What I love about the The rocket barrel and Minecart levels is that sometimes there will be so much on the screen but most of it is harmless. When you first play the level though you don’t know what will hurt you or what won’t. For example the bat in Crowded cavern can’t hurt you sometimes or in sawmill thrill the giant saw that chases you can’t do anything to you, they are just distractions but you don’t know that the first time you play the stage
Also, there is an Easter egg in this level. Right after the checkpoint, that bat that chases you The entire level in returns is frozen in that giant chunk of ice
To those of you who say anything about this game being way too generous with lives, just play this level. Pretty soon, you'll start to think that they weren't generous enough. Like, I started this level with 44 lives, I beat it with 12 remaining.

Yeah! Got all the puzzle pieces & kong letters after 15 or so tries! There's quite a learning curve to the rocket barrel but once you get it down pat it gives you a HUGE sense of accomplishment! Awesome level!
No it really fucking doesn't. I got to this one and the past the others. And not on Funky Kong mode. I don't feel accomplished. I feel like the game is trying to make people rage at it. The rocket controls suck and you have to maneuver damn near perfectly with very little check points.

Granted, I’ve played the game before but despite the rocket controls, it’s not unbearable. Some of the puzzle pieces here are straight-up evil though
A few things a wanna point out from DKCR, the railroad tracks in the background were from the mole train in level 4-4 mole patrol and a train similar to the mole train would chase you around but since you destroyed it its no longer in use. Of course the bat is from 4-5 crowded cavern were a family off bats would try and take you out, and the big one would be on your tail ( no pun intended ) and at the end of the level fire lasers at you, but I suppose something happened and he/she froze. And the last detail is if you listen carefully when the snowballs drop, it makes the crystal falling/ breaking from 4-1 ( rickety rails ) 4-3 ( bombs away ) and 4-4 ( mole patrol ), its quite hard to hear so listen carefully when a snowball drops! And of course the mole huts in the background occasionally from almost all the cave levels.

Finaly i got that damn puzzle piece at 2:44 after like 10000000000000000 tries. To all whos having trouble with this, i say dont give up ! :P this is nothing compared to the temple levels :P
I remember playing this game back when I was 10 years old and it was REALLY hard to get the puzzle pieces. But looking back at this now looks really cool.
The K levels are definitely harder, but the puzzle pieces here are more annoying. I have fun playing the K levels, but having to kill myself over and over to get the banana chain was seriously annoying.
I've only been watching videos here and there. I only am to world 3-2. But here's what I have to say about amount of rocket barrel levels 1 = Enough 2 = Too Much (one was enough) 3 = No More, if the game makers care about their health 4 = Never Again should there be a game with any rocket barrel levels 5 = F!ck you! To the game makers 6 = sodamastic wishes/things to the game makers
There have been some pretty hard moments in this game but overall felt it was a fairly balanced challenge until I hit this level and I started dying over and over again using up all my lives.
For the longest time I didn’t know you could push up or down to sharply angle the blast barrel. Was completely essential for that puzzle piece you get from collecting all bananas and coins between snowballs shown here 2:33 Hope this comment helps someone else!
This is the worst level in this game easily. The rocket barrel sucks on its own but getting the puzzle pieces that requires hard to hit banana chains is just stupid. Hopefully they never use the rocket barrel again.
Puzzle Piece 6 wouldn’t even be that bad if they put it next to a checkpoint instead of 80% the way through the longest autoscroller checkpoint know to man
Fuck this level. Stupid controls on that rocket. It looks a lot easier than it is to drive it. If you do not tap B perfectly you are fucked. And there's no hearts if you get near the end so if you make a mistake, start all over. They made this game frustratingly difficult with these levels when it should be fun.
I found this level super easy actually lol even the puzzle pieces Edit: except the second to last one where the snow balls are falling, that one can go to hell 😂
I just completed this after one good run with three shields (my first try with 5 hits instead of 2). I don't feel this sense of accomplishment that some gamers brag about. I feel very annoyed that the developers knowingly made it that difficult and relief that I never have to visit this level again and can probably finish the game. If that's fun to people....yeah fuck that. I was definitely getting angry and if it gets to that point, I'll go play something else. The rocket controls are awful. And fuck, that first narrow hallway after the first checkpoint is hell if you keep being brought back there after dying. It requires perfect control to drop down and go straight.

There's a sense of emergency in this level (and its music) that's not present in, say, Reckless Ride.

The snow ball section really surprised me so much that I died the first time.
You are seriously skilled took me almost 30 tries to complete with squawks and the crash shield.
