My father, Ronnie McKinney was a life long friend of Glen Campbell. Glen lived with my Dad and played in his band in the 1950s around the Houston Texas area. They had many wonderful stories to tell every time they got together over the years. It broke my Dad's heart when Glen's alzhiemers really got bad. My Dad, Ronnie McKinney passed away 12-4-2016. Glen , his uncle Boo and my Dad are picking up a storm in heaven right now.Playing Little Rock Getaway!
I'm sorry for your loss ! I hope all your great memories are a comfort to you, and that sometimes you can hear those three wonderful men tuning up their guitars in Heaven, for a good ole time Jambouree !
I'm missing Glen and now you got me tearing up for your Dad and Uncle Boo. So sad to see the greats of a generation move on, but man, what a time they had.
I grew up watching the Glen Campbell Show on TV and always thought he was the best guitar player ever. I even remember the curved back guitar he played on the show.
I miss Glen so much. Thanks for this one. I know Glen made a movie with John Wayne. I did too! I was 16 and Mr Wayne made his last movie the shootist in Carson City NV in 1976. Mr. Wayne was so nice to all of us. RIP Glen and John!
A lot of people have no.idea that humble Glen Campbell was responsible for lots of hits and such. But he started out as a studio sessions musician in 50s. Check that utube out folks. He also gave a few their start in the business. Van haven used toga glen with help.on his guitar playing. Yup..true....never read a note of sheet music..and mastered the bagpipes on his own....one talented gifted man with a gentle heart
Chris you impressed me so much with this interview, and I loved that you sang Walls with Glen and let him shine so much. What a great backing band too.
if this was 2009, Glen was 73...still singing strongly in the original keys without melodic adjustments to snake by high notes...as a singer for 53 years, that ability has always amazed me about Glen--and continued right up til his last tour. This interview was informative--heard a few questions that I had never heard asked of him. Isaac was so genuinely respectful and appreciative of the gem of a musician he was with, which I really appreciate. Thank u for posting this--it was truly a thrill to watch.
It must have been a comfort to him to have that beautiful voice so near the end of his life . I lost my husband in 2020 to dementia and still I wonder if he was afraid but know he'd have done anything not to worry us, that's who he was❤. Such a cruel disease!
Nearly 70 years old now, I miss his talents, his voice, his forthrightness and more. I hope to hear that unbelievably unique and awesome voice again some day. The best to his family. I hope and pray for their continuing happiness and achievement.
Tremendous show from Chris Isaac with and about Glen Campbell. Two things stand out, one what a great talent Glen Campbell had which Chris clearly recognized even maybe more than Glen did, and secondly, what a terrific fan Chris was and is of music generally - we know Chris loved Elvis, Roy Orbison & Johnny Cash, but his love and knowledge of music and his sensitive handling of Glen at this time in his life makes this clip almost a historical document - and I don't think that's overstating things. Chris is greatly underrated . . .
Glen Campbell was one of the best guitar players of all time… pretty much every big named artist that played with him in any capacity, said he was the best guitarist ever… they say he could play anything..
After watching Glen's "I'll Be Me" documentary, it's unquestionable that he was already experiencing the early stages of Alzheimer's at the time of this interview. It's so sad to know that Glen can no longer speak, and has no memory of any of this. His album "Still Within the Sound of My Voice" is one of the best country albums ever recorded. Also, his last studio album, "Ghost On the Canvas" is extremely good. Knowing he recorded it at 71 or 72 years old, and while dealing with Alzheimer's disease just makes it that much more incredible. We miss you, Glen.
I send my Love to all music makers. My son Bobby Tyler was a professional. I will get you lessons and take you every time but I will never ask you to practice. He died 5 yrs ago. ❤
We're lucky to have the fortune of the fact that Glen's talent made it to so many people. While it's easy to feel bad at his passing, I celebrate that he lives on in my heart, and my nostalgic memory of better and simpler times. I want so much, to go back to the days of Wichita Lineman, sometimes, it hurts.
