    Had a flip belt for over two years to carry gels keys phone at time and water and personally think it’s fantastic bit of kit 🏃🏾‍♂️👍 tip I wear it with bottle at the front & have NEVER lost or dropped anything.

    I don't carry water in my flipbelt but it holds my keys, phone, gels, etc with no problems at all. I absolutely love it. I just bought a second one so I could alternate on these steamy (sweaty) summer runs.
    You listed the same reasons why I don't carry water in there. I carry my water in a hand bottle and just modify my route to go by public water fountains so I can top off.

    Just recently purchased the "classic" version. I've used to carry the same 11 oz. bottle you used and to carry my phone. For me, carrying the water bottle in the front and phone in the back, has been solid. Easy to access the bottle on the run with it in the front and no issues with security with the phone either (Samsung S21). I think I'll end up using for runs up to 10K or so and anything longer I'll go to my running vest in order to carry more hydration.

    Thanks for your belt investigations. I hope you do wrap up looking into all your findings once you done. I use of flip belt from time to time and when I don't flip it to help secure it I have had a water bottle fall out. I tend to use the flip belt with a hand held to carry a little more water but not enough that I would need to wear a vest. I have also used it with my belt lame (I put it in the flip belt up front) and a water bottle on the back of the belt. I have had less chaffing issue with this belt vs a ultimate direction belt I have.

    I have a flip belt zipper - I wear it very low and tight around my hips so it is stretched to the max and I have never lost anything out of the non zipped slit parts. I, personally, wouldn't want all compartments zippered because I like to push tissue in and out, I push snacks in and out. I can't wait to try to jam a water bottle in there! Thanks for the great scenery.

    what a coincidence. i just got a second flipbelt elite and a flipbelt mini wallet to keep items dry inside the flipbelt. even though the zipper pocket is supposed to be waterproof, perspiration always finds its way in. the mini wallet is handy when i’m not running and keeps it tethered with that mini carabiner. my first elite i’ve had for years. it’s great for traveling as well. love you can zipper it on after wrapping it around the waist. i still keep my phone in my pocket to minimise bounce.

    I use salomon soft flasks with my flipbelt and haven't had any problems with the bottle slipping out, might be worth a try instead of the flipbelt bottle. Only downside is I usually have to move the belt around my body to get the bottle out from the back pocket bit but other than that seems to work well.

    I love using my Flipbelt for short to medium long runs. Great for my phone, keys and 3 or 4 gels. For longer runs I bought a Compressport Free Belt Pro which has a massive capacity. Phone, keys, gels, rain jacket and probably more fit in quite easily and comfortably. It also has loops at the back for running poles which I needed.

    • @iblackfeathers
      @iblackfeathers 3 года назад +1

      the compressport free belt pro - that’s a really cool belt. i would imagine the pole carriers in the back could also be used to carry his insta360 pole when not in use. to be able to carry a rainjacket is a great option for those times you’re not sure about the weather. i may consider one later on, as i just bought a second flipbelt elite. thanks for the info.

    The trick with the water bottle is to keep it as close to the the front zipper pouch as possible. I put it in either side pouch with the nozzle sticking outside the pouch towards the front. You just need to make sure the pouch opening flap is secured over the front edge of the bottle so it can't slide forward. Doing this can fit a bottle on each side. I regularly use the two bottles and Path Projects shorts for long runs since the shorts and flipbelt together have enough separated spaces for securing things.

    Another vote for the naked belt here, love mine, inhaler, water, phone, even got loops for poles (only used that for a jacket myself mind) and other various bits, important to get size correct though, I’ve lost a little weight since I bought mine, and whilst I’ve never lost anything, if it’s got heavier items (500ml soft flask for instance) it does bounce a little more than it used to.

    I use the Compressport belt and I'm surprised how well everything sits in.
    There are no separations and no zip pockets 😕 but it's so packable - jacket, shirt, food, bottle, gels and phone.
    The other good belt - Salomon.
    one zip pocket to keep the phone ...and just one small opening to stuff all other items. Not bad, never lost a bottle or keys (fixed to a ring) 👍

    I absolutely agree that there needs to be a Flip Belt featuring Zippers only. I purchased the Nathan Zipster as it has one zipper on the front and another zipper on the back (perfect for Half Marathons). I plan to use the Flip Belt only for the easy runs (5K's and 10K's). I have the Hydration Vest for Marathons only. I can't stand handheld bottles, has an influence on center of gravity. :)

    Get the adjustable flip belt zipper, its slightly narrower in width. The slits in the back are in different position compared to the regular zipper version. I found that with the long bottle perfectly centered on my back and how the slits are positioned, one side of the bottle is nowhere near the slit and the other side (nozzle side) can be pushed past the slit and anchored on the other side.
    With the narrower width and how the slits are positioned i've never had the bottle slip out. I returned the original non adjustable version because i had the same problems as you, the bottle kept falling out.

