The way you describe death and the use of souls and bodies in Ravnica really does make the flavor text for Rest in Peace hit hard: "Some corpses the Golgari cannot claim. Some souls the Orzhov cannot shackle."
It's crazy how you can maintain a frequent upload schedule with how in-depth these videos are-downright superhuman. Thanks a lot, Erek. The best afterlife is clearly the one promised to the people of Amonkhet by the benevolent God-Pharaoh :).
@@TheLorebrarians I'm really grateful for your efforts; you quickly became my number one lore channel, not to mention that even your longest videos are very rewatchable. Is that Adyr video still happening in the future, btw?
@@TheLorebrarians I am super excited for it. The topic is covered in so much misdirection that so many assume Adyr was the mastermind behind the events of the game, but the more I look into the lore, the more I realize Molhu and the putrid mother likely orchestrated everything (other than the creation of the lightreaper). I wouldn't be surprised if the idea of giving the rune of Adyr to judge cleric was whispered to Harkyn through the lamp, with the putrid mother manipulating queen Sophesia into setting in motion Adyr's return to draw Harkyn back to mournstead as well as use Adyr's tearing of the fabric of reality to increase her influence. The umbral lamp will not lend a lampbearer its power unless they have a role to play in the umbral's scheme, which I believe Harkyn's was to feed the umbral parasite attached to him in preparation for the umbral ending, and that is why he was allowed to live for so long.
Another incredible video/ approach on this very unique part of the gameplay the graveyard represents. Escape, Delve, Dredge, Unearth, Discard, Mill etc. go far beyond simple game mechanics and touch to many philosophical and religious aspects IMHO, especially when you mirror them with the planes they come from. So glad Mirrodin/ Shadowmoor and my good old T1 Dark Ritual Specter made an appearance in your piece of work, won't gonna lie. Cheers
What interests me the most with the different plains of magic, is how the mana ecosystem works. The soul of living things, is mostly just a vessel of mana, that brings life to inanimate matter. Wheras the body returns to dirt, to be fuel for new bodies, the soul returns to manaa, to be fuel for either new souls, or other mana constructs. Gods, angels, spirits, demons and the like, are beings of pure mana. Creatures and elementals are a fusion of matter and mana. Magic haven't given us all the answers, but we have a fairly good picture on what naturaly happens to the soul after death, and then the permanent death of the soul, but we know little of how souls are formed, or how mana is bound to various natural mechanisms. We know that some beings spontaniously leap into excistence, when enough mana or gather at a place, or when enough belief forces mana to take a certain shape. Might be that just some natural shapes attracts mana, and if the vessel is is right, the mana takes the shape of a soul.
Some of this info started getting repeated at a certain point. Not sure if it was too long for u to notice that while editing but when a video is this long I think any repetition stands out more. Still very good but I don't have the attention span for the whole thing today. I'm over 30 mins in tho so it ain't like I quit after 2 mins
While I very much enjoy this type of thoughtful content- I have to be honest here… The audio quality of the voice over has made it challenging for me to relax and immersive myself in the words. I hear a static air present whenever the voiceover is playing. It’s distracting. And I’m only here telling you this as honest feedback. I hope you don’t take this criticism too harshly. ❤
None taken, I always appreciate and look for feedback to improve! I had changed a couple things with audio editing recently to test different levels, so this is good to know. Will look into it
Let me know which plane or creature you think best represents death and the afterlife!
Death: Amonkhet
Afterlife: Theros
The Golgari 🌿
spend more time on your scripts.

@@Sometuy11A it is one of three videos for the channel that I've just recorded and am editing as we speak ;)

This feels deeper than just fantasy lore... The depth of idea on the nuance that is death.
Considering my first deck was the zombie prebuild from legions this particular set of lore I really appreciate 💜
Glad to see you're still doing it Mayne

Appreciate the feedback! I try not to be lengthy for its own sake, will be more aware of redundancy in the future
