry. I love you.
Honestly I like the mini interactions that the contestants/delegates had with Steve Harvey after the announcement. It reminds me of the interview portion of the competition from waaaaay back in the 60's up to the mid 90's when the host used to have what was called a small "chat" with the contestants. What I didn't like is, like you said, it took too long, it completely dragged the whole show when that time could have been used for other segments. Also, interacting with the contestants during such a suspenseful moment such as the finalist announcement completely kills the vibe. I like your suggestion actually Dani, to include it after finishing the announcement and coming back from the commercial break. I just really hope that they don't remove it completely because this is the only chance we really get to see unrehearsed responses from the contestants based on their personalities. By the way good observation on the swimsuit competition portion. They seem to be rushing even more it year after year, do you maybe think this is because IMG is almost somewhat embarrassed of glamorising the swimsuit competition from all the backlash?
I agree, I don't mind the interactions as long as they don't drag. Nia mentioned that the contestants may have received their questions from Steve before the show, so they aren't actually candid. But that makes sense to me because some of the contestants, don't speak english as their native language and I understand how it would be difficult to come up with an entertaining answer on the spot. I think the swim rush is done to make room for all the back stage segments, and the hosting.
Second..Glad you are feeling better Dani..Thanks for the great review recap✌💥💘Request.please make an extended MU video of the pre-arrivals & extra content of the Top20.✌👍
I binged your channel last night and today at work everyone was commenting on how confident and happy I looked. Caught myself in the mirror and noticed I was pageant strutting and posing all over the office!
*_I agree with the announcing a top 20 semifinalist then right away do her opening statement. But after all top 20 announced, I want the 20 do their swimsuit. Then the top 10 will be announced with their short interview with steve, then top 10 on evening gown_*
So instead of that opening monologue from Steve Harvey...... They could have had the contestants individually strut down that stage and THEY have a moment ( similar to how they did it in 2017 before they announced the semifinalist). I felt that H shape stage was turned in the wrong direction.... I don't understand why they feel the need to cut the competition part of the show down..specifically swimsuit and evening gown....we the fans arnt complaining. We tune in for the ladies....not the host.....and while I love Ally who performed...can they land a A list performer...Geeeez. I felt USA was robbed of a top placement. MUO they've been doing this for years....I don't understand why they find it hard to get it right! SOUTH AFRICA....Simply STUNNING...SHE Looked like royalty when she hit that stage in gown. But in all I agree....We need to see more of the ladies.
I also did not like having a second interview question. The contestants are already nervous. Miss Universe pageant did not have to put more pressure on the contestants.
The topic of the questions to the top 5 seemed to be more western culturally and politically oriented, especially of the US. Those topics have been hotly debated in the news in the US. But those issues were not as prevalence in the east. In 2016, they asked Miss Kenya about Trump, last year they asked Miss Vietnam about Metoo and this year they asked miss Thailand about government-privacy-security. These topics were more about USA than the world
I love your channel. You should cover all other pageants (Miss Grand, Miss Earth, Miss International, Miss World, Miss Supranational, Miss Intercontinental) as well, not just Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss America. There may be girls across the globe who couldn't afford to have private pageant training but have to depend on vlogs on channels like yours. This channel could help many girls achieve their goals. For many girls in many countries, winning a pageant, although at a local or state level, could open a lot of doors for them.
I was surprised that Indonesia made the semi-finals. She didn't stand out for me. She's too short and she can't even speak fluent Indonesian. I guess getting trained with Lu Sierra really does help your chances of making the semi-finals. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

Thank you Dani for your compliment for Indonesia🇮🇩 which was Frederika was so stunning and perfect look in evening gown, but sadly she didn’t make it further, love from Indonesia❤️
Hello Dani! Well, this is the first time I will be leaving a comment here but I enjoy your videos so much. Honestly, as an audience, I don't think the Miss U stage wasn't that stunning, especially that you told in the previous video that you can't really see the candidates on stage. I also felt sad Gazini didn't advance any further but I feel proud as well. I don't have hard feelings on Queen Zozi's win, I totally love her. P.S. I don't think you remember this but you followed me on IG for a day or two I guess and you unfollowed me afterwards. Even so, I am so thankful that happened. Love youu
I thought she would have advanced further too. That was a shock of the night for me. I mentioned that in the vlog. I was so surprised not to see her up there
@@DaniWalker I know. I was watching with my classmates in school via live streaming and once PH was not called into the Top 10, we literally turned off our phone. No exaggerations, most Filipinos turned off their TV's when Gazini was not called. But we love the winner now, she's incredibly stunning!
Dani: I think Gregg Gelfand directed the show. On the show itself, I felt bad for Miss USA again. It is the third time in four years, that we didn't get out of the swimsuit/evening gown portion. I was also wondering if you can a Miss World 2019 video. There was a lot of buzz after Jamaica won, and Kenya's reaction. Thank you.
