Ikoria easily became my favorite due to the hyperevolution that caused the behemoths to evolve anti-oil measures so quickly.

Ikoria, where the behemoths tackled Phyrexia underfoot and even the might of Phyrexis wasn't even worth of note by Zilortha.
Zendikar, where the plane itself rose with natural might to fight off the invaders.
Ixalan, where the rage and fury of the Dinossaurs, the cunning of vampires and stuborness of humans prevailed.
Tarkir, where the fire raged and wings of flame buffeted the cancerous away in searing wrath.
And Innistrad... where it was just another Tuesday,
As you can see, I have a bit of bias with certain tropes.

If only WotC put into their own lore half the passion that channels like this do, we might have had an epic story spanned across multiple sets really seeing how each of the planes and its heroes faced off the Phyrexian hordes, instead of that rushed and half-baked resolution that the official writing team put out.
I guess it's better just to write ourselves most of the story based on the pictures and flavour text on the cards.

  • @ElodieCunningham
    @ElodieCunningham Год назад +1

I like how much flavour they added to each invasion not just through the battle cards but also the online side stories and commander deck lore. Bright palm being the leader of the defence of towashi really added to that commander feeling like part of the story

While underwhelming in terms of consequences (and horrible writing in those novels), at least War of the Spark still felt like a cohesive story.
The Phyrexian invation of the multiverse had a pretty good setup up to midway through MoM... then WotC pull off of Game of Thrones season 8 and suddenly the largest existential threat in history became a minor nuisance and the heroes won because of plot armour.

I'm so done with the over arching story. Let one set a year tell the ongoing current timeline story and let the other three sets each year all be stand alone sets from all periods of time.
      - Do alara, the sundering, and the shards now isolated.
      - Do Amonkhet pre Bolas.
      - Show us Innistrad before Avacyn.
      - Go back to Lorwyn/Shadowmoor in the past or show how it turned into Eldraine over time after the Human Planeswalkers introduced humans to the plane.
      - Do Kaldheim when the elves where the gods.
      - What about Argentum right when Memnarch started grabbing people.
      - Go to Ikoria when the mutation crystals first appeared.
      - What about Zendikar before the Eldrazi + Vampires?
      - Ravnica pre guilds when the Nephilim ruled.

From what I ggathered, it seems that Teferi invaded New Phyrexia, with Karn, they almost got Elesh Norn, but in the end she seems to have vanquished every Zhalfirin, and when she was about to slay Karn, Elspeth, who was supposedly dead, emerged as archangel, and slayed Elesh Norn. I'm sure I'm missing some info, therefore i'd love to hear about that :D
