  • Is the flip belt the running storage solution? Particularly for races? While it doesn't have the storage capacity of a hydration vest it offers a strong solution to your race day running needs. Here's what I think if it and how it works.

    My flipbelt is the best bit of kit I've ever bought. Bought the large originally but when loaded with gels on a race it fell down and I spent most of the race trying to keep it up till I had used the gels (I had lost a bit of weight through training 😂) so I bought another one in medium . Brilliant bit of running gear

      Yep couldn’t agree more. Love my belt and wouldn’t leave home without it! Although I really don’t want to leave home today regardless!! Weather is atrocious 😂

    Great vid. "In the field" reviews are more useful to me than all the technical bumph.
    I have a similar style belt I bought in Argos . It was £6 on offer, and at that price was an absolute steal. It probably doesn't hold as much as a flip belt appears to, but certainly phone, keys and gels.

      Good to know! And thanks Mark. Trying to workout what to review next. Maybe my hydration vest!

    I'm glad that you ultimately decided to make this video, it's paid off. Because I've been actually thinking about buying a Flipbelt very recently! So thank you for making this very informative video.
    Do experiment and make different types of videos as you like. You never know what people will want to see, and there's always a good chance you'll end up garnering more people to watch your videos.
    Also LOL at the modesty filter, good stuff man.

    I have a flip belt and can’t speak highly enough of it. I’ve never suffered from the riding up and like you haven’t lost anything from it either. One of my most reliable go to pieces of kit.

    Great review.! Flip belt is so good that you barely notice when using it! But have recently bought the Decathlon Evadict shorts which have great pockets and storage, quite reasonable too.

    I have 2 of these, bought because of your experience in Seville. 2 different sizes and the smaller one can ride up a bit and the bigger one down a bit when there's too much in it. So you are right that getting the right size for you is key but I find that how much you're trying to carry can then vary that a touch. Overall though, I love mine and would not be without it now, I have the no zip version so just 4 entry points all the way round and I have never lost a thing, it has a nice little clip inside one side for keys.

    Great review thanks , considering this belt for the forthcoming Chicago Marathon, does running a marathon with the phone in it cause any rubbing or bruising on your back?

    This flipbelt is awesome! It stays on and doesn't move around at all even with a heavy phone. Although I wish I got the one with zip.

    Great video. I don't run but just need a good way to keep my phone with me so I don't keep losing it in the house. Is this the best product for me or is there a better option? (My phone is an iphone 8plus so it it's big.)

    Hmm.. How would a flipbelt do at the gym where you are doing different kinds of exercises? I could imagine it would fiddle its way up during squats or deadlifts.

    Thanks for the great review Ben! Was this particular belt the 'Elite' version? also what phone do you have that made it comfortably fit in the belt? I've got an iPhone 12 Pro Max so it's quite a big phone! 👍🏼

    • @ThisMessyHappy
      @ThisMessyHappy  3 года назад +1

      Thanks so much 😊 I actually don’t know if it’s the elite version but it comfortably fits the iPhone 12 Pro Max in because Mary has one and it fits. I have an 8plus and it fits easily. They’re really great 😊👍🏻

    I'm running virtual London Marathon so there's no water stations for me on my first ever marathon attempt.
    I'm a minimalist runner and carry the bare essentials. Really hate carrying anything when running so it's just phone & car key normally but I'm aware I'm gonna need water and nutrition on my 26.2miler.
    Would a flip belt be sufficient or would you recommend a hydration vest?

    • @ThisMessyHappy
      @ThisMessyHappy  2 года назад +1

      It’s a tricky one. I’d recommend on course hydration to keep yourself topped up. Have you already planned your route? You could do a multi lap route that swings back by your house? You might struggle to fit all nutrition AND hydration in a flip belt but definitely would be able to with a hydration vest 😊👍🏻

      @@ThisMessyHappy I've got two options of a route. One with friends where one of the dad's is gonna support, but I don't think the pace will be good for me. The other option will pass my house twice and incorporate a few mates houses too so they can get out and cheer me on, no excuses

      Hey Andy, you’d be in with a shout but 10 gels is more than I’ve ever tried. I’ve done 8 with phone and GoPro but never 10 I’m afraid! I’d say it could but I can’t be 100% certain

    Having a belt to carry things is nice although I really don't actually need cellphone, energy gels or hydration or anything extra stuff.. For me the most essential thing to carry is all that extra clothing I wear at the start of the run. Might need gloves, jacket, shirt and after warming up it might be just optimal weather to run shirtless, but if I start that way, I might feel cold for a quite a while, maybe even whole run. It's not great discomfort to wear too much clothing, but wearing less makes me run faster and feel better while doing that.
    I use compressport free belt pro, but I would imagine flipbelt would be okay too. And since I have that belt, I carry that cellphone, although I have never really needed it and always keep it on mute while running.
