- DHD Mini Twin Fin Review - WOOLY TV #20
Wooly weighs 87kg/192lb and is 6'1/187cm tall
Wooly is riding a 6'1 x 21" x 2 1/2" - 37l
The DHD Mini Twin is your perfect summer groveler for waves 1 - 4ft.
From punchy beach breaks to down the line point breaks, the Mini Twin is made for speed and big drawn out turns. This board comes in smaller sizes for the groms and also bigger sizes for guys like Wooly who still want to rip on a twin fin.

Great review. Working hard to keep us informed! I think your surfing has improved markedly over the reviews and changing your equipment and also your mindset to how you want to surf on a particular board. You now ride it to the boards characteristics, and are much more in tune with the boards, rather than fighting with them. It would be interesting to revisit some of your previous boards with a new perspective.
It is very difficult to change equipment and maintain a high level of performance, but you are doing it well.
I think you could like the hydroshort [and others] more now than you did.
Keep em coming.
Thanks Evo Maniac. Yeah I was very lucky to have some great waves on the mini twin so I think it took me less time to adjust to the board. Stay tuned plenty more coming through........
Wooly, Just watched the Phoenix review and then this one. Felt like you nailed it on the Phoenix but this mini twin, Dude a grab rail and the flow coming outta your surfing was bloody EPIC!!!!!!! Great review man, frothing hard.....
Glad you enjoyed it
Yeeewwwwww
I thought you handled the twinny very well on your back hand mate. This was some of the funnest surfing iv seen so far in the series. loved the grab rail carve and seeing ya take a walk up the deck

Cheers mate
great review mate, I was happy to see you went up in literage for this board, that's how I 'd run something like this too. Nice footage and editing also, yeeew!!
Thanks mate!
Great reviews, especially for surfers like me. Very informative and practical
Thanks mate, glad you liked it.
Sick review wooly! Well done on the vid too Dylan!
Thanks mate!
Cool review, cheers mate ✌🏻 I'm riding this board in 5'5" for the last 3-4 years, had in in Eastern suburbs, later in Portugal and then in Baltic beach breaks. I love that board, it's speed and how much fun it gives. Worked recently best with AMT fins, but i bought it with Rasta Keels and I reckon they will be great for some point brakes for longer turns and better drive.
Thanks mate! Yeah I had a great time on that board
It's quite a versitile board and can handle a decent wave as well as different style of fins. Lots of foam pushed up front and full rails forward so it's pretty easy to catch waves on it and a refined tail making it easy to turn. Wish I still had mine!
Yeah I would have to agree with you there! Im sure we can organise you another one 👍

Yewww
Sick!!! That left looked like so much fun. I'm frothing!!!
Thanks mate. Yeeeeeewwwww
Sick board, nice graphics
Thanks
That board looks the business!
Yeah it was good fun and Im really glad I beefed up the volume.
@@WoolyTV definitely looked good on the little darlin wool dogs 👌🏽
Epic mate,
Love ya content. What did you prefer overall? Mini Twin or Black Barron?
Cheers
Really hard as they are very different boards. Mini Twin a little more of a cruiser and the Black Baron is more high performance. Really depends what you are chasing.
Hey Wooly ! curious, did you run a straight edge under the bottom ? Website site says single to double to V. I just got one and it feels more like roll entry to single under front to vee out through the tail. I don’t see really any double. Just curious to hear what folks are really feeling in the concaves compared to the website ...
Yeah I did run a straight edge over mine, pretty sure it had a slight forward vee into single to double concave and a good amount of vee through the fins and out the tail.
Sick, thanks for that review! I would have loved to have your opinion on the mini twin 2 as I just grabbed one at 5'11" 37.5 liters! How do you think they compare?
Hi mate,
Sorry I haven't ridden one of the MT2. I have seen one but haven't got my hands on a demo as yet.
what did you think of it? how much do you weigh?
Good review but should have tried with keel fins. They are made for them.
I still have this board kicking around so I will give them a go.
My son did your surf groms program
I hope he enjoyed it!!! Yeeewwwwww
Would you also you it in a fast-closing beachbreak or it’s more of a point break board? Thanks! 🤙🤙🤙
I think this one is better suited to a slower wave or a point break.
@@WoolyTV thanks, I appreciate it!
Yewwwww
Yeeeeeeewwwwwwwww
@@WoolyTV I’m Fraser that one comes in to the shop when I need something
big baron, black baron or dhd mini for small wave? more speed? thank you mate
Hi mate. I would think the Black Baton would be the fastest in small waves. I found the Big Baron to be best when the surf gets a little bigger.
thanks mate
Stick your audio to mono. Itll balance better ;)
When editing?
@@WoolyTV yeah . It seems you’ve a stereo mic mic. So when u turn your head your voice is moving from left to the right speaker. If your using Final Cut Pro, the pan section will let your turn it to mono. It’ll give you a stronger more direct vocal edit 😉
@@RyanVailMusic Great, thanks for the advice, I will let the brains of the operation know @dylan james o'brien
I'm 5'10 and 177lb
How many board liters do you recommend?
Whats your 'normal' shortboard?
@@WoolyTV 5'11 29,5 L
@@lucasmzzo Hi mate, it really depends on the waves you are riding, your ability and your paddling fitness. If you are a good surfer, who surfs good waves and have above average fitness then you should be able to ride 29 - 31L at your weight. If the 5'11" is your standard shortboard then you could go up a little bit in volume if you wanted the Mini Twin to perform better in smaller surf. I went up around 3 - 4 L on this one and it was fun.
Hope that helps
have you ridden the mini 2?
Not yet!
I got one its one of the best I've ever ridden
Dancin' on water ........
Cheers, I had fun on the mini twin
It's too long. You should be on the 5'10" or the 5'11" with keel fins.
Thanks for your input
