Hi there, great video. I have made the jig and im using 3mm Acrylic. Im doing the 20 pass in about 4 different places on the radius. But when i take the clamps off it doesnt hold the shape any way as good as yours. The 20 passes. Is one pass counted as left to right or is it left to right and back again. Also i have noticed heat crack marks on the Acrylic. Your help is appreciated 🙏 ❤
Hi there, it has been about 4 years since I made the video so my memory is a bit hazy. The 20 passes was more of a guide, you really just want to make sure it is nice and hot but not melting, i would get it to the point where it was very hot to touch. The cracks would be stress cracks, not from heat but rather from the plastic being bent when it wasn’t hot enough. All the best I hope you can get it to work for you. As a side note, there are a lot of businesses that actually custom make these windows relatively cheap now due to demand.
I broke a curved window, I said a few colourful words as i did it.. I thought it was going to be impossible to find a replacement. went to bunnings, got the good stuff, didnt make a jig but i did have a post tube and a drop sheet, i bent it a little too sharp =( the top and bottom are good but the middle sort of comes to a sharp corner. drove to melbourne and back and cracked one at the front.. so i might as well make the jig and make 4 all to match. yay
Mel Sparkles I used the old piece of plastic taken out of the window. I have an Instagram page, oldgirlfrankie, that has some more pictures of it if your interested.
Hi Neil, I’d be willing to loan the jig but we live in Qld, near Toowoomba. Might be a bit of a hike to get it. It’s really not hard to knock one up. Hope the Reno goes well!
Hi, I’m on sunny coast, would all glaziers have that rubber? Also, is it used with glass as well? I have to do the rubbers on the windows of my Olympic but they’re glass not perspex

That is very Neat ! Nice Job !
Thanks for sharing!:-) Good job. Can I ask how you got the jig shape so spot on?

Hi, I’m on sunny coast, I need to replace the rubber seals on my Olympic, but they’re glass not Perspex, would this be the same? Cheers
Hi, I’m not sure as I have only done the Perspex. I would assume it would be the same.
@@oldgirlfrankie5140 hey, thank you for taking the time to reply. I’ll do some research. Thank you for that video.
Hi Frankie! Got to do exact same job! What are the chances of you selling/renting/loaning your jig???!!??? Cheers, Neil (Central Coast)

Competent 👍
How thick is the acrylic? Thanks :)
Hi Ella, the acrylic was 3mm.
Hi, where did you get the perspex from? Cheers
Hi Joe, we live in the Lockyer Valley Qld. I purchased 2 x 3mm sheets from Mulford Plastics in Archerfield. Cheers
@@oldgirlfrankie5140 thank you!