Loved the gown segment. Also loved the swimsuit. Miss France had the best physique. Miss South Africa spoke really well. Miss Iceland was the most elegant. In terms of natural beauty, I think I just love South American women. They just seem to have that tall majestic body that matches their beauty. Miss Brazil, Miss Argentina, Miss Colombia were really hot.
Hi Dani, Will done as always!! I was disappointed with the quality of the pageant production. It seemed like it was thrown together and that the contestants were an after thought. MUO announced the location and date late and maybe their first venue fell through. Also camera angles should be worked out in rehearsal.
I wasn't a fan of south africa in the prelims but finals night she was hands down the best talker and Walker she is my favorite miss universe of all time I was blown away and how you speak was just amazing but I was rooting for puerto rico but her answers for the questions was just a bit lacking My prelims predictions I got only 1 wrong and I felt like venezuela and india should of been top 10 for me personally
Brandon Forest I love her but also loved Puerto Rico. She exceeded my expectations in prelims. I knew she’d do well but I loooved her. Only one wrong in predictions? You need to post them 😄
The Sherri Hill curse definitely continued with USA- she would’ve given South Africa 🇿🇦 a run 🏃♀️ for her money in the Q&A portion. And this is my most unbiased opinion as a South African.
On that note of your topics coming from a shortlist, is the thing they did where the Top 5 questions are "asked" by their fellow contestants (at Miss USA, anyway) just for show and the questions are in actuality written by MUO?
My year we wrote them. It was funny because they sprung that on us, so many of our questions were similar. They had to have us rewrite new questions. They asked each contestant to write three questions.
I think Steve is a really personable guy, but almost too personable for this show. I felt like I paid attention to him a little more than the contestants. The production should be a serious with mad respect for these women making it so far in their journey!
A three hour telecast and half of it was filler. Look at the pageants in the 1990s. Two hours time and they fit the opening number in national costumes, parade of nations, call the semifinalists, three semifinals competition, a top 6 segment, final 3 question... this is just bad time management. There is no reason not to have all 20 semifinalists compete in both swimsuit and evening gown and call in a top 6 and then narrow it down to a top 3.
@@DaniWalker , I think the pageant (now called "competition" but when it walked, looked and quacked like a duck, you know what to call it) have forgotten that people tune in to see the contestants, especially the ones from their respective countries, to actually compete for the title, not listen to bad jokes, or see them arbitrarily cut out of the running based on a 20 second statement.
Glad to see you feel better. I have to agree with your comments. The venue was so small that the only way to really appreciate the show was if you were seated in the front seats behind the judges. Considering the amount of money of the resale ticket, the arrangement of the sections was awful. Whoever chose the venue, didn't think about the audience. Before the show started, the middle section was asked to hide any flags or posters, so Steve Harvey could "read" the teleprompter . I think it turned off the audience energy and excitement. They should have let people wave their flags. About the host, I think it is time to get a new one. What about Nia Sanchez? Olivia Culpo? Can YOU be the backstage commentator? It was not funny to pretend that Miss Philippines won the national costume competition when clearly it was 'staged". The joke is old. We all know that he didn't follow the script. Colombia's joke about the cartel? Not funny. Get new writers! The 20 semifinalists deserve more time on stage. I don't like the selection based on geographic areas. It is supposed to give more fair chances to other countries, but in the 5 years of IMG 2 winners are from the Philippines and 2 from South Africa ( all well deserved though). The best 20 misses should enter the final round and compete in swimsuit. The one minute speech is not enough. The pageant is to enjoy the misses' hard work , stage presence, catwalk, and eloquence. It was a 3 hour show!!!! (but it felt like 45 minutes). Thank you for your comments. Love what you said about PERU!!!
They should have raised the stage, judges and the teleprompter so everyone could wave the flags they brought and paid for. Ohhh I'd love to commentate on the show. Philippines did win, but since she was in the top 20, they brought out Malaysia. That should have been edited in the script. MU came out and confirmed that Philippines was the winner after the show. Steve wasn't reading directly from the teleprompter. He was winging a lot of the show. Thanks so much for all your input :D
MUO came for MAO's throat with this production. They showed that you can showcase a contestants platform/ social impact message while still keeping to the traditional pageant aspects (we can save that for another comment bc there is a lot more that goes into my thoughts there). The opening monologue was a little long but I think maybe it was for more filler since there wasn't a traditional opening number "production" if that makes sense. Swim- I feel like the print swim and then having a print cape really got distracting. I feel like a solid color swimsuit would have def been a better choice and hopefully they do that moving forward. the competition segments really seemed rushed which may have been a result of the top 20 taking FOREVER.
I think a solid swimsuit would have looked great too. They already have the top 20 results at the top of the show, so I'm not sure why It'd have taken longer.
I absolutely agree with you. We want to see the girls; It is Miss Universe not Steve's show. Miss Grand has top 20 swimsuits competition and it takes about 13 minutes. I do not like the direction MU is going; why was Steve give more time than the contestants? it baffles me. I cannot believe that Miss Grand actually has a better stage than MU.