What a wonderful, thoughtful interview! Glen was already in decline at the time but he kept going for as long as he could...it must have been very difficult....Thank you Mr Isaak for the interview and for how you conducted it. Class act!
Great interview ,much thanks to Chris Isaak for that, I am a fan of Glen Campbell and the talent he had was amazing,Iam most glad that he became a Christian ,Thank You Lord for that Amen!
It's the third time I've watched this from start to finish and I love it. The humility from such a superstar like Glen is fantastic and Chris is an utter gentleman who makes this a special show.
RIP Glenn Campbell. Amazing musician, amazing singer. Wichita Lineman never fails to make me cry. (And I don't cry easily). Excellent interview by Chris Isaak...A real natural. And an authentic, gentle and kind Soul. Well done, Chris.
Best friend with Alice Cooper. Loved the interview Alice did remembering Mr. Campbell. Very touching! Who would of thought those two were such great friends. Goes to show that everyone not only admired, respected Mr. Campbell but truly loved him. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I Love Chris Isaak. Wicked Game and You Owe Me Some Kinda Love are my favorites, plus he's very attractive! I grew up listening to my parents playing country music and when I heard Glen Campbell's Witchita Lineman and By The Time I get to Pheonix, I never forgot the sweet sound of those beautiful songs. Glens voice speaks straight to the heart and soul and his music is timeless. He is an icon. My heart and prayers go out to Glen Campbell as Alzheimers is a horrific illness that affects far too many people these days and that I hope we can one day find a cure for!
Love Glen Campbell... In 1980 I was learning to play various instruments including the guitar and piano.. I had three records (LPs) to my name: One by Glen, The Eagles, and Cliff Richard.. My mom still has the records in Ireland.... What a gift to all Mr. Campbell was.. Rest well Mr. Campbell and God Speed..
EXACTLY. You are correct! Its funny because I had an urge to listen carefully to Witchita Lineman about 2 months ago. It sent my heart soaring like it always did while I was growing up! I love this music.
Anytime I play the great legendary Glen Campbell's music...it always reminds me of my father who unexpectedly passed on at the young age of 66. October 14th, 1997.
I wish I would have watched Chris's show when it was aired. The best part of all is the performers are playing LIVE. No mouthing the song or lip singing. Chris is a good show host. You can hear a little bit of voice lost in Glen's voice singing voice. Thanks for publishing this.
Glen Campbell made a great difference in my life. I grew up in the sixties and by the time left Phenoix was the first album I had and I saw True Grit at the drive inn. His songs bring back great memories. Much better time in music and history at least in my mind and that comes from someone listing to those great attest during that time. Hope his family keep all his music alive for other generations. Thank you Glen.
I spent about 6 hours with Glen and his combo following a show he was on back in 9/67. Just a regular good guy, funny, relaxed and just starting his swift climb to the top of the music world. I agree with all the good things said about him in these comments.
Two wonderful performers; Chris and Glen. So glad I found this exceptional interview on UTube tonight. We need more like this. I learned more about Glen Campbell in this interview. Great singing.
This is a great interview of the unbelievable voice and guitar playing of Glen Campbell by Chris Isaak. I had never heard Isaak before this interview. He did an excellent job. He was obviously a very good interview to get all this out of Glen Campbell at this stage of disease Alzheimer. He even had him talking about his problems with Alcoholism and the cocaine he was as he said not a nice person when he was on all of that Cocaine and alcohol for all of those years. When he saw himself an knew he needed to be free of all the "stuff" of addiction, he did, he had the help and comfort of the lady who became his last wife. Again, this had so m much meat within the interview and Glenn's singing was still great, maybe a step behind what he had a couple decades before. Now Glen is IN his Lord Jesus's Hands. He accepted the Lord when he was getting off the drugs and alcohol for good. Thank you Jesus for lending us Glen Campbell;l for those wonderful years. God has Blessed Glen Campbell.