  • @wengezhu1

    I had the original fipblet but unfortunately one day I lost my home key after one run. The clip that connects to the key ring detached within days of usage, that in part contributes to the key being lost while running. Because of that, I changed the lock in my home to a smart one which I can unlock with my fingerprint. Now I am no longer using the flipbelt. The zipper version would be a nice remedy for the unsecured little things. Other waist packs I tried are Anonijie coming with a soft water bottle and SPIblet. Those two are much lighter, Anonijie is like a lightweight version of flipbelt and is much cheaper, lots of people may get interested. SPIbelt is great to carry just one item (may plus a key) but without any issue of being too warm or moving up in running.

  • @noobei164
    @noobei164 3 года назад

    Have you tried the naked waist belt? It’s been my go to for regular long runs and can carry two soft flasks if I need to though I generally take only one. Additionally carry a couple of gels, wallet, phone and keys and if weather looks poor swap one soft flask for a jacket instead. Hasn’t lost the elasticity/stiffness over the past 2 years now

  • @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183
    @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 3 года назад

    I’ve never had anything fall out of my original Flipbelt. Gels are slippery but they stay in for me, and the key clip is intact after many uses and washings. Likewise my phone never moves. I used to put it in the small of my back on the belt, but now I favor pants with those deep phone pockets for the phone. The downside I guess is that one leg is carrying the phone but I doubt that causes any bio-mechanical issues. I bought a small Flipbelt flask recently but haven’t tried it yet. I use the SpiBelt for short runs when I don’t need water and just want to carry small things. It came with race bib hangers which I love because who wants to snag their nice tech tops with safety pins? For very long runs I love my Nathan belt with 2 9 Oz flasks. They gave it to me for free when I asked for replacement bottle tops on an old belt for which they no longer have the old bottle tops. That’s called customer service and backing your product! The newer one sits perfectly and doesn’t rotate around (the old one did a bit), the bottles don’t leak at all, and it’s very light. It also has a generous zipper compartment that holds the phone, several large gels, key and more.

    Oh man my FlipBelt Elite with the water bottle literally arrived an hour ago. If i’d seen this review earlier I probably wouldn’t have ordered it. 😅 My main reason for ordering was the potential water bottle solution as well. I’ve been using the “Zipper” version for a few years and absolutely love it. Got the Elite only because I was ordering the bottle and thought I’ll checkout the new belt too. Maybe it will be better than the “Zipper” in holding that bottle? I can hope… the arrangement looks a little different, with only 2 slits as opposed to the 3 on the “Zipper” model. Will test it out on tomorrow’s run. 🤞

    Try keeping the nozzle poking out the slit then the collar of the bottle seems to lock into the opening. When you shove it fully in it tends to come out over time. My experience anyway. I just don't like running with something around the waist I tend to get a sore back on extra long runs.

  • @flameace

    Problem with zipper pockets is that they can't be elastic...
    Compressport free belt pro is probably the best belt for big capacity without bounce, bit hot though. Salomon pulse belt is kind of ok, but it feels bit stupid that there is only one opening to that giant pocket - but it still works surprisingly well, and material is breathable.
    There's some research (not related to running) pointing that wearing tight belt causes anterior pelvic tilt... There's also some weak infromation that wearing tight belt might also restrict movement and core muscle usage, cause stomach issues and even restrict circulation to lower body. More you carry, tighter the belt needs to be. I watched bit of western states 100 miler and noticed many handhelds and not so many waistbelts.. Maybe use of handhelds makes you better runner than use of waistbelts? Or maybe not - too hazy.
    At least evolution made human body good for endurance running and hands great for carrying stuff, so it's kind of logical to use hands for carrying stuff while running.

    once your stuff is in the belt, you actually have to flip the belt so your stuff won't fall, like shown in this video: ruclips.net/video/T0k-aDM_T-g/видео.html

    It's been said before, but Naked band is great. I can fit two of these (hydrapak.com/products/ultra-flask-500-ml), my phone and a couple of gels in it.

      The Naked belt really is the best belt that I have tried. I have not tried their vest yet, but I'm interested.

      Let's see how many Kofuzi tries before figuring this out :)

      @@vkoivula I am enjoying seeing him go through all the others though - reinforces that I made the right choice :)

      @@adrianbjones haha! I tried few brands before Naked and they were either awful or bad in storage capacity :)

      adding another +1 for the Naked band. Definitely important to get the sizing correct; I think I erred on the side of being too tight, which I've been pretty happy with since it barely moves around at all even with 2 500mL hydrapaks inside (plus phone, keys, etc)
