THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your kind comments. I love hearing what you think about the show, and I appreciate all the info you're sharing about that pageant, that I didn't know about. What pageant should I recap next?
I got to attend this pageant and watched it live, it was absolutely spectacular! Everything about the night, from the red carpet, to the sashes they gifted every guest and right down to the production, every single moment was inspirational and breathtaking. The host is Bonang Matheba, she styled herself for the pageant this year and looked even more beautiful in person. The pageant experienced some drastic changes this year, and we all waited with baited breath to see how the brand would be affected, but the team clearly did an amazing job. SA is a really strong contender, and I see Zozibini (pronounced Zo-zee-bee-nee) bringing another her country another Top5 placement. Thanks for this recap, loved how sweet and honest you were ❤️
Thank you for all this info!!! Gosh that sounds amazing. They gifted everyone a sash?!?!?! I totally want to see! (Thanks for the pronunciation help. Wish you were there when I was filming lol)
I loved your video!! Zozibini truly deserved the win. She looked stunning on stage and from what I know she was one of the contestants with the most pageant experience. She's a smart lady and is currently doing great in her reign. Sasha Lee is our 1st runner up and she will compete in Miss World. Those were the only two placements this year there was no second princess and so on. Zozi also in my opinion answered both questions the best... (the top 5 was asked different questions and then the top 2 asked the same questions hence the headphones) loved that you loved the host as well she's extraordinary and currently is a correspondent/presenter for E! Africa she's really good.
Oh wow, two questions! I wish I'd been able to hear everyone's answer. I didn't realize that they crowned 2 titles! That's wonderful! I wish Sasha Lee the best! I'm not surprised she's an E! host now that you say that. She's so fun. I love her.
@@DaniWalker Bonang is mega famous in South Africa and has a huge personality that can overshadow anyone. A much-loved personality... and beautiful in her own right.
Am I the only one who wanted this recap to keep going? Wow I have watched many videos but this was just so honest, and so engaging. Thank you Dani and well done on your recap. Loved it. The host is Bonang Matheba. I also do not have enough words to describe just how fabulous she is. At some point, I even tweeted that she would be an awesome Miss Universe host. She is amazing. Its so funny that Americans struggle with our names so much but you will find that for the most part, you are on the right track with your pronunciation. So please go easy on yourself :-) I agree with everything you mentioned. In my recap, I also talked about the opening, that host, Miss Universe being on stage, The evening gown competition and just the overall production which was world class. No it was not coincidence that the pageant was held on Woman's Day. The whole woman empowerment theme had been the common thread leading up to the pageant. As much as I liked that theme, I am not a fan of an all female judging panel. This was also Zozi's 2nd attempt at the pageant. She entered in 2017 and made it to the top 32. That's the year Demi Leigh won. In her interviews she does mention the hair, and she wants people to know that she is more than just her hair and that she had decided to go with this look 2 years ago. Once again Dani you are just so amazing and I love watching your videos. Keep shining, -)
WOW, thank you for your generous compliments!! (I just followed Bonang) You're so right, she'd be an excellent Miss Universe host!!!! I'd tune in for that. Thank you for that info too. I didn't realize the contestants could compete for multiple years. In the past you said they had a top 32. Do you know how the contestants reached the national stage? Where did you find the gown comp? I couldn't find it.
@@DaniWalker Hi Dani, You are so welcome :-). Yes the contestants are allowed to compete again, provided they do not reach the top 2. Please pardon me about the top 32 comment, Zozi was actually in the top 26 in 2017. What used to happen was, the Miss SA Organization would stage small regional competitions around the country - Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth - sort of like state pageants in the US. Women from those cities would enter there. The regional judges will then pick a number of regional qualifiers. That group would then be flown to Johannesburg for another round of judging and then a top 26 or a top 32 would then be called the semi finalists. Those selected will then undergo a series of workshops and stuff and then at a later date would compete again for one of the 12 spots to become finalists ( to compete at the nationals for the televised event.) This year they did things differently and did away with the regionals, instead opened the entries online. From the online entries, a separate panel chose the 32 women from all over the country. These 32 were then flown to Johannesburg to undergo judging which included a swimsuit round and interviews. The public did not know who the top 32 were and the contestants also signed NDA for this. That panel then selected the top 16 finalists who will compete for the crown on a national stage. Like I said, in the past they had 12 and this year that number increased to 16. Then as you know, the 16 were then officially announced to the public during a press conference on the 26th June this year and awarded their Miss SA 2019 Finalist sashes. These 16 then got judged by a different panel which we saw on the finals. I watched the pageant as it aired here in SA so that is how I saw the EG competition but I'll send you the clip of Zozi in her EG.
Thank you!! What's funny is I don't notice my own attention to detail, but I believe my perspective comes from directing pageants, hosting, working for them, and of course competing. I've seen the good and the bad, from all angles. What's something new you noticed about the show? I'm so curious about your perspective.
Feeling it!!! Love Bonang!!!!....I personally would love "Miss Universe 2020 or 2021" to be in South Africa so that Bonang can host the preliminary!!! But all in all, really really loving how the organization represents themselves!!
Great review of our national pageant....it was simply awesome to watch, I was watching on the telly...Funny enough, I saw Zozibini's pic circulating on Facebook 3 months before the finals and I said "Oh well this one is our winner this year" like literally so.....
Pageant aspirants in the USA, hire this woman! She's a certified beauty queen and such a great coach who's attention to details are always on point! Queen Dani, I'm so proud of you enlarging your pageant territory when it comes to recaps. You have such a brilliant mind and I'm prophesying that you will become a national director for Miss USA someday. The Miss SA prizes were insane outdoing Miss Universe's, from the winner's beautiful living quarters, a convertible Mercedes Benz to almost $200,000 in monetary reward. Paging Paula Shugart 😂😆😋. Much love to you Queen Dani, stay blessed, hugs from Los Angeles 🇺🇸👸🏼🌹
Queen Dani Walker, the Miss South Africa 2019 pageant was fabulous! From the stage, the host, the guest performer, the selection committee, to these cream of the crop local delegates' performances - spectacular! They can host the #MissUniverse pageant anytime. As far as Zozibini as their representative, with that short hair, she reminds me of Flaviana Matata, a semi finalist at the 2007 edition where Japan won the title in Mexico. She's a contender for the crown. 😘🌹 I would love to see you do a recap for Miss Canada, Miss Colombia and Miss France! Much love to you always. 🇺🇸👸🏼🌹thank you.
Yes on the 90 tv show, spot on! Great recap as always. Curious if you have any plans on doing a follow up video on the lastest craziness in Miss America, you just have such great insights on the direction pageants should go in.
OMG! Loved the stage, loved the hosts and how well groomed they were. The production was amazing. It most definitely reminded me of Miss Universe. I wish Miss USA had more commercials and sponsors to be apart of. I've been told that in America in order to get sponsors in the way international pageants have, we as a country have to show more interest and become more excited. I.E. for foreign countries, a miss Universe can become an icon in the country for America that doesn't happen anymore. WE can get back to it but our local communities need to become more excited and go back to households knowing the names of Miss USA and Miss Universe title holders. I feel like those Americans who get excited and know the names are a small majority. But would love to see a Miss USA contestant do a commercial for a major US brand. Would bring the golden age of Miss USA back.
I've heard the host, Bonang, styled herself for the show!!! I can understand that, but without a great show, how will you get more people interested? It's a catch 22.