I totally agree that this is a great interview. I was able to say Glen Campbell four times. Oh my God great performances including with the Boston Pops Orchestra
Glen Campbell 's music when played at home when I was growing up.Loved him then love him now.A gentleman singer actor husband father how is has touch alot of peoples lives, while watching Chris Isaaks special it made me forget for one hour that Glen Campbell is down with Alziemers.God love you Glen and God bless you will always be gentle on my mind.😇
Glen was the real deal . Glen started with nothing and became the greatest guitar player of his generation . He went on to to become such a great singer and performer ..Great loss.
I went to a church meeting in Agoura Hills and we were singing when I heard this very familiar voice singing right behind me and turned around to see Glen and his wife Kim. What a thrill later as we talked about his music, movies, shows and sang together briefly! Class act!
This might just be the best musical interview I've ever seen! Having an interviewer/singer/guitarist music fan like Chris Isaak interview, and play all kinds of great tunes with a legend like Glen Campbell...it just doesn't get any better. Just got my copy of the Wrecking Crew, and it reminded me what an amazing musician Glen is. Thanks for posting this.
Wow ....how did this pop up . Amazing ..how sweet ....one of the greatest quitarist and vocalist ever ❤️ sweet tears hearing Galveston thank you Great show Chris ❤
Music is a great conduit for reviving memories and lucidity in individuals experiencing memory issues. It was so awesome to hear Glen and Chris just having a great time making music together. Well done Mr. Isaak, much thanks for this interview.
glen campbell..one of the most under rated musicians of all time...a truley fantastic guirtarist...and a great singer as well..and by all accounts ,,a lovely guy,,,so sad to see him waste away...God bless..
Glen was one of the first performers to get me interested in country music back in the 60's. Guy can pick. Great voice. He also introduced me to Tanya Tucker. Been a love affair ever since.
Reverence is what I see and well deserved without a doubt...Chris does such a great job interviewing Glenn and mining the endless treasure of Glenn Campbell's life and gifts ...thank you very much, Chris
I think that Glen is the most talented musician of all time and doesn't get the accolades he rightfully deserves. RIP GLEN or RIP it up wherever you may rest.
+MrMusicguyma Love Chris and have all of his albums....however, I was tossed out of a venue once just because I wanted to shake his hand. The rule was that if I did not have a purchased "Chris Isaak" item to sign by Chris you could not stand in line for an autograph. Seriously gay as the kids would say. Whatever!
I've known Chris for many years as my brother "Jimmy Wilsey" was Chris' guitarist for years while he was a solo artist. You can hear Jimmy's guitar work on "Wicked Game" and throughout the entire album. Chris is a class act, no doubt.
You are blessed to know Chris. I printed up a 33 page article on your brother which O plan to read today, Thanksgiving 2020 as I am alone and plan to do some reading today. Your brother was very talented and it was fated that he met Chris abd brought that sound to Chris' music and that song. I heard someone mention the term "surf guitar." Do you think that the term fits your brother's sound or Chris' music???
Thank you, Chris! I wished I would have known of your show! Living in ND, we didn't always have access to great shows like this. I love watching you interviewing people like Glenn Campbell. "There's a load of compromising on this road to my horizon." You picked a classic line to comment on!! Please tell us when you ever get to Vegas or ND! I'd be there in a minute! Well, I'd like to hear you anywhere, but job and horses keep me home in the Dakotas except for a quick trip to NV on occasion. Keep on singing your soulful rocking bluesy music! It's the best and I've introduced lots of people to your sound!
Jimmy was a great player, his guitar track makes that whole song happen, he was a tone master, love his solo effort El Dorado as well. He truly was the "King of Slow" RIP Jimmy.
Great view... Sure miss the Chris Isaak show saw him perform several times and talked a bit during his autograph session in Council Bluffs which lasted over an hour in 95+ degree heat after his show a true gentleman. Great to see and hear Glen do this interview I had overlooked his true talent for a long time Thanks Glen.
