    Have a 2012 sport awd. Love the car. Came with a few issues. Both front bearings were changed, front struts, breaks, and fan blower. Transmission was also an issue (at least I thought it was). Brought the car to Ford because I thought there was a problem. Transmission with jolt from first gear to second. Then slip when going uphill. Always had power just would do those specific things. Ford diagnosed the car and said I needed a new transmission. Other mechanics said the same thing. So I decided to start shopping for a shop to do the job because Ford wanted way too much. Before bringing my car to a mechanic my friend came over and we started talking about the issue. He told me to pop the hood and check the transmission oil. When first checking the dipstick the oil appeared at level. But he told me to start the car put the car in each gear for about 3 seconds put it back in park, then check the oil level. Upon doing so I learned that my transmission oil was very low. This was the correct way to check a transmission proper oil level to indicate whether it needs fluid or not. Long story short I added the transmission oil and now my transmission is running like brand new. No sleeping and no clunking. I saved myself 3,600 dollars. If you have a fusion please take the steps before bringing your car to the mechanic. Thank me later

    That was the sound of an automatic transmission torque converter in limp mode being burned out because the computer refuses to let it lock up with the transmission input shaft. It's caused by the transmission shift solenoid power supply wires being burned out and shorting. They are located in the out edge of the valve body section of the transmission and are part of the electronic brain of the transmission.

    I have a 2012 SEL with the 2.5. I have to tap the gas to switch gears to give the clutch packs some time to shift. Two weeks into driving the car like normal and I get the wrench icon and it went into limp mode. I now use overdrive (hill Climb assist) to manually give it power and switch it off when I need to change gears. Quite chaotic but I love it. It’s fun to drive that way cause I’m instantly able to control the power and fuel usage!

    Yesterday, went to a Ford dealer about a 2010 Fusion as I'm looking to replace my 2002 Honda Accord EX. Really like the new, German styling of the 2010 version versus all prior year's. The 2010's on the lot looked as good in person as in photos but after reading of numerous consumer complaints regarding the transmission slip and now seeing your video, am thinking of holding onto my Accord or of just buying a newer one with IT'S new styling. Thanks. Thought Ford was past "Fix Or Repair Daily."

  • @ItsNotAllRainbows_and_Unicorns

    No, the transmission was not ruined by the previous owner. It's a design flaw. It is quite possible the previous owner, not knowing how to get rid of it, stopped paying the bills. The transmission would fall under the lemon law.

      @@Davido50No on is trolling bud, the 6F35 transmission in these fusions is absolute garbage. It's a very common issue and Ford knew about it the whole time. they didn't care, they just kept throwing em in the Fusions year after year. Their "fix" was to have the PCM flashed and update the software. It solved nothing 95% of the time unless the software was updated before any mileage was accumulated on the vehicle. If the car had any mileage put on it with the old software the damage to the transmission was already done and would only get worse. I'll never understand fanboys that will defend a company even when they blatantly and with full knowledge of the impending issues put out a shit product and try to cover it up. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Ford, Chevy, BMW, Acura, Honda Sony, Microsoft, the company that makes feminine hygiene products, virtually every single large, global corporation, regardless of what their product is, they don't give one single damn care to whether their faulty product will fail to do what it's supposed to do. Or in your case whether or not their vehicles will end up leaving you stranded on the side of the highway with a massive repair bill or a worthless vehicle. The only thing they care about is, will they be able to shift the blame or hide the issues long enough to skirt any financial responsibility to make it right. That's every single auto manufacturer for sure. Long, long gone are the days of customer loyalty or the idea of a car company actually caring about their customers. Globalization has killed any kind of accountability in the auto industry. The same 3 or 4 corps own all of the different brands. they just don't care because you have nowhere else to go to buy a vehicle. I can already see people ready to poke holes in that logic, let me explain first. So Ford puts out a shit vehicle and 70 out of 100 people get one that is crap. 20 of them are like you, they love Ford and they KNOW Ford would never do them wrong. So they run right out and get another Ford. But 50 of those 70 say never again and they go and buy a chevy next time. Well, guess what, Chevy put out a shit vehicle the same time ford did and 80 out of 100 people got one of those. 60 said the hell with chevy I'm getting a Ford this time around and the other 20 said I love Chevy forever and went and grabbed another one. None of it matters in the long run. It's all theater and marketing that's it. There isn't competition there's cooperation now.

    Yes...I have the same problem with my 2010 Ford Fusion, 2.5L 6-speed automatic, I brought it to the dealership 5 timesa already, finally today they told me they were able to duplicate to problem, it was intermitent, would only happen some of time and not others. It would slip like crazy, feel like its not even in gear sometimes, i was hitting the "rev-limit" quite a few times, but the PCM wont allow it to rev into the red-zone, it is a build in fail-safe, it will automatically decelerate.

    We have a 2010 Ford Fusion SE 4 cyl. We are the original owners bought new in Oct. 2009. The car has about 26,500. We received one recall for the transmission in June, 2010. Took to the dealer for a computer chip reprogram. Last month it started to seem like the trans was starting to slip badly. Then this (exactly what is happening in the video). We took it to the dealer, it's still at the dealer. We have had the car back for only about a day and a half in the last month. We get it back and it

    I know I'm late to the party here, but I have a 2010 Ford fusion and the electrical system went completely nuts about 4 months ago.
    the car started idling high. a week later an ignition coil caused a misfire, so I replaced it. Then a few days after that the automatic transmission wouldn't shift in to drive when I was at a stop light until I put the gas all the way to the floor, then suddenly it would slam in to gear.
    long story short. the transmission was replaced, but the idling issue remained. come to find out the source of my whole issue was the mass air flow sensor. it was sending faulty signals to my powertrain control module which caused my transmission to have no idea when to shift. cars are just way too complicated these days.