Hi Dani, thank you for your kind and very review of our pageant. We truly worked incredibly hard to put on the best production we possibly could. Our prensenter is Bonang Matheba who is one of the most popular celebrities and hosts in our country! She's fabulous and hosted last year as well. The opening no. Was performed by Amanda Black and the song was specifically written for the pageant. The opening statement by the girls was actually inspired by Michael Jackson' Black&white video(to showcase the diversity of our women) It was no coincidence that Miss SA was held on Women's day in South Africa as we consider this the premier platform to empower women in our country, also why we decided on celebrating women by having an all female judging panel. Our winner Zozi competed in 2017 with a weave but afterwards cut her hair because she felt like it was a true representation of who she is. She actually inspired numerous South African women to cut their hair and wear it natural after being crowned as our country's most beautiful. After the top 5 were announced, They each answered a separate question given by each of the judges to determine our Top 2. Sasha and Zozi who then went head to head in a final question asked by our presenter.👑 I'm excited for you to see how Zozi competes at Universe, we're coming guns blazing!!!🔥🔥🔥

Also I'm still frustrated about the late announcements for host cities for pageants I miss the days where we know where the next pageant will be held on finals night. Hey Dani. I have a question! I have a pageant on Sunday and I'm super nervous. But I have a problem. My dress is slightly long, so I was wondering if it's okay to hold my dress while I walk? 🤔
Announcing Top 5 from backstage is a very "Miss World" tradition and also the way Miss SA announces the two runner-ups is also from Miss World format. Don't forget that Miss SA traditionally went to Miss World not Miss Universe. Only in the late 90s did Miss SA start sending representatives to Miss Universe.
I can’t list on all of the things that I agree on, cos thre’s so manyy😂 but wht I can say is that, Im agreeing to the whole statement that u gave in this vid👍🏼

oh, I'm going to have to watch then!
Hey Dani. I have a question!
I have a pageant on Sunday and I'm super nervous. But I have a problem. My dress is slightly long, so I was wondering if it's okay to hold my dress while I walk? 🤔
Wear a taller heel if you can or run to the tailor. You have time, right now. Never hold up your gown.
Feeling it❤️
Same
Announcing Top 5 from backstage is a very "Miss World" tradition and also the way Miss SA announces the two runner-ups is also from Miss World format. Don't forget that Miss SA traditionally went to Miss World not Miss Universe. Only in the late 90s did Miss SA start sending representatives to Miss Universe.
Ohhh thanks for sharing that history :D
I can’t list on all of the things that I agree on, cos thre’s so manyy😂

Hi D I guess the channel MHD Live owns the right to the whole full show and has decided to withhold it for public viewing. Couldn't find it also.