Wow, I've seen a number of interviews with Glen Campbell and I have to say this is probably the best. One of the things that amazes me about Glen Campbell is how good his voice was in his later years. He was around 73 when this show was done and his voice was still very good. As a musician he has very few peers. Hard to believe so much talent was within one person. Thanks for posting this is a treasure.
I became aware of Glen Campbell's back story via Alice Cooper's eulogy and wanted to hear and see more of Mr Campbell's legacy and after a whole bunch of clicks I thought I was about done then I found this absolute gem . Thankyou Chris Isaak and crew.
A master musician. Always an interest in Glen Campbell from hearing his songs as a kid in the mid 60s. Even as a rock guitarist you knew he was a hell of a player as well as a prolific songwriter. Chris Isaak deserves a lot of kudos for his interview style
8/8/17 we can find recordings of Glen singing this throughout his career. Each time as Glen's voice aged it added more depth and emotion to the song, but never overplayed.
Best interview of Glenn ever. You can tell how much Chris and Hershel dig playing Galveston with Glenn. I'm so glad Hershel got to go off even if just for a bit at the end.
When I was much younger I didn't have the maturity to fully appreciate Glen Campbell. I was until years later, when I discovered he was part of the incredible 'Wrecking Crew', and the quality of his voice, that I began to truly appreciate his historic talent.
Oh my gosh, I am so glad I found this episode. I just watched I'll Be Me on Netflix and suddenly wondered if Chris Isaak was influened by Glen Campbell and was looking for Chris Isaak on Facebook to ask him. They are both extraordinary talented!
Oh, wow. How this resonates. Great music, great words and wonderful insights into the amazing talent of Glen Campbell. Chris Isaak. You are the epitome of class for how you conducted this interview and treated this legend with the dignity he deserved. Loved your shows, will always enjoy your music.
what an example of just how devastating a condition Alzheimers is Glen was always a great interview over the years his stories were so detailed and he would regularly share recollections from as far back as 2 or 3 years of age not to mention his detailed stories of his career as both a session player and a superstar recording artist he obviously had a great memory. his illness has really weighed on me these last few years have even shed a few tears for him Glen was one of the best ever
I agree with you about crying over Glen's condition. He made a huge impact on all of us growing up in the 60's whether we favored country music or not. Wichita Lineman was one of the most beautiful songs of the time and his voice was unique like no one else!!!! I want to learn more! I was very sad these last few years about his illness. I wonder if there is a book that details his life.
I feel the same way. Mr. Campbell had so many struggles with alcohol and drugs over the years. It was upsetting to see the last few years of life be ruined with Alzheimer's disease. Anyone who gets any one of the diseases of dementia is an unforgiving destruction of one's life. The interesting thing about Glen was that he could still play guitar up until two years before his death. He never forgot. I saw him in person play in the early 2000's at a local club in So. California. What a treat! I miss classic country music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Today's music sounds synthetic. Not nearly the quality of lyrics and melody from past years. I wish we could go back to a simpler time without technology to complicate the music.
Growing up in the 70s pop listening to him was a gasser traveling on hunting fishing and camping trips out of Vegas to central Nevada and northeast corner of Nevada area 7 , 6, 17 , and 11 , last trip to 22 at bristle cone....🤔💚😔😊✌️
Miss the old man immensely memories of the times having fun with each other's share of experiences and goofs momma's hot meals after a good day hunting or working at home rhinestone cowboy and wichita lineman all time favs always...
I have known Chris since before he was a big star. Dude is just the most humble and down to earth guy you could ever meet. I have never seen this until today but wow what a gem of an interview with two of my favorite people.
Great post!! Glenn's career is amazing, to become one of most sought studio musician and never learned to read music!! Just an unbelievable life and he is missed.
My father, Ronnie McKinney was a life long friend of Glen Campbell. Glen lived with my Dad and played in his band in the 1950s around the Houston Texas area. @@charlie-obrien Great story
Jim Mckinney What a lovely story to share , thank you. 🕊🕊🕊
Thanks for sharing Jim
I stumbled on this in February 2024. What a lucky stumble. I love Glen.
