  • Most footballers accept that the combination of relentless training, the right attitude and natural talent is the only way to the top. Some, however, believe skills are all you need. We look at five players with unbelievable ability who ruined their careers with a lousy attitude to training. And note, our definition of ‘ruined’ includes winning the Ballon d’Or!

Another one is Adriano. Man, he was a beast and had amazing technique. He started misbehaving after his father's death, so the root cause was psychological, but he brought it into the job by drinking. He ruined his career, he could have become one of the best of all times.

Those who say Messi is better than Ronaldo, Ok lets say Ronaldo is bad. But he plays just as good if no better than Messi which is reality.
The summary is, if Ronaldo can engineer himself to be as good as Messi, isn't Ronaldo the better role model and better person than Messi? Why should i look up to Messi (a god given talent), when you and me and everyone can use Ronaldo's ethics to be just as good at anything we want to be good at? In this case Ronaldo worked hard to be the best because he was not that good in the first place? 🤪

Ronaldinho won everything worth winning in football by an early age so I guess he kinda lost the motivation to keep going and decided to just party instead. He had a successful career by all measures but when your heart is no longer in something, it doesn't really matter how good at it you are, you are bound to underperform.

What makes Messi or Ronaldo a goat, is that both shown consistency & extreme professionalism till the end of their careers. How often do you see 34 or 36 year olds still performing for accolades & at elite level competition as a first team player? I think they can still go on to play till 38 or 40. True. I don't even think prime Steven Gerrard would be signed by Klopp since he was a little too lazy defensively and, not selfish, but over reliant on needing to be the one distributing the ball offensively that it would not work for Gegenpressing football. Klopp has a certain type that others undervalue and they become amazing when paired together. However there are a lot more football coaches coming through that share Klopp's philosophy so now it is a lot harder and more expensive to sign the type of players that fit.

Ronaldinho was the ultimate player. Best at everything. In his peak, no player could do what he did. He only lacked consistency. Messi and Ronaldo play simple football as it is and are consistent. That is why they have reached this level. At being the greatest and the most talented player of all time. I will always go with Dhino.

No, he most definitely did not achieve more than Messi and CR7. Trophies are team achievements. Dinho did not win them alone. His career was short-lived. Yes, he was very talented, but just imagine what he could've been had he put in the hard work.
