There wasn't even a kid in Africa in the 70s who didn't know who Pele was, and there were very little TVs then. That's how big this man was in football then. Africa, Lesotho.🇱🇸🇱🇸🇱🇸💯👍🏿
There were likely tens of millions of African kids who didnt know who Pele was. Stop exaggerating
@@benmacdui9328 Everyone in Africa knew who Pele was, and I was one of those kids who had never even seen him play, but knew about him. I was born in 68, but grew up in the 70 playing football barefoot thinking I was Pele. Don't take that ignorant attitude with me young boy. Lesotho.🇱🇸🇱🇸🇱🇸💯👍🏿

Pele was known like bob Marley even by those who don't know Reggae..
pele is the ultimate legend, the man who started my interest for football, long live pele 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Truly a man who transcended the game.
Sometimes young fans just look at statistics or old footage and say, "Messi it better", or "CR7", or "Maradona", etc.
What they fail to take into account is how much impact Pele had on the popularity of the sport around the world.
As Ronaldinho said the beginning of the video, "...for all the doors you opened for all the rest of us that came afterwards, LONG LIVE THE KING!"
Even if you go by statistics, Pele is the greatest.
As a six year old in 1966, for the first time I watched Pele in the famous white shirt of Santos .. and I became addicted to Football!! There is no one like him!!
and he dies, god that’s horrible
It was worth going to watch him play. Sadly, videos of his games are few, and so Millennials think Messi is the GOAT.
When you see the face of Pele, it is like the face of soccer. As one of Pele’s old team mate used to say, “Pele invented everything in soccer”!
A
It s football.
you mean football.
What great man a man of selfless goals which he fulfilled to the best of his ability...
That's the difference between the two MESSI defines football...
Pelé has either scored a goal or provided an assist in EVERY SINGLE WORLD CUP MATCH he played in, this includes group stages, QFs, SFs and Finals. Pelé was in the scoresheet in all World Cup games!!
Thats right. Incredible. Also he scored 29 goals in 23 finals games. 1.26 goal per game ratio in finals!
Mr world cup
that's my definition of goat, a ecisive player who steps up at big time.
@@alimakawi1612 me World Cup? He isn’t even the top scorer in World Cups?😂😂😂🤣🤣
@@xstargaming9824 yes but he won 3 and scored 14 goals
"When Pele talks the world listens" Cristiano Ronaldo. Yep, respect

As young boys playing soccer in the fields, we often called ourselves Pele, King of Football.....and it was a universal title for every soccer-loving young boy. So basically Pele is Football!!!
A fair comment,that's absolutely true
True. When I was kids, I made a goal and yelling that I am PELE. What a wonderful moment.
Even as a child, we all knew his name and his country even if we didn't have access to TV. Everyone talked about him and everyone loves him. That's the type of legend and hero he is. ❤️
Know it since I was a child of 8 years follow on STVS in Suriname ❤️yes for sure, PELE is the KING of football all over the world, hope he get well soon, love all the stories of PELE ❤️

Forever a name and face
And everyone wanted to be PELE
Stopping a war in Nigeria got me crying as if all reported achievements were not enough to get emotional. Thanks for the video! We loved Pele at my house growing up and we were a hardcore Christian family but Pele is Pele 😆👍🏽
Pelé was my father’s hero; allways has been until his dying days!
❤️
Two words to describe Pele:
The. GOAT.
CR7 RONALDO IS BETTER
No, No, No. The GOAT is a normal person. Pele evokes a spiritual reaction in people not seen in any person King or Queen.
Pelé is absolute the King of Football Yesss
@@maureenloritapocorni3019 Hear this, whenever Pele went to a foreign stadium, they had to have "maximum" security to guard his hotel, the football field. Just crazy. Because everybody in the stadium wanted the ball, his shoe, his shorts, his shirt, his sock, anything people could get their hands on. So security did not want that crowd to jump off. People were going to get killed.
⚽⚽💖💖 for the King Pele
When Pelé started the numbers on the jersey weren't very well defined by position, fact Is Brazilian goalkeeper Gilmar wore the number 3 in the 1958 World Cup. So at those times Pelé picked the number 10 almost randomly. After him the number 10 became almost a synonymous to the best player in the team. If not for him Maradona, Messi, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Zico, Rivellino, Platini, Zidane, Totti, Neymar, etc would have picked different numbers, and the list goes on and on and on. Tell me about leaving a mark in the game.
When clueless fans say the no10 is Maradona, Platini and Messi's number I laugh😄😄😄 my heart out!!
Wow I never knew that... He's such an inspiration to everyone.
D10S
True story!
Yes, you are correct. No. 10 had that allure. We all wanted to play like Pele.
I watched Pele as a kid he was a great men, fantastic human being and a wonderful ambassador for his sport, its players, his people and his contry....RIP Pele you'll be missed.
My first world cup was 1962. Watching Pelé showed me how the game can and should be played. He will forever be, my King of football - the game he taught me to love!
He is indeed the King. One and only!
He's The G.O.A.T! That's just A FACT!
Absolutely
💯💯💯
He is not the goat, he is the one and only KING, and he will forever rest in peace with his crown as the legend he was
He is the goat and the king
I went to his soccer camp when I was kid in the 80's. He was such a nice guy.
He (Pele) was equally brilliant with both feet! Something that others who are mentioned in the same breath as him seriously lack!
The unstoppable
He can do it all.. Even jump very high and a great header of the ball for his size..
Maradona is weak in one foot???
I respect the love for Pele, for sure. I'm not one to discredit him like many others do - but Messi is the best player that's ever kicked a ball. It's not even arguable anymore. Football back in Pele's day was of a lower quality, and Messi's stats alone (let alone the beauty of the eye test with him) take him right to the top.
Pelé also played as goalkeeper for Santos team in five occasions when it wasn't allow to have substitution of the player during the game, performing great defenses.
Amazing throwback of the KING PELE. Great voice over. Love everything about it!!
One of Pele's teammates in the greatest world cup team ever of 1970 said of him. Well by the time you were thinking of what he was going to do with the ball, he had already done it and moved two steps ahead. That's what makes Pele different from the rest of the great players.
Pele is the KING of football all over the world
@@maureenloritapocorni3019 You know in Pele's time defenders were free to foul even injure the strikers. Today the players can play unmolested because fifa is protecting the strikers. Pele you will always be the king of football. Viva Pele, viva Garrincha,, viva Rivelino, viva Brazil. You made this game into a fine art.
Pe Le playyyyy!! Not only the best Brazilian ever, the best in the world! You better believe it.
Pele is the ultimate king of soccer who inspired all modern day football stars👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. At the age of 3 years I already knew about this great man right back in Africa

