My husband has been outside for an hour trying to get the spare tire down. I watched this video, went outside and lowered it for him. Thanks so much! Looks like I will be taken out for supper this evening!
Hey, that’s a lot better than me that went directly underneath trying to use channel locks to thread the nut to lower the tire hopefully not realizing there was a locking key somewhere else 🤦♂️
Ummm... not trying to bust your round pieces parts, but you said turn clockwise but turned it COUNTER clockwise. Or am I losing my mind? Ahhh... I watched it again and YES, you said clockwise, but *COUNTER CLOCKWISE was captioned on the screen. I don't know how much more of this I can take. )o: LOL
Good video. I didn’t know about key to lower tire. Just like my others if it doesn’t lay on ground just put log or rock or your foot to give you slack in cable. Thanks
Is it ok to practice changing truck tires? I am a country gal....but my Dad was never one to teach others stuff. He just did it and we never needed to change a tire. He just told me verbally how to do it. And he had heart failure and 2 strokes so he never could teach me. ( he passed end of september) Well about a week ago the tire of my sister's escape blew from a pot hole and we were a hour from home and most everyone we know is too old to help. We have AAA and I kid you not. The estimated time was about 15 min....then pushed to 30. That was the last we heard. Sat there for over a hour when a off duty police officer with his family going the opposite direction stopped in the road to see if we were ok. He told us they always take 3-4 hours. He couldn't do anything because he was on the way somewhere with his family, but he gave us the number for county dispatch and said they would be out soon. Just as he left and we where about to call the number a tow truck went by, sonwe thought he just missed us and had to turn around (we were on a small hill, thankfully on the good side of the road) so we couldn't see past. He never came back so we had waited a very generous 10 min or so when we called dispatch. After that took another 35+ min because (we didn't know until the sheriff came) it was shift change, so it slowed it a bit. He showed up, showed me how to do it with her car and gave me the trick of as soon as you take the bad tire, stick it under the car next to the jack incase it falls it will kimd of hold it so you can get it back up and keeps you safer. Which actually did happen as he put the spare on. Anyway he got that done in probably 10 min? Maybe a little more. And we were on our way after over 2 hours! And it was dusk as we hit the road. So now, I am on a mission to know my truck so I can get on with it. And not stuck sitting. As a country gal it was embarrassing. Oh! And he said never go over 55 with a spare. We went 50....just in casw and the tire was extremely low and we were a ways from a gas station.
That was the EXACT idea when I made it! I was on the side of the road trying to skip through lengthy videos trying to change my tire 😅 sooooo, I made a better one 🤘🏻 that got straight to the point and can get people back on the road!
None of these videos show how to actually disconnect the damn Tire
once you have lowered the tire to the ground, turn the support ring to the side and pull it up
😂
@@daVICdemizerHOW?!
I KNOW!
thank you king, saved me and my friends life 🙏🙏🙏🙏
How do you take the tire off the cable? Mine doesnt go all the way to the ground.
Take off the “flat” wheel and use it as a platform to lower the spare onto. Your cable should reach the ground though.

@@brandiwhiteaker186 lol glad I could help! 🤣
Good grief a woman lol
Thanks for the video, I took mine off and carry my tire in the back of my truck, the rim will inevitably rust out under the truck like that
Turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE to lower the spare. Not CW, like this guys says
Thanks bro u save my day
So grateful! 🔆👻💚🧡👻🔆 Embrace your adventurous spirit & stay safe out there 🤘🏻
Counter clockwise lowers the tire.
Exactly. We put up that correction on the text on the screen!
Thanks 🙏
Good video except, you meant to say counterclockwise on lowering the tire
My bar won’t catch on the hoist mechanism… no matter how gentle or aggressive I attempt
there is a guide tube that falls out of place and makes it impossible to locate the hoist crank.
@@nosonfontenot3072 finally someone replies… I’ve been sitting on the side of the highway for a month now
That’s the problem I am having
Take this video off the air please. You specifically say turn clockwise and then you turn counter clockwise. This video is crushing people’s car
Very informative and straight to the point!
Awesome work.
Thanks friend! I hope this was useful to you 🔆🧡🔆
Thanks!
We’re grateful to be able to help! Thank you for being here 🥰🥰🥰
I never would have guessed that. Thanks
Thank You !!!! I was about to pull my hair out!!! I had the wrong end in there. I had the end with the tiny hook going in.
Glad to help! The only reason I made it is because I was pulling my hair out too!! Safe travels!!!

That’s funny cause the rods will not grab anything on mine at all with the square end.
Short sweet and right to the point thank you very much, just what i needed when i was stuck on the side of the road 2020 duramax
So grateful! I was once stuck on the side of the road too and couldn’t find a video that got straight to the point. So I fixed that 🤘🏻
"You can disconnect the cable" Really cause I can't see any possible way to do that, thats why I came here. DUH!
Thank you bro
Glad to help 👍🏻🔆👻💚🧡👻🔆
Just tried lowering spare tire on my brother in law's truck. No luck. There is nothing catching.. There must be something stuck inside. :(
Might have to take lic plate off and use a flashlight to see where the square connection point is located.
Wanting to add winch to my '69 C-10 stepaide.
Thank you!!!!! 2023 AT4 HD....2am sideroad repair!!
No worries! Stay safe!
Guys, sometimes it’s counter clockwise wise
Almost broke my truck
Thanks for this video. The manual doesn't show which end of the rod needs to be inserted into the crank mechanism.
Thanx bro
You genuinely just saved me on the side of the road just now. Thank you so much for making this video!

Turn to the LEFT!!!!!!!! That IS NOT Clockwise!!!!!
We made sure to add pop up text on the video when the voiced error occurred 🤘🏻 we got you!
Can't thank you enough! Stupid simple!
Grateful it helped 🤘🏻
i was wondering how it was done
You said clockwise and video shows counter clockwise.
Thank you! We put up text on the screen of the correct way to counter our error! Tire changes on the side of the road have us whackadoodle 🤪
What if you don’t have the key to that lock?
@@TrueDuckFan it should be the same as the ignition key!

Once a year, Lower and Lubricate all the mechanisms, then they will work when needed. Check the Tire Pressure often, you might get a bid surprise.
To everyone asking about disconnecting the tire from the wire, tilt it sideways and it will fit right through the center tire hole. 🙃

Clockwise or counter clockwise ?