Same for me. I am sewing away and in my sewing I let RUclips play music. This is a cool
August 2024 for me..😁
I grew up watching the Glen Campbell Show on TV and always thought he was the best guitar player ever. I even remember the curved back guitar he played on the show.
When I see Glen singing without a guitar , my heart goes out to whoever had to play his guitar parts. Talk about pressure
I love Glen Campbell and I love Chris Isaak even more now that I have heard this video.
When Glenn passes away, we will know that GOD needs him more in Heaven to sing and play the guitar than we need him on earth.
Karen Guthrie Slack so sad that the time has come... RIP, Glen
Sad day today as Glenn Campbell passed away. I watched this video one more time today to remember the great Glenn Campbell.
Found this in June 2024. Oh, I agree. That $7 Sears-Roebuck should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
My life is better because of Glen Campbell.....thank you
I miss Glen so much. Thanks for this one. I know Glen made a movie with John Wayne. I did too! I was 16 and Mr Wayne made his last movie the shootist in Carson City NV in 1976. Mr. Wayne was so nice to all of us. RIP Glen and John!
"And I need you, more than want you" one of the greatest lyric ever written.
'and I want you for all time' yep greatest lyrics ever written! RIP Glen Campbell
That line was written by Glen's best collaborator Jimmy Webb. Glen knew great songs when he heard them, and made them his own.
Best line in one of the best songs ever! ❤
Jimmy Webb RIP All the Songs Glen and Jimmy are singing Alzheimer's was here but now in HEAVEN They are singing jamming with JESUS.
Thank you Chris Isaak, for your humanity in conducting this interview and your show the way you did. Class all the way.

if he would let glenn talk.
It’s so amazing how these songs have such a piece of my heart, I truly love Glen and Chris’ gift they gave me.
I think this was because GC was already starting to lose it...Chris was helping him.
if this was 2009, Glen was 73...still singing strongly in the original keys without melodic adjustments to snake by high notes...as a singer for 53 years, that ability has always amazed me about Glen--and continued right up til his last tour.

Ray Price had a great voice too. There are videos on here of him singing in his 80s and still sounding like he was 40.
I saw Glen on his last tour in Los Angeles and he sounded absolutely amazing.
Music Is the food of Life!
It must have been a comfort to him to have that beautiful voice so near the end of his life . I lost my husband in 2020 to dementia and still I wonder if he was afraid but know he'd have done anything not to worry us, that's who he was❤. Such a cruel disease!
This was such a wonderful and gentle time in American history. Long gone, long gone. Makes me very sad.
This was 2009 lady.
@@spaceghost8995 Thank you for the clarification, sir.
I absolutely agree and yes a gentle time.
And you've probably been voting for democrats for 50 years but don't blame you....
Lol..gentle ..hardly.
Well, I ran across this at 4 am on Labor Day! Awesome!
Chris Isaak is the man. Imagining interviewing your guitar heroes, and this is how it was done.
I have been a fan of both Chris Isaak and Glen Campbell for decades. This was a real treat.
Why this interview hasn’t nailed a million views remains a mystery.
Glen Campbell was one of the best guitar players of all time… pretty much every big named artist that played with him in any capacity, said he was the best guitarist ever… they say he could play anything..
“And I need you more than want you. And I need you for all time.” An amazing lyric. Genius. Think about it. It’s so true.

Ghost On The Canvas has been my favorite album of his since it came out and I've been a fan since the early 1970s.
Boy that is one sweet interview with our very own Glen Campbell. They just don't come along like that anymore. God Bless you Glen and Chris
Glen was one heck of a guitar player and played on so many great iconic songs. I wish this show would have included him playing the guitar.
There’s loads of shows with him on guitar on RUclips …
His speech pattern is somewhat tongue tied and then gets on stage and it’s Gold. Amazing how God works.

"You gotta be goin' there to get there cuz it ain't on the way to no place." Glen Campbell was a genius with words as surely as he was with a guitar.

HE FANTASTIC IN HIS OWN WRITES RIGHTS !!!!!