Both supporters, Of Santos and São Paulo arrised to hail, and congratulate the King at the final wisthle. It was Santos 2x0 Sao Paulo. My dad was a deep supporter of São Paulo. Fanatic for football. @Ceifador I didn't grow up with my father and I thought I would be robbed of what you are feeling but we now have a bond and are now great friend's. I allowed my Father to give his self a chance and it worked out and the domino effect allows my other brothers, sisters, nephews and niece's to experience that as well. Yeah, l he Iis and always will be the und0ull
So true is this!!;!!
yes but at that time it was different
Saw him play first game for the cosmos back in the 70,s at downing stadium in New York City. Scored on a bicycle kick. Downing stadium field was awful. In upper east side MANHATTAN. In Randall’s island. Met him in giants stadium in New Jersey after a game with my college teammates. Pele introduced football (soccer) to the USA.
Well not actually true as football (Soccer) had a long history already in the USA. Before the North American Soccer League (NASL) was even setup let alone by the time Pele began playing for the New York Cosmos. With the United States national football team finishing 3rd place in the very first FIFA World Cup Finals tournament in 1930.
But no doubt that Pele during his time playing with New York Cosmos in the NASL. Greatly improved attendances and the overall popularity of the sport in the USA. But once he finally retired from the game that same level of popularity and attendance numbers could not be sustained.
@@peterpereira3653 what I mean by introduced is he accelerated the interest in us (football )soccer fans. Saw videos of him playing in the World Cup in the 70’s, intrigued by this “new “ foreign game , I took up the sport. Played in high school ,college and semi pro teams.
Wish I would have started earlier. I wasn’t too bad considering. Still love the “ most beautiful game”.
The last speech of the video of Pele is damn true
When Pele played, forwards did not have anywhere near the protection they get from referees today. They played with balls which were generally heavier and on pitches which were often a mess. Pele was clearly ahead of his time and would be my first choice in any all-time world eleven.
And the red card was not invented at the time...it was introduced only in 1970.
Agreed agreed. Most people don't realize that.

Only Christiano Ronaldo fans trying to console themselves on this topic hence their idol cr7 is no longer comparable to the real King, Messi. How many ballon dor' Pele won, zero. Why if he was king? I don't believe those low videos you display either
@@sackykamati7071 hey bozoo
Pele will always be the King and great ambassador for the sport. But trying to compare players of different eras is hard. Pele himself said that Messi is the best of the current era. It's hard trying to compare Rod Laver who played with wooden rackets with Roger Federer or trying to compare a current NBA star with guys like Wilt Chamberlain. I've never seen a more accurate passer than Tom Brady or someone with Jordan's hang time. But I will say the current players are well-compensated. Pete Rose created a huge stir when he was paid one million a year. That would be chicken feed for current top players.
Also, when Pelé played most of his games, it didn’t have red and yellow cards, and forwards were severely hunted.
No doubt about this, He is and always Will Be the King of football,⚽👉👑💔

Fun facts:
- Pelé was a substitute in the 1958 WC, and received the No.10 shirt. Because of the brazilian success, he adopted it as a "lucky number" and played with this number for his whole life. Due to his achievements on the field, the number on his back was so remarkable that was virtually impossible not to associate the number to him. Pelé was No.10, and No.10 was Pelé. Everyone wanted to be the "Pelé" of his team, hence most skilled players started to wear No.10 on their backs, and because of this the number started to be associated to a very skilled player. Skilled players wearing No.10 wasn't a thing before Pelé. He's the very reason *EVERY* skilled player wears a No.10 on their backs, including Zidane, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Messi, Cruyff, Del Piero, Bergkamp, Beckham and so many others.
- Pelé was named the greatest athlete of the 20th century by MANY media presses from MANY countries. I mean... *MANY!* And even so by World Class players from that time, such as George Best, Beckenbauer, Fontaine, Bobby Charlton, Puskás, Cruyff, Mazzola, Dino Zoff and so many more.
- Pelé has met the Queen Elizabeth in person, in 1968. But *SHE* went to Brazil to meet him, not the opposite. Hence his importance globally.
Yeah, Mr Pele is the best. He has all our respect. Love Brazil 🇧🇷 alway,, from USA 🇺🇸
