Something interesting about Rakdos is that WoTC’s creative team seems to have soft-retconned the guild away from a demon cult, into a monster clown circus that coincidentally happens to be led by a demon.

I wish the older lore was more readily available to the modern Magic player because you get so many good examples of what made these characters more than their status in their respective guilds. Take Jarad as an example, yes he died at the hands of the cult of Rakdos, but what most people don't know is that he made that sacrifice because they abducted his child and he did end up saving him in the end. That moment definitely made me like Jarad, and tried as I might, I could not find where his leadership of the Golgari was disposed of or how it was done. As much as I love Vraska, I feel like they did Jarad a little dirty.

They’re the plane’s traditional investigators, and that role has been usurped by a new organization with seemingly much cleaner public image.
I'm relatively sure that they wouldn't just permanently get rid off an entire guild. Ravnica and the concept of the guilds are just too popular among fans to change the status quo too much. And then again, if there's a guild that is good at coming back from death, it would be the Golgari.

I always thought that the Ohrzov started as a religion of Ancestor Worship, perhaps with an absent creator deity who has since abandoned the Plane, & then EASILY parlayed that into it's current form once greater wealth could be achieved. I can see the living members telling others on the Plane; "Well, clearly my ancestors were brighter, more blessed than yours because they've been more successful in life. I could ask them for their council & intercession... for a fee." The advice and aid would lead parishioners deeper into debt & thus they'd need to seek out more help, much like the predatory practices if IRL payday loan establishments.

Great video! Crazy what can happen during three blocks. And even between!
Just a clarification: Borborygmos is pronounced Bor-Borig-Mos. Don't get it wrong or your needle might fail. And Jarad is pronounced Jah-Rad, not Girard.
Thanks for the clarification. That damn Cyclops’ name has always been the bane of my existence lol
@@AetherHub Its fine, You did pronounce all those other hard names correctly haha Mothers in Ravnica sure are creative.
@@AetherHub Fun fact. Borborygmos is directly named after the real life technical term for the sound your stomach makes when it rumbles.
I can nether confirm or deny that House Dimir ever has existed or disappeared.
golgari they keep getting the bad end but tey are one of the most important systems
Gruul hearts run deep- Nikya the old ways
Their ferocious hearts beat loud! The Simic show respect
Boros for life ! ✊
For the strong must always protect the weak. As a Simic main, I prefer making the weak stronger! ;)
@@AetherHub I love Simic too.
"Ezuri, claw of progress" was my second and still one of my favorite commander decks.
The Simic Combine appeals the most to me as a student of biochemistry. What they do is completely unethical, by the standards of our world, but I'd be lying if Î didn't say it is interesting.
Rakdos, Rakdos 🙌
Please entertain me!
@@AetherHub 💃 🔥 🕺
My 3 favorite guilds got screwed in different ways.
Simic lost the people's trust
Dimir went AWOL
Golgari went to the dark side and seems to be the deadest now
Golgari will come back , it's their thing.
As far as Dimir is concerned, they ain't dead till I see the bodies.
Simic, they overstepped , I doubt they stay down but they will probably come back a good since of moderation.
@@cooltiger2439 As long as things die, Golgari will grow.
Dimir might very well take this event as an opportunity to go incognito.
Simic... Zegana and Vannifar are attending the Karlov Manor event, I wonder how that will turn out.
I'm still disappointed that the Guildless, teased heavily in Dragon's Maze, seems like a dropped thread
Orzhov will reign supreme!
Fellow Orzhov!
If dimir will allow them to remember
They’re currently top dogs!!!
The dimir are still skulking about 👀
My Orzhova brothers
Wizards needs too bring back the guild crest tees
28:26 maybe the elemental will attach itself to the multiverse world tree 🌳and spray for all the planes and or the tree.
P.s. who name an elemental Matt.
@20:29 His name is pronounced "Bor-bor-ig-miss" its the medical/scientific term for stomach growls
Never knew that trivia. Thanks!

Ahh my guild, Simic, in a respectful 2nd place
@@AetherHub Sorry friend, we can’t all be Dimir 😝
I'm an Izzet Mage, all the way.
Although, I have a soft spot for the guildless. Everyone always forgets about the guildless.
@@JonathonSwinney2814 useful pawns or a irritating thorn to the guilds. Some wish to forget
**Rakdos.** It represents true humanity. Laws , morals, and hierarchy mean nothing in the face of power and desire. That’s what truly drives a civilization.
Dimir will rise once again.
12:00 Still better than the current House.
Izzet is the superior Guild.
I follow wherever my dragon leads. Can't say I have any loyalty to any one guild cuz I connect more to individual people. Niv-Mizzet and Rakdos have always been my favorites
Hazada miltia have always been very effective, how do you feel about these new private investigation mystery solvers?
@@rennac3152 Peh. Meh
I favor golgari, as i have high respect for the inevitably that is the life death cycle both are beautiful and should be respected not feared apperantly some people do idk why
I wish the set for ravnica remastered was for magic arena
Me like smack. Me no like stack. Gruul goodest guild
As a survivor of the phyrexian invasion(gods damn it Vraska) whay our foods made of is a danger to you
And a burden to others
Also simic put down the phyrexian oil youve caused enough problems
Boros for life ✊🏼✊🏼
Legion Loyalist looks like grampa that survived world war.
the way you pronounce Borborygmos pains me
It’s always been the HARDEST name of all the fantasy genre for me to pronounce.
😂 it's too much
Bor-borig-mos
The pronouncement of Borborygmos..
Is soooo spot on. I know. I know. How do I do it? 😂
BAWR-BUH-RIG-MUS
Boros Legiooonnnn! What is your profession?!?!
Ahhh. I’m a Simic player. Boros is a lot of fun though!!!
Rakdos Forever
Niv Mizzet before he was reborn made Bolas bleed
😂Boar-boary-GOmos🤣 My brother in Niv, you're adding an 'O' to a name that has been said aloud correctly countless times
I know you're pronouncing Jarad with a second r, but it's JARAD like "Jared" or "jaw-rad", not JARARD.
Oh wow
Hope you enjoy ;)
The only one I like is the golgari, but I kind of like the izzet and the gruul
The whole world is a stage, and nobody likes the boring characters. The Cult of Rakdos shall always take the biggest spotlight.
Aurelia may threaten us with a war, but we sure welcome it. After all, us Rakkies are the masters of laughter. Oops, forgot the S in the front again