    There are no lifters in a transmission. Lifters are in the engine, part of the valve train. I hardly think Honda issues apply to domestic vechicles.

    You know, I don't know if this will help, but check out the mounts/lifters, we have the same problem on our 99 odyssey, it does the same exact thing, when you shift it into gear it chugs, and when you start accelerating it does that, and it slips between gears (feels like you got it in neutral).

    I had a 2010 fusion sport with no tranny issues as it had what I believe was an Allison trans... I do beleive those transmissions are better. That car was totaled, and replaced with a 2012 SEL 3.0 V6. That thing was a POS. The transmission would slip from 1st to 2nd and I brought it to 2 independent shops and then eventually Ford. All of them told me nothing was wrong. I took it upon myself to replace all the solenoids, valvebody, and it still shifted roughly but not as bad. FINALLY, I did a transmission relearn and it slowly corrected itself. However, every 5-6 months I have to relearn the tranny cause it will start slipping again. Fords adaptive shift points are what make these transmissions suck. I also owned a 2015 fusion and it didn't shift any better. Will never buy another ford vehicle again. Which sucks because they are the only manufacture that has option AWD in their sedans and I don't have the needs to have a huge SUV.

    Bad transmission. I had that happen in my 500. Throw it in neutral till you feel it’s in gear and put back in gear. It’s loosing it’s spot in the gears. It’s an expensive fix but once it’s fixed it drives amazing.

    They told me they were going to send it out to a transmission shop and that my warrenty should cover it. It would slip out of gear and get hung up, and sometimes on quite acceleration at highway speed it would "hang' for a few seconds, i would often feel vibrations through the accelerator pedal, and would vibrate on occasion when i put it in reverse or drive gears, and feel pulsations and waves of vibrations in park.

    This does seem like it's more likely that it's something to do with the throttle. The drive by wire system could also be involved, it may not be sensing the peddle position correctly/consistently or the computer that controls the throttle may be bad, either of which would explain why the engine speed is so erratic.

      This is actually a common problem in most ford fusion due to the split case transmission and the filter being practically not serviceable. That being said the fusion uses mercron LV a lighter thinner transmission fluid and requires you to change (flush it) every 30,000 miles- A big pain in the ass... supposedly you can tune up the transmission by having someone tweak it with a computer.

    • @XPawnSkumX
      @XPawnSkumX 5 лет назад

      @@Davido50 actually look up any ford fusion forum this is a big issue at least with the 2010 ford fusion. Transmission is just junk off the lot especially being that you have to drop the whole thing to service a filter- by that time most people just swap it with a better transmission. Great video maybe people should do some research before dropping a comment speaking for everybody!

    I hope you did not drive that car in this condition for very long because if the transmission was not bad before, it is now due to the slippage. These cars have a defective valve body that causes loss of hydraulic pressure on the forward clutch. This also being a CVT transmission means that when it starts to have problems it will remain problematic and is very expensive to replace. Could be why you bought it at the auction lol.

      It’s not a cvt. It’s a six speed automatic. He was definitely sticking his foot deeper in the throttle than he should have been considering he knows it has a problem.

    @DoorisJ 55000 miles huh? How often have you been changing the transmission oil, the timing belt, the motor oil and oil filter? Also, when was the last time you checked the engine reinforcement, the bars that keep the engine in place? If one of the bars is loose, the engine can vibrate, even the car, and it will make it sound a lot louder. Oh, and next time, buy a car that's made by one of the countries in the Axis powers during WW2.

    For anyone saying this is Ford's quality, I'm guessing this is more of a previous owner issue. They probably treated it like shit to damage it, as it was getting repo'd anyways.

  • @DoorisJ

    These transmission problems people are talking about is freaking me out. My mom has a 10' ford fusion with about 55,000 miles and the engine has become increasingly loud and the shifts are becoming a little bit rough and taking a bit to long. She still has 2 years of payments though. But she has the gap insurance, maybe i'll park it under a old tree the next tornado warning.

  • @hedga001
    @hedga001 9 лет назад +1

    I would flush the transmission and change the filter. Then add new fluid plus 1 qt of Lucas transmission fix and drive it for about 250 miles and pray. If it doesn't fix it. Get rid of it! Ford's can be pretty decent vehicles but their automatic transmission are somewhat weak and do fail if you don't maintain the transmission regularly ever 25 to 30k miles.

    Our 2011 fusion has 10k miles and the transmission acts up, it slips sometimes, it's more noticeable in reverse. It's a company car, otherwise I think it's junk. Took it into ford and they said it was normal.

  • @CBRRR-eh3ky
    @CBRRR-eh3ky 7 лет назад +1

    My answer may come late but I will share my opinion hoping that it helps somebody out there. I think the problem may be related to a leak on the driver side axle shaft; Indeed, inside the the case, is a ring called inner axle bearing that wears out against the axle itself leading to fluid leaking like water leaking from a faucet; even the axle seal can not stop this leak. If not caught on time, it is more likely that the transmission will go out.
    Note: manufacturing problem but they never recalled it. I found that out on youtube.

    Well just because you have a snobby BMW doesn't meab you wont have problems, infact you'll probably have quite a few expensive ones once your warranty goes out. I've heard enough people complain about BMWs in my days to know that they have their fair share of issues (and expensive ones at that) too.