Wow ....how did this pop up .
Amazing ..how sweet ....one of the greatest quitarist and vocalist ever ❤️ sweet tears hearing Galveston thank you
Great show Chris ❤
R.I.P. Glen Campbell 1936-2017. What a truly talented gifted musician and singer you were...
Music is a great conduit for reviving memories and lucidity in individuals experiencing memory issues. It was so awesome to hear Glen and Chris just having a great time making music together. Well done Mr. Isaak, much thanks for this interview.
RIP Glen. thank you so much.
glen campbell..one of the most under rated musicians of all time...a truley fantastic guirtarist...and a great singer as well..and by all accounts ,,a lovely guy,,,so sad to see him waste away...God bless..
THANK YOU FOR THE WELL CONDUCTED INTERVIEW............WITH GLEN CAMPBELL
Simply beautiful interview . We miss you Glen . Lord take good care of him
I think that Glen is the most talented musician of all time and doesn't get the accolades he rightfully deserves. RIP GLEN or RIP it up wherever you may rest.
This is an excellent interview. I am pleasantly surprised at Chris Isaak's ability to conduct this so well. I am glad I found this.
I love Glen Campbell. How much I love this guy who gave precious things to the world.
Chris Isaak is respectful self-deprecating and kind. Good studied interview.
MrMusicguyma I think the same thing....so much humbleness in this interview...
Whatever!
Damn Daniel
Garrett Barnachez That wasn’t the case when I saw him. He signed autographs for everyone; he signed my ticket stub.
Chris isn't gay@@garrettbarnachez1844
I've known Chris for many years as my brother "Jimmy Wilsey" was Chris' guitarist for years while he was a solo artist. You can hear Jimmy's guitar work on "Wicked Game" and throughout the entire album. Chris is a class act, no doubt.
You are blessed to know Chris. I printed up a 33 page article on your brother which O plan to read today, Thanksgiving 2020 as I am alone and plan to do some reading today. Your brother was very talented and it was fated that he met Chris abd brought that sound to Chris' music and that song.
I heard someone mention the term "surf guitar." Do you think that the term fits your brother's sound or Chris' music???
peace to Jimmy and your family. Jimmy was amazing and I saw him with CI in Belgium
Hey Thanks! Your brother was an amazing artist. Excellent feel and sound. When he played with Chris and the guys he was in another world. RIP Jimmy!
Jimmy was a great player, his guitar track makes that whole song happen, he was a tone master, love his solo effort El Dorado as well. He truly was the "King of Slow" RIP Jimmy.
I didn't want this interview to end. I could watch it all day long
This song is permanently engraved in my inner ear...love it.
"I hear you singin' in the wire...".
Brilliant.
Great guitarist awesome talent. Miss you Mr. Campbell. Thank you for the sweet memories and beautiful music.
You`re welcome. Let`s hope RUclips won't remove it.
Chris Isaak, humble, smart and an absolute superstar interviewing an absolute Legend. RIP Glenpbell
Great post, truly precious.
This is what RUclips is for.
Truly a great talent, thoughts and prayers as he faces a rough road ahead! Chris Isaak is a class act and a great singer also!
I met Chris at the backstage exit of a club he played right after his first album came out. Real nice guy
We feel a longing for him still. Heaven rejoices now
Just a terrific interview intermingled with Glen singing. Thx for posting, He was immensely talented even to his latter years. RIP Glen
I love this. Glen Campbell was a true gent.
I've been a fan of Glenn's since his show was on when I was a kid. Campell and Isaac, two real, gifted, class acts.
Awesome cover of Walls. One of my favorite Tom Petty songs and Glen does a great job in his style. First time I've ever heard this.
Chris Isaak is a class act, interviewing a legendary class act.
Thanks for posting.
Jimmy Webb and Glen Campbell, we were not then and remain unworthy. Rest well Mr. Campbell and thank you.
Glenn and Neil Diamond would wisk my off to dreamland as a young boy of7.I would sing myself to sleep.Ty.
