  • My first time riding in a trail network affected by a wildfire, the experience in Redding riding through a burnt out forest was spooky, to say the least. Riding up to Mule Mountain, we ride Snail Trail and Enticer.

You won’t be disappointed. Redding Trail Alliance, which Nate and Camille have been a huge part of have done great work around here in recent years and have been absolutely crucial in getting things going again with our trails since the fire. They just finished a new climbing trail for Enticer named after Owen that is a great way to get up to the top.

I have gotten a few chances to go up there, and it's like a whole new world! The trails I grew up riding are so different now. I can see so much more without the leaves and foliage blocking my view.

I appreciate your candor regarding your reticence on the jumps. Too many youtubers are happy to show off jumping skills, making schmos such as myself feel like fraidycats for not sending ourselves and our bikes sailing through the air at every opportunity. I agree with the folks who are asking for less music. I too prefer the sound of the tires on the ground. Here in eastern Iowa we are still flooded out and none of my local trails have been open for more than one day this year, so I have to live vicariously through you tube.

I have lived in Redding my whole life, and the carr fire was bad. But Redding in general has become a shit hole because of the crackheads and homeless population has became horrible. Great video again Eric! I know how you feel about the gap jumps. I'm the same, I know I have the ability to do it, but my brain just won't let me.
I recently managed to over power my thoughts though, went to some local trails that have some decent 18-20ft doubles. I did a couple of test runs to speed check, and then my brain started to shut me off. Before I could think to much about it, I just went for it, and I'm glad I did as I was able to clear them all easily. I found that deliberately thinking about something non mtb related helped me to switch off mentally. Even singing in your head can help achieve this. Just an idea for you to try anyway.
Keep up the great video's, and u hope both Yuka and yourself are well!
Take care, and much love from the uk!

You should have checked out bidwell too. Also, my neighbor broke a bone in his neck out in Swazey. Kind of sad??? Its very sad! Same goes for Paradise area. Also make better choices of words. Dont say thank god for the fire when life is lost. That place will stay burnt for several years. It will take years for new growth trees around Whiskeytown. You have to remember that many of the people who went through the fires (Carr and Camp plus others) will never be the same. People who are new to the area will not look at it the same as what most of the residences remember before the fire. There is no controversy. Fires destroy everything in its path and leaves little to nothing.