Glad you’re feeling better. There are so many things to comment on, as this year’s was a disaster in my opinion. My primary objection is the de-emphasis of physical beauty! It’s turned into a virtue signaling competition. It feels like they’re looking for the next UN Secretary General, not Miss Universe.
AND THATS THE ESSENCE OF BEAUTY . THE ARE LOOKING FOR SOME WHO HAS INCREDIBLE SPEAKING SKILLS. IF U DONT LIKE IT . THATS UP TO U , BECAUSE U DONT HAVE A 5 MILLION CROWN TO PUT ON THE DESERVING CONTENDER. SO MOVE ON . BECAUSE LIFE IS CHANGING OVER THE COURSE OF EVERY DECADE
From the beginning of the show have almost millions of viewers but in top ten when Philippines didn't called in top 10 viewers decrease to hundreds 😂😂😂😂funny Filipino fans..
Less of Steve No opening statements Just do more swim n gowns My favorite was Madison Anderson👑 Peru was beautiful I wish it would had been Peru n PR in the final 2👑
Venus Hahn why was Puerto Rico your favorite? I thought top 10 placement was too high for her let alone top 2. Everyone who watched the pageant live said Puerto Rico did not wow them and they didn’t have her in their top. Not to mention her face was not as beautiful as the other contestants in the top 5. I was confused as to how she got there
I really like Madison because she reminds me of myself Because I was born in CR and when I did a pageant in the States everyone welcomed me into the sisterhood and I made so many great friends. And yes at times my English is not the best but that’s ok And neither as my Spanish😳 Because I was adopted by a German family so I feel like I’m a little part of all💕💕💕
I did not enjoy the start of Miss Universe because I felt Steve Harvey spoke too long. However it ended well. Your right. The camera angles of the contestants should have been better. I also felt they should have played better music. Very disappointed in the choice of music.
I think people like you and shedi finesee sussie miss usa 2003 &04 would make much better host than Steve Harvey because you guys know what pageant fans want to see in the show hopefully MUO members watch your videos and consider these suggestions
I think it would have been better if the H-Shaped stage would have been built vertically towards the audiences and not placed horizontally.... To see the girls move closer and closer and closer would have had more impact if you'd ask me...😊😊😊😊😊😊👑👑👑👑👑👑

@@DaniWalker your guess is as good as anyones. I mean...i guess they gotta get them commericals in
I absolutely agree with you.
Oh really! I didn't see my Grand or their stage. That's interesting.
Mabuhay!
I love you too dani😘
I didn't understood why colombia did make top 5, no offense but other contestants are more amazing
Glad you’re feeling better.
There are so many things to comment on, as this year’s was a disaster in my opinion. My primary objection is the de-emphasis of physical beauty! It’s turned into a virtue signaling competition. It feels like they’re looking for the next UN Secretary General, not Miss Universe.
haha the next UN Secretary lol
Less of Steve
No opening statements
Just do more swim n gowns
My favorite was Madison Anderson👑
Peru was beautiful
I wish it would had been Peru n PR in the final 2👑
I like the opening statements. But Steve they should just get rid off
Venus Hahn why was Puerto Rico your favorite? I thought top 10 placement was too high for her let alone top 2. Everyone who watched the pageant live said Puerto Rico did not wow them and they didn’t have her in their top. Not to mention her face was not as beautiful as the other contestants in the top 5. I was confused as to how she got there
I don't mind the opening statements, if they moved faster.
Really? After I saw her in prelims, I had her in my top 5. She really seemed to fight for that spot.
I really like Madison because she reminds me of myself
Because I was born in CR and when I did a pageant in the States everyone welcomed me into the sisterhood and I made so many great friends.
And yes at times my English is not the best but that’s ok
And neither as my Spanish😳
Because I was adopted by a German family so I feel like I’m a little part of all💕💕💕
I did not enjoy the start of Miss Universe because I felt Steve Harvey spoke too long. However it ended well. Your right. The camera angles of the contestants should have been better. I also felt they should have played better music. Very disappointed in the choice of music.
Queeni Walker 💓
Babak Sanei ☺️
Miss Universe
I see you :)
Love from Thailand 😍🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
Thanks!! Loved visiting you country. Can't wait until I can return.
Dani Walker cant wait to see u in Thailand again ^^
I don’t know but I like it when girls do the casual interview with Steve Harvey than “opening statement”.
I'd like it if the show progressed faster. The interactions with him appeared to drag on.
I think people like you and shedi finesee sussie miss usa 2003 &04 would make much better host than Steve Harvey because you guys know what pageant fans want to see in the show hopefully MUO members watch your videos and consider these suggestions
Mrworld wouldn’t that be a Christmas miracle 🙏🏼☺️
@@DaniWalker that would be a pageant+Christmas miracle 🎁😊
I think it would have been better if the H-Shaped stage would have been built vertically towards the audiences and not placed horizontally.... To see the girls move closer and closer and closer would have had more impact if you'd ask me...😊😊😊😊😊😊👑👑👑👑👑👑
Yes, I'd love to have seen that change for the show.
💚💚💚💚💚
Thanks for the love
