Arsenal fan here. I didn’t like the way that Adebayor behaved the last season at our club. It was the worst behaviour from a player that I’ve ever seen at my club for 39 years as a fan.
Having said that… it’s vile to witness the abuse he faced from certain sections of our fan base. Disgusting doesn’t even describe it. It’s absolutely criminal to abuse on personal level, family or racist levels.
Arsenal fans have quite a full history with such experience. Eboue and Xhaka at most recently!
I was their that day, the Arsenal fans never stopped booing him from kick off to the final whistle..... How we City fans loved his run and celebration...... Bloody brilliant!

Fans are allowed to insult him and his family in any racist way, without any consequences but he is not allowed to celebrate his goal in front of the fans.

It should've "the most apt celebration" of all time. Arsenal threw him under the bus with transfer news and fans disrespected him and his family. He said in an interview, that celebration felt like "freedom".
If it's was me i would have done the same if anyone dare to disrespect my family. They fined him for disrespecting the fans and did nothing to the fans who disrespect his family.

It's amazing how this is considered the most disrespectful celebration (even with context) but not the one of the player doing a nazi salute?
1) Manny was under intense financial pressure from his own family... 2) Arsenal fans were actually punished by losing a generational talent team to City within seasons : Nasri, Touré, Adebayor, Clichy, Sagna... 3) Basically City paid for Arsenal's stadium, only to keep it trophyless.
Respect to all these players. They get so much abuse its crazy. I always expect players to blast so called fans when they constantly attack them for nothing.

Adebayor never wanted to leave Arsenal. He was pulled into a meeting with Wenger and told he was being sold (for financial reasons). Arsenal's board had a habit of selling their players back then and/or spinning it to cover their own backs.
So imagine these lies were told about him, he was sold when he didn't want to leave and then he had Arsenal fans booing him from kick off and singing nasty chants about his parents. Legendary celebration indeed 🎉

I have quitted watching soccer since 2011. Suddenly, this video popped up in my recommendation and it brought back a tremendous childhood memory of mind. I was a big Arsenal's fan and I watched this game live.
