Downloading a Video from a Facebook when the option is not available.

There is either no download option, or it does not work properly, therefore here is a basic workaround to download a video from a private Facebook Group. Thanks to @MoolaSavingMom for help figuring this out.
Update from one of my viewers -
"Instead of replacing 'www' with 'm', use 'mbasic' instead and press Enter. Click the play button and the video opens in another tab, which you can then right-click and select 'Save Video As...' to download."

Hi found an easier way. Click on edit post under three dots, then hover over video and click on edit again. It will take you to an editing library and it will allow you to download from there.
I know you can click edit on your own video and get download. This process is for videos you did not upload to Facebook.
@neda this is the only thing that worked for me! So frustrating, it is my live video and I have to dig into an hour of research to download the frigging thing. Ridiculous. Thanx again!
How does it allow you to download? I've gotten to where you said, and I can't figure it out. Wondering if FB removed this loophole. Ridiculous that FB won't let me download my own video because it has a song on it... I'd be happy to download it without audio but that isn't an option.

Omg THANK YOU I was freaking out because I'd recorded a whole presentation in a fb group that I needed to download (which I do all the time) and the 'download' button was GONE and this allowed me to download it!!! Crisis averted THANK YOU!

Thank you so much! after putting the m in front it took me to random videos and I had to search for my video from that page. But once I found my video I was able to save it. I don't understand why some of my videos have the download option and some don't. But you have been a BIG help.

Hi, just wanted to provide my feedback as there is a video Facebook would not let me download. I agree with the folks below that the mobile version is a lot lower quality. I was able to get that 'inspect' menu to come up while watching the HD version of my video. Following the rest of your steps I was able to download the high resolution version. Thank you!

So what do you do when you want to save in 720p, which it was recorded in. When I use your method, it only allows download of 480p. Thanks for the help.

These instructions are 3 yrs old Sally. I'm sure they are out of date now. Tell me the URL of your video and I will see if I can find a way to download it for you..

OMG - my mother is the only one who ever called me genius, until today. (lol). This is a 3 year old video. It is not the best way to download videos today, but Facebook makes it hard to do.

Managed to get to "Network < Media" but nothing showed up under the name column, try as I might. So I had nothing to "right-click" on and open in a new tab. Darn. For some reason, two of my Facebook Lives have recently not had a "download video" option as they normally do. I really would like to be able to download then upload them to my choir's RUclips channels, as I've been able to do on so many videos already. Why does this happen?
I have no idea why it does not work for you, or why it used to work and does not now.
I will have to retest this. It has been a few years, maybe the process has changed, yet again.

Hey it worked but the issue is the video quality. Video quality of the downloaded video is actually bad than uploaded video. Any trick for downloading same quality video
Sorry, I don't know how to make the downloaded video a higher resolution. If I discover a better solution I will create a new video on this topic.
This is because you are downloading the mobile version of the video, which IS lower resolution. It is (uesd to be) a simple workaround to downloading the original (higher resolution) video, that is only playing in many tiny little pieces...
However, I tried this trick now and it does NOT work any longer (and so have a few more people).
I haven't found a new, alternative way yet.

Facebook squeezes the video, you can not get the original resolution this way. This is an old process, maybe there are better processes now.
I found the way to do it.... takes a little longer but I get the high resolution vid

What do we do if there is no menu that shows the video url?
This is an old video. I have not tested this process in some time. I believe based on other videos that there is another process. I'm sorry I can't help any more on this hack.
In my case the right click does not work. What to do ?

Try a different browser.

Sir Will Facebook Ban All of those apps which helps us to download videos from facebook
Because the Terms of Services say, "You may not access or collect data from our Products using automated means (without our prior permission) or attempt to access data you do not have permission to access." I believe that we are not permitted to use apps to download videos from Facebook, without permission. That said, I have downloaded my own videos from Facebook on occasion.
Additionally, because of copyright laws, we should not download other Facebook member's videos without permission either.
@@TLBurriss Sir Actually I was Planning to make a video downloading app for fb, insta, twitter. So, this question came in my mind that will facebook ban all of those apps which helps us to download videos from facebook. So According to you will facebook ban those apps
I do not know what Facebook will do beyond what I read in the Terms of Services. I recommend reading them completely and if you are still unsure of what you can do, contact someone else for an answer to this question. I wish you all the best in your quest.

How do you do it and have the chat as well? Not just the video.
It downloads with the full audio/video for me Sherry.
TLBurriss yes the audio but you can not see the other peoples chat that is being typed on the right side of the video.

@@sherrymcqueen8066 No. The Terms of Services of Facebook does not allow you to scrape the content in any way, for any reason. Share the URL to the video on FB to include the comments/chat.

This video is 3 years old now. I guess the process has changed.
No options appear when I right click on the video...nothing happens.
This video is really old. It is possible the process no lnoger viable. I do not have another solution.
