What a delicacy plantain is 😋! In uganda we call it GONJA and its sometimes eaten roasted over charcoal or steamed in banana leaves .Thanks darling ❤for showing us other versions of cooking it too😊 and I just can't wait to try them out.
Suzzy I wish u are in Uganda I would give you a big hug before I joined this channel I had given up with organizing and cooking but now each time I watch u am forced to move on and home is learning new things always thanks dear.
Love your videos Mrs, keep it up. You can just add the salt before frying. You make your salt solution, then you peel and slice the plantains into the solution, you remove and fry. Try this with black eyed beans stew and it would be one favorite meal for the family. In Ghana where I am from beans with fried plantain is a favorite staple for almost every home. A great lunch idea
I subacribed to ur channel not only because I wanted to learn how to cook plantain but because I'm sooooooo happy to hear children in the background.. I was SOLD when I heard the child ask a question😅 thanks Queen.
I love plantains. We use them alot here in Nigeria. The ripe ones are fried and pairs well with beans, rice, spaghetti or with fried eggs. The unripe ones are made into a porridge with leafy veggies, fish, chicken or beef. I love mine cut thin. Almost like chips. Thanks for sharing Suzy.
Plantain's are also boiled as they start ripening and added coconut milk as they boil they are great for breakfast and plantain's grow in every banana zone in Kenya
I grew up eating these all the time. This is a typical side dish used in Cuban dishes. My favorite are the green plantains before they are ripe. It’s more savory then sweet. So yummy. Thank you for sharing.
Fried Plantain is one of my favorite food to eat. First time I learnt about oven baked plantains. I will advise against the salt sprinkling of the plantains though, just to control the salt intake in your body. It is very delicious just as it is. Keep on doing what you are doing Suzy, just love to watch your channel. Viewing from Montserrat in the Caribbean Islands,...

Good job Suzy but I have a question: Why add salt? I cant stand salt on my sugary food... its either sugar or salt not both.... I cant stand honey in my food too... my take though.... I see people adding salt to arrow roots and sweet potatoes ... I enjoy those foods in their original taste....

The first time I tasted Plantain I loved them especially for breakfast
Will definitely try the oven baked ones
Great to see options of cooking plantain. Here in Uganda its mostly roasted/grilled over the local charcoal stove! We I will call you it ‘Gonja’.
Gonja is so sweet 😋

Suzy this is how you add salt in plantains, when they are frying mix water with salt then with a spoon add the salty water in the oil.
Hi Anne! Thanks for the tip💐🌺
The almost ripe plantain are usually boiled and eaten for breakfast whereas the unripe plantain are cooked with meat or beans for a delicious meal
In DRcongo we eat them with meat like French fries with some salade very yummy, the unripe we eat them with beans or vegetable
I'm trying them tomorrow, thanks

Why do u sprinkle salt??
Hi Purity! It is for taste...
Someone pls describe how they taste like sugar sweet or?
Hi Elizabeth! Plantains are generally sweet.

I find there is no need for salt when cooking ripe plantain. It's healthier.
So plantains are not just normal bananas. We were were with my cousin in a restaurant and she ordered plantains and what was brought was bananas made in this manner and thought that's the name they give to bananas prepared like this.

Me too, it's either salty or sweet. Nothing like sweet salty food.
I also prefer mine with a lil' salt. Gives them a tangy taste.
Seems we have same palate,my house help would put salt in sweet potatoes waah,I can't stand it
So it's a choice dear, you can do away with the salt. It's much tastier with it though, like I said, it's a choice

The skin of a plantain is thicker. Even when green bananas are never as firm as a plantain.
