He never addressed the fact that there is a low point drain on the hot side on the back side of the unit. I found out the hard way you need to drain the unit completely from the back drain if you don't want to drink the cleaning solution after you think you are finished.
We just bought a brand new water dispenser and the first thing it stresses in the maintenance section of the owner's manual is: "Never use detergent or chemicals harmful to health to clean the water tank." I think this is common sense, people. It would make sense to use maybe vinegar and water to clean the unit. At least, that won't kill you or give you health issues if you ingest some of the residual fluid left in the tank after cleaning it. I personally would advise running clean water through it and draining it until you feel comfortable that you have gotten all the bad water out before pouring yourself a cup of water from it. Just a thought.
The amount of bleach in the water is enough to kill bacteria, but not you (only a capful). And if you watched, it does show rinsing with another reservoir full of clean water (only water) and draining before use. I do agree that you might want to run a couple of pots of clean water through before drinking, but not too many (and I would imagine they should also be boiled to remove any potential bacteria from your tap water) so you don't introduce any new contaminants into the system. After all, there's a reason you're using a filtered water system and not drinking tap water, right?
Also, there is essentially bleach in most tapwater and people drink that. It's all about dilution; it's highly dangerous when pure, not a capful in a pot of water.
Also, there's a cap at the bottom that you can remove that holds another 1/4 gallon after the hot water tank is emptied. This here is a half assed way to do it.
Does the outside tip of the water jug mix with the drinking water once the jug is installed? I see that you touch and hold the tip when flipping to install the jug. Did you wipe down the tip? Are your hands clean?
Yes, I agree! I just did this yesterday, and my water smells and tastes like bleach even after rinsing it out like crazy. Not making that same mistake next time!!
@@anasquire4775that's bcuz the person in the video failed to mention that there's a low point drain for the hot side on the back of the cooler. That needs to be drained too or you'll be drinking the bleach solution you used to clean, no matter how much you rinsed. Even if you don't use bleach next time still drain this so that you're not drinking the water you used to clean.
This video should be removed off RUclips. It's not safe to use bleach because not all water coolers are the same. It could cause people to accidently consume bleach.
Shouldn't the reservoir be rinsed multiple times to make sure all of the solution it out?
100 agree
I always rinse llabout 5 times
White vinegar and lemon juice natural cleaner for my tank.
Thanks so much. This helped my water cooler. Perfect guide 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I would want to use the drain to gravity feed a ice maker right next to it.. would that work.... 🤔 mexican enginuity that it's finest

You’re wrong. 2 tbsp of bleach 5 gallons flush. Then flush again with no bleach and 5 gallons.
Helpful, thank you. Curious; bleach? Wouldn't distilled vinegar be a wiser choice?
i always wash mine with a touch of vinegar
Vinegar works way better.
would apple cider vinegar work?
@@binwin2582 yes, vinegar is vinegar. It will work.
Vinegar is only effective in killing certain bacterias. Bleach kills them all.
Must have skipped science class too if u think you’ll be affected by the bleach lol
I didn’t know that the filter comes out. I’ve been trying to find replacements but nobody seems to sell them.
Thank you so much for your video , I have this type of much . So much help yes🙏🏽
great but how about the hot water tank ??dint even drain it 🤨
Also, there's a cap at the bottom that you can remove that holds another 1/4 gallon after the hot water tank is emptied. This here is a half assed way to do it.
I'd rather use white vinegar than bleach. You'd have to use a high concentration of it, but it would be safer.
Im just surprised they only rinsed once. Isnt there a bleach taste left over?
this is really helpful!

His hands are cleaner than my lips, probably.
How did he and why did he put the bottle with the cap on?
very helpful + well-made guide to this project. TY!
Doesn't hot water negate the effects of chlorine bleach?
Thank you! 🧚♂️
Double like for this👍👍
Wow just gonna take up both outlets like that...
Yup..that was just disrespectful..
Thanks for sharing this. Helped me a lot
Thank you very much!
Thanks, it helps.
Nice and thank you
Very good video simple Thank"s
What about the hot water spout does that need to be drained like the cold water spout?
Gotta remove the cap in the back to drain out the hot water..
Thank you
I put a capful of vinegar.
Crystal mountain very clean
THANK UU😀💖🤘🏿
what song is this?
back in black by ac/dc i think
I think I'll skip the bleach...
doesn't the bleach become useless in hot water
if not really boiling it will be better since it will hasten the bleaching process.
adding bleach was not a good idea because water now tastes like bleach

You put too much. Plus I used bleach that was safe for colors.
Try vinegar

Dababy Les gooooo
He forgot to take off the plastic cover!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing lol.
what plastic cover?
Its don't have to removed it have a little hold like that open once u put it on
I wouldn’t do the bleach, needs to be rinsed numerous times.
You forgot to remove the handles and drain the hot tank
I dont think that bottle sponge used for cleaning is sanitary. Geat way to spread germs and residue from your fruit smoothies.
use a new one?
This is not bacteriologically correct, ozone must be released into the system, it is totally unhygienic.
Bleach??? U trying to kill someone?
